Speaker 2

Cowboys Let's go.

Speaker 3

Are you ready for a break?

Speaker 4

Yes?

Speaker 2

Are you ready for a break? Absolutely?

Speaker 3

Ready for a break?

Speaker 5

Yeah, And so much for that.

Speaker 1

It's time for the Break on Dallas Cowboys dot Com. We were right with Mbar Garcia, Brian brought us, Patrick Walker and Derek Eagleton.

Speaker 6

It is Tuesday, December fifth, twenty twenty three, Season nineteen, episode number eighty two. Welcome to the latest edition of The Breakwheel, live from that WBC Mortgage studios. At the start, we got our full crew back in here. I do not have my full voice back yet, though, but we're gonna power through again today and talk a little Cowboys football with you guys. I got a During the mid quarters portion of the show, we're gonna get in to what I call our final trimester preview for the final

five games this season. I got some questions for these guys. To help set that all up, we'll do some player evaluations. There's some players that I think we haven't talked about enough that I think maybe we should have some conversations about. And I'm gonna throw out some names and toss it up and let these guys go, which they do so well, and we'll have a little lap coat in the final segment. I'm sure Patrick is ready for that, and if he's not, he's got like about forty minutes to be able to.

Speaker 7

Prop All right, cool, And I have a game which you made me prepare for.

Speaker 6

Wait, back up, back up. I thought, no, no, did we can do the game yesterday?

Speaker 7

No, Derek, we.

Speaker 6

Didn't go to her in the final segment for the game.

Speaker 7

We did questions, questions.

Speaker 3

Yeah, okay, we're gonna rush this week.

Speaker 7

So this is what I got to deal with.

Speaker 8

But it's okay because we all know you and we know you didn't fully prepare for this show today. So we have between Patrick and I enough stuff. Good with the lab coat and then but mine is a short game.

Speaker 7

It's nothing too wild, you know.

Speaker 6

The interesting thing is like everybody, everybody in the whole world should have an amber in their life because I don't care what you do and what you accomplished. They will make sure you never ever do too much of your humility. So I think amber for being that person in my life, you need an ambering.

Speaker 8

And and for people real quick real quick before right before the show started that we went on air and minding my own business, looking stuff up on my laptop and Derek just decides to close my laptop.

Speaker 9

So this.

Speaker 7

Is what started.

Speaker 8

And so just so the people don't think I'm, you know, a meanie.

Speaker 6

Yeah, I'm just having my little sister around. So as it comes that, you know, it just it works.

Speaker 2

All right.

Speaker 6

Let's talk a little bit about mister Shack Leonard. He makes a decision yesterday, he's gonna sign with the Philadelphia Eagles. What's your reaction.

Speaker 4

I mean, you know, I wanted him here on record, is wanting him to hear. Obviously, it goes without saying I don't like his decision, but I understand his decision, just as I would have understood if he had chosen

the Cowboys. But he sat back and he watched the Eagles get demolished at Lincoln Financial Field by the forty nine ers, And that probably led to Sirianni, who has a pre existing relationship with him from their time in Indianapolis, and Roseman calling him back up and maybe you know, changing or you know, making the parameters of their offer a little bit more attractive, and that might have been the tie breaker, but I'm confident that the Cowboys package, as far as what they sold to him, was an

easy one. We talked about what that involves and everything without getting back into that, but you know, he he chose a side. So now the Cowboys' goal needs to be to make him regret his decision. And I will also say that while I was all in on adding Shaq Leonard, I'm still all in on what Marquise Bell does. And you know, the continued growth of Damon Clark, and obviously I would like to see more from Rashawan Everson

as far as impact goes. The workload is there, the snapcount is there, but I want to see as time goes if he can continue to grow in dan Quinns system. So it's not having shackling. It is not going to be anything that costs the Cowboys the season, I don't believe. But having him would have definitely been that luxury item that would have possibly taken them over the top, is how I look at it.

Speaker 3

Could have absolutely used him, could have absolutely used him because I think it would have freed up Bell to do some other things that you probably need to figure out. The safety group has not played up to the standards that it needs to defensively. I mean, when they're really good on defense, it's their safety. They're really good up the middle of the field, and right now I think they're struggling a little bit with that with right now, and I think that would have allowed Bell to maybe

have some other responsibilities. Not taking him off the field, but maybe you put him out there in a situation where now he's in coverage with tight ends. Maybe you put him in a situation where he's dealing with backs, maybe you're using him as a spy for some stuff, but you free him up. Leonard would have come in, you know absolutely what. I think he would have helped you in the run defense aspect of it. He's got lenked, he's got ability to play downhill. He's the sideline, the

sideline guy. You know. Maybe the metrics are not totally positive for him, but I think it's a better option because I think it would have freed up some other players to do some things. I don't think this came down to money. I think it came down to really what he viewed as an opportunity. The Eagles are probably a little bit more banged up at linebacker than you are and so, and maybe he wanted just to you know, maybe he had that relationship with with Nick Sirianni from

his days in Indianapolis. He also had a relationship with a couple of Cowboy players. But you know it just at the end of the day, it's not going to work out for you that way. Both teams wanted this guy, uh And I think that's something you don't lose focus of if people, you know, if you're one of those fans that say, well, the injuries and all that, I don't want the guy, Well your front office wanted this guy, you know, don't forget that. You could push it off

however you want. He made the decision. The Cowboys wanted this guy. The Philadelphia Goals wanted this guy. He chose Philadelphia. That was his decision. I think, like Patrick said, I think the Cowboys made a generous offer to him. It's a one year deal and but we'll see, you know, the playing time will probably be more for him in Philadelphia. And maybe that's the decision that he made and that's

what he based it on. I don't think the Cowboys have anything to be ashamed of or embarrassed by players makes decisions all the time he had he was holding all the cards here. But make no bones about it. Both teams wanted this guy, and they were willing to put aside a lot of injury history to get this guy, and that's not something it always has done in this front office. They believe in Jim Mauer, they believe in

Britt Brown, you know, they believe in all this. And when they say, hey, he's got this, but we'll sign off on it, you're damn straight. The Cowboys wanted this guy. It just didn't work out this time.

Speaker 9

Me.

Speaker 7

I was like, whatever, bro, they didn't even want you anyway. They didn't want you anyway. Now, totally kidding.

Speaker 8

I completely agree with everything you guys said, and I thought it was gonna be one of those uh done deals, especially after the loss against the Eagles.

Speaker 7

I'm like, what do you want to go there? That's exactly what No. I get it, I get it. No, good luck too, and I got his decision. Whatever. But it's one of those things.

Speaker 8

Okay, I'm glad now we can move forward and it's not one of those that keep I mean, you can't really drag it out because it's December and you got to make a decision. But I'm just glad it wasn't one of those situations where you're it goes into like, now one week turns into two weeks type of situation, which we have gone through players around here.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Speaker 7

Absolutely, so, Yeah.

Speaker 6

You know, one of the interesting things is, if the reports are accurate, one of the reasons why he was kind of falling out in India is because he wanted to play more. He wanted to be a three, three down player and he had been reduced to basically being

a two down player. And if you start thinking about how the Cowboys match up, my suspicion is he probably would have been used as a two down player here in Dallas, that they would have had safeties on the field on third down, and so maybe that was the difference. Maybe that was the instance where he's like, I kind of left that because that's not what I wanted. I don't know that I want to go back into that type of situation when that's really what I was trying

to get away from. In Philadelphia, with all the injuries they had, they may not have any choice but to play him on all three downs, and it give him an opportunity to do what he thinks he could still do, so look all the way around. And I heard you say this on one on five dot three the Fan yesterday, Brian. I think it's this two point that nobody really knows

other than him. But I do think relationships matter. I think he's got some relationships up there that you don't necessarily have here, and I think that makes a difference. And I do believe that's also a part of it. And talked to Shack Leonard, But I would guess that as it would be for any of us, when you have relationships going into a work environment, it makes the work environment better, right, It makes it you can trust that person a little bit more because you know them, you have history.

Speaker 2

With him sore percent.

Speaker 4

I think ultimately for him it probably was a fifty

one to forty nine type deal. I think he legitimately went into this past weekend as a fifty to fifty yet coming out of both the visits from here and in Philly, and he just wanted to watch the games and see how things transpired, have a couple more conversations with the people he has relationships with, and then ultimately it was fifty one to forty nine Philly, and it probably likely went to relationships, but also the fact that, like you said, the Cowboys would like to have him here,

the Eagles absolutely need him there, And because they absolutely need him, he's virtually guaranteed to get on that field as a starter and get as many reps as he wants, which is what he was not getting in Indianapolis, in which he was unsure that he would get in Dallas. He knows for a fact that he's going to get it in Philadelphia.

Speaker 6

So yep, all right, here's we're gonna do. We're gonna go ahead and take a qu early, quick, early break. We're going to come back. We're going to get into our final trimester preview. We'll do that in a second. As the Dallas Cowboys dot Com Radio.

Speaker 6

Welcome back, second segment of The Break live from the SWBC Mortgage studios. At the start, the segment brought to you by blockchain dot Com. All right, let's do our final trimester preview. I've got a list of four questions I'm gonna ask you guys about the final five games of the season. Let's start with the first question, Who is the toughest opponent left on the schedule. You got

Philadelphia at Buffalo, at Miami, and then Detroit. I'm not gonna throw in Washington and Washington right now, but let's talk about those four. Which is the toughest opponent left on the schedule.

Speaker 2

I'm going with Miami.

Speaker 4

I think Miami is a nightmare fuel as far as their offense is concerned, that speed at every position, and their ability to stretch you pre snap latterally before they'd stretch you vertically. It's just it's dangerous stuff. And then you talk about Tyreek Hill, the only wide receiver that is worthy to be in the MVP conversation. And then the chemistry he and Tua have right now, and Mike McDaniels is doing some special stuff down there in Miami.

You talk about what Kyle Shanahan is doing out west with San Francisco, Well McDaniels is doing the same thing, if not a little bit more creative down in Miami. So I mean, obviously, the Eagles are going to give you everything they got, but there's some familiarity there, right. You don't have that familiarity with with the Miami Dolphins. I'm not going to say the Buffalo Bills. They are

up and down. I think you can handle that. Weather's going to be a factor obviously, but you know, Detroit Lions are going to give you a big a couple handfuls actually, But for me, it's it's that Miami Dolphins game in Miami really jumps out get an idea.

Speaker 2

Well, she's not going to Miami.

Speaker 3

So I'm gonna go with no.

Speaker 8

No. I was gonna say they're Miami is a very very competitive team and they've caught everybody's attention. They've started changing things over there, and they're just they're really good and it's gonna be one of those things that the Cowboys do have to travel to their home.

Speaker 7

Which my second second week.

Speaker 8

But so it's it's gonna be a tough one just given what we've seen the Cowboys do on the road, you know, against really good opponents. So that's mainly the reason why I would think there would be the toughest one.

Speaker 7

But Buffalo, I'm gonna hate that game. It's gonna be.

Speaker 8

Called our last Buffalo trip was was terrible.

Speaker 3

Everything was the last one I went on.

Speaker 6

The weather can't change obviously this far out. But I looked it up the other day. It doesn't look horrible for Buffalo in December. I think the highs in like the forties and low in the thirties. It was virtual only little win for them. It was like nine ten mile an hour win. Uh and no precipitation. You get that in Buffalo in December. Think of yourself as blessed like that is a great day for football in Buffalo

and December. We'll see it's supposed to snow earlier that week, but no snow by the end of the week, so we'll see there.

Speaker 3

And everything was terrible, right, Brian, bad trip, bad trip all around, man so bad. I said, I'm not doing this. They drove me off the road.

Speaker 6

Is that the trip?

Speaker 3

Did I quit? Like I quit, Eric, I'm not, I'm not going you got.

Speaker 7

I'm sorry. I switched to Spanish the first second.

Speaker 8

Brian was like, if we leave this plane here in Houston, I'm getting off, Rob, I'm getting off the plane. I'm getting a rental car, and whoever wants to come with me can come.

Speaker 7

But I'm.

Speaker 2

Flying.

Speaker 6

Yeah, he'll Rob and Brian, the two of them on a plane, like you experience the turbul you're gonna start gettinglew.

Speaker 3

We flew through a tornado, is what we did. We couldn't land in Dallas, and the plane was gas. We're running out of gas. We had to fly and then we and then we had to fly back through. We flew over Dallas to get to Houston, so we couldn't land, and so we had to fly. And I said, you open that door. I'm out of I would jump down off the thing. I would jump down and get a car. I'll walk the tarmac. And that was it. I told Derek, I said, you got a beautiful studio here. We're gonna

start doing Catholic show in the studio. And he goes, Okay, it's not a good idea. But it's Miami. Miami. They'll throw the ball and they won't let you throw the ball. And that's your two the two strenths right now. I mean, you've got to play pass defense against Miami. You got to deal with their speed. It's very, very tough. They're gonna have to do with your uh, your ability to rush the passer into it in a way that very creative offense. We all kind of understand that with Miami.

But defense, I don't think they get enough credit for their defense because they don't let you throw the ball. Philly will let throw the ball. Philly lets you throw the ball to the point where you can beat him throwing the ball. You know. So I kind of feel like Miami not a common opponent, not somebody have a whole hell of a lot of confidence in. I think the last time we went there, Tony Romo got to win when we went to the that was one of

the games we did. But yeah, it's Miami just because of how they are matchup wise, offensive, defensively.

Speaker 6

Which is the most important game of those four.

Speaker 4

The one coming up on Sunday against the Eagles, especially with the Eagles suffering that lost against the forty nine ers. Now the Cowboys take care of business and split the series against the Eagles, then effective Monday morning, the Cowboys have a first place in the NFC.

Speaker 6

What is that tiebreak because at that point right now tied, well, it'd be division record because the Cowboys will have the lead for one in the division, whereas the Eagles would be three to two.

Speaker 4

So the Cowboys would have the division lead by virtue of that alone, and then it plays out from there.

Speaker 6

Yeah, and there would be no way for Philly to catch them, unless doubt.

Speaker 3

There's there's a there's a conference record thing. I think that's evolved. And then there's a strength of wins that are involved to and they have never gets to that.

Speaker 6

I'm saying that gets that as long as the Cowboys take care business against Washington, right right.

Speaker 3

But there's a strength that there's a there's a component of the thing called strength of win. And they have a win against Kansas City, you have a win against because it's you really play common opponents, it's throughout.

Speaker 6

Just to be clear, you said there they've already in the Cowboy Were you saying in the division they have a three two record?

Speaker 4

No, the three Eagles are three and one in the division right now. If they lose to the Cowboys, who do they.

Speaker 6

Lose in the division?

Speaker 3

They have not lost, okay, so they'd be three and one in the Yeah, they're three and they've got Dallas and.

Speaker 2

Four and one. Cowboys will still take it because they.

Speaker 6

Have right but they effectively the Eagles could tie that one up because they would the rest of their games in the division. Then it would be come down to those other tie breaks, which that's that's gonna get real messy to figure out who would be the conference champion at that point.

Speaker 4

But but division, So they take the division on Monday, if they take the win against the Eagles four to one versus three to one in the division, and then things really get interesting because then you have to see what happens with the forty nine ers and a Seahawks team that looks like they're ready to play some football again, and then things just have to go out from there.

And the Cowboys, and we talked about strength of schedule going through the rest of the season, Cowboys have a much tougher road who were talking about after the Eagles, Buffalo and then Miami and then you have the Detroit Lions coming in town.

Speaker 3

The Detroit game is the most important game. Detroit's the most important because that's I think that one's going to come down to maybe determining seeding. You know, when you start to talk about that, when you know, if you take care of business and you get through the Detroit game, now it's going to talk about can you find a way is there possibly get the one seed? Are we

looking at maybe a two seed here? So I think the Detroit because I think Detroit's one of those teams you gotta watch for green Bay in that division now because then cose heat they look like they might be a six or seven in this thing. But who knows. If Detroit starts to go south, then maybe my prediction

of Detroit. I think, sure, all the games are super important, and you know, but the last one, I think that's the one that the Troy game is the one that's gonna matter whether you whether how you get seated or potentially maybe uh you know, maybe it might win the division for you if you get to that point.

Speaker 7

I understand that logic for sure.

Speaker 8

But this weekend, excuse me against the Eagles. There's nothing I want more right now than to beat the crap out of them this weekend because yes, you can hear it in my voice and and and you guys get it all the time on Twitter. You know best to now feed into it or but man, people.

Speaker 7

Are driving me nuts.

Speaker 8

But yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, oh yeah, because you guys are not afraid to respond their quote tweet and Brian is really gonnad that too. But right now, yeah, my focus is on this weekend and just like embarrass them hopefully hopefully it's not a very close game.

Speaker 4

But also it goes to that point, it also goes to morale going forward. I mean, you lose a close one in Philadelphia, you've already got blown the doors blown off by the forty nine ers. Yeah, you beat a very very capable Seahawks defense and you basically walk them

with forty one points. But the narrative is still kind of out there, like can you beat one of the top teams and here comes the Philadelphia Eagles who just got mopped by the forty nine ers, and you have an opportunity to create more fractures in their morality while also boosting yours and saying, you know what, we can starting off December with a win like that, and avoiding letting the Eagles sweep you, because if the Eagles sweep you, man, that's not how you want to start off this particular

part of your season, the most difficult part.

Speaker 2

So it also goes to morale as well.

Speaker 6

I'll tell you this one thing. I'm actually thinking, if the Cowboys beat Philadelphia this weekend, to me, it becomes even more important that they keep winning, that they don't drop a game, because here's what typically, here's what will happen in this situation. The Cowboys be Philly. I think the tie among all those teams means that San Francisco beat by virtual head to head and now becomes the

one seed. I no longer want the five seed if they're the one seed, because that means I'd have to win week one and then I gotta go to San Francisco in week two.

Speaker 3

Well that's unless the Green Bay finds a way to beat somebody that's the Maybe yet I.

Speaker 6

Don't I don't trust that. I don't trust that necessarily, but but I get your point.

Speaker 3

Depends It depends on who six seven is. If it's if it's Uh, it could be it could be green Bay, Seattle could be in that mix and maybe even the Rams, Yeah, could be in that mix.

Speaker 6

But the thing about it is, I don't see any of those teams that you just mentioned. I don't see either one of them going into Philadelphia or going into Detroit and beating those two teams. So my thought is they're gonna hold surf, Dallas upsets whoever is the fourth seed, and then it sets up for them to have to go to San Francisco going week two. That's the same scenarios last year. I don't necessarily want to see sid Detroit.

Speaker 3

Did you say you were about worried about somebody not beating Detroit. Yeah, Green Bay went to Detroit.

Speaker 6

Just I hear you, I hear you. But I'm saying in the playoffs, I trust Detroit to get that. I really do. In the playoffs at home, I trust Detroit to get that done. That all being said, you're right, anyone else seems can we know how the NFL goes right?

Speaker 3

Right?

Speaker 6

But my point is I don't necessarily if.

Speaker 3

I never was We're going to beat the Vikings last year, right exactly.

Speaker 6

I didn't never think that, And it happens every year, somebody upset somebody like we always see this. But I guess the point is if the Cowboys are going to beat Philadelphia and take them out of that one spot, now becomes even more imperative that Dallas is the division winner, because I want them being able to play at home in those playoff games and put off that matchup with San Francisco until the conference championship. If I can avoid them until the conference championship, that to me is the

best case scenario for Dallas. I don't want necessarily have to go and play at San Francisco in round two.

Speaker 4

I like what Mike mcarthy said yesterday as far as that's gone, that that's coming up. He said he's looking forward to it because this is baasically playoff football without the consequences of the playoffs. Yeah, this is by the end of December, we are going to know what this Dallas Cowboys team is going to do in the playoffs. I mean, I'm ninety nine point nine percent confident they're going into the playoffs. Question is how confident will they

be going into the playoffs? What kind of role will they or will they not be on going into the playoffs. So I love McCarthy's stance on I love that thought process and I believe that the locker room is bought into that as well. And it starts right here with getting that morale boost by, you know, knocking around the Philadelphia Eagles one week after they got knocked around by

the San Francisco forty nine ers. And then the conversation next week is it's finally no longer if it's you know, Eagles forty nine ers Cowboys, maybe it's then forty nine ers Cowboys Eagles, and it's a much better conversation for the Cowboys. But yeah, then they'd have to keep winning. But I mean they better plan on keep winning. Yeah, yeah, all this matter.

Speaker 3

Race is tight.

Speaker 6

All right, let's talk about the third question after you guys, position most concerns you for the remaining matchups? Is it defensive backs, linebackers, are right.

Speaker 4

Tackle, defensive becks, linebacker or right tackle?

Speaker 3

Already called out the safeties that concerns you more than those, Now the defensive backs, that includes the safeties and the c I just if you said individually though, and I'm trying to think because the right tackle I think has played very well. I think as a whole last week it was a little bit of struggle for all the guys, then you're gonna play some teams that can really get after you. Yep, we found out that they when the

right tackle doesn't play very well, they lose games. And so I think that would be a concern for me right now. But I am concerned about the safety play here.

Speaker 4

I would go with defensive becks and not not cornerbacks.

Speaker 2

So I'm with Brian.

Speaker 4

I would pull the safeties out of that, and be more specific, I would pull my leak hooker out of that as well, because I think he's for the most part been playing some really good buff.

Speaker 6

Let's be clear here. Let's be clear when you say pulled the cornerbacks out of it. Cornerbacks were having some issues this last game. The office actil he didn't right, And by the way, that's the kind of player he is. So when you're gonna match up against the Tyreek Kill and you're gonna match up against a Digs, you know you're gonna match up against it. You're gonna match up againt a J. Brown like you were matching up against

some of the best receivers in the NFL. I hear what you're saying, but the cornerbacks have to be a part of that conversation.

Speaker 2

That's fair.

Speaker 4

And while that's true, it's also true that it's the same cornerback unit that put the clamps on Pooka and Cooper Cup. It's the same cornerback unit that when they went into Philadelphia. Yeah, other than a perfect throw down the left side to de Vonte Smith that was indefensible and aj Brown getting that touchdown, for the most part,

they bottled up those receivers for the Philadelphia Eagles. So while to your point, blanded struggle the past couple of weeks as far as yardage allowed before he put the clamps on and said this is my interception and or this is my pick six, that's viable. That's a viable concern going forward. But I count that by simply saying there's also enough film to say I have enough confidence in the fact that Bland and Gilmore can get the job done. But when you look at the safety unit,

I believe Hooker is playing very well now one player too. Notwithstanding, I've seen better play from Curse over his previous seasons, but he's starting to kind of come on, but he's battling some injuries. My concern there is the I still don't see Primo Donovan Wilson yet. That's so when we're talking about safety play. That's my concern right now is I've seen flashes of Primo Donnal on the field, but I've not seen the twenty twenty two or twenty twenty

one Donald yet. And hopefully that Donald arrives in December, because keep him out again. This is a guy who didn't have any training camp because of cavstrain. But at the same time, we're having this conversation now on December fifth. Yeah, so December fifth, so now more and more that particular not excused, but that reason becomes less of an actual talking point. So when it comes to the safeties, I know Curse is battling some things, but for the most part,

I kind of agree with Brian. Outside of the league hooker, I have not concerns about Donovan Wilson, just wondering when he kicks back into twenty twenty two mode and how healthy is j Ron Kurt is going to be going into this cold stretch when you have to go to Buffalo and you're in December. So yeah, I'm with Brian on that one, and I'm Terrence Steel. Terrence still will be fine. I've said it before and he was I'll say it again, he will be Yeah.

Speaker 7

I think so too.

Speaker 8

As far as Terrence Steel, for me, the number one thing would be limiting penalties, discipline as a whole, defense

as a whole, and then going to the secondary. I think in general, safeties and corners, I think they they give up some big plays at times, and you're about to face some really tough teams that can score points, So that's going to be that's going to be a battle there, and I think that as a whole does need to improve because now you're gonna end up having to play hopefully not like the catch up game where now you're the and then on your offense to be

able to keep scoring the amount of sorry, the amount of points that they have been able to score so far in the last month. So I think discipline and then just try to not give up as many big plays. And because we've seen a lot of those recently.

Speaker 6

I'll throw this out there, and we've talked about a lot of those other teams and what their skill positions look like. But George Kittle had a really good day against Dallas three. Guess what in that week against Detroit. That little rookie, he can ball. Sam Report is playing his butt off. That's gonna be a challenge. On top of the receiving threats that they got, got in the speed they got with Jamir Gibbs in the backfield, there is a contingent of athletes on that Detroit offense that

are really, really good. So I think all four of these weeks you can go in there and say every single week there are athletes you're going to have to match up with and it's going to be a challenge.

Speaker 3

Detroit is the closest thing to San Francisco you're going to see other than San Francisco because of their offensive line. The quarterback doesn't make mistake. They've got skill on the outside, they got to tie it end, and they got a physical running game.

Speaker 6

Yep, that's a that's a running game that can break.

Speaker 3

And if they look at if you look at their defense, they don't let you run the ball. That's when that's one of their big things too. They do a really good job with Aiden Hutchinson and those guys. They play really well.

Speaker 4

Up front and also give a ton of roses to Dan Campbell. I mean, this is a coach that went in and reversed the entire culture of that organization. He has them believing, he has them bought in, and they're playing like their hair is on fire. They're playing like they have nothing to lose every single week. So yeah, not only are they scrappy, but they're as talented as they are scrappy, and they are as well coached as they are scrappy. So yeah, the Troy Lione is going

to be a problem. All Right, We're gonna take winning for Jimmy.

Speaker 6

We're gonna take our final break. We'll take our final break. We'll come back and I'm gonna turn over these guys. Amaz's got a game, Patrick got lap coat.

Speaker 3

We'll be right back.

What you got No, it's Patrick, it's you go first.

Speaker 8

Well yeah, it's his day, doesn't matter, go ahead, go ahead, okay, and then I'll finish.

Speaker 2

Off baby, bring me in. Yes, science nice, all right.

Speaker 4

So for this week's lab coat, ladies and gents, we are going to go with the number seventy eight.

Speaker 2

Again, the number seventy eight. This is a metric of sego tern Still, let's go with it. Let's go with it. It fits. This is a miserable back in the day.

Speaker 6

Series conversion rate, Yellstone.

Speaker 2

No as if you get in the Yellowstone. I keep telling myself to start it.

Speaker 4

Once I started, it's over, though, I gotta have time to binge an elite show like that. So seventy eight series convert version rate. It measures of the rate at which teams convert a given series of downs into another set of downs. So to put that in layman's terms, it's the success percentage for the Cowboys or any NFL offense as far as earning another set of downs, be it first, second, third, or fourth, doesn't matter. It's about earning the next set of downs. Cowboys right now, are

seventy eight point four percent success rate this season. That is a massive number if you want context for that. That now puts them in the top twenty most explosive offenses over the past twenty seasons. And those offenses include both of Peyton Mannings offenses in Indianapolis. It includes the

two thousand and seven Patriots with Randy Moss. It includes the Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill era from twenty sixteen and then twenty twenty, then twenty twenty two, and Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense did it in twenty sixteen with seventy nine percent. Roughly seventy nine percent, So Dak Prescott has been in this list twice, by the way.

Speaker 2

But if you want to.

Speaker 4

Know how explosive the Cowboys offen has become, after those first several weeks of sputtering, they are now one of the top twenty best offenses over the past couple of decades going through the first thirteen weeks of this NFL season.

Speaker 6

Now the Cowboys have been in that and been in that list that top twenty in the other years only once.

Speaker 4

They were number twelve in twenty sixteen, which was the Tony demo success way. I think twenty fourteen. So twenty sixteen was deck there were seventy nine point two success rates. So yeah, Dak Prescott has been on this list twice. Now, if you are still questioning the ability of this quarterback, I would advise you to invest in.

Speaker 2

Laser the.

Speaker 3

It's yeah, it's no doubt about that. This team leads the league and number of drives of ten plus plays too. I mean they punish people when it comes to multiple that ability to to have drives that are ten or more plays, that's big in my book.

Speaker 9

You know.

Speaker 6

One of the things I love about this offense too is there's some.

Speaker 3

Times I did love it.

Speaker 6

The first three No, absolutely there, but there are some seasons.

Speaker 3

You were worse than the league in air yards. Yeah, right now you're one of the top.

Speaker 6

You guys have seen it. There have been years when we've covered the Cowboys where you get a holding penalty kills the drive. One of the things I love about this offense is even when they're at first and twenty, when're that's second and fifteen second, like, everything is still convertible. They have plays in the playbook that they can convert almost any situation and That's what I love about this offense. They don't get bogged down when a penalty or something

like that book pushes them back. They typically can overcome those kinds of things. I really love that about this offense.

Speaker 2

And really quickly. Attribution always matters.

Speaker 4

This is from Computer Cowboy, which I'm a huge fan of at Ben b Baldwin on Twitter if you guys want to follow him, he and computer Stats I mean sorry, Cowboys stats and Graphics. There are two fantastic follows as far as analytics goes. So this happened to pop up on my timeline from Ben Baldwin. It was just a fantastic stat that made me sit back and say to myself, Wow, how quickly things have changed for this Cowboys offense once it started clicking. It's it's next level right now.

Speaker 7

So it's been impressive for sure.

Speaker 2

Now what you got?

Speaker 8

All right, He'll be fast. It's not nothing crazy. Basically, I'm going to read out some tweets and you gotta guess who said it, and then okay.

Speaker 6

Are the people in the show she said nothing too crazy?

Speaker 2

Crazy?

Speaker 7

It's not.

Speaker 8

And I'll give you guys a hand because obviously there are a lot of players on the team.

Speaker 6

These are all players, Okay, gotcha, Okay, there's a lot of people.

Speaker 8

Maybe I'll do that some of y'all too going out.

Speaker 3

That would actually be the game.

Speaker 6

Like you just have Brian or Patrick and you read this Lea, it's like, who said it?

Speaker 3

Said?

Speaker 8

He?

Speaker 6

Probably they can't answer because they know their own tweets, But yeah.

Speaker 4

All right, first one would mute me. Even I get nervous sometimes I was like, should say that. He's like, but he knows, he knows me.

Speaker 2

So I got.

Speaker 3

What I got is, Look, I've been dealing with this.

Speaker 14

I'm like, it is what it is.

Speaker 13

Man.

Speaker 8

Do you think despite everything, despite everything there, Derek is a big supporter and he is one of the biggest fans of all his people under him.

Speaker 6

So I actually I'm sitting back there like all the other people reading, like, oh.

Speaker 3

I would like to see Derek one time doing maybe at the end of the year's show where he reads his top five most stressful moments with his dot com guys.

Speaker 4

Oh oh yeah, probably one of my tweets is making a top five. I don't know which one.

Speaker 6

But no, honestly, the great part about it is if I had guys that never made me nervous, and I'd be like, I'm not hiring the right people. I need people that are out there and do it, like let's go, you know.

Speaker 7

Time calling me. I'm like seven thirty PM.

Speaker 15

I've gotten a couple of I've got Yeah, it's it's rare, but at least once I've got it, I was like, okay, you might need to pull that one.

Speaker 14

But from the day, that's the ones that are like, you don't know, like what it is on your phone, like forts.

Speaker 7

All right, really ain't breaking news scene? Bro? Have that big a smile when he got off the plane.

Speaker 3

One you can follow on Twitter by the Yeah, he's a great guy because he started.

Speaker 4

He started to ramp up like he wasn't really a Twitter guy. He had this conversation this season. He was just like he had after training camp. He had a little bit of time, so he kind of tapped in once or twice and then it just went crazy.

Speaker 6

Now he's a good follow for sure.

Speaker 3

Talking about he's talking about Shackle Leonard there.

Speaker 2

Yeah, away.

Speaker 3

Just walking with the security there. Yeah all right.

Speaker 8

If if they have I'm sorry, if they have to run double moves on you to get open, then you are doing something right Theron Blane.

Speaker 6

Do you think they were talking about they were talking about did Dick say that?

Speaker 3

Yeah?

Speaker 6

I thought he said, I know he said something about that, but I don't know if that was the exact one.

Speaker 7

Yeah, yeah, yeah, but it was yeah.

Speaker 3

About Okay, yeah, okay.

Speaker 8

I really don't see no team playing us the same. Watch any film or any game.

Speaker 7

It's sad bro curse.

Speaker 2

That sounds like curse.

Speaker 6

I thought that was cursed No Parsons, Yes, okay, yeah, I remember, I remember the sweet definitely.

Speaker 3

The part at the end. Could you listen to his podcast, it's a lot of He does a fine job on that too, by the way, I think, oh yeah, super honest about like he's not afraid to throw like other people ahead of his teammates, which is kind of crazy, you know, in himself. But he's you know, but.

Speaker 6

When you play like, people respect it, like you're going to respect the fact that if you're giving, you give absolutely it was a good job.

Speaker 8

Uh, boy, you're the best player in the NFL right now. I'm working to get where you're at. Do you think Micah would be like, boy, you're the best? No, this is on defense?

Speaker 6

Uh.

Speaker 2

The ros Malik.

Speaker 8

No, free me, Sam, Sam, he would That's when Mike ha replied free me, and then he tweeted him saying he's the best player in the NFL and that he's working towards being like him. This one, it's old from earlier this, but I just saw I didn't.

Speaker 7

Not at all from May. From May.

Speaker 8

If you saw me at the home run derby today, No you didn't, someone who Micah was. No, my show's pretty good, Jake Ferguson, someone who didn't play that good.

Speaker 6

Oh if you saw me there?

Speaker 7

No you didn't.

Speaker 6

Forget that?

Speaker 7

You say, Yeah, I forget you saw me there?

Speaker 6

Speaker 7

I don't know who he's one of the funniest guys on the team of Defense Defense Lords.

Speaker 3

Speaker 16

Speaker 7

Speaker 7

On there, But yeah, I like that game.

Speaker 6
