I got to pen it up in my office in Indiana. I'm looking at it right now. Indiana with the Bison Pennant. They're fantastic and they want to help you out too. 1st order use promo code HOME 23. purchase. My wife just purchased the Bison Tshirt, will be wearing it shortly at our next football game we go to. James man. Welcome back my friend. How you doing? Doing great. Had a good week last week, Scott. We went eight and five including our lock of the week, Bowling Green State covering for us. So, feeling good? Let's keep it rolling. Yeah, and Michigan has not covered a line yet this year, right? They are Owen three against the
spread so far this year. Will they keep it up this week? Stay tuned. Well, they're good. It's going to be early because they're they're one of the earlier games, so let's get right to it. We have a full slate, mostly Big 10 games except for us and Illinois and Nebraska. So a couple here and there. We'll start with Wisconsin, the Badgers traveling to Purdue two and one versus one and two and Purdue is a 5 1/2 point underdog at home. This line has moved.
It started around 7/7 and 1/2 and it's gone down. My buddy Boiler Bucks. Is all over the boilers at getting a touchdown. I think he's mistaken there and at 5 1/2 give me the Badgers. I don't think pretty is very good. Why do you say that then being one and two, then losing to Fresno State? Why do you think they're not very good, James? Yeah, well, it's a combination of things, you know? I mean, like, the defense can't stop anybody.
And that's fine if you have a potent offense, and their offense seems to have, like, completely forgotten how to
function. I I think they looked into that win against the not very good Virginia Tech team and I think it's going to be a long season for the Boilers and I think Wisconsin, who hasn't looked great themselves, but I think they're going to start to find their rhythm now when at Illinois. Purdue's head coach had success against the Badgers, but this is a new Badger coaching staff and
everything. So yeah, I'll give you the Badgers. I feel good about my pick of Indiana beating Purdue in the bucket game. We'll just say that I'm. Starting to feel way better about it? Yeah. So all right. Next up, another big line. Excuse me, another big line. Don't know if Rutgers is going to be or Michigan. Sorry is going to be able to cover this one, but we have Michigan at home for Rutgers. Rutgers, also three, and O Michigan, a 24 point favorite.
Yeah, that is a stupid line, isn't it? 24 points is a ton. Go ahead and give me those 24 points and I'll take Rutgers. Michigan hasn't covered yet this year, but Harbaugh is back. And we have to remember Harbaugh what the spread is. He knows exactly what the spread is. I thought it was a four-game suspension, wasn't it? Oh, I thought he was back this week. That's all right. Keep talking, I'll. I'll search that. I thought it was a. Well.
When he does come back, he is very conscious of what the spread is and he likes to cover the spread, so he has done that before. So that worries me a little bit. The 24 points is a lot of points and Rutgers has a fairly decent defense. I'm not sure they'll be able to score a whole lot. I'm not sure they'll be able to score at all. So the under also looks to be in play here at 44. Forget everything I said. Always listen to James. It is a three-game suspension.
First I thought it was 4 for some reason, so I I apologize. Yeah, but I will take those points and I kind of like the under here too. I might do something, something with that and a teaser. Yeah, it might be all of the getting ready for fantasy football, all the players, Like there's a bunch of guys who were suspended for two games, four games, and you know, guys like Jonathan Taylor are out and then a new hardball was out. So a lot of lot of suspensions
going on in the football world. The three games, You're right, Carball's back. So all right, Next up, one of the non Big 10 games we have Florida Atlantic at Illinois. Illinois is a 15 1/2 point favorite. If you watch this football game, you really love football right? I'm going to go under 45 1/2 here. Illinois offense is pretty bad. I don't know much about FAU. 2 / 2 touchdowns seems like a lot for Illinois to cover.
But I like the under here, a team that you know a lot about because they lose you money every single week. The Nebraska Cornhuskers are hosting Louisiana Tech. Nebraska is a 21 point favorite at home. It's a lot of points for a one and two team. So they won us money last week, so we'll give them credit for that. But I love 3 touchdowns from Law Tech here. In fact, I think that's probably the safest bet on the board this week. So give me Law Tech plus three touchdowns.
I've got two questions for you in this next one we got Maryland at Michigan State and Michigan State is a 7 1/2 point underdog at home. The over under is 52 with with Tagley of Ola. You got to always look at the over under. Tell me. What you like in this game? And then I have another question for you. I think Maryland handily covers 7 1/2. I mean, I don't even think it's going to be close. I here's what I think it'll happen. It'll be close to like 1/4
quarter and 1/2. And then Maryland's offense will start to function again, and they'll just blow the doors off the Michigan State. I think Maryland covers by 10 points. Go ahead and lock that in as the bet of the week right there. Oh okay, we got to get a sound effect for that. Yeah, we we should bring back the harmonica. If only it would work. I have I have a sound board so we can do like. But you can't hear God Okay. Well, we'll have to find
something better than that. Did you hear that? Were you able to hear that? I can hear like an air horn. Yeah, yeah, yeah. There you go. All right, fantastic. Yeah, that's that's the Super annoying air horn sound. Yeah, we got to find something better than it's got to be on your end, man. Anyway, here's my other question for you. So Michigan State has had some issues at football coach they are searching right now and I have a a good friend who's a
Michigan State fan. He was sending to a a text thread. I have with some friends about like you know Urban my like all the all the fans of Michigan State want Urban Meyer any kind of joking about that. I'll ask you this it's totally off the cuff. Who if you had to think like, who do you think might be their coach? And more importantly, as an I U fan in the Michigan having to play them, who would concern you the most if they hired as a coach?
Like I don't think Urban Meyer would go there, but. There's a world around I don't think they'd hire. What if they brought Nick Saban home? Yeah, like in in the reality. That would scare the hell out of me, Yeah, and the reality of things that could really happen, like who? Who would concern you most being their next coach? Oh man, I think if they went like the Deon route, the Deon Sanders route, somebody like that, I know thinking of who that person might be would be
tough. But if they went a route like that, it might concern me a bit. I don't know if there's. I think Dion's a 101. I don't think there's anybody else. Like him that has, he has and you know, Michigan State, they've got such a fertile recruiting area that they're always going to be kind of decent. You know, if they ever had a nick save and stick around, they can be a dangerous program.
But I can't think of anybody. I mean, Urban Meyer's not going there, and they're not going to hire Urban either like that would be. A Yeah. The other thing is who wants to go there? You know, I mean, it's not the most attractive job. It is when they're paying $80 million. But yeah, I hear you. Well, yeah, I mean, that's true. Yeah. I I mean, do they have any famous alum, you know, that you know are known football quantities? Besides Bubba Smith, So funny.
I was thinking of Bubba Smith. Like, how's that police Academy money working out for maybe they can get, you know, Steve Guttenberg. All right, well, we'll see. It's going to be interesting. But I don't know, it was funny seeing the Urban Meyer thing, which isn't going to happen. But there was like like, I it's funny, but it's like, I wouldn't, I wouldn't be happy with that as an I U fan. I would not be happy with that either.
No. Yeah, I I don't you and I either talked about on or off the air of somebody else. Like I I I was having that discussion about like you know, every, you know, guy, like you know, hiring Dion would have been awesome for a lot of schools. But I think, you know, based on the fact that he actually did have real coaching success and he was, you know, one of the best cornerbacks of all time. Like Dion really is a one of
one. And like, I don't know who else fits that profile, but I think you're going to see a lot of teams over the next three to four years make mistakes trying to hire who they think is the next Dion. Yeah, no, I I agree with that. And, you know, I mean, because he was, not only was he super gifted athletically, but he's also a brash loudmouth, you know, like and and those two things don't often lead to great coaches.
But anyway, looks like he does. Let's go to our our, our Hoosiers. Our Hoosiers have a solid line. They are playing Akron. They are 17 point favorites at home. Give us your thoughts on this and any thoughts you want from the Louisville game and overall thoughts of Louisville because we're not going to see him again because we we cancelled that that contract. Yeah, well, that's fine. We can cancel that contract. We need to be playing crappy teams like Akron, who is a very
crappy team. We should cover this, all right? We absolutely should. So I would actually lay the points here. I like the under 46 1/2. I think our defense is really going to hold Akron down. Akron only got 3 points against Kentucky last week. So I I expect us to hold them into single digits, no more than 10. And then Can you imagine a Walt Bell offense putting up 35 points plus?
Yeah. So I think that's probably probably we're going to be looking at is the under I think who just probably win 20. 8 to 10 and I mean that's my guess 31 to 10:00 somewhere in there, but I definitely think the under hits. Any thoughts on Louisville game before we move on? I was encouraged by the second-half. I think Dave and Jackson settled down. He found himself and and so I'm
very encouraged by that. Now let the guy play freaking football like, you know, take the reins off Walt Bell. Let him do do his thing because they've got great skill position players. They do. They get some real threats on that team. I'm not a fan of the black jerseys, though I will say that coming up for this weekend's game, are they wearing? I did not see that announcement. They wearing the blacks. They're wearing black jerseys, yes.
So those are, unless Antoine Randle L and Levron Williams are walking through that door. I don't want to see those black jerseys. Are they doing Lowville or Oval logo as well? I did not see the Oval, no. It'd be interesting to see if they're going like black helmets with the with the pitchfork like I'm. I'm see what they do. That's what it is. Black helmets. OK, so that's. I don't. Know if it's the black helmets, but I know I saw the pitchfork on the helmet.
I can't remember what color the helmet was. OK, this is, this is insulating podcast, I know. Yeah, neither of us know anything about anything we're talking about. How often? We're just guessing. I I do. I will say that. Yeah. Just making S up. I will say this. I like it. I it's one of the things that Kevin Wilson brought to Indiana that wasn't talked about enough
but was fun. Like I remember I I had a spreadsheet ones keeping track of all the different uniforms we use throughout a season and like we we use like 8 different uniform combinations. I really like that like I liked. And then you know, for a while, I'm a stickler for only school colors. I'm a stickler for. I only want the school colors on the uniform. I don't want additional colors thrown in there.
And and so that that's my sticking point against the black jerseys, because black is not a university color. Did you like the Chrome striped helmets? No, I thought those things were hideous. Just hard. Disagree. Those are fantastic. Those are now. I did love the helmet that had the state of Indiana logo with the the torch with the stars around it on the side of the helmet. That is my favorite helmet that they did. That was multiple uniforms is great. You can have some you like, some
you don't like. We can all, we can all come together on that. That's true. All right, let's, let's move on. We're going to row the boat. We're going to talk about the Minnesota Gophers going to Northwestern. By the way, Northwestern is like, hey, this is great. Like let's talk more about Michigan State. Like no need to look at our issues here. Like let's just all focus on Michigan State like that. Northwestern was kind of the problem child for like 2 weeks and then it was over.
But Northwestern is at home and they are at 11 1/2 point underdog. Yeah, with a a ridiculously low total of 39 1/2 which I actually think will probably go under so. But I also I like Minnesota to cover 11 1/2. Northwestern is pretty dreadful. This is another one. They won't get double digit points against Minnesota. So I I think the unders in play and I think Minnesota covers. All right now we have what would be the marquee Big 10 game on CBS. Iowa going to Penn State.
Penn State Wow is a I mean if we're playing guess the lines I would have gotten this way wrong. I was ranked 24th which is kind of like they always are. They always start 3-4 and oh, and they're always ranked Penn State, a 15 point favorite at home. Crazy stupid line here. I love I would get right those points. I mean that's I, I, I, I mean it's a night game in Happy Valley. Okay. But fifteen points? That's a lot of fricking points. And I was a good football team.
That defensive there is, is for real? Well, eventually yes, they struggle, but oh those fucking cowards. Last week they went for a meaningless touchdown on 4th and goal. Those sons of bitches cost me money. Sorry, that was a rant. I had to go on about Brian Ference. All gamblers go through it. Yeah, so. But I like Iowa getting all those points. Also the over unders at 40. I like the over here, an Iowa over. I'm not going to play it, but I do like it.
All right. You know, You know, I don't know if Penn State's heard about this, that that, you know, those night games, they could maybe wear white and it'd be kind of cool. It called a white out or something. I don't know. They ever talk about that? I don't know. Be interesting, All right, The other marquee matchup. Not Big 10, but definitely a marquee matchup. You have Ohio State ranked 6th in the country. Playing at Notre Dame ranked 9th in the country.
Notre Dame is a three-point underdog at home. This is a night game on NBC. So this is really a battle of which coworkers are going to be more annoying on Monday, right? So is it going to be your Notre Dame coworkers or your Ohio State coworkers? I got a feeling on Monday I'm going to be annoyed by my Notre Dame coworkers when they pull off the upset and beat the Buckeyes in South Bend. Great. I love the more annoying
coworker. Yeah. Well, that's what it is. I mean, I've worked with a lot of Ohio State and Notre Dame fans and it's annoying. So yeah, I think the yeah, I don't know. Notre Dame looks pretty decent. I think they're passing attack is going to be better than anything Ohio State's seen so far this year because they haven't really been tested against a good passing game and West Kentucky, when they had time to throw the football, was able to move it on them.
I think Sam Hartman will be able to do the same. And I think Notre Dame defense is tough enough to stop the Ohio State running attack, or at least slow it down enough, and then you'll get some sort of Catholic magic towards the end and Notre Dame will pull off the upset. I think that's, yeah. I'm not even sure it's an. Upset, but not really, no. I mean, and Notre Dame, South Bend at night. Talk about another tough place to play, You know, I mean, that's going to be rocking. No. And I'm.
I'm still not sure unless Ryan Day has really held his cards close to the vest. Nothing Ohio State has done has really impressed me yet. So we'll have to wait and see. Let's go to our let's go to our fun team. USC is not, is it next week? They're playing. I think they're playing Colorado this week. Is it next week? I think it's next week. It's like 9 in the morning or something, Yeah, but so this week they're playing at Arizona State.
Big line for a conference. Game they are 34 1/2 point favorites. What'd you say, 34 1/2? I have 34 1/2 on the. Point sweet. We went down. So yeah, give me that. I'm definitely taking that. Trust me, they're going to cover this. A SU is trash. Yes they will come with the over under 62 this may be 62 to nothing so like take take Southern Cal lay those points. I'm like what is the will you bet a dollar on per exact a score 62? Nothing. Just for me. I can do that like 1000 to one
or something at this point. Yeah, we can do that. Watch them like, well, 62 to nothing means they miss APAT somewhere along the way, right? Well, there's a lot of stuff that's got to. It's not just that there's a lot of scoring between 0 and 62, so it could be in. This field goal, it could be, yes. That's one way to get. Yes. All right. You know what we should do? We should start looking at Colorado each week, right? Because everybody else is talking about Colorado.
We might as well too, right? I I love it. So where are are they ranked? Yeah, they're playing Oregon this weekend. Or Oregon as most people call it. But yeah, there they are. Colorado like that. Wow. They're I mean so so the the guy Hunter is out which I guess but it's like this is a wild line. I've not obviously looked at this yet so they're at Oregon. Oregon's good. They're 21 point underdogs in Oregon. I mean I would, I'd take Colorado and the points, right.
But look at what the over under is 70 1/2. Take the over, my friend. This thing. Oh my God, yes. Yes. Because without, without Hunter, Colorado's not going to be able to stop Oregon at all. I mean, Oregon will just move all over them and I I think that Colorado will still get some points. But yeah, I like the over here. I like adding Colorado to our mix. Let's do that. Sweet, all right. Are those the lines give us that you had any good parlays you're
putting together? So take the three best bets I had today and we're going to tease them. All right. So we're going to do a six point teaser on this three leg with Maryland. So that'll be Maryland -1 1/2 and you'll get Under 50. Michigan, Rutgers, and you'll have Law, Tech, plus 27. And so that'll play out plus 160 odds. Depending on the site, you use some pay 1 + 170. So, all right, awesome, James, It's fun. We're we're here, man. We made it to the actual
conference schedule. Now this is fun. I'm excited. Next week, it's all just conference games here on out. Yes, the the I U seasonal nadir begins. Unfortunately, yes, although we. Still have it's when you look at this schedule it's interesting like I I I'm not sure you're going to have as many people like check out because you look at the back end of the schedule it's like Illinois, Michigan State and Purdue. Like there's there's three wins sitting there.
If you get one win along the way, you pick up that Rutgers win like a ball is is going to be on the table until midnovember. Yes, and that that might be the worst thing of all. It's it's just a dangling over our heads like the Sword of Damocles. It's fair enough. But the last two years we've
lost hope. Like it's that's it's it's tough when your last couple games like we have Michigan, Penn State and you know with like you know Ohio State at the end there, it's like oh there's three losses and it's just like the math gets. Really hard. Really quick. Yeah. I mean, if we lose to Akron this weekend, I guess we we'd have a different conversation. But you know, we win. And you know, we're starting to,
you know. You got to put together Akron and Indiana State are in that same boat like you. You lose. You lose one of those games, you lose to Akron, you got real problems like then then that's a 5 alarm fire. Like you got to win. You just. This is a chance for Walt Bell to try some things out. It would be nice. But let's see, You know, I mean, this is the defense. They're going to be able to do what they want against.
And so it's a chance to really Rev up the engine, see what this baby can do. Let's see. Page three of the offensive playbook would be nice. All right, James, it's been no more triple options. Yeah. No, no, no. No more option. We don't do it well. All right, James, Look forward to a great week of betting. Check him out on Twitter at Crimson Cash Crimson Cast 260. He will post all of those. I want to thank you for joining and thank all of you guys for listening out there For James.
This is Scott for another episode of Crypt and Cash signing off.
