Newsboys

Carrying a bundle of newspapers and shouting out the day’s headlines on city streets, the newsboy is an American icon. Featured in photographs, paintings, comic strips and public statues, he’s touted as someone who is quintessentially American. Who is—or was-- he? Why does he loom so large in the public imagination?
