For over five millennia nations and states would seek to ruthlessly dominate their opponents, and no post-agrarian culture was immune from the temptations of imperial practice. Using war and colonisation, states acted without restraint.

But by the 20th Century imperialism was under serious attack s a state practice. This podcast explores why old imperialism became so unfashionable.
