Episode description

Criminally Queer: The Bolton 7 looks back at one of the biggest miscarriages of justice in recent British LGBTQ+ history, and examines how this scarcely-known legal case played a significant role in the fight for gay rights.

Hugh Sheehan explores the events that led to the case of the Bolton 7 - from homes raided to police interrogations - and explores what life was like in 90's Britain.

Hugh speaks to Booker Prize-winning author Douglas Stuart; LGBTQ+ and human rights activist Peter Tatchell; author and queer scholar Jack Parlett; queer historian Justin Bengry; and Bolton 7 solicitor Nicola Hall.
