This is the latest from your news feed. It's Thursday, the twenty third of May. South Australian Premier Peter Malinowskis's push to ban children under fourteen from social media has been bolstered by the US's top doctor, who urged government
action to tackle a medical emergency amongst young people. US Surgeon General Doctor Vivek Murphy met with mister Malinowskis in the White House compound on Wednesday, telling him of a heightened need to regulate social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat, Instagram and x. Doctor Murphy issued an alert in May last year about the effects of social media on young people, saying there were ample indicators that social media can also
pose a risk of harm to the mental health and wellbeing of children and adolescents. Aviation experts have begun an investigation into how a Singapore Airline's flight dropped more than a kilometer in less than a minute, leaving one man dead and other passengers doing some assaults as the plane plunged. Seventy one passengers, including eight Australians, were injured in severe turbulence, which forced the plane to make an emergency landing in Bangkok.
We'll be back after this. One of Channel nine's on air stars has revealed her former boss, Darren Wick sexually harassed her in public, groping her and breathing heavily down her neck. In an emotional interview, the presenter said she was made so distraught by the toxic culture at the time that she raised it with a board member, but
nothing was done. The star, who has agreed to tell her story but doesn't want to be named, said many female colleagues were revolted by Wick's behaviour and shocking allegations of gender selection within the Queenslands in fertility industry are being investigated by the Health Ombardsmen. The revelation comes amid moves to make it illegal to design babies by a gender, with a bill tabled in state parliament on Wednesday that would see providers who break the rule phase two years imprisonment.
