Episode 292: Why Denominations, Part Five--Reasons for Splits

As many pastors and families know already, sometimes in a broken marriage, divorce is the least-worst option.  It may always be heartbreaking and painful, but sometimes separation is less harmful all around than continuing in a toxic, dysfunctional, or irreconcilable relationship.  And sometimes it's that separation that allows each former spouse to move on, to grow, and to become healthy again.  And to be honest, sometimes church life can be the same: sometimes further division is the least-worst option.  As pastors serving in denominations that are heirs of the Protestant Reformation, as well as more recent mergers of denominations and even more recent divisions within those same church bodies, pastors Erica, Sarah, and Steve can all attest to the complexity and often painful realities of those "divorces" in church life.  In this episode of our series looking at denominations in Christianity, we'll take a look at some of the ways we end up with denominations splitting, congregations dividing, and church bodies forming, reforming, and parting ways.  Join us for some honest and very real conversation here in this week's Crazy Faith Talk.
