Psalm 23
Because God is the Good Shepherd, I Can Trust That . . .
- He provides every good thing I need. (vv.1-3)
“For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor. No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” Psalm 84:11
- All I need is found in all Christ
- He never leads me where His presence doesn’t go before me and remain. (v.4)
- Wherever He leads, He is always with me. (Isaiah 43:2)
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me . . .” Psalm 23:4a
- I have nothing to fear in the shadow of death because Jesus Christ took the sting of death and overcame.
- I have nothing to fear because His Word and His Spirit are my comfort, my guide, and my protection.
“Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4b
- Even in the most difficult circumstances I can delight in His goodness because of His grace.
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” Psalm 23:5
- He relentlessly pursues me with His goodness and steadfast love.
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life . . .” Psalm 23:6
- He leads me to the hope of dwelling with Him forever.
“And I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” Psalm 23:6
