By the late ‘80s, Stanton had fully embraced military metaphors in the Bible, mobilizing his Jesus Army to wage war against sin and save British souls. Their recruiting tactics earned them the nickname “kidnap cult.” But it wasn’t until four years after Stanton’s death that the true extent of the Fellowship’s wicked ways were revealed.
