The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club. Are you ready for a break? Are you ready for a break? Absolutely ready for a break? Yeah, and so much for that. It's time for The Break on Dallas Cowboys dot Com Wall with Nick Eatman, David Hellman and bar Garcia and Derek Eagleton. It is Thursday, December twenty seven, twenty eighteen, Season fourteen,

episode number one oh three. Welcome to the latest edition of The Break, live from the s WBC Mortgage studios at the Star. Excited to have cowboys to talk with you guys today. We're gonna get a lot of questions. Give us a call. The numbers eight eight eight eight five five two two nine seven again it is eight eight eight eight five five two two nine seven. We'll take phone calls. We'll also take questions. You can send

us on Twitter. You can hit any one of us on Twitter because we're all there, and you can give send some questions in. We'll take your questions. We're gonna try to hit a lot of topics today. How's everybody doing. I'm awesome, Derek, good day, Glad to have you back. Yeah, sorry, I missed yesterday Christmas travel, but you didn't bring any gumbo. I tried, man, then TSA won't let you on. It's liquid TSA. I know the damn TSA. Man ain't care enough to check in it back for you. No, he

didn't know. I haven't checked a bag in ten years. Like, I'm not adding that extra stress onto my life, not even if it meant I would have some gumbo to day. You can come hey, with any luck, we're all going to New Or going into weeks. You can come visit Mama helmet. I'm gonna start over, so he's gonna make a whole new batch for us. It takes like two hours. You said, like, tell tell everyone once you've got Angie her for Christmas? Can you do that? Yeah, Tommy John,

this should not be scandalous. I know it's not. I bought My mom is from New Orleans, she lives there, she's lived there for forty plus years. I bought her a gift card to Saints Shop. Nothing wrong with that, So you gotta know what the parents, how about what you like? Let me finish so if we're there in two weeks, Yeah, for a playoff game. She doesn't want anything to do with us. No, but no, they and

that's my parents are very supportive. My dad like, listens to all these shows, Hi, Dad, I don't think too. My mom's a little more chill. My mom's like, I'm proud of you, but I'm not going to listen to like five hours of Cowboys content per week with my dad gives me suggestions on what we should read right here, really, yeah, now, maybe we should take some of those suggestions. Got I

give us some good ones. I've got one. Yeah, it's it's I don't know how good it is, but it's um No, they tell me he likes puns, he likes it's very appropriate. But yeah, I was about to say, okay, hey nick Dad, okay, sounds about right where it was an apple treat. Yeah, if it, if it came to that, my parents would definitely root for the Saints. And but they would be like, but you know, we want we want what's best for you too, So my dad would say, well,

we can't lose. It's good for us, no matter what. That's what you would say. How did your dad handle the Stefan Diggs touchdown? Not good? Not great? But nobody I know did. I was about to say, I don't think anybody in New Orleans. But he wasn't happy. He was pretty he was pretty unhappy. It's bad, Which honestly, that's how I knew this job has totally changed me, because like I was watching it here in Dallas and I it happened, and I was like, oh damn, like

it didn't. I wasn't sad at all. I was just like, that's crazy. And then I was like, everyone I know is about to jump off a bridge, like that's yeah. Yeah. The group FaceTime like it's okay, guys. I was like, okay, it'll be all right. I'm sorry, it's okay. All right, Let's jump in. Let's talk some Cowboys football. Let's start first getting everybody caught up. Jason Garrett talked a little bit about some injuries. Catch us up on what he said.

There were four guys in particular that he mentored where are we with Irving, Crawford, Brown, and Martin. A couple of weeks ago, we sat and we were like, well, if David Irving plays, it won't be until the playoffs. David Irving's not gonna play for this team right ever again, I mean not this year. And if it's not this year. What ain't going home? Sorry? Oh yeah, no, you did this movie week this week, David Irving's not playing. And you know, if if I'm wrong, you can pull this

up and throw it back in my face. But I just he's I don't buy it. He's not looking like he's even getting close. The playoffs are basically here. I mean, they'll be practicing for a playoff game at this time next week, and he doesn't look like a guy that's making a ton of progress. I'm calling it. I don't think we see him this season, and therefore I don't think we see him ever again probably. Um anyway, and why they don't put him on injured reserve, I don't know.

I don't have I mean, it's I, if I had to guess, I think that's kind of a tugle war between coaching and front office. Yeah, it's like the coaches are like, what are we doing here? And the front office is like, this guy's freakishly talented. We're not gonna give up on him until we have to. That's my guess, pure speculation, that's my guess. Yeah. Um, I mean he's inactive, so it's not like if you brought another guy in,

he'd probably be an active. Yeah, I'm reserving my comments because I think that after seeing what happened with different stories here, but after seeing Randy Gregory's stories and me back then, I was just like, well, why keep wasting time with someone that's just not pulling their hand lessons? I admit it, Yes, yes, of course, and it's great to see Randy's accomplishment and where he's at right now.

But as far as David Irving, there's so many things that I mean, you can say about him at this point, but I think after me personally, after seeing what happened with Randy and all that, I'm just like, oh, my comments to myself, I think I think we've beaten this into the ground. But I mean, you know, you never know exactly what another person is going through like that,

I think there's more. There's way more to this than that meets the eye than David Irving just being like, oh, I don't want to play football, like I don't think it's that easy, and so yeah, like I'm I'm not Yeah, I'm not trying to cast judgment. I just don't think he's gonna play for this team again this year. Um Tyrone Crawford is he's out at practice, which in my opinion is miraculous considering he needed to go to the

hospital five days ago. Um, he's out there. He's not going to play this week, nor should he, but it is a good sign. Zack Martin ramped his stuff up today. He was doing a little bit more. I would be kind of surprised if he plays, but it's a good sign for the playoffs. Anthony Brown. Anthony Brown was also looking like he was planning on being limited at least, like he was mixing into the drills and stuff. And um, CJ. Goodwin we talked about I don't talked about yesterday. We

talked about him on the roster. Um. I mean he's going to be that gunner there and that is that is a big deal. That is a big deal for the special teams units. Um, he does a really nice job there and so they're they're excited about that move right there. It hasn't been an issue recently, but like I mean, you think you know Atlanta Lenor gets that penalty. I mean, that's that's the difference between good point, difference between winning and losing, and playoff games can be so yeah,

definitely something to watch. Lenor did make it back to the practice squad though, so he's still here, which is a little surprising to me because, yeah, because this is the time of year. You know, you got a guy that's been been around for a couple of years, and he's done some good things in preseason games which teams look at, and then this is a really easy time to have him out there, put him on your roster

and keep him, you know. I mean if you're any team, any team that's you know, out there, like the Bills, and they say, well, you know we can, we can keep Lenor. Now he's on our team, and now we

got him all all season. I think this is one of those guys though, that um we hit we see the severy year training camp be like, I don't know how the Cowboys when they go yea, like everybody's got one of him, right, everybody's got a guy that they think, hey, this seevers got a little potential, he's got a little something. I think we might be able to at some point develop him maybe into something. Everybody seems to have one

of those guys. So it's like, do you trade your guy who has the potential for this other guy has the potential. I just I don't. I don't think he's necessarily different than those other lot of guys across the hes. Not. Here's the difference, though. He's a street free agent. You know, you think about it, at the end of the year, you're gonna sign fifteen or so guy ten, maybe not that many, maybe like seven or eight, like street free agents that were kind of out of football whatever. The

Cowboys made him a street free agent in week sixteen. Yeah, so that's why that's he's better than the guys that are sitting. He's better than Katie Cannon, you know, who's not in on a team right now. That that's what I mean. They made him a street free agent by the time of year, So yeah, I'm trying. I know the Cowboys have done that before. You know, like you don't feel the same way about these guys in December that you did in May. Either, You're like, oh, this

guy didn't really pan out. Maybe this Lenore guy that the Cowboys cuts better, you know. So I know, if I thought about it, I know the Cowboys have done that. You know, especially if your season's pretty much over, you're not worried about winning many more games, you're not going to the playoffs and take a look at somebody like that. So I kind of agree with Nick, but he's still here. And uh, did we I think we hit everything on Yeah,

we hit all four of those. This is a remarkably healthy team for you know, December twenty eighth, whatever, seventh seventh, seventh, sewenty eighth, it's your birthday, Uh, be correct, So you know everybody's dealing with something like I guarantee there's thirty guys on the on the team that have injuries that aren't on the report, just Knox and knicks and things like that. But in the grand scheme, this is a remarkably healthy team. We do actually have a question from

a Cowboys fan for life. He asked, well, yeah, but that's what right? Can we can we please have table on Austin return punch, so talk about his return from injury. When is he going to be back, because seems like he's healthy at this point or Ryan wrote about him today he was full. Okay, he's full yesterday. I expected him. If he doesn't play this week, it's just because they just decided we don't want to have him. He has

to play this week. He needs, and like, you know, you want guys to be healthy, and you know this game doesn't mean anything in the standings. He has not played since October fourteenth. I know he's This game is made for a guy like that. He needs to get reactlimated to football. So I fully expect to see him out there. I'd like to see him return punts and play receiver too. I no idea what his workload is gonna look like, but I expect him to have a

pretty sizable role. He said earlier before the show, you said they could have made him an injury, put him on injured reserve. Yea, and brought him back, because that's how long he was out. However, you can only do that two times. They did it with Noah Brown. They're doing a good Goodwin wouldn't be able to come back if you had done. They were fortunate that they were able to have. I mean, they've been doing it with David Irving too. They were they have these these spots.

That's because they really haven't been that banged up this year, which I was thinking about, well, yeah, knock on whatever this is. I was thinking about that at Actice today. This it's been pretty remarkable like you look, you look at what's going on with Washington, obviously Philly for the second straight years dealing with a lot of stuff, even you know the Giants. Odell's not on injured reserve, but he's been dealing with that for a few weeks. We'll

get into it. There are several guys that were starters that are on IR now, Like you know, fans want to screen bloody murder, Like, oh, our training regiment is tera, Like we gotta get new people in here because our guys are all hurt. Nobody says anything when you're remarkably healthy, and that's there's a lot of luck that goes into it, no doubt. You know, this is just a physical sport,

so it's injuries have to be built into it. You know that you're supposed to have injuries at this point, so the fact that you don't there is some luck. What's the stat on Dak? Was it you that told me that about Dak playing every game? Yeah? I wanted to say that if he finished the season without and without missing a game, He's want to say it's the

most consecutive starts for guys starting his career quarterback. I want to say I think it might be or second Orthur somewhere in there, Like it's definitely in the wreck. Don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure the status he's the first Cowboys quarterback ever to start three sixteen games three times in a row. Because you think about you think about him, yep in you know, Romo injuries for one reason or another. Stabak was in and out of the lineup a couple of times at the beginning of

his career. You think about the way he's built, Like he's built in a way where you would think he can see because he's been sacked a ton. I mean, that's the remarkable thing. Think about how many times he's been hit this year. Yeah, the fact that he's managed to continue to play without any major injuries or injuries out at least sidelining for a game, that's pretty remarkable.

I can look this up and I will. But three three years in a row to start a career, three straight winning season, I'd like to see how many quarterbacks have done that, just to start across the league. Yeah. Ever, I mean, you start a career and you've had day one straight winning seasons, I guarantee you it's not a long list. I'm tired at all. And and you know Brady comes to mind. Are you saying, like so you're saying his rookie year would count when he didn't play

at all to start a career. Roethlisberger probably Urger, I'm sure did that. But I mean, you gotta have nine in a row. I mean you gotta have I mean, I mean, you gotta have nine three years in a row. So it's not many. Marino might have done it. I mean you know this. Every time I have these types of conversations, it just you know, the cynic in me. I'm like, this is why Jason Garrett wanted to win that Philly game last year. Yes, yea one hundred percent

for him. For Dak, like Taylor just asked, it doesn't look anywhere near as good if you're like, well, he he had two winning seasons and an eight and eight, Like it doesn't sound anywhere near. It's the same thing with with double digit wins, like getting this tenth win, Like it doesn't matter to this fan, to fans and the people that are talking about this game, but I guarantee you they want that tenth win. Yeah, absolutely want that tenth win. Yeah, all right, let's take our first break.

When we come back, Dave kind of alluded to it. We're gonna talk a little bit about this Giants team. Not necessarily a full scotting report, but we're gonna talk about some of the differences between the offenses and the defenses for the Giants when the Cowboys played them in week two versus when they'll match up with them in week seventeen. Will do that when we come right back. This is Dallas Cowboys dot Com Radio. If you're like me and you love I mean, if you have a

Life in the SWBC Mortgage studios at the Star Talking Cowboys Football, Talking Cowboys versus Giants days gonna give us a little bit of an update. Excuse me on where the cow the Giants are offensively and defensively relative to where they were in week two. What changes have happened, Dave between those two in those

two units. I am a big believer in the value. Are we trying to win this game? I will determ me how much I care about when you say we are you referring to er talking about us like I'm glad, I'm glad you said. I just want to know first when you say when you say we, like are they're probably trying to win the game. I'm just trying to get through this like that's which get through it healthy.

I am a big believer in the like journalism is important to me, full disclosure, transparency, all that good stuff. I didn't watch a liquid tape on this team. I don't care, I do, I'm not. I'm sorry. I will not be charting this game by the third quarter. It's the holidays. I went to see my family, I got flights to book and things to worry about. I didn't watch any of this team and I'm not sorry about it. Um,

But now give us an update. It is remarkable. I kind of wish you would have you would have been here for the five and eleven seasons, oh, because it changes your perspective on that. Like I get it, like this is not going to be on a you know, ESPN's Instant Classic. But I mean I don't. I don't look at it like that. I look at it because we've had for three years in a row. We had to do that. Yeah, and cover these games, not just that,

you had to do the month of December. Yeah, and find stuff that matters and find maybe this guy can set a record in this And I'm I'm already looking at what vander esh tackles. You know he's at. Yeah, But here's a difference, Nick, Here's a difference. If you're in December and you know you're not going to the playoffs, the kind of things you're looking for that you can find and you can make relevant for fans, that's different than you're going to the playoffs. But you got this

little game you gotta do before you get there. Like, those are two completely different games. But I guarantee last year I probably wasn't in the same boat as y'all were, Or maybe I don't know last year going into Philly Like it's a game. I mean, it's a game matters. I will say, well for different reasons. I well, I don't want to misspeak because I mean, this game has value. I'm I'm fascinated and excited to see what Darius Jackson gets to do in this game. Like there's definitely there's

valuable things that you can find stuff take. Yeah, sure, and yeah it's a game like preseason you only get to play sixteen. Yeah. And anybody that's listening to this ship like it's not like y'all listening at home aren't gonna watch to say show, but you stopped. No, I know I was gonna say show. I wasn't gonna say the other thing. Anybody listening to this show is gonna watch The Giant Like nobody's not gonna watch just because

you know the playoffs are clenched. I just but I'm not gonna like, I mean, I go, I go home two nights a week during the season and watch tape for at least an hour, if not two or three, you know, like to you know, what what do they do? What do they do? Well? What does this look like? What does this guy do? I'm sorry. I'm not doing that. Yeah, and I'm not. I'm not. I don't blame him for that part. Um. Anyway, this is a remarkably different team. You know. It's crazy the the unique names, the big

names that are gone. And that's what happens when you play one game in week two and the other one in week seventeen. Remember Eric Flowers, he's on another team. He's on another team. He's long gone. How about Damon miss him Sacks? How about Snacks? He's gone to He's in Detroit. They traded him in October. Eli Apple, Uh, you know now hidden to the playoffs? We do. I mean it's crazy. Gallup knew exactly where he was behind him. Uh. And then I mean there are some guys that are

still on the team. Odell Beckham is not going to play. He caught four for fifty one in week two. I would I would assume he's not gonna play. I don't know that for had a quad injury, been out two weeks now. Yeah, sank my fantasy season. Thanks. Olivier Vernon did not play in these teams first meeting, and I imagine that he will play in this game. Um So if they were doing a Sunday night game on NBC when they kind of put their names and faces up there.

What does it look like? Eli Manning, Eli Manning, Ole Miss, Sequon Barkley, Penn State. Uh, what Sterling Shepherd Oklahoma, Russell Shepherd Louisiana State. Let's go um Evan Ingram. Evan Ingram, who has actually been pretty good here the last couple of weeks. He has he come back going another guy who sank my fantasy season. Um. Three of their five starting olie him and have changed. They've had bad luck with that. Obviously. They got rid of Flowers, John good luck,

John Halapio. I think I think he got hurt in that first game against the Cowboys. He was their starting center. He's not there anymore. Uh. Jamon Brown has taken over at Reich guard. So there's a decent amount of change here. Josh Morrow is starting where Snacks used to start. Uh. And this one's fun. You know he's on the team, or you should because he was there for the first game.

But B. W. Webb is now starting and playing pretty well for them, starting opposite of Jenores Jenkins, Jet Jack Rabbit. If you will, yeah, um, if you will. So Michael Gallup is probably gonna get a nice little look at him. So that'll be b W web fourth round pick. Where do you know, a shout out to the queues where your web no close? That's what's Jones well, b W web boom fourth round pick. Yeah, the brush And what did you used to call him? Oh? I did not

come up. Row Ash Well, me and Rowan called him Billy Willie Webb. And then Tim McMahon, who does Tim Tim McMahon doesn't even cover the cowboys anymore, but he called He said BW stood for burned whenever yea burned whenever Webb. He's better now. Twenty thirteen was a rough season. He looks like he's playing he's playing pretty good for them. Yeah, the cast of the cast of characters has changed a little bit. I mean se Quon's still there. He caught

He caught fourteen passes in that first game. Um oh yeah, Eli, he could be a problem for years to come. Eli's gonna Eli. He's Eli has picked his play up a little bit here down in the final month, but he's he's still Eli. You know. It's interesting to me, like they seem like they're playing better here the last absolutely, And here's the interesting part. Arguably their best offensive player and their best defensive player are out. You know, Odell's out,

and then their safety has been out. Now he's on IR, but he's been out Landing. Yeah, Landings still there though he missed. I thought he's been missing the last few weeks, and I thought he was I actually thought he was on IR. He's not on IR. Hang on, now you're throwing me off and pull up the injury report. I don't. I didn't see him on it. No, he's not even on the injury report. But is that you're sure he's not an IR. No, he's definitely not on I. Okay,

he's in the starting I'm thinking about somebody else. I thought Landon Collins was out. Landon Collins is not out. But Generas has battled some injuries this year. He's helped Trusty and then, uh, that'd be different. It'd be very different. But Olivier Vernon has dealt with injuries and um and then obviously Snacks isn't there, and that's big. For my money, he was one of the most underrated guys on in the HO was hard to run against him for a couple of years. But yeah, Snacks was right there in

the middle. Yeah, guarantee, if his nickname was like Big Damon or something like that, you wouldn't like Big dam Snack. I kind of like Big dam that work. And he's a good name. He is. He is, You've been one like he's the guy that you've been wanting this team forever. No, No, I'm not saying, but I'm just saying I think that I think names matter a lot. I really do. I think that if the guy's name, if we call him Snacks, I think people like him more. I would agree with that.

I'm trying to think of another I'm trying to think. I mean, I just I think or Lucky Whitehead's name was like Billy Jones, I don't think he would. Or if people just called him Rodney instead of Lucky, well some people called him Rodney when he wasn't but um or whatever happened with that. Yeah, I'm staking identity. Okay, So because his stats, well we're talking about the Giants, but his stats, I'm looking at his stats and they don't have stats on him past twelve two. Maybe he's kpe.

So it makes me think that if they don't have stats since twelve two that maybe he's not around, but I don't know. Maybe maybe I'm missing something here, m now, we just got some awesome dead air here. Might he tore his labor him against the Bears, but he's still listed in the lineup. And I mean this means he's not playing. I'm giving away my seekers. But our lads maintain like they keep depth charts for all these teams,

and he's right here in the starting lineup. They updated every freaking day, Like if a guy tears his achilles on Tuesday afternoon, he's out of the lineup by Tuesday night. Damn a ghost. And then Collins will not be there. Here's tay this we'll know exactly. We'll know exactly playing for the Seahawks. And who's not playing? Yeah, I know this. Earl Thomas is out. Earl, he's not playing for Seattle. Actually, we're gonna have a question about that in the next segment.

Would you go after Earl? We're gonna have to talk about that. We haven't talked about Earl in a long time. Oh boy, do we have to. We're gonna have to talk about her. Okay, yeah, um, difference maker in that game. No, he was absolutely, no, he was. Yeah, that's that's how David. Yeah, yeah, yeah, No, I am, I am he They put him on injured reserve on December sixth. There we go. Why is he still in the lineup on a depth chart? That's that's

not Christmas? The day after Christmas? That should a question should be after you apologize to him. You don't have to apologize. Sorry he was following his paper. No, but I could have done a little more research, which I didn't, because this game doesn't mean anything. It's the season of forgiveness. Thank you, I forgive you? Um that why you finished second? Is that why you finished secondly? I finished first in one league, get it right? But not both? Not both?

I did not Why you're in a kind of a bad mood the other day? Yes, yes, nick, nick point, it's it's funny, like you know, they beat the Buccaneers. They don't even look convincing doing it. They beat the Buccaneers and we're laughing, not knowing who's starting at safety

for the Giant, our best defensive players in playing. But I'm but everybody would be crapping their pants about this game if it meant something, Because you're right, the Giants were one and seven, Yes, so to be five and ten right now, I mean they've played I mean they've played above five hundred football since October basically and then in the league. But their perspective does this game obviously it doesn't mean anything, but to them, do these that's

fear differently the Giants. Yeah, yeah, for the Giants, like are you trying to play this to win it? They I'm not trying to be funny or are they still wearing the this Are they still wearing the star on their helmet? Because if their cowboys come out there with that star, the answer is yes, they're trying to win that game. Yeah it is. It's stripes, yeah, say, it's

just the way that Yeah, they're gonna win. Guys talked about at the beginning of the show, like these stats follow coaches, they follow quarterbacks, they follow you know, so when you talk about wins and losses, that one extra win matters. It looks differently. Seven and nine looks different than six and ten, right, So, and I don't know where they are. What's what's their record right now? Five and ten? Five? Yeah, so get to six and ten verses five and eleven, I mean five and eleven and

six and ten to me is different. So there's a foods. I was hoping they would get to six. Yeah, no doubt, So I think, yeah, I think they're definitely gonna be out there ready to play and and see what happens. Now, that doesn't mean and Nick always says this and he's absolutely right about it. Yes, where this work, Where this there's a difference is are they working hard today? Yeah? Like, are they really studying tape today? Are they really studying

tape yesterday? Where they on Christmas Day looking at tape and doing all the things that you do to prepare yourself for a game. The next week, they'll show up for the game and they'll play hard, But are they doing all the preparation during the week. And that's where you know it kind of is the difference. I think it is for sure. But that's it's it's something that you don't I didn't get perspective on, at least until

I started working here and working with these people. Is I mean, hey, it's a job, and I get there's there are guys across the league that are checked out and have their flight book to turn on every tas on every single team, But I didn't hear what you said. I didn't hear. I just this is a reason. I mean, this is a job, and I think the vast majority of these guys taken immense amount of pride in it, and they also the vast majority of them really love it.

You want to put bad tape out there you don't remember, embarrass yourself, embarrass your team, hurt your prospects of future earnings, all that type of stuff. And so for the I mean, there are definitely guys on this Giant's team that couldn't care less, but I've the vast majority of them want to end this thing on a strong note. For sure. There was a game a couple of years ago. I don't remember why gaming was, but it was not a

good loss. The Cowboys lost. We were on the plane and the players were walking around like smiling and stuff, and I just like after a game, yeah, after they lost, and I was so upset, I'm like, why are you laughing? Right now? In my mind, you know, like, why are you laughing? Why are even smiling? Go to your seat and be the price or something. B side be upset. But then you realize, like you said, it is a job, like and fans and including myself, I get upset certain things,

but this is a job. Yes, whether they lose or win, it's it is what it is, and they're still gonna just like any other job. But people see it the biggest, the big Like if fans could see people's demeanors after games, especially like losses, by the time they get to the plane, because sometimes you can see the play. Yeah it's after a loss, it's not good. But if if fans could sometimes see the demeanor of guys two or three hours

after loss, they would lose their mind. And my rebuttal to that is always, you have a terrible day at work, what do you do? I go to the bar and blow offs team. I absolutely and so don't come at me with that. Basically, I learned that my first two road trips on this team in nineteen ninety nine. A lot of people not gonna remember these games. They couldn't

have been two different plane ride backs. I mean, I mean two different finishes at Washington opening day, down twenty one in the fourth quarter, tied the game, got to overtime, rocket ismil to touch down. Most exciting. That was my first game. Pretty cool. On the way back, everyone was kind of excited. Yeah, okay. And then week four at Philly there their winless Cowboys are undefeated. Michael Irving goes down with a broken spying vertebrae neck, never plays again,

stays in Philly. They lose the game, and it was like a miserable loss. It's about the same on the way back, and I thought, man, this is exactly what then I realized. Right then, by the time the buses and by the time we get taken off, it's a job, like you said, and they and honestly, they have to do that because the more you dwell in your own misery, or the more you stay too high on that win, the more you can get overconfident or you can lose

your confidence. And so you have to be as a professional. You have to be able to say, at some point rather quickly, okay, that is what it is. We either want or we lost. I put that aside. I move on to the next game. Romo dropping the ball in Seattle, and that that playoff game was like a funeral. It was like the quiett I mean that one was saying.

And there are games like there are definitely that there are wins and losses that buck that trend like I mean, I've seen you know, We've been on the plane after wins where I'm like, holy crap, did we win the Super Bowl and nobody told me yeah. And then I've been after lost it's like, oh my god, it's a few years ago that game. All right, let's take our final break. At the Start, Nick tells about Tommy John. Tommy John, Um, what's the best underwear ever? Yeah? Found something this morning. It was good. Found. Yeah. I didn't I didn't think there was any left, but there actually was. Don't think there's some about No, you

were gonna sell your dad's line. I don't know. He had that look kind of like it's probably inappropriate, which means that you know, it's good Nick, because Nick's filter is now it's not really it's just kind of there's some there's some gray area there. But basically he thinks that we should. Um, you know, it's like a good defense. You know, it's like a cover of he said it's a cover two defense really, but I think it's really

more of a cover three especially for guys. But um, then again they have guys girls underwear, so it's really kind of complicated. So it's a lot of coverages, right, Yeah, that's what you don't do just one thing. You want to mix and Matt Yeah, yeah, do different coverage. Yeah, a little bit of zone. So yeah, Tommy John dot com forward sized Cowboys permison off your first order. Yeah, all right, good, get you some Tommy John. If you didn't get him for Christmas, and if you did get

him for Christmas. Then you know we're talking about so go get some more. Yeah, don't you got it down. I'm just saying, all right, let's get into some questions. Eight five two two ninety seven is our number. We have a call first from Felton and North Carolina. Felton, what up? Hey, what's going on? Everyone? Hey? Happy holidays too. I just want to say I greatly appreciate all that

you guys do. Thank you. Thancial appreciation goes to Amber this season and Bar this season, but Amber, Amber, Amber, Oh, I think with you a whole lot this season and finally someone that thank you. Look, I've been trying to get through to let you know that that's that's very important. I really hold what you say in high regard. Yeah. Absolutely to get to my point or comments today, and I really want to hear back from you guys about this. So I've been listening to all of the podcasts, and

I hear a lot going on about Jason Garage. I guess adamants about you know, winning this game or playing all the players, and I'm just like scratching my head because I remember a couple of years ago to speak to your point about numbers, Derek and records. There was a chance to have the best Cowboy record I think a fourteen wins, and we played back four quarters. Zeke

didn't play. It was that was momentum, that was their rookie season, and that was the time to leave those guys in and let them continue what they were doing. And you had Tony Romo as a backup for the playoffs if anything were to happen, so even more of a reason for that game to have meant something. But it didn't mean that much that year. And here we are a season we backed into the playoffs with the same record we basically had last year. Who backed into

the playoffs? I don't know if how you can say they backed into the playoffs? How do they back into the playoffs? Because the division was absolutely almost completely trash and you win the division almost completely fairly trash again, Okay, okay, I don't think they backed into the plays. Finish your point and we'll talk about it. Sorry, yeah, yeah, exactly, and we can go back over this. It's cool. I don't mind at that point, because you won the division, so it's hard to win it back in when you

won the division. But I understand that. So the rest of my point is we've clinched. We got a lot of players that are hurt, tired, beat up. Like this is the time I've heard Nate said, you play who's who's able to, but you see people that need it. Man to me, Zeke man, he needs a break. He I not admit it, but I'm looking at him in like, if anybody needs to just take the week off as him, We're appreciate. That's good. We appreciate the said. I wonder if he's seen our website today because we have a

feature on Darius Jackson. Um if the Cowboys are trying to win this game and go, you know, go, you know, try to get into the playoffs or whatever, and and you know, going on, Zeke, we're not writing a feature on Darius Jackson. You go back to that Philly game that you're referring to, or don't forget there was a bye week after that, which I that could make your point or that could that could be against It depends

on how you think about that bye week. But I guarantee you Jason Garrett was saying the exact same thing he's saying this week. So let's just wait and see how it plays out. Before he's saying we're going to prepare to win and all that kind of stuff. Let's see what happens if you're in the fourth quarter and and he's running the ball and Zeke's still in the game. You keep scratching your head. But let's see how it

plays out. Because I have a feeling you're gonna see some guys start game and all that, and then yeah, it might be a little different. That's the wording of this gives them so much leeway, Like the guys that guys that need a break are gonna get a break. Everybody needs a break right now. Za Zach Martin is not gonna play in this game, but he just played in a game like he could play in this game. He's not going to right, They're gonna be smart. Zeke Elliott is not going to play. He's not gonna get

thirty touches in this game. I'll bet my house. I don't own a house, but I'll bet it like it's bet Derek's house. It's not gonna happen. Yeah, people stuff the one thing, the one that gives me pause. I'd be I'd be shocked if Tank is still playing late into this game. The one that gives me pauses Dak because he's had some really good moments this year, he's had plenty of bad is momentum thing, How do you

want to work that? I would. I would be kind of surprised if he plays all four quarters, but but I also wouldn't be surprised if he if he does, like I don't. That's the one that I really don't know what they're gonna do. And I think you can make an argument either way, like he needs to play, he needs the reps and the chemistry. Verse said get him the hell out of there, said it yesterday. I said, I don't know which I'll agreed on this, Jack Martin zero.

These are quarters, yeah, Zeke one, Yeahack two? That is that is what I would do. Yeah, and Cooper to get Tank out of there. The other thing I would and that And that's that's exactly why I would sit Dak as well, because it's the same things out. That's when Dak's coming out. I don't put I don't take one out without the other. And yeah, and I agree with I mean, Darius Jackson wouldn't be on this roster right now if they were going to play Zeke all

four quarters. I don't think um. So yeah, I think they're they're gonna be judicious about this. The other things. You know, y'all know, I'm the guy that sits here every summer and is like, don't play anybody in these games. This isn't the preseason. You don't have ninety guys. Somebody has to play the whole way. You've only got forty six, So sorry, you know the MALIEK. Collinses and Coco Charlton's and Lyle Colony. Somebody's got to play this game. It

just that's the way it works. But you you're injured players, you're Pro Bowl players there that will be smart here. I'll be surprised if they really go the distance in this game. That really is the key. You can say one thing, and we've heard, we've seen this before where Jason will say, yeah, we're playing this game, We're playing this game to win. You get to the game, it's a little bit different. You can see the differences and how much guys are playing and win guys are out.

So I think they'll be smart about this. I think he wants everybody to kind of get a taste. But at some point He's gonna be smart, I think, and make sure that guys are at least going to get a little bit of rest and not like you said, you shouldn't expect that Zeke's going to carry a full load this week, right the other things, Oh, go ahead, and I think we're about to say the same. I'm not gonna try to convince you that the NFC East is the best division in football. It's absolutely not. It

is not the best division in football. The Chiefs and the Chargers, they're the NFC South is pretty nasty, But give me a break. I mean, they got two teams right now that could get still. Eagles are for You got two teams alive, you could have two of the six teams to be from the East. The red Skins, despite everything that happened to them, we're alive up until a week sixteen, which no moral victories in the NFL.

But that is an accomplishment in and of itself. To lose Alex Smith, to lose your whole defensive line, YadA, YadA, YadA. And they're still in it up to six and the Eagles look as scary as anybody in the league right now. And that's with a bunch of injuries on that. So I don't want to hear that the division is trash, and especially you know, if the Cowboys had lost to Tampa and it worked out and they want it by default, all right, we can talk. But they won a game

to clinch their division. That's accomplish. That's exactly what I was going to talk about about it. They didn't back into it. And remember this, when you have a team that's a division that's not very good, you're the reason why they're not that good. You've put two losses on the Eagles, you put one on the Redskins, you put one on the Giants, and you know, maybe about to

put two losses on there. So I mean, there's a reason why one team is a lot better than the others because they're the ones playing them and knocking them down that way. I mean. So, I don't know. I think it's been it's been an average division, competitive for sure, and you know the Cowboys are got the hats to prove it. Ye all right, appreciate you never apologize for winning your division. Absolutely, all right, We'll be back tomorrow. We'll talk a little bit more about Cowboys versus Giant.

Still then for Niki Men, Dave Helmet, amber Garcia. I'm Derek, he will. This has been The Break live on Dallas Cowboys dot Com Radio. This has been a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
