A few things to note:
Genesis 15 has in store the blessing of Abram. I suppose, Covenant would be a better word, though Abram was blessed by it. He is promised not only a child, but also an inumerable seed.
Genesis 16 tells of Ishmael's birth and the turmoil between Hagar and Sarai.
Genesis 17, "The Almighty God" (El Shaddai) is revealed to Abram, this is a new name for Abram to know God by. To this point He has been, "LORD" (Jehovah), and in 14:20 was introduced to Him as "the Most High God" (El Elyon), in 15:2 Abram called Him "Lord GOD" (Adonai Jehovah), then "God" (elohim) talked with him. We see that God changed his name from Abram to Abraham.
Matthew 5 contains what is called the Sermon on the Mount as well as the Beatitudes. A long-ish chapter but chock full of wisdom out of the mouth of Christ.
