39: Prohibition In The US: Setting The Scene For Organized Crime
Episode description
Hello and welcome to Crime & Spirits Podcast, where your hosts, Bree and Suze, teach you all about some true crime, spooky stories, and how to make one heck of a good cocktail.
This week the girls are diving into a time in history that Americans likely want to forget. Of course, we're talking about the prohibition movement that occurred throughout the 1920s in the United States. The passing of prohibition laws across the states bred an environment full of resentment and desperation. People still wanted to enjoy an alcoholic beverage and were willing to do just about anything to make that happen. This is where organized crime and at-home distilling enter the scene. So much crime was being committed all over the place. Join the girls while they discuss all things bootlegging, speakeasies, and the eventual consequences of the prohibition era.
This week for sipping along Suze is making us "The Bees Knees." A cocktail plucked directly from the speakeasies themselves.
Come hang out with us on social media! This is where we post the shopping lists (so you can stock up your bar ahead of time), drink recipes, and other fun things.
