Hello and welcome to Daily English — today’s expression is see things in a new light. One more time: see things in a new light
Imagine a friend you always thought was careless — until one day, you learn what they’ve been through.
Or a city you once disliked — but after visiting it with someone you love, you start to notice its charm, its rhythm, its soul.
You’ve begun to see it in a new light.  What do you think that means?
To see something in a new light means to change the way you understand or feel about it — to gain a new perspective or deeper insight.
It’s when your heart and mind shift — and suddenly, things look different.
After moving abroad, I began to see my home country in a new light — with both gratitude and honesty.
When Sarah read her mother’s old letters, she saw her in a new light — not just as a parent, but as a woman with dreams and struggles.
After volunteering in a refugee camp, he saw privilege and comfort in a new light.

Seeing something in a new light doesn’t mean you were wrong before — it means you’ve grown. You’ve gained depth, empathy, and understanding.
