When the eruv string becomes ineffectice over Shabbat- can a gentile be called to fix it? May a Jew violate a Rabbinic prohibition to fix it? Should we tell people the eruv is down? Clarification: bow knots (tying shoelaces) are permitted on Shabbat, the debate is around using a bow knot to fix an eruv which could be problematic.
