The word "Church" is not in the Bible.
Episode description
Little did many know or realize that the word “Church” is not in the Bible, the original Bible.
In the popular word of Jesus, "I will build my church," the word translated as "Church" is "Ekklesia" in the original Greek manuscript. The correct translation is "THE ASSEMBLY." Many think that it really doesn't matter (Church or Assembly) but it does when you consider the fact that Church existed during the time Jesus made this statement. He clearly chose the word Ekklesia (Assembly) over the Greek word, Kuriakon (Church).
According to the Oxford Dictionary, the origin of the word “Church” is from Old English cir(i)ce, cyr(i)ce, related to Dutch Kerk and German Kirche, based on medieval Greek Kurikon, from Greek Kuriakon (dōma) ‘Lord’s (house)’, from kurios ‘master or lord’.
It was called:
- Kirk in Scotland,
- Cherche in Old English.
The pronunciation metamorphosed to chereche, chiriche, chirche in the middle English. Then “Churche,” and “Church” in modern English as we know it today.
There are stack differences between the Church and the Assembly:
- People GO TO CHURCH But Believer's don't GO TO CHURCH because they are the "Church."
- The Church is governed by Titled Priests, the Assembly is led by Elders without titles but functions
- The style of meeting for Church is Clergy-Laity but the Assembly meets by Koinonia (Fellowship) - participation by all.
- The Church meet in buildings which is considered the "house of God, the Assembly meet in houses.
- The church celebrates many pagan festivals like Christmas, Easter, and so on, The Assembly does not.
When all other religions were forced to convert to Christian religion by Emperor Constantine, the powerful priests came into the assembly and continued their pagan practices as Christians without being born again or converted. When the leaders of the True Assembly objected to this, they unleashed terror on them. They persecuted and killed many while others fled. They then took control of the Assembly appropriating titles to themselves as they fit. They labelled those who opposed them as heretics, burned the Bibles, fed many to wild animals, changed meetings from houses to civic buildings and changed the style of meeting from Fellowship to Clergy-Laity system where no one could talk or participate. Owning a Bible was punishable by death. This is the time the Bible was tampered with and many pagan doctrines and festivals were introduced into the Bible in the name of translating it. That is the Church we have today. Does the True Assembly still exists?
