[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah Well, let's get a little more than that crypto gotten review 20 25 as presented by us our view our experience are I don't know I guess our reflection on this year's cryptic con With a lot of guest speakers there and a lot of hotels still junky [SPEAKER_04]: Well, if anything, uh, if you've been listening to this show and you were here last year and the year before that, uh, it's still bad. [SPEAKER_04]: You'll tell it.
[SPEAKER_04]: We say that we decide to stay at the hotel again. [SPEAKER_04]: And guess we're just jumping right into this. [SPEAKER_04]: So this is our Crypticon 2025 review episode. [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, we're just going to jump right into it. [SPEAKER_04]: I guess so, uh, Yeah, we stayed at the hotel again. [SPEAKER_04]: Even though we said we weren't.
[SPEAKER_04]: things happen and we decided maybe that would be best to stay there and then we ended up staying there and we give it a go one last hurrah just to see how much better things have gotten like your bartender friend [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I'll tell that story. [SPEAKER_03]: You remember it? [SPEAKER_03]: No, being a Spartaener, been going out for like four years now. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: App, for instance, the ownership change.
[SPEAKER_03]: When the ownership change, what you should be a black guy that was a bartender, and he was the best bartender ever. [SPEAKER_03]: Really good. [SPEAKER_03]: He was really good. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that place would be packed, and he'd be turning them out, and being like, I'll be right back to the guy we're going to get food, and he was the only one.
[SPEAKER_03]: The only one, and I'm, [SPEAKER_03]: You know, you had to wait a minute because there was, you know, 70 people in there. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_03]: But he was great. [SPEAKER_03]: And then now there's this young guy in there and me and him I've had problems every year. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: He probably shouldn't be a bartender. [SPEAKER_04]: I said that the past two years and he's still there. [SPEAKER_04]: He's still there.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know how or why they must not ever be busy. [SPEAKER_03]: I don't drink anymore. [SPEAKER_03]: So I walk up. [SPEAKER_03]: It's the first night and I walk up. [SPEAKER_04]: It's all right. [SPEAKER_03]: I walk up and I'm like, hey, it is me, Emily, and Gary sitting down, Gary, you're listening. [SPEAKER_03]: Here's your shout out. [SPEAKER_03]: Love Gary is it out. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you, Gary.

[SPEAKER_03]: And like, can I get any kind of pop and he's like, you've got to go in the lobby and get that, which didn't Lobby, they had like the standalone like I cooler operators and that kind of but he's holding a soda gun.
[SPEAKER_03]: He is a server and he so I went out to Lobby and I acquired a whole bunch of soda pop and brought it back in and then the next night we brought our own cooler in a pop. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, since we couldn't get [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm like, but then the funniest thing was that same night, David had ordered a mixed drink of his wife. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, and then he got he got so much pop they gave him an extra pop. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, yeah, that was noise is drink was so strong.
[SPEAKER_04]: He asked for a pop. [SPEAKER_04]: So we could dilute it as he's drinking it in the bartender gave him one. [SPEAKER_04]: How's that work? [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_04]: I think it's funny. [SPEAKER_04]: I think it's funny that he just happened this is always a given trouble. [SPEAKER_03]: I was, I was nice. [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_03]: I just, I want to pop. [SPEAKER_04]: Or just something always just piss me off. [SPEAKER_03]: He can't.
[SPEAKER_04]: No, go out there and do it. [SPEAKER_04]: You're holding this, you have it in your hand. [SPEAKER_04]: I can't give it to you. [SPEAKER_04]: I can't sell it to you. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and he was a lot of half-flaster the pizza. [SPEAKER_03]: He did not. [SPEAKER_03]: It wasn't. [SPEAKER_03]: He bothers this year. [SPEAKER_03]: So he knew it wasn't worth it. [SPEAKER_03]: Yep. [SPEAKER_03]: He knew what that was like. [SPEAKER_03]: It wasn't winning. [SPEAKER_03]: That was a losing battle. [SPEAKER_03]: Yep. [SPEAKER_03]: No hotels gross. [SPEAKER_03]: If you guys ever go to KryptonCon, probably don't stay at the hotel.
[SPEAKER_03]: I just feel I feel bad saying it why it's we've given them three years and it's always grosser yeah I didn't see mold on the ceiling in the shower this year I didn't look well I looked I didn't see it did you look why in the toilet where there's that giant hole I didn't look there [SPEAKER_04]: There's seriously a it wasn't down there exploring. [SPEAKER_03]: No, because I sat on the toilet rattled. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it moves. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I'm quite a bit larger than you.
[SPEAKER_03]: Uh-oh, even though I've lost in the way I'm still like double your size. [SPEAKER_04]: No, what? [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if I'm just going to keep saying, uh-oh, it rattled. [SPEAKER_03]: And then like, oh, the toilet's loose. [SPEAKER_03]: And that could cause leaks and all kinds of stuff. [SPEAKER_03]: So I, when I'm done, I get up and I look behind the toilet and there's literally like a softball size hole in the wall. [SPEAKER_03]: It's an access point.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, for like neutral hats or something like that. [SPEAKER_03]: Right. [SPEAKER_03]: Like neutral hats, the big, the big muscrats. [SPEAKER_03]: The invasive gel water hats. [SPEAKER_03]: You can get it. [SPEAKER_04]: If it wasn't like a durian rat, like, look at that, the x or whatever you're squeezing in animal facts. [SPEAKER_03]: You could have put a dollar view. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it was a muscrat hallway.
[SPEAKER_03]: That's what it to them people coming in and out at the same time. [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_03]: Thanks change, you know We're trading door right there. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, I mean, he's they didn't all that want to make that clear. [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't see any rats No, there was nothing like that there it was bugs but they don't bad bugs. [SPEAKER_03]: We looked but like just normal like yes, you know like Sting bugs and like flies and that kind of stuff.
[SPEAKER_04]: All right there. [SPEAKER_04]: There's that the negative portion of our [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the hotel is the only negative part of it. [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, good. [SPEAKER_03]: So if you go, if you just had to go next year, what where did they say carry just told us somebody's I carry carry in Mark Muncie. [SPEAKER_04]: Aw, fantastic people. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you guys. [SPEAKER_04]: They got loved. [SPEAKER_03]: They got loved.
[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, you know, you know, was it the quality in down the road? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, down the road. [SPEAKER_04]: I know Tim and he stayed at the La Quinta and down the road. [SPEAKER_03]: There's a bunch of nicer hotels down the road. [SPEAKER_03]: We before this, we liked it because you could drink and walk up to your room.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: And this year, we're like, well, you know, we'll just, you know, try to give it one more shake, one last like if it was good, we changed the review on Google. [SPEAKER_03]: Gosh, they call, they called me for months and they're hairy. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, they called you hairy. [SPEAKER_03]: My name is my Google review is my name. [SPEAKER_03]: Not then they kept calling me dear hairy. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and they called on the phone called you hairy.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, they did. [SPEAKER_03]: And I was. [SPEAKER_04]: I wonder if they have you in their notes like that's just what they're big hairy guy. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and then like what's his name? [SPEAKER_04]: I he has hairy written down the manager. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, oh, the hotel did steal David Hardy's artwork. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that was kind of wild, wasn't it? [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and David didn't believe me. [SPEAKER_03]: He's like, you mean it kind of looks like my artwork?
[SPEAKER_04]: No, no, no, I think it's yours. [SPEAKER_03]: The hotel, and then, yeah, they had it all over the menu and all over their website and everything like that. [SPEAKER_03]: And with no credit, yeah, there is lookup royalty free art. [SPEAKER_03]: If you can't afford to use somebody's art, lookup royalty free art. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's fine. [SPEAKER_03]: More contact the artist. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, especially if they're going to be at your event.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yes. [SPEAKER_03]: a day was like if they just would have asked and put art by David Hardy like I wouldn't have cared yeah but now it's just like because they had a drink called the mock man for this weekend and they use his mothman art is his mothman art and everything all right that would have been so much advertising all right all right we're 10 minutes in almost in
[SPEAKER_03]: the hotels bad don't go to the hotel and all right but crypticon they took all of our towels even okay in the they got rid of all the towels in the in in the pool area oh okay i think that's a different that's a new policy thing i'm just saying policy sucks and well that's just some that's probably all hotels now all right just them but uh [SPEAKER_04]: Oh yeah, the pool is fun. [SPEAKER_04]: The hot tub is nice day, too.
[SPEAKER_04]: But okay, day one day one, um, I'm trying to think so we get there. [SPEAKER_04]: We set up. [SPEAKER_04]: We're in a new spot this year. [SPEAKER_03]: Wouldn't good. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, the spot wasn't good. [SPEAKER_04]: The spot wasn't good, but that's very sick. [SPEAKER_04]: So I'm very negative. [SPEAKER_04]: All right. [SPEAKER_04]: So let's try to keep it positive here. [SPEAKER_03]: There was a lot more vendors this year, I think. [SPEAKER_04]: I think so too.
[SPEAKER_04]: The number of vendors, sons of Appalachia was there making their crypto con debut. [SPEAKER_04]: As the sons of Appalachia? [SPEAKER_04]: Appalachia? [SPEAKER_04]: You know, we, we coin a new term this weekend or new. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: I think they need to rename at least that show or maybe just the character that we need to draw it. [SPEAKER_04]: Cheb, Jeb, I'm talking to you, Mr. Backwood, boogeyman. [SPEAKER_03]: I, I think they need to hunt this creature.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: The, oh. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so Sun's App Latsha. [SPEAKER_04]: This is also a good fodder for you for future episodes. [SPEAKER_04]: They need to hunt. [SPEAKER_03]: It's like our end of the year, see everybody. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, hang it out with all of our friends, all of our vending friends. [SPEAKER_04]: Yep, so that's the, I think for on the vendor side of it, the most fun part of crypticon. [SPEAKER_03]: A lot of amazing vendors.
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it's got a lot of heavy hitting vendors. [SPEAKER_04]: It does. [SPEAKER_04]: It does, which makes crypticon awesome. [SPEAKER_03]: and it's right before like Thanksgiving Christmas. [SPEAKER_03]: So if you need to find like Christmas gifts for a cryptid person, even if you're not into that stuff, it's great for that. [SPEAKER_03]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it's fantastic. [SPEAKER_03]: Great. [SPEAKER_03]: Uh, you go, excuse me, all kinds of options, uh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, I'm just a plus vendors all across the board. [SPEAKER_03]: It's a, uh, they're, I'm not a dog on the bunch. [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_04]: And, and I mean, a, draw our hat and the rain. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, not that we're on the better ones either. [SPEAKER_04]: But hey, we got cool shirts, I guess, but that's about it. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, even out of any booths, I've seen tons of people walking around with this poster. [SPEAKER_04]: But Jeff from Collins from Star Cruise Studios drew up like a the different types of big foot around the world. [SPEAKER_03]: That was a really cool one. [SPEAKER_03]: I so long a reason I didn't get it. [SPEAKER_03]: is, uh, me and Emily were not buying anything.
[SPEAKER_03]: That's we, um, I'm getting any order or anything like that. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: But, because we're moving to a much smaller house. [SPEAKER_03]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: Some acrylic paint. [SPEAKER_04]: And you're ready to paint during the whole weekend and you were going to paint for our friends and vendors. [SPEAKER_04]: You were going to make custom because I think art. [SPEAKER_03]: My goal is to paint people at the conference and see if anybody could tell me they were like our friends and you know some of the speakers vendors. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: It didn't, yeah, it didn't turn out that way in that paint manual.
[SPEAKER_04]: So which is I think you're better at that anyways, or crypto crypto crypto. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm what's the difference. [SPEAKER_04]: It's all the same thing. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: But so you painted a nice hopskinsville goblin and he always pretty good. [SPEAKER_03]: Which I get because the one sounded like really weird, and it was 100% willows screaming. [SPEAKER_03]: Just so you, I have three little kids. [SPEAKER_03]: They're not near this room, but they got some lungs on them. [SPEAKER_03]: They're one. [SPEAKER_03]: Two rooms weigh in a hallway. [SPEAKER_03]: So if you hear any weird noises, it's probably that.
[SPEAKER_03]: Just you know. [SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, this FYI. [SPEAKER_04]: So anyways, back to the Hopkinsville Goblin painting that the Medizumaniac, you ended up gifting into them. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, I took that, and if anyone doesn't know, Timothy Wayne Williams, when you see his art, if you know it, if you don't check it out, I call it the oil. [SPEAKER_04]: Very high quality.
[SPEAKER_04]: I wouldn't say impressionistic, but real, it's realism, uh, but with slight impressionistic, it's great. [SPEAKER_04]: It's quality is fantastic. [SPEAKER_04]: It's very classical. [SPEAKER_04]: It just, it looks good. [SPEAKER_04]: Like, uh, it's just, it's nice. [SPEAKER_04]: It's very, very nice. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, what I did is right over a shoulder when he was sitting at his booth, but he couldn't see me. [SPEAKER_04]: I snuck around.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I swapped one of his nice mountainous scenic paintings out with the Hopkinsville Goblin by mystery and I even slapped the price tag sticker on it and then I just left it there for about 15 minutes and it was literally right over Timothy shoulder and he didn't notice and I started to feel bad and I'm like a crap like
[SPEAKER_04]: He should have noticed by now, but he hasn't just because people are talking to me as busy and once you're not kind of in a groove in your booth you don't really notice what's going on around you as much, but so I did a circle me and Emily went around in a circle just to see if it and sure not it's still there and he's still sitting on his booth like I'll proud of all this stuff with his painting sitting over his shoulder of his, I mean, now this option can go goblin demon thing, I think we have a picture of it somewhere off to post it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, it's hilarious. [SPEAKER_04]: So I walked up to Timothy and I said, uh, man, I just keep hearing everybody. [SPEAKER_04]: I had to find it. [SPEAKER_04]: And he's like, find what? [SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, well, everyone out there keeps asking us about the Hopkinsville Goblin painting by Timothy Wayne Williams. [SPEAKER_04]: And he was like, Hopkinsville Goblin, he's like, you sure it was me? [SPEAKER_04]: And I said, your Timothy Wayne Williams aren't you?
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: And he's like, I don't remember what are you talking about. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't remember any. [SPEAKER_04]: He [SPEAKER_04]: And then he turns around and knows how he's showered and he finally sees it and he's like, oh my gosh, and yeah, he got a pretty good kick out of it, but he immediately asked her question. [SPEAKER_04]: I removed it from his booth and threw it in fire and then the hole and burnt it. [SPEAKER_03]: It was not happy with you.
[SPEAKER_03]: And then he blamed me and I'm like, I had nothing to do with it. [SPEAKER_03]: Painting it before I out. [SPEAKER_03]: J picked it up and took it away. [SPEAKER_04]: It was me Timothy. [SPEAKER_04]: I was the skimmer. [SPEAKER_04]: I couldn't help it. [SPEAKER_04]: Michael's mom brought it out of me. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm telling you. [SPEAKER_03]: She is a little She's devious. [SPEAKER_04]: She's devious. [SPEAKER_04]: She's devious. [SPEAKER_03]: Sneaky leaves.

[SPEAKER_04]: I'm feeling like an idiot because you were there's people like walking by and I'm He he he yeah a 35 year old man. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah underneath a table like just waiting So I see a pair of boots walk up right to the thing [SPEAKER_04]: And then I see another pair of boots, walk up right to the table and I hear Jake and run the second boots. [SPEAKER_04]: Come up, I hear Jake's voice start talking.
[SPEAKER_04]: So in my head, I see two pair of boots and I hear Jake's voice and I'm like, aha, this must be Jake. [SPEAKER_04]: So I reach my arm though. [SPEAKER_04]: Ah, and I grab the leg just start shaking them.
[SPEAKER_03]: and any grab jakes like i grabbed his wife's leave in the end did not flinch didn't do nothing reaction literally i was sent in there she just like there and she's like that's weird that's like that's odd yeah and i'm like whoever's under the table is an odd duck [SPEAKER_04]: And I popped up, and then I realized, oh, that wasn't Jake's boots or his legs. [SPEAKER_04]: And she's like, I'm a school teacher that I don't get surprised like that.
[SPEAKER_04]: And like, well, I feel like him idiot. [SPEAKER_04]: I hope you two enjoy your day. [SPEAKER_04]: And that was bad. [SPEAKER_04]: But funny. [SPEAKER_04]: It was, was Emily with me?
[SPEAKER_04]: I think she was. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, but we're getting on the other way to go back up to the room after I think we were getting something back there bringing it down. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't remember. [SPEAKER_04]: But we're getting on and a couple is just getting on right before us. [SPEAKER_04]: So what I followed them in there and I said, you mind if we squeeze on here with you and this guy turn around, just looks at us and goes, no. [SPEAKER_04]: You're not allowed.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm like, well, we're coming on anyways, like, I thought it was funny because the way he just said it, they just said it kind of funny. [SPEAKER_04]: And a fake mean way. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_04]: Like you're not welcome here. [SPEAKER_04]: Basically, what turn I ended up it was Chris. [SPEAKER_04]: Chris is wife Cory. [SPEAKER_04]: Telling me I couldn't ride the elevator with them. [SPEAKER_04]: But then it happened to get later the next day.
[SPEAKER_04]: I was getting on the elevator. [SPEAKER_04]: I was on first and guess who followed me in there. [SPEAKER_04]: Chris and his wife. [SPEAKER_04]: So I told them no. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm Patty and George. [SPEAKER_04]: So you're going to be hearing from Patty and George on our show in the future. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, the only teaser. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to give you a George was in an article and he seen some cool stuff.
[SPEAKER_03]: Not only was he in an article, he has proof that he was in an article. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yes. [SPEAKER_03]: And he went back and he's like, went and got. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, he went back. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, so he has this jacket from his was going to see what the proof was. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, I'll just show me then.
[SPEAKER_04]: I was had a secret, too, but now I, you know, whatever, I'm not going to say he just had a jacket that was had the design of the, I guess the McMurdo station. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, McMurdo station, uh, and he was in the winter over group. [SPEAKER_04]: So I'll post that whenever we have George on the show, maybe that'll be like the cover or something for the episode. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_04]: It's pretty sweet. [SPEAKER_04]: But no, uh, he shared some awesome stuff.
[SPEAKER_04]: I really enjoyed talking to him in his wife. [SPEAKER_04]: And then his wife, uh, I guess you could say she's sensitive to, uh, [SPEAKER_04]: Spirit. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, that was crazy. [SPEAKER_04]: That was wild.
[SPEAKER_04]: She. [SPEAKER_04]: I'll share that later on the episode with them guys as well too because I might have to just have her on as well But yeah, she she told me some stuff about me and people around me and my family that I've never told anybody before and not and this world or this space on the podcast So that was pretty wild That was pretty wild an event from about 22 years ago and she was hitting details on the head.
[SPEAKER_04]: So I was like [SPEAKER_04]: Cool, and now it was really cool though, it was nice, I guess. [SPEAKER_04]: He scratched his eye, confirmed. [SPEAKER_04]: Probably pretty bad from this honestly. [SPEAKER_04]: It was probably from it looked bad. [SPEAKER_04]: It did. [SPEAKER_04]: It looked really bad. [SPEAKER_03]: You were worried for him.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, we were and but I think it was from all the master changes. [SPEAKER_04]: He scratched it on one of them. [SPEAKER_04]: He really did. [SPEAKER_04]: He changed his costume about five or six times and he was that the Jason mask was pretty cool. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if he saw it But it didn't see that one. [SPEAKER_04]: It was pretty cool. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, uh, okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm trying to remember anything else from, but overall, you know, crypticon, we had a good time. [SPEAKER_04]: We had a great time seeing everybody. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if we'll be vending again next year. [SPEAKER_04]: I know it'll be a busy time of the year for us, uh, but uh, I guess we'll just stay tuned.
