Hi everyone, and welcome to Daily English. Today’s expression is simple, natural, and used all the time in real conversations. It’s “believe it or not.”One more time:“believe it or not.”
She looked at the clock and laughed. She had planned to study for just five minutes…
and an hour had passed. Believe it or not, she was actually enjoying it.
What do you think this expression means?
“Believe it or not” is used when we say something surprising, unexpected, or hard to imagine.
It’s a way of saying: this may sound strange, but it’s true.
Let’s listen to some examples: She thought she needed hours of free time to practice. But believe it or not, ten minutes a day made a real difference.
Believe it or not, the system crashed right when I was about to submit the work I had spent all morning on.
Believe it or not, I forgot about the meeting entirely and only remembered when I saw the calendar notification pop up.
Now Can you finish this sentence? Believe it or not, I never thought I could…
And just a reminder, because a couple of you have asked. You can easily access the transcripts by clicking on “for checking the transcript” in the description
