Hi everyone, I'm Talia and I'm Tanya, and together we are Crimes and Consequences, a true crime podcast. Welcome back, everyone to another episode of Crimes and Consequences. I'm Tanya and I'm Talia, and we're here to give into a really crazy story today. And it is something that where this took
place. Just the name of the person who committed these crimes, like everybody in that town just knows, and his name is Pazuzu Algorad. Oh, yeah, Zuzu. But he wasn't born that way, right, No, he wasn't born that way. So we're gonna get into it. But before we do, I would just like to remind everyone to hit like subscribe, follow whatever button you have available, and whatever way you're watching. If you're on YouTube, thank you to True Crime Daily. Thank you True Crime Daily.
And if you're on a podcast app, you know what to do it like subscribed. So, as I mentioned, this tale unravels like just like a shadowy tapestry. Oh, intertwining crime, mental struggles, and just some things out into like very eerie territory. Oh okay, So John Alexander Lawson, a man who adopted this unsettling moniker, Pazuzu Algorad. I got some fancy words going on. I know I'm gonna dealt into his life a little bit, Okay, So brace yourself for I mean, it's horrific. It's
you're just not you know, you're not gonna believe it. It's crazy. I love those times, those types of stories. So John Alexander Lawson. He was born August twelfth, nineteen seventy eight, in San Francisco, California, to his parents, Cynthia and Timothy. In nineteen eighty three, when John was just five years old, the family relocated to Clemens, North Carolina,
which is a suburb near Winston Salem. They settled into a house in this wonderfully quiet, middle class neighborhood, and this would be John's home until into adulthood. Okay. When he was about eight, his parents divorced, and this is about nineteen eighty six. His mother blamed his father for the failed marriage, accusing him of being an alcoholic and a drug addict who often got into trouble with the law. I mean I kind of understand, right,
he's a loser. Yeah. John's father moved to California after the divorce and sort of faded from Little John's life. So we got Big John and Little John. Yeah, Big John and Little John. Once the separation was final, little John's mom, Cynthia, she fell into a downward spiral of alcoholism herself and reckless behavior. Her nights were spent partying with friends being promiscuous while leaving John, Little John home alone to fend for himself. During this
time, John began to have trouble at school. I mean, well, yeah, he's got a fuck yeah. I mean it's just a reflection of what's going on at home. He's doing poorly in school, and he ultimately needed to repeat a year, Okay, and I mean this is elementary school, right, So we got help and behind. Yeah, he got helped behind. In nineteen eighty seven, when he was nine, his mom made the tough decision to have him hospitalized for a mental evaluation due to just his
worsening behavior. And he was like showing a lot of aggression and she just became worried, like, you know, it's something going on with my child. Yeah, doctors diagnosed him with schizophrenia ooh at nine yeah what and agoraphobia, but as time went on, mental professionals, yeah, mental health professionals, they would question those initial diagnoses. So that's pretty I mean, if he's not hearing voices and seeing things ninees, I'm pretty young to say schizo
front of rights, fronic, but maybe he was hearing things. But it's the eighties, who knows, right. Despite this unsettling home life, it's important to understand that John's childhood wasn't entirely grim. His mom really really loved him, like, loved him deeply, and she remained even though she's up partying and stuff, she was still attentive to him, and even though she was battling her own demons and alcoholism, her love remained steadfast and was a
constant presence in John's life. In nineteen ninety one, when he was about thirteen, that's when he started sneaking alcohol behind his mom's back, and of course this led to troubling incidents when he got to school drunk. Oh wow, I mean at thirteen, what's that eighth grade? I didn't even do that. I mean lots I mean, I can only imagine I might have done that. I don't think so, though. No, you didn't show up to school drunk at thirteen maybe maybe probably not. Yeah, I don't
know. Fifteen, you're slightly older. I don't know. And around this time, John decided he was going to just cut ties completely with his dad. His dad, like I said, his dad just kind of wandered in and out of his life anyway. And he just decided, you know what, I'm not going to communicate anymore with him, and so he relied solely on his mom, Cynthia, for any parenting. So Cynthia was, you know, his only parent in his life. John sppeers at school also distanced
themselves from him due to his kind of strange behavior. And yeah, he's drunk and he's been diagnosed with schizophrenics a little bit because they started calling him third boy. What, Yeah, because he wants to be called third boy. Oh that's a horrible nickname at thirteen years old. It must have been
a bunch of bullies. Yeah, but you know why, oh gosh, he refused to bathe so he would come to school and he constantly smelled like hin, Yeah, human waste, you know, yeah, probably a little bit of piss there too, probably skaky, right, third boy, third boy. Okay, that would make me want a shower, Yeah, right, you would think. But no, I'd never want to be called turd girl. Yeah, third girl. Ever, I mean neither. No, I would scrub the hell out of myself. I enjoyed showering. I enjoyed
being clean. He did it apparently, Okay, Okay. When John was about fifteen, his mom, Cynthia, married a man another John. His name's Johnny Larry James. Okay, so we'll call him Johnny. According to Johnny, little John harbored resentment toward him because he was able to provide structure, authority. He acted like a father figure. And little John is like fifteen, and he's like used to this wild life, yeah, with no structure, and all of a sudden, somebody's gonna come in and try to
have this straight and narrow life and he is like no tool. He's like no, no, no, no. So Johnny took charge, brought stability of the house, and it curbed little John's attempts to kind of assert like authority over his mom because as he's older, like Cynthia was a little bit weaker, like I don't know, the dynamic in the household change. He's starting to rule the nasty. Yes, he's becoming more authoritative. His mom
is becoming less. And now Johnny shows up and like throws this whole dynamic over, you know, putting a squash on you know, Johnny's Little Johnny's plans and so, and trying to control them. Probably, yeah, probably, and trying to set rules. I'm sure, parameters like you need to be home or you can't do this and that. Right for a fifteen year old, I'm not going to let you get drunk before school today. Exactly. In nineteen ninety four, Little John failed his freshman year at West Forsyth
High School and he set out to repeat it. But halfway through this second attempt at his freshman year in nineteen ninety five, he was seventeen. He just decided he's seventeen, is a freshman. Yeah, he's done. Yeah, he dropped out. I'm done. He's like, I am completely done school. When he was eighteen, he's still living in his home with his parents and his stepdad, and so you have this chaos right with Johnny and
Little John, and the home life is a little bit chaotic. But one of the things that the neighbors noticed was that Johnny and Cynthia kept really good care of their house. And this does become important. I know, you're like, what the hell, why are you telling me this? But they kept the outside of the house really well inside and when it was well manicured home, and you know, they just enjoyed. Johnny and Cynthia enjoyed taking care of their home. They had pride in their house. Yeah, they
had pride in their house. When little John was about twenty one, this is when he finally got his very first job. Oh and what was he doing all those other years? I living off mom? Right, Okay, probably selling weed? Probably who I'm guessing. Allegedly he was working this job that he got, he worked as a landscaper. However, his employment was very short lived. He only lasted about a week before he was like, fuck this, yes, I'm not doing this anymore any quit. Around that
same time, somehow he convinced his mom to leave Johnny. And I don't know why but or how he got her to do that, but he encouraged his mom to kick Johnny out and she did it, and that was maybe she was sick Johnny too. Who knows. There's always more to the story. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know exactly why they separated. I just know that they did. So Johnny's out. Johnny's out with him gone now finally, and then dad John is in California. Yep, so
we got a little Johnny. Yep, still got little Johnny. And so from then on, when Johnny the stepdad was gone, Cynthia shouldered all the financial burden. She ended up covering all of her son's expenses because he's not working. What was she doing I'm not sure exactly what she did for a living, but she's also spending money supporting little john his cigarette and alcohol like habits. She's buying, buying them, smokes, buying them. You know, that's nice mom, that's a nice mom. It is a nice mom.
No, it's not the way to show you get your ass to work at least right. I'm not spending my money on shit for you, like but I am. I know, I'm not. I mean, I don't know. I'm just saying, but okay, I mean, I made my kid get a job. She wants to spend money on dumb shit. You spend your own money, right, Yeah, so this is now a shift in their dynamic. John relied on his mom for financial support, but he was also able to exert dominance in the house, you know, like he
always wanted to. So now he's like he's got control. Yeah, he's got control of the house for some reason. On September eleventh, two thousand and one, and this is when the same day of the attack where the you know planes full into the towers and nine to eleven we call it nine to eleven, nine to eleven, yes, yes, that same day in the conservative town of Clemens, North Carolina. John's rebellious nature now reached new heights. So he hears about this attack. He's twenty three. He attempts
to make a new image for himself without embracing the religion Islam. He decides he's going to just start looking like a jihadist. He he begins wearing a turban and clothing that's reminiscent of Middle Eastern you know, male type clothing just to fuck with people, Yes, just to fuck with people. And it
was kind of a little bit ridiculous. He's only five seven and about one hundred and eighteen pounds, so he's not a big guy, but he's deciding, you know, oh, I'm just going to strike fear into people's minds and whatever, you know, just fucking with people, even though I mean it's just an image and he's a poser, but you know so. At the end of two thousand and one, John encountered trouble with the law for the first time, which I'm surprised it took this one right the first time.
Yeah, he was arrested for a dui, which is drinking under the influence, which resulted with him spending the night in the drunk take before he was allowed to be released the following night as Mom bailed him out, of course she did. In two thousand and two, when he was twenty four, a significant shift occurred in his life. This is when he decides he's going to legally change his name and adopt the moniker Pazuzu all regard. I don't what, I don't even know what to fucking say about that. Algorrad?
What does that mean? Algarad Pazuzu Algorrad. Well, the name was inspired by the Assyrian king of demons featured in the movie The Exorcist. Oh I should have known that, Yes, Hello. Then he spun this false tale where he claimed his mom was a Satanist who had given this him this name at birth. But you know, of course, obviously this was all made up. She was Pazuzu or did she call him little Johnny? I
think she always called him John. I'm thinking, I'm just curious. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to call my child something ridiculous like this. I don't know. But then again, he's out of the house, so who knows what she did? Right, So, now, embracing this new identity, he puts the sign on their front door. And this is just some This is just some crazy shit. So it's it's quite a long sign. It's on this white piece of paper and you have to be close to
be able to read it. It wasn't like this huge sign. I can't wait. Yeah, we will show a picture of it. But the sign side quote no gang members allowed. Anyone that dresses the same, has the same badge, and calls themselves the authority of a land that they did not create, a land that they only seized through terrorism, has no permission to enter this land unless you are a native, since this is their land, since this is the first amendment of your fake laws. We see you are
guilty until proven innocent. You can also make laws, so can if you If you can make laws, so can we. So be it. Quote I don't even know what the fuck that mean. You can't come here. I get the gang, I get no gangs. You're not allowed to come on this land unless you're native because it's really their land. But he's on the land, like he's not native. No, he's not native. Nope.
And the first amendments bullshit. And if you wear a badge the same something yea the police, yes, maybe yep, you're not allowed you know the money or he said the land was seized through terrorism, like so he puts us on the front door. Okay, okay, okay. I can only imagine what people thought. No, I've bet not a lot there the poor malemn. This is before Amazon Amazon, right, because then they'd be like, fuck, I don't know what to do with his package. Who's
just like, do I deliver it? Okay. Alongside this post on the front door, there was a sticker that proclaimed quote evil will triumph. Oh and his mom says yes, okay. With that, apparently evil will triumph, Yes, Evil will triumph. And these warnings were only the beginning of the changes that were gonna take place inside. This was not well tidy, no no. Following the name change Pazuzu, and I'm gonna call him that
from now on. Even it's fucking ridiculous, but I'm gonna say it, Okay, he began to get tattoos on his face that represented ancient warrior cultures from around the world, despite you know, he obviously had no ties to those cultures, I mean, left the city, grew up in No. Like I said, he's a poser. He displayed tattoos on his forearms bearing the words Satan and villain. So you know, he's showing everybody who he you know, he's dedicating this new persona. Is he a Satanist? Now,
yeah, he's supposedly a satanst Okay. Between two thousand and two and two thousand and seven, this house that was once meticulously maintained by Johnny and Cynthia its spiraled. It just inendo, decay and chaos. It became a gathering spot for outcasts from Clemens and Winston Salem, welcoming anyone willing to embrace just the atmosphere inside within its walls, a disturbing scene unfolded as people were encouraged to partake and acts of self harm, animal sacrifices, animal sacrifices,
well, we are Satanists to Leah, that's not necessary. And drug abuse. And I'll just tell you there is a video that we'll post in our show notes that you could go to. Like the police go through this house, there's just stuff written on the walls, ceilings, Like the house looks like there's just garbage everywhere. It's it's disgusting, like some sort of home,
like a hoard or like a hoarding situation. You know, you sometimes see people that suffer from like that affliction that their house is just filled with garbage and like the rooms are just everything's in disarray. And Cynthia is still living in this house. Everyone, so there is one room in the house. I mean, I'm believing it's her bedroom that while it's still kind of messy, it's not filled with garbage and doesn't have shit sprayed on the walls.
Yeah, exactly right, Like that's the one place in this house. Like it's just terrible. The house ended up having to be condemned, and I'll get into it later, but boiler alert. Yeah, several large dogs roamed freely inside the house, which they were allowed to just ship and piss anywhere they want. I'm guessing, I don't know. No, you're right, You're absolutely right. So it's just the stench in the house is horrendous as you can imagine. There's human waste everywhere. What I guess. People
couldn't make it to the bathroom. The bathroom's a mess too, by the way, I know. It's fucking discussing pole shitting in the house. Yes, just pissing everywhere, I guess, and satanic symbols and pentagrams were spray painted on the walls. In addition to like the graffiti I described, there were dead animals scattered in the trash, in the in the in the in the rooms. So gross, I know, I can't it's it's more. It's more than gross. Yeah. Bloodstained, Yes, it's it's I can't
even. I can't even. But like I said, there's bloodstains on the walls. I mean, this house was just dilapidated at this point. There were swords in the main living area. I don't know why they were like decorations on the walls or if they just were like leaning up against the walls. But that just led our that just added to the atmosphere. In the backyard, there was a dead cat that hung from a tree that it was there for months. I know that makes me very angry. I know,
it makes me fucking pissed, I know. And that's not I mean, what do you do if you're the neighbor and this is like a house in the suburbs, like and in a residential street. It's not like it's a standalone they have neighbors. I mean, I hate this guy already, don't hang out. I can't imagine like being a neighbor and like, oh no, no, I would do something about it, I know, right, and I'd probably get hurt, right, But I don't know. That's pretty
kind of scary. I don't know if I would I get that cat down anyway. Anyway, Around this time, too, Pazuzu started using metha and methamphetamines, which fuel just adderall or no. I think it's like I think it's like street math, crystal math, yeah, crystal math okay, and anthetamines yeah. And so under this influence he went underwent just a grotesque transformation, as if this wasn't gross enough. How can we get worse? How did it get worse? Okay, he's worse, it gets it gets worse.
He used a file and a dremal. I don't know what that is. It's like a little drill, like a hand drill. I don't want to know what you're gonna say. Well, he sharpens his teeth into points. I yeah, his as I mentioned. His personal hygiene was horribly. He bathed only once a year, and he never brushed his teeth. Oh no, yeah, he said. He justified it by saying that bathing and brushing your teeth strips the body of its defenses and wording off infection and illness.
Okay, he must be a scientist, yes, actor, I mean, I would think he would add to it than I do. He's building up his immune system to lea by you know that way, he doesn't need anything, right, all right, I guess he never read the report about you know, plaque on your teeth getting to your heart. But okay, anyway, anyway, not laughing, No, this is not a funny story, ass wipe. So I'm sorry. I can't help but make fun of him because he can make fun of him, because he's the asshole. Yes
he is. Pazuso sought attention through these shocking acts, obviously, Like one of the things he did was he he smeared blood on his face and it was rabbit's blood. Why he behaved, I don't know, because he's like, I'm so fucking cool. I don't know he's smeared or excuse me. He behaved inappropriately with women who visited his home. He acted like a predator, trying to pressure women into sexual situations. He exposed himself without their consent.
Okay, Well, any woman that's walking into this house with human shit and dog shit and pissed and satan satanic satanic symbols hanging out with the guy was brushed teeth in a fucking ear. Probably, I mean, she deserves it. To me, I shouldn't deserve it. But I mean I would expect him not to be the best host. That's true. That is true. You've got a point there, right right, Yeah, he's anyway.
He also began to claim that he could control the weather. Oh you know, okay, really okay, okay, I wish I could control the weather. Every day would be sunshine and seventy two. Despite rumors Pazuzu didn't have a split tongue, because I did think, like before I started doing the story, I kind of was like, oh yeah, I kind of know that story. He's got like a split tongue, like he cut his tongue, but he didn't. That was one thing that I couldn't handle that.
So, yeah, he started proclaiming that he was the Guardian of Hell, oh, hoping to strike fear into people. The Guardian of Hell self proclaimed, you know, Satan de Deck did not ordain him that. He just decided, I'm the Guardian of Hell, the Guardian of Hell. Okay, So Pazuza was able to maintain relationships with three women. Three women fell for this oh okay lord that he referred and he referred to all of them as his fiancees. Amber Birch, Crystal Mattlock, and Dixie Ross. All of
these women exhibited the same beliefs on hygiene and Satanism as Pazuzu. Wow. Yeah, and within the house, Pazuza tried to rule as a twisted patriarchy. You know, did he have them all at once or I don't think so. I are they overlapped lamped? Yeah, laughing? Yeah, So he's trying to rule this as like a dictator. I think he's trying to turn it into a cult. Okay, okay. And you know, they had frequent visitors to the home, like people that you know, he had
friends, but there was also people like in the community. It would stop by, I would hear about, like there's because there's always a party or drugs at this house, you know. And one such a visitor was a man named Josh Frederick Waltzer. Josh was originally from West Virginia. He met his girlfriend Stacy Carter in nineteen ninety nine, and the two eventually had a
son, Jared, who was born in two thousand and five. Financial troubles plagued this couple and after a year together, just after a year together, and that leaded to difficulties with mortgage payments on their farm, and the farm eventually fell into They and the farm went into foreclosure. To alleviate their financial
stress, Josh gets the idea that he's going to sell drugs. Stacy opposed this idea, especially they have this baby, right to this little She was adamant in keeping their lives drug free, even when it came to substances that Josh thought was acceptable, like weed and mushrooms. She's like, there's gonna be no drugs in this house. But despite Stacy's objections, Josh began dealing drugs to make money, which ultimately led to Stacy leaving him with their young
son. So there's one day, Yeah they get caught. She's gonna like, right worth the risk? Yeah exactly. Josh left that home that he shared with Stacy and their son, and he began to live in a secluded trailer in the woods in Maxville, North Carolina, which is close by to where I'm talking about. Harry lived alone and turned to selling weed and mushrooms to make ends meet. He also started a business in which he performed hoof
trimmings for horses and cows on neighboring farms. I mean that's a living, right, Yeah, I made twenty seventh, two thousand and eight, Josh's world changed when the police raided his home. During the raid, officers uncovered a package labeled for mail containing mushrooms, which made this a felony due to the involvement of the postal service. Oh shit, he had the shit mail to him. M hm, you know, no, he was going to mail it out. Oh, so it's distributing illegal substances through the mail,
which is a felony. On February twenty third, two thousand and nine. But he didn't do it. But he did. Oh but did he actually put it in the mail? No, well he didn't place it in the mail. It was a package that they found. Oh, you're right, he didn't do it. Spoken like a true defense line a lawyer. He didn't do it. He was just joking. Yeah, I mean, you know, I just was enjoying making packages that looked like they were going to go in the right right. I didn't have anything better to do, right,
Yeah, that's what I well. Unfortunately, he was convicted of felony drug charges on February twenty third, two thousand and nine. Though he was swiftly released from jail, Josh struggled to regain employment with a felony conviction. Yeah, that's hard on his record. He did begin to spend a little more time with Stacy and their son in an attempt to get back on his feet, like I need to, you know, get my life together. I need to get my shit together. However, the drug scene just proved
too tempting to resist and it pulled him back into his former lifestyle. By mid two thousand and nine, Josh's life had just now spiraled out of control, leaving him homeless. It was during this time that Josh this path crossed with Pazuzu. Pazuzu allowed the now homeless Josh to stay at his home. So Josh now has somewhere to go. I'd rather be homeless than stay at
house, I guess. Little did he know that this chance meeting would just set off a series of events that would ultimately lead to a great tragedy. In mid July two thousand and nine, about a month after Josh moved into Pazuzu's home, a really unsettling thing happened. Pazuzu and his friends trapped Josh
in the basement, subjecting him to days of starvation and torture. Pazuzu bragged to visitors of the house about how he had somebody locked in the basement in the basement, locked up in theron, and he warned everyone, you know, you're not allowed to let him go, so don't let him escape. What did they do to him? Nature exactly how they tortured him, But
they definitely starved him and after days of suffering, it sucks. Josh meant a gruesome end when Pazuzu shot him in the head with a twenty two caliber rifle. The sound of the gunshot spread throughout the house and caught the attention of Cynthia. His mom is home, y'all. Who did she didn't know about the guy in the basement, I know, right, I think she probably just stayed in her room. I think she just stayed in her room. Obviously, I understand this clean room. So she getting ready for work,
and she hears this gunshot. So she goes to the basement where she finds Pazuzu holding the rifle, and she sees Josh's lifeless body on the floor. And even though she's not a stupid woman, she can put two and two together. She knew what had just happened. She went back upstairs and continued to get ready for work, and she left the house shortly thereafter. She didn't mind part of it. No, she didn't have a bitch called nine one one. No, exactly right. I don't know. I don't
know what's going on here. Who knows. Pazus's brutality didn't stop with that initial gun shot. After his mom left, he fired two more shots into Josh's head and multiple times into his torso just for shits and giggles. No, I think probably just to see what would happen like, that's my guess. That's horrible. Yeah. Rumors speculated that Pezzuzu attempted to dismember Josh, but that was believed to be a tail concocted by Pezzuzu himself, just to
make it all seem cooler. Yeah, I guess cooler. It's horrible, I know. On July twenty sixth, two thousand and nine, while Josh was being held and tortured, his nineteen eighty nine Buicklist Saber was found illegally parked and abandoned at the John Arch Apartments in Winston Salem. So he wasn't dead yet. No. The keys were left in the ignition and the driver's
window was rolled down. Although the circumstances in which the car was found seemed suspicious, the police didn't take any action and assumed that Josh had just left town to avoid probation like meeting with his probation officer. No investigation was launched into the abandoned vehicle or Josh's whereabouts as a missing person. And he is missing at this point, like his stacy has. Somebody in his family has
reported him missing. There's a warrant, right right, yeah, probably, well he's got a probation officer, parole if he's a fallon, Yeah, parole officer. Yeah, you're right, it's probably a parole officer. And so I don't know who reported him missing, but someone did. Okay, So now fast forward now where Josh is laying on the basement floor. His body remained in Pezuza's basement for several days while passus Zoo contemplated what his next
move was going to be. To tide the odor of the corpse, Pazuzu poured cat litter and chlorine over Josh's body. Eventually, with the assistance of accomplices Amber Birch in Crystal Matlock. Those are two of his girlfriends, his fiancees. Excuse me, Josh, excuse me. Pazuzu buried Josh's remains in the backyard. The backyard, I mean, the neighbors don't see this.
But whatever they happen a middle night, probably I don't know. Disturbingly, Crystal boasted about her involvement in Josh's starvation and burial to anyone who would listen. That makes me so angry now, I'm so angry right now. Oh yeah, she took pleasure in like telling the story, which you know is scarring other people. Like what and I bet she smiled as she recounted the grizzly details of the murder. I mean, did a lot of fucked up shit. I'm sure they did, But we don't need to talk, not
yet, No, not at all. Both Amber and Pezuzu also told the story of Josh's murder with others at the house, bragging to make sure that everyone knew what happened to Josh. Why I don't like you said to seem cooler. I don't know. I if someone I don't know. You know, we tell these stories sometimes, t LEA, and sometimes it's like a group mentality, because we've told stories about people being murdered by like a group of people, and I'm always like, what would I do in that situation?
You think you would like run to the police, right, yeah, go along with it, and you do something you wouldn't normally do. Yeah, everybody else's right, So then I'm thinking, is that what's happening? To people that are hearing the story in the house. Are they just like listening and deciding either is it bullshit? Is it real? Or are they just high on crystal math and don't give a fuck. That could be it,
That could be it. I don't know. But on August third, this is just like a short few days from when this all happened, a neighbor went to the sheriff's office and reported that she had heard that Pazuzu killed a man and buried him in the backyard. Acting on this tip, the police visited Pazzuza's house the next day, August fourth. Only one unit was dispatched, and the officer just simply knocked on the door and asked Pazuzu if
he had killed someone and buried them in the backyard. They probably didn't want to go in that house. He's probably like fuck this man, Like no, no, stupid, Yeah, I would never do that. I mean, can you okay, I'm the guardian of hell, I'm too busy, and you're gonna see a picture of this guy. Now, this guy opens the door and you're the police officer. I would be like, can you see inside the house? And I don't know we're good here. Yeah,
and so without further investigation, the officer laughed, that's shitty. Nearly two months later, on September twenty fourth, two thousand and nine, the police received another tip from an anonymous caller, once again alleging that Pazzuzu had killed a man and buried him in the backyard. However, authorities this time didn't send anyone to follow up. I think we've already heard that story, yeah, and we've checked that out. There's you're going to be mad. Oh,
I already am mad. You're going to be mad at the police though, Okay, I don't like to be mad at the police. I know me either, But you're gonna be mad at the police. Wutting. This story's over. So they don't send anyone out to investigate this tip because, like we asked him, he said he didn't do it. He did end a story, right right? Why would he lie? Why would he lie?
On October three, two thousand and nine, Pazuzu and Amber came across a man named Tommy Dean Welch, who had left his brother's home in the Colonial Arms apartment complex and began walking a ten mile trip back to his own home. It's a long walk. It is a long walk. Surveillance footage from a Circle K station captured Tommy walking through a supermarket parking lot around seven twenty eight pm that day, making this the last time he was seen alive
on camera. Pezuzu and Amber stopped when they saw him, and they invited him to a party at their house, which was just a bruise. They just wanted to get him in the car, so despite being strangers to him, Tommy accepted the invitation and he went with them to Pezuzu's house like we're also I got to do. Yeah, And they get in the house.
They they're in the living room, they start drinking, and for no specific reason, Amber retrieved a twenty two rifle from Pezuza's room and, without warning, shot Tommy in the back of the head while he was talking to Pezuzu. Amber did, Amber did? Amber did Yep. Cynthia entered the room upon hearing the gunshot. She's like again again only yeah, only to be
faced with the sight now of Tommy laying on the floor bleeding. That's horrible, and she quickly left the room retreated to her bedroom without intervening again. Like I said, Like you said, she probably just stayed in her room on her own business mind, in her own business. Enraged, Pazuzu knocked Tommy's body to the floor and proceeded to jump up and down on his chest, shouting obscenities. In his frenzy, Pazuzu accidentally rolled his ankle, nearly
breaking it while he was jumping up and down. Karma, Yeah, unable. Is this horrible? Why are these? This is like no reason. So now Pazuzu with his ankle all messed up, he can't bury Tommy himself. So he tells amber In Dick see that they sixty is the third fiance. Okay, okay, so they're all living together. Apparently they you know, he tells them, you need to take care of Tommy's body. So they lazily attempt to break Tommy's arms and legs with a shovel to have to
avoid digging a larger hole in the bathroom. They think like they're gonna him into a smaller mass. I guess they got tired though, of digging a large enough hole in the yard, and they buried Tommy, leaving his knee and half of his head exposed. What and they just decided to just cover him with a tarp and just that was it. We're good, Yeah,
we're good. That's because they're all on drugs. Just a few days after Tommy's murder, on October fourth, his mon Charlotte reported him missing to authorities, and she expressed just a deep concern because she's like, it's just not like him to disappear. So he was loved and missed by people. Yeah. Absolutely. And similarly, in February of twenty ten, Josh's ex wife
Stacy went to police to report him missing. She claimed, you know, she was reallyant hesitant to report him missing, thinking that maybe he was hiding from the police, like, you know, we mentioned that he but it's been a long time now. Yeah, So she eventually came forward after she heard rumors that Pazuzu had murdered him and buried him in the backyard. I don't know how this is getting out. Well, he didn't shut his mouth up about it, that's true either, did his little lady friends. Yeah,
that's true. And then all the other people and people, and then they tell people and they tell people, Oh, that'd be horrible. Someone I love might be buried in a backyard. A freak. I know. By February twenty third, twenty ten, Stacy grew increasingly alarmed by Josh's prolonged absence, particularly due to his lack of communication with her and their son. Yeah they have a son. Yeah. She returned to the police, urging them please take action, which led to the execution of a search warrant.
Oh, Laura, I'm Pezu's house. Oh boy, I don't even want to know. What was this shit they found? Literally the shit they found, but it yielded no evidence of a crime, so I don't think it. They didn't look very hard, what, leaving Stacy frustrated and puzzled by the lack of progress. Isn't it tarp in the backyard? Wasn't it? You think the backyard would be included. I don't know what happened. I don't know where the breakdown happened. I'm just telling you, Okay, nothing
came of it, Okay. I May twenty eight, twenty ten, Pazuzu faced legal trouble once again when he was arrested for choking his mom, Cynthia. Oh, that son of a bitch. Yeah. She decided to press charges for domestic assault, but ultimately she chose to drop the charges, allowing him to avoid accountability for his actions, and when the charges were dismissed,
he was able to just walk away and clear. About a week later, on June sixth, Pazuzu and his friend twenty year old Nicholas Pascal Rizzi encountered thirty year old Joseph Enrich Chandler, who was a legally blind man, outside of a gas station. He was approached by Pazuzu and Rizzi, who were actively searching for a victim. Seizing the opportunity, they offered Chandler a ride. Despite being strangers to him, he accepted it. The three traveled to
a secluded boat ramp at a park near the Yadkin River. Once there, Pazuzu stayed on the river bank while Chandler and Rizzi stood on the ramp. While Chandler attempted to light a cigarette, Rizzy suddenly shot him in the back of the head with a pistol, and the motive remains unclear. They're just chilling, yeah, shoots and giggles. After murdering Chandler, Pazuzu and Rizzi left the body on the boat ramp. The following morning, on June seventh
City maintenance workers made the grim discovery. They didn't even try to fight it. Can they just thrown them in the water out something? I mean something. I mean, it's a good idea. I'm just saying that. I know. No, they didn't. They just that just goes to show you they don't give up. No, they don't, not at all. Despite Rizzy's involvement in the death of Joseph Chandler, he was allowed to remain in Pezzuzu's home. I mean, why not. Everybody's fucking killing everybody in this
house? Who cares club. When authorities came to the house searching for Rizzi, Pezuzu lied to them, helping him stay out of trouble and the two. The two were eventually arrested for this crime. This is what begins the downfall. Finally, Okay, on October tenth, twenty ten, Pazzuzu faced charges of accessory after the fact of involuntary manslaughter. How did they find out? I'm not sure? Okay. Shockingly, he received a sentence of only
five years probation. But yep, he never went to jail or he didn't kill him. Well, he was just there. Yes, the court accepted the fictitious explanation that Chandler's death was an accident from a nighttime target shooting session. Because you're going to take a legally blind man out to a target shooting and a boat ramp. Oh okay. Pazuzu underwent a forensic psychiatric evaluation. Oh, I can't wait to hear what this says at a hospital in Raleigh.
He acted timid and stated that he was afraid to be sent to prison. So scared. Yeah. Additionally, the psychiatrist noted that Pazuzu emitted a foul order indicative a boy or whatever. Yeah, he's still tured boy into adulthood. Meanwhile, Nicholas received comparatively short prison sentences. Oh yeah, yeah, Rizzy Sorryzzy Yeah. Rizzy received a comparatively short prison sentence of thirteen months
with credit for time already served. Now, the legal trouble doesn't end, because on August twenty third, twenty eleven, Pazuza faced legal trouble being charged with misdemeanor of assault and a woman, consequently an additional twelve months of probation. Who was the woman? I don't know, girl, I knew? Yeah, I'm curious me questions wha we should not record this early in the
morning. We are a little bitchy in the morning. So he instead of you know, the police or the court suspensions aids the police, instead of the court system giving him something more serious, he just gets another year probation added to his five year probation sentence that he already has. Just a month later, on September twenty second, Amber Birch was arrested for assaulting Cynthia.
Now both of them now have physically assaulted her. The charges against her included pushing, slapping, and choking Cynthia, resulting in a sentence of twelve months of probation. So Cynthia was being abused, Yeah, she was, and that's probably why she didn't go to the police. But on November eighth, she's had enough, okay, because she went to the police department to report that she had witnessed Amber kill Tommy Dean Welch back in two thousand and nine,
a couple of years before. She informed the police that she had observed Amber commit the murder and even provided details about where Tommy's body was buried in the backyard. However, don't police took no action on Cynthia's report. They didn't visit the house or conduct any investigation into the matter. I don't understand this, but I don't either. In twenty twelve, an old friend of Pazzuzu's. His name's Matt Flowers. He returned home to Winston Salem after completing
his service in the army. Matt was familiar with the happenings at Pezuzu's house, but he had joined the army to avoid getting entangled. Good for him, for him, and during a visit home on leave, he learned about the murder and the burial going on at the house and in the backyard. Intriguingly, the anonymous tip to the police in twenty ten that had been Matt Flowers. That was him, Yeah for him, And before he exited the
army, Pazuzu discovered that Matt had made this anonymous report. Yeah. In a confrontation in twenty twelve, Pazuzu confronted Matt at his house, admitting he knew about Matt's role and the tip off. Pazuzu casually skewered a random piece of raw meat with a fireplace poker and he ate it in front of Matt, and an attempt to intimidate him while claiming that Satan protects him. Okay,
okay, and Matt was able to leave nothing further. Yeah, I know what the fuck I'm like, Can you imagine I'm just starting to eat some raw meat you? No, I really can't imagine you eating any raw meat except sushi. A few weeks later, Pazuzu was again acting abusive toward his mom and he was confronted by a new person at the house who stepped in to protect her. This angered Pazuzu because he was felt really threatened.
The guy was big, and he felt threatened by his size, so a desperate attempt to maintain control, Pazuzu asked Matt to kill the new guy. I'd be like, what part of me tattling Anya? Did you not get? I know, I'm not going to kill nobody, come on, And this led to a fight in the kitchen, where Matt event actually knocked Pazuzu unconscious. God whoop. Later that night, Matt went to the police station to speak with a detective about rumors surrounding the men that were missing, and
police are like, yeah, we've heard that. Please tell me they go out. Just can you just give me some relief? No, no, no, they still don't know. No, okay, they still don't. On August twenty second, twenty fourteen, another friend, Daniel Pitcher, went to police with information he got from Pazuzu. Daniel said Pezuzu confessed to him that he killed somebody and buried him in the backyard. Pazzuzu even showed Daniel where the body was buried, and Daniel drew a map for the police showing
the spot. They better go out there, Tanya. Okay, okay, you just gotta end this. They still didn't do anything, so please. About a month later, this is really bearing on Matt's mind. He went back to the police, and Matt's the one that was in the army. This time, he implicated Amber and Dixie in the commission of the murders. He gave the police lots of details about where the bodies were buried, and he warned that if they didn't do something, he was going to take matters
into his own hands. Oh he's just I'm sure his conscience was bothering him. Matt's presence finally paid off. Finally, finally, on October fifth, twenty fourteen, the police begin searching the property. And this is years later, it's about five years years. During the search, on October fifth, twenty fourteen, police made a chilling discovery. I mean, we know it's
back there, right, there is a skeleton. They find a skeleton, and shortly after investigators found another body at the exact location marked on the map provided by Daniel months earlier. This led to the arrest of Pazuzu, aged thirty five, what and Amber, who was twenty four, in connection with the murders. The bodies were taken to Wake Forest Medical Center for further examination,
revealing that both individuals had died from gunshot looms. On October thirteenth, they were identified as Waltzer and Welch, who had disappeared in two thousand and nine, as I mentioned, five years earlier. Following this discovery, the house was deemed uninhabitable and Cynthia was forced to leave condemned. Yeah, it was fucking mass You have to watch the video. On October seventh, twenty fifteen, the bank took over the house due to foreclosure and decided to tear
it down. Neighbors came together to witness the demolition of the house of horrors that plagued their once happy neighborhood. On October twenty eighth, twenty fifteen, around four am, Pazuzu was found dead dead in his prison. I didn't expect that, No, from a serious self inflicted wound in the crease of his left arm. He was set to appear in court the following day,
so he decided he wasn't going to do that. An inmate in the same prison said that Pazuzu was notably stressed and often cried because he was afraid of death by lethal injection. Composer coward. Yeah, such a big badass too, right. On March ninth, twenty seventeen, Amber pleaded guilty to second degree murder, armed robbery and accessory after the fact to murder. She got
a minimum sentence of thirty nine years and eight months. Similarly, on June fifth, twenty seventeen, Crystal Matlock pleaded guilty to conspiracy to accessory after the fact of first degree murder and got a minimum sentence of three years and two months. In twenty eighteen, because this is mom, Cynthia stated, quote John had mental problems but wasn't a bad guy end quote, So she did call him John. I told her she didn't call him zoo. She's like, no, but he wasn't a bad guy to Leah, he had some
problems. No, he sounds ill. Yeah, he does ill. Nobody got him out either. She could have She could have tried. She could have tried. She could have not lived with dead bodies in her backyard. Not judging her body. She could have done some better. I know, I'm trying to she could have made some better choices. But yeah, but she you know, she probably scared. I mean, I don't that's true. But I'm not living in the back. I'm not gonna have dead bodies
in my backroom. Just move out. I mean, she worked too, so I'm sure she could give gone somewhere. I don't know. Didn't you have family and stuff. I don't know. We're not gonna die. I'm spiraling. Even though she was a witness to the crimes, she was ever charged in relation to the murders. So his story is just a reminder of what drugs can do to people, untreated mental illness can do to people. And while he met his end by his own hand, the scars he leaves
behind are just countless. I know. I feel bad for Yeah, especially that they had that one what was this Josh had a son, yeah, and I'm sure they all had family, yeah, I mean yeah, so that is the horrible, horrific just for this, just for fun, I know, just for fun. No good reason, no good reason to do these murders. Not that there's ever a good reason, but I'm saying, I mean sometimes you can kind of see it, right, like, but this is just just pleasure. It's just pleasure. And these are the most
disturbing crimes of all. I feel like it's like when serial killers kill people, it's just for the pleasure of it, Like, I don't know, so it's not look at the heat of passion, no, no, or you know, I'm gonna kill you for your life insurance or something, right, Like, there's no reason. So these have to be the most troubling ones for police too, because you do want to find a reason. But anyway, well, thank you everyone for watching and listening to today's episode.
