Hit a wall 

means to reach a point where you can’t continue — usually because you’re tired, out of ideas, or emotionally exhausted.
 It’s like running full-speed into an invisible wall that stops you in your tracks.

Examples

1- During the third week of my new job, I hit a wall — the pressure and lack of sleep just got to me.

2- He was trying to stay positive after the breakup, but one night he just hit a wall and couldn’t hold back the tears.

Hello and welcome back to Daily English! Today’s expression is “hit a wall.”  One more time—hit a wall. Let’s see if you can guess what it means from these clues:

You’ve been studying all day for an exam. You were focused, you were doing great… and then suddenly your brain just stops working. You stare at the page and nothing makes sense. You’ve hit a wall. Or maybe you’ve been trying to finish a project at work. You had so much energy in the beginning, but now you’re exhausted and stuck. You’ve hit a wall.

So what does “hit a wall” mean? To hit a wall means to reach a point where you can’t continue — usually because you’re tired, out of ideas, or emotionally exhausted.
 It’s like running full-speed into an invisible wall that stops you in your tracks.

Examples: “I was writing my thesis for hours, but around midnight I hit a wall and couldn’t type another word.”
“During the third week of my new job, I hit a wall — the pressure and lack of sleep just got to me.”
He was trying to stay positive after the breakup, but one night he just hit a wall and couldn’t hold back the tears.
