Day 22 - Genesis 30-31

Almost all of Jacob's children are born to him by his four wives (not good advice) and it is time for him to go back to his father so he can claim the land that God had promised him. But God has prospered Laban through Jacob and he doesn't want to let him go. With these two involved, trickery ensues and eventually, Jacob is free to leave with his wives, children, and flocks, and a couple of household gods thrown in for good measure. Abram and Sarai become Abraham and Sarah, and they are so excited about God's promises that they take matters into their own hands. We see a new confusing practice instituted which might have kept a lesser man from following the LORD, and God is showing up in various forms all over this story. We've reached the end of the book of Job. od continues his challenging words to Job, but he does not end up bruised by God but simply humbled. God was not out for Job's blood but for his heart, and we get a happy ending to the story, but God would have been good even if he left Job in the ash heap after he was done speaking. Job and his friends are finally silent and God speaks majestically out of a whirlwind. God does not answer Job's questions.
