60: The Manson Family Murders: Part Two
Episode description
Hello and welcome to Crime & Spirits, where your hosts teach you about true crime, spooky stories, and how to make a great cocktail.
Join us this week while we dive into part two of the Tate/LaBianca Murders aka the Manson Family murders.
In the late 1960s, at the height of The Civil Rights Movement, Charles Manson "predicted" that the world's end was rapidly approaching. He claimed that an apocalyptic race war called Helter Skelter would erupt, which would wipe out half the population. But things weren't moving at a pace that worked with Manson's timeline. So, he decided to speed things up by instructing a handful of his family members to go out and kill affluent white people. Manson instructed his followers to make it look like The Black Panthers did it in hopes that these murders would incite the beginning of Helter Skelter.
Last week we learned how Charles Manson was able to manipulate people into killing on his behalf and the why behind it all. In part two, we're diving right into the night the LaBiancas were murdered, and then right into the investigation. The trial was a circus, unlike anything we've covered before. So, buckle up butter cups and sip tight. This is going to be a bumpy ride.
For sipping along this week, we remixed "The Summer of Love."
