All right, folks, welcome back to Crimson Cash. No sound effects. We're going to keep this real short and sweet. I'm still in Dominican, coming home tomorrow. It's going to be a long day for myself tomorrow. Not that anybody cares, but I have James with me to do Crimson Cash. We owe it to our fans and listeners to give them the bets. Plus, we got to restart the Hoosier hot streak because I was screwed. Us right, man. Yes, and Rutgers. That was it, 2 Yeah, yeah,
unfortunately. So I'm hoping that you the game you pick allows me to bet on Saturday. But let's let's get to let's get we're gonna keep this one real short and sweet because I have one of the beautiful days a Dominican waiting here in front of me. We have our first game is Friday. Rutgers is at USC and USC is 13 1/2 point favorite. Man, that that sucks for Rutgers. They've had a they've had a good year and I don't think USC has.
But anyway, go ahead. Well, we successfully saw it was going to happen to USC last week. We thought they wouldn't cover. They they didn't because they do like to keep games close and they lost. So is that right? Yeah, they lost. So we've got Rutgers and a 56 1/2 is the total here. So the under on this game, I don't think Rutgers is going to be able to score against USC. They can't move the ball against anybody, it looks like. So yeah, give me the under here.
That's wild considering last year was like all over is for USC. Yeah, I know. All right, Next up we have Nebraska. The just again, I just want to take a moment. You and I haven't talked since the the Nebraska ass kicking. I'm, I'm still annoyed at the little bit of discussion of like, you know, well, Nebraska office isn't that good. So India hasn't played anybody. It's like, dude, if they would have beaten us, they would be ranked this year, this week,
maybe six and one. The idea of like, we haven't played a ranked team. It's like, well, partially because we're beating teams. Like if Nebraska would have won, they would have been ranked. So just slightly annoyed at that. I think we all are. But let's just keep kicking ass and moving forward and winning games. Anyway, Nebraska, who's now five and two, I shall add, is at Ohio State, and Ohio State is a 25
1/2 point. Favorite with an over under of 48 1/2 on this game too, so that's real low for a 25 1/2 point spread. I think Nebraska is actually going to show up this week. I think their defense will show much better than they did last week. I will take them plus 25 1/2 points. Wow. I think I. I we'll talk about that when we get to the game, but I'm not, I'm actually, I don't think you're crazy. All right, Next up we we'll leave Washington for the end.
Next up we have Illinois at Oregon, another wild line for a team that's ranked 20th in the country. Oregon is a 21 1/2 point favorite at home. I just clicked the wrong button and that's wild for a team. Illinois is, I can't remember a time. I mean, I know it's on the road, but a team ranked in the top 20 giving up 21 1/2 points even on a road game. But anyway, that's where we're at. Oregon 21 1/2 point favorites. Crazy line, stay away from that spread. But what I do like is the total
here of 54 1/2. I think it goes over. OK, dude, you're like over under totals right now. That's that's your world. I had a few of them this week. Yeah, there's a few of those that I like better than the spreads, and there's one game where I like both, so OK, I'm. Going to try and play the game here, see which one it is. So we have Northwestern at Iowa. Iowa is a 14 point favorite at home. I don't think we're under of 37.
And a half 7 1/2. I think you like both of these because I don't, I'll just I don't, I learn to let you talk first. I'll just, I'm not sure what Iowa has done to earn a 14 point favoritism at home. I thought Northwestern was pretty good when we played them. Anyway, go ahead. You are prescient Scott. I do like the cats here. Plus 2 touchdowns, yes, I also love 37 1/2 / I I think the over's going to hit on this game, but yeah, I really like 2 touchdowns there.
Why? Why on earth is Northwestern a 14 point underdog? Beats me because I mean Iowa did not look great against Michigan State. Maybe it's no bounce back factor they're assuming, I don't know. I mean I. Mean when you're betting, you know, you got to think some of these lines are meant to get your average better to bet something stupid or, you know, or your casual better to bet something's, you know, like, oh, I don't know much, but yeah, give me Iowa, you know, and they
just toss them on, you know. I mean, is, is Northwestern the best team that we've played in the Big 10? Like in the games that we've played, it's either Northwestern or Maryland who's given us the best I. Think Maryland was probably better. I don't know, man, Northwestern kept the game in longer and their quarterback frightened me, but I I hear you. It's as a wild line. Anyway, we'll continue. Next up, we have aforementioned Maryland at Minnesota.
By the way, I think Minnesota, we should have row, row row your boat as the song. When I get back home and I have the soundboard. I think I think that's a good song for them. Just throwing that out there right now. But for this game, Minnesota is a four point favorite at home. Yeah, I like the Gophers in this one to cover Maryland traveling on the road and they have not looked spectacular. They had a big win last week at home, maybe a little bit of a let down game here.
Give me the Gophers. I'm going to hold on. I want to pull up their schedule. OK, Next up we have Penn State at Wisconsin. Penn State is a 6 1/2 point favorite and I just want to take a moment and again, I think we're all IU fans here, but just for all the talk about IU playing nobody, let's look at Penn State schedule. They played West Virginia, then Bowling Green, then Kent State. They played Illinois.
OK, fine. They played UCLAUSC, now they're playing Wisconsin. Maybe USC is similar to Maryland. You know, Illinois is a ranked team, but I'm not sure how like are they any better or worse than Nebraska? Just again, look around Kyle and like they're ranked third in the country Penn State and no one's bitching about their record. Just I think we are all salty at this because I'm tired of the goal posts always Anyway, let's let's stop and make what we're an IU podcast.
We can make it about IU anyway. We anyway. Yeah, Penn State 6 1/2 point favorites on the road. OK, being that we are an IU centric podcast here, we we have a definite rooting interest in this game. We really, really want Wisconsin to win this game. I actually do think they can pull off the upset.
They've hooked really good the last few weeks, and I'm still not sold on Penn State. I'm if our jerseys were plain blue and white helmets, we'd be ranked third, you know, or first, probably because we've looked. So we really want Wisconsin to win this game. I do think they cover the 6 1/2. I'd rather have it as 7 1/2. So if you want to buy a point, don't beat yourself up over it, but if you want to put a few bucks on Wisconsin on the money line, I think stranger things have happened.
This is a big this is a big game. Oh, no. Don't tell me we lost James. It's not my connection. It's his. There we go. You're back. Oh, sorry, you're the Dominican. I'm the one screwing up here. So. Yeah, come on, man. Where was it? The US Internet. Wisconsin, you know, fickle he, I thought he was going to be on the hot seat, you know, early on in the season because they did not look good. But they're starting to look a lot better and this is a huge game for them.
It's a night game. Camp Randall. I got a feeling that place is going to be rocking. So give me the Badgers to at least cover here. And I'm, I'm with you on it being a big game for IU fans to root for Wisconsin because, you know, you look. At it, it's the Big 10 championship game. It's a very narrow window because we don't play Penn State or Oregon. Oregon plays nobody, but they play do play Penn State down the road.
So we need to we need to find a way we can lose to Ohio State and still make the Big 10 championship game. And though that's a pretty narrow window right there, and it's going to require something like Wisconsin losing or beating Penn State and then Penn State beating Ohio State or something like that. So that's going to be our path that, you know, we, we can still make it even if we lose to Ohio State. But damn it, we may. Well, you're right if if Wisconsin beats Ohio State,
sorry there. If Wisconsin beats Penn State and Penn State beats Ohio State, that gives us a path to get to the Big 10 championship game with a loss to Ohio State. Correct. Yeah, no, you're, you're 100% right. All right. Last game in the schedule for the Big 10, we have Michigan State at Michigan. Michigan is a 5 point favorite. Man, Michigan is falling apart quickly. Curious your thoughts on this one. This line was at 3 1/2 earlier last night, so that's gone up to
5I 40 1/2 the total. Something makes me think this has underwritten all over it. So that's what I'm going to stay away. This is a Crimson catch. Stay away. This is a rivalry game. Both of these teams kind of suck, but they've got some pieces that can work sometimes. Just stay away from this nonsense. You don't need any part of this. My my buddy who's a Michigan State fan, he said he got, I think he got the future on this like beginning of the year.
They'll have, you know, future games way out. I think Michigan was like a 24 point favorite in this game as a futures before the season started or 21 or somewhere in that range. He said he bought like put like 10 bucks on it on Michigan State plus like 21. So good on him because I think that's that's a very, very good line to have. This one is. I'm not sure what's going to happen. Speaking of great lines, before we get to IU, there's one other game out there this weekend that I love.
The line on. Navy's getting 2 touchdowns against Notre Dame. That's ridiculous to me. I am. Hampering Navy to to cover that spread. So I actually got it at 14 1/2 and I, I put three times my normal bet on it because I feel very good about that one. OK next game I feel really, really, really good about. I put 3 1/2 times my normal bet. And that brings us to our IU Washington game. Washington coming to Indiana, Indiana, it sounds like. I'm curious what you've heard on Curtis Rourke.
Sounds like Curtis Rourke is not going to play. I've been a little bit out of pocket. I want to know what you know about that. But right now, Indiana is a 6 1/2 point favorite at home. With an over under 53 1/2 on this game, which we might. Respect. I use offense. We scored more than that by ourselves last week, so just keep that in mind. I I think the the team total over is also in play here. I think it was 27 1/2 last I looked at it. So I think that's certainly in
play. But I think the Hoosiers are easily going to cover the 6 1/2. It's gone. I I think the Curtis work injury is priced into this, right. So this would have been a higher line if he were playing this game. He's not, I don't know anything about it. All I know is it's a thumb injury. I could see blood in the one picture I saw. And if it's his thumb got ripped out. I once dropped a hot tub on my foot and my I lost my big toenail completely. It's not pleasant to have happen.
And it just like you heard it like in stupid ways. And so for somebody gripping a football, that could be really tough, I would think. But he can always do what I did and just wrap some duct tape around it and go on about your day, so. It's so funny 'cause last year. What the training staff's doing, they've got some T Rex tape. They've taped that bitch up. Last year on fall break I dropped a trundle bed on my foot. Same thing like second day in and it hurt like a mother.
I ended up like there was a huge blood clot underneath the toenail. I like cut the nail, released some blood. It was like 2 days later. It felt great, but I lost the toenail as like entire toenail. It's a weird process having your toenail grow back in it. It hurts for a while. It's very tender. So yeah, if he ripped his fingernail off, that would
absolutely suck. My fear is I don't know if there's a broken bone or any kind of, you know, stretching or, you know, broken bone would be the end of the season. I I don't think that's the case because they haven't named that but. They could've just split it. I mean, he could've just, you know, gotten a split, you know, that required a couple stitches. And if it's just a couple stitches, well, OK, maybe that's different.
Or maybe, you know, he split half his nail off or you know, I mean, there's all sorts of machinations, you know, that we could go through without knowing. What we do know is Tavin Jackson looked really good when he came in the game. In fact, I didn't even notice he was in the game until like a few plays in. I'm like, wait a minute, that's not right. And I. And so, you know, he that's how good he looked and he was able to run things. He's a very, very competent quarterback.
I recommend to anybody out there. I saw a video of it was Jake, but breaking down Tavin Jackson and and and how the IU offense would operate without Curtis work this week. And it was it was really enlightening. And I think the Hooters are going to be in a good place because they can move the football on the ground. And I think actually you might see some more run option with Tavin Jackson because he has
that kind of ability to do that. And he broke off what, a 21 yard run, you know, against Nebraska. So I think you'll maybe see a little bit more of that. I think the Hoosiers cover this spread with ease. 6 1/2. This is it's almost disrespectful after what they've done. I mean, they have. They have not won a game by less than 14 points all year. No, it's a fairpoint and you know, I, I, I take solace and it's it's just a positive about Jacks Jackson, not a knock on Rourke.
Jackson came in the second-half. We still scored the same number of points against Nebraska offense kept running. He threw a great back shoulder pass. And like I said on the podcast Sunday, to me, the credit goes to Jackson, but also goes to the coaching staff that some of the throws, one of them the their foes for a touchdown guy was wide open. I mean, like anybody could have
made that throw. They, they have such good routes and such good play calls that I'm not saying that the quarterbacks are also making great plays, but a good number of times they don't have to make a good play at all because guys are so open. You just have to throw the ball like any competent quarterback could. So that that makes me feel good. But also not, not to mention the fact we have a very competent running attack. So, you know, I'm, I'm yeah. And an old line that can get it
there. And I, I don't know this, but there's definitely a calculus that Sigdetti has that makes me think that if Rourke injured his finger, but it's not awful.
If you look at the schedule, it's like, OK, we can probably win Washington and Michigan State without Rourke and maybe even Michigan. And I want instead of maybe injuring Rourke further or kind of never letting it heal, I'd rather take my chances with Jackson, which I think we could probably go through, you know, in those games with Jackson as my quarterback and then have work ready to go for Ohio State.
And, and it feels like Signeti might be looking at it that way versus in previous years where we're just like, we got to try and get all the wins we can with, you know, put everybody in at all times. That kind of this idea of like, hey, I think we can win the next three with Jackson and then go in and maybe win Ohio State with work. Well, what's nice is Jackson comes in, we don't have to change the offense. I mean, he knows he knows what he's running, you know, it's RPO game.
So as long as he can make the right reads and he seemed to be doing a great job of that. You know, Sincerity is an excellent quarterback coach. I mean, look what all the quarterbacks from James Madison were, you know, quarterback of the year in the conference. You know, and work has looked really good and Jackson's looked really good. They just keep trying out one good one after another. It's not like our backup quarterback's in and we're going to attempt 0 passes for the entire game.
Tom Allen style, you know, like, you know, this isn't that. And so, you know, that's what I talked about I think last week was we've got a process Now we can just plug and play, you know, we have something that works. And so I, I, I feel real good about their chances. And I think you're right. I think, you know, there could be some calculation there, you know, do we want him to be 100% or do we want to be 90% or whatever? But Chris Work wants to play. You let him play.
He's your team's quarterback. If he's good to go, he goes, you know, and what, what player is 100% this time of the season right now anyways, right? I mean, we're over halfway through the season. All guys are banged up and nicked a little bit and playing with something. So, you know, it's just the thumb for a quarterback is on the throwing hand is so incredibly important that you know, you want to make sure that thing's right. But the ball, even after the injury, the ball came out pretty
fine from his hand. You can tell he didn't have quite as much drive on it. And if he doesn't have that, then maybe Tavin Jackson's comparable. Yeah, that's fair. I will say. So I talked about I was able to actually watch the game on the flight. We had some flight delays coming out here, which turned out perfect to watch the game. I watched 99% of it on the flight. Yeah. Now comes the fun part of Saturday. So I plan on going. We are flying from Punta Cano to Baltimore.
We get into Baltimore at like 10. Like we get into Baltimore like 7:00 at night. Tomorrow we fly Baltimore to Indy. We get into Indy at like 12:45 AM Saturday morning, you know, wait for our bags, drive home. We'll probably get home at like 13145. My, my youngest has been had a bit of a cough. So it's like we're not going to try and push him through. My wife's going to stay home. My oldest kind of wants to go. I really want to go with game
day and all the traffic. I'm like I, you either go early or you go late. Like we like leaving Indy Westfield at like 9:00 is the absolute worst answer at 9:30. So I'm, we'll see how it goes. I'll talk about it next week, but I'm planning on coming home with my 11 year old after a week on vacation, getting home at like 130, putting him to bed and then waking him up probably around like 7:00 the next day. And we're going to get some Donuts and try and get down to.
I figure if I leave Westfield at 8:00, that gets me down there at 9:30, which should be before most of the rush. That's about the best I, that's about the best I can do. I mean, anything earlier and I'm I'm probably having a deep meltdown from all of us, but that's, that's my try. That's what I'm going to try and do.
I will let you know how it goes. I will be watching for Fort Wayne again because I had to choose between the Michigan game or the Washington game and I chose the Michigan game for my tickets so. So I will be watching from Fort Wayne but that'll be nice. It was great. Normally I hate Gus Johnson because I hate I've always been on the losing end of blowouts and so it's really freaking annoying. But man, when you're on the like good side of it, he's almost. Entertaining.
Oh, he's great. He's like, who said they had a bad schedule? Who's saying it now? Nebraska Team you. Know like yeah. All right, so who's your hot streak ended? Thanks to Iowa and Rutgers, we're ready to start again. So we got to pick the Indiana game and one more game. So James, give us our Who's your hot streak for the week? All right. We're going to make it an easy
one here. We're going to take IU minus 6 1/2, so we're going to take the spread here and then we're going to add on Oregon on the money line and that'll put you at +100 odds. So even money. Or OK, the Oregon. Final cover your big there, so OK. You don't want to like buy a couple points of the Oregon like at least give it like a three-point spread or something. Just straight money line in Oregon. I. Don't want to mess with it. OK, Oregon money line maybe on a
6 1/2 on the spread. I like it. I don't have to. Increase. And I appreciate you not picking a the Friday game, the USC game, so I can actually bet it this time so I'll be able to get home and bet it before I wake my son up at 6:30 in the morning. Excellent. I mean, he's at some point, if you're going to be a man, you got to be a man and realize like there's some tough turnarounds in life, right? For sure. That's mostly, I mean, would you
do that with your kids? No, they wouldn't want to go. OK. All right, well. I don't know. I want to go. My kids, they sleep the whole way. So I mean we've got a three hour drive, you know, they can sleep so. Yeah. All right, James, I got to get back to my vacation. It's our last day. I appreciate you hopping on. I appreciate everybody from listening. So, as always for Crimson Cash, this is Scott signing off. Post time.
