The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football clubs. Are you ready for a break? Are you ready for a break? Absolutely ready for a break? Yeah, and so much for that. It's time for the break on Dallas Cowboys dot Com with Nick Eatman and bar Garcia and Derek Eagleton. Hey guys, Lucky, Hi, Hi, Hi, are you there? You're good. You're the one with the energy. Okay. I'm glad doesn't just making making judgments on my mood
after five freaking seconds. Oh, I can already tell his grumpy Dave, Well, when you're in a really good mood, you walking like dancing around and moving your arms. Always in a good mood. Always me too when it comes to that's very questionable. But all right, well, welcome back to Cowboys Break. I'm glad to have the usual cast here with me. What a blessed day, huh wow, surrounded by you guys speaking of right, I was gonna say
that that's the person, okay. So I wanted to get right into the injured and then the injured injuries and shut in. Yeah yesterday. Hey, Black people that go to black churches know what I was talking about when I said that, Okay, it's something from Black Jay Man. Okay, Okay. So we've talked about all the injury to go home, all the injuries that the Cowboys have in their defense. So that is still a big question mark. So let's
just get a quick update. Is there any changes as to some of the guys that we've been seeing in the injury report as far as being able to possibly participate. David or Daniel Ross, Antoine Woods, Taco, Charlton, all of them did not practice or not practicing right now. Sean Lee, Tavon Austin did not practice. Tavon Austin did more than anyone else though, of those five dancing I'm gonna say, which is to say what, Yeah, basic ask several people why is he out? They said growing, and I said,
look at him right there like that. Nobody dances like in a club like that. So he's ready. He looks good to go, like he's working with in the chords with Uh. Yeah, that's a good thing, right. So they are going to probably bring up a defensive tackle Christian Ringo, and I would be surprised if it's Tavon Austin because I think they're getting him ready to come back. It's okay,
So back up for me for a second. So you're saying that every single one of those defensive linemen are expected to not play, or do you think I'm saying that. I didn't say that. I'm practiced this all week. I don't. I think Malik is the only guy in that group that I would expect to play in this game. He's been limited. Yeah, I didn't even gonna say him. Okay, Yes, So the other four that have not practiced at all
this week is Nah Woods, Nah, Taco, Nah Ross Nah. Now, your owner Jerry Jones did say he thought Antoine Woods has a shot to play, But I'm not seeing him as a guy that in the category of missus all three practices and plays on Sunday at that position. To me, it seems like you may that may be a position where you kind of could, right. I just think of it more as he's not at a protocol like I mean, at some point you have to get out right. But
that's that's also a little different. That's also a little bit different than let's say a knee. If your knee's not feeling good today, the likely it's gonna feel good tomorrow is probably not great the protocol from from what I understand now, I don't know all the rules around it, but it's a matter of whenever you're tested, you meeting certain qualifications, which my assumption is that could happen tonight into tomorrow and then he gets you know it, could
You want to get a visual of what I saw him? Sure, And he's a really nice guy, funny guy walks out of the shower, towel on. I'm giving you a visual, walking, walking slowly. He gets to his locker, sits down, stealing his towel. I won't I won't go further, but what happened with the towel? But he's sitting there and he just literally just staring in the blank, just sitting there, like looking at nobody, doing absolutely nothing, just staring at
back up. Do you want another visual? Oh god, Amber, I must be sitting in the locker room staring at a guy in a towel walking. He's ahind me, still looking at still staring, and I mean, you don't space out after your shower. That's what I do, like I kind of do sometimes. Yeah, and I haven't played football in fifteen years. Are there forty people walking. Yeah, now forty other people are walking around showering at the gym.
Then you know what is just saying his movement was very slow and that has nothing to do with the game. But I'm saying as he got out of the show where he got to his locker, he was just slow pacing, you know, and he seems like a guy that's who that's his way right right here here. I don't know back to okay, I'm trying to add, what are you able to count? I mean, what what are the Cowboys? That's that's trouble? What are you left with? I just
typed it in here. I've got Crawford, MALIEK. Collins, Karen Reid, and Christian Ringo. Yep, m m hm wow sound I'm worried suspense. It's I mean, you've got Gregory, U d Law, Dorian's Armstrong. Is that it? Yeah? So you got seven. It's not ideal. One of these guys is going to have to play. I mean, but honestly, it's it's one of those things. Can you have a game? And the Cowboys, I know they don't do this, but can you have a game? Will you just say, look, my best two players.
I need you to play more than you typically play. I need you to be out there instead of rotating as much. I'm gonna give you a breather here and there, but we're not going to start a series with you on the sideline. You are two best players. These other
guys are much lesser experienced. We need you out there and on the off chance it on the off chance that somebody can't get up in time, I would ask that of Tyrone and DeMarcus, and that's I think that's probably what the it's not going to rotate as much, man, let's go, let's play. Kind of sucks too, is that you have a game coming and I know we're focusing this game, but you got another game coming up on Thursday.
Point that is a great point right after it, and so you may not be able to do You may have to rotate them because you need them to be as fresh as they can for two games in four days.
And if that's a really great point. If you get somebody in with a concussion in this game, I mean the protocol, I mean it's very unlikely, yeah, that they could even come back, and then that would get Dave to get back on this soapbox, which I don't disagree about, you know, Thursday games and of course Thanksgiving that they've been always going to be there yet but it's always
gonna be there. It's it's tough when you start, when you're dealing with things like that, because every other situation is protecting the players and making them healthy and all this stuff. And you got ask these guys to play Thursday games every week stuff. So do we want to go through the inactis? I mean we got plenty to choose from. Sure, um Tavon and Sean Lee and and David Irving. For sure. It looks like Ross too, I would say yea, or um, Mike White. What about you
guys like Joe Thomas to Conna Williams. I think they both suit up. You think they both suited up? Okay, Joe has been practicing all week and uh and Connors, Yeah, they both have been limited since since earlier this week. Yeah, it's this is an interesting cause. I mean, you you know, you follow you follow unwritten rules about how this works. Mike White has been inactive every week because they don't
need him. You could say the same thing. You know, Adam Redmond is another guy if Connor Williams is healthy, you would take his jersey away. But with the amount of injuries, you might suit those guys up anyway, And um, you could make Mike White active if you just absolutely need to sit one of these injured guys. It just he won't play. But yeah, so well, I mean it's it's I think it's I think Ross, Irving, Lee, Tavon and probably Taco are locks to not play, and then
Woods is a guy to watch. Um Woods is Woods is the big variable for me is you know, if he can get out of the protocol by tomorrow, maybe he can play. But other than that, and then you know, Tavon, Mike White, maybe you could sit either Connor Williams or Adam Redmond. Yeah, that's what I'm looking at. It'll be interesting, will be I mean, that's a lot of guys that will be missing from your defensive line. That's a ton Well,
you know, maybe this is what they look at. It one of those games that this is not one of your best running teams that you're gonna face. And they play a lot of nickel you know, I mean, I'm sorry, they play a lot of three wides. The Cowboys will be in Nickel and Diamond a lot. I don't know if that that changes, uh, the approach, but you know, I think I think it's interesting though we talked about you think Connor's going to play? I still think Suaphilo
is going to get to start. Yes, that's gonna be think it should be like that. So, yeah, I heard anything else from Jerry or Jason in regards to this whole Connor in Swahilo. Jerry talked about Connor. Yeah, well yeah, Jerry. Jerry kind of talked about Connor today like a guy who lost his job. So just you know, just in the way he talked about it, he just kind of draw that conclude the same the same thing, which the same thing we've said on this show all this week is,
you know, we he's a young guy. He's played up to what our expectations were. We feel great about him going forward. We think he's got the flexibility to play all five spots on the line. We're not down on him at all, which you know, I gain. I'm you're if you're being clever and thinking about what he's saying, there's a way to fit that into he's no longer I'm inferring from what he's saying that he's probably not going to be starting, rather than emphatically saying when he's healthy,
he's our starter. Yeah, that's that's the spectrum of where those comments can go, right which and I completely agree for the record. I mean, you know, Jerry has a reputation of being like the optimist, even to the point that he's not always genuine. But I agree with what he's saying about Connor. I think I think he was you know, obviously he could have played better. You wish he had, but I think he was within the reasonable realm of expectations, and I thought he played well way
up more often than he played poorly. I mean, I know when you when you draft that guy's second overall, a second round sorry overall, and yeah second round, you want them, you know, to come in and play and be a starter. On this line, this is this is kind of a different type of line. I mean, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. What if what if he is a what if he's a game day and what if he's a backup? But if that's what his role is it, there'll be times where he
has to start this year. For this year, yeah, maybe going into next year and you can say, oh my god, you just wasted a second round pick. Yeah, but you stole one. If that's the case, you stole a second round pick by getting into a field if he's that good. I understand this is just one game, but but my point is is that when this line, this is a very talented line, you got a lot of money there.
If you got a guy you're counting on your line to be to be, you know, to help this running game and help Dak that maybe you do need six really good ones. Yeah, especially and he's kind of cheap right now. So I don't look at it as wasting
a pick. If I feel like I stole one with the second round, and because they're putting so much pressure on this offensive line by the other things that they're doing offensively, then I think it's important really for the Cowboys to continually be dropping second round, first round, third round picks on their offensive line because remember, in another what is it, two years year, Lyle Collins will be up and you've got to make a decision on him.
Does this become his replacement in the event that they decide they want to move on from him. Now you move Hi back to his original position that he played in college. I think there's a lot of things to factor in on this. This is a pure hunch. I haven't had a single conversation. I don't want anybody to misread me. But I've seen this song and dance because we really think Lyles a guard. We really think Lyles
a guard. Like I've heard this before and there's like, well now we kind of think he's a tackle, and you know, and they were convicted. He said, yeah, which people put that on us. They're like, oh, you guys just wrote that. Like we talk to people like we're not just pulling this out of thin air. And so you know, here and Jerry today say, you know, we like him at guard. We think he's got the flexibility
to play tackle. We also, I think his direct quote was like it's just a little bit of a stretch, but we even think he could maybe play some center. I just I won't be surprised if they change their tune about what they think he is before it's all said and done. Especially and it is a big if, but if Sue Philo seems like a guy that's really an answer for them. You know, I'm not going to be surprised if in March it's like, well, he's actually really got these great feet and that makes him a
great tackle. Were are the smart ones for thinking about it, and you're dumb for not thinking about it even though people have been saying it for six months. Just it's kind of keep it out. I be surprised. I won't be surprised when they said, I mean look at Byron Jones. I mean he's a tall, lanky corner. I mean of course, it's like, wait a second, that's not what you're safety's it's never a good idea until it's their idea. Like
that's pretty much. Love it well, but you just gotta you know, it goes when you're talking in the public. What you say in the public is what supports whatever you want the public to know or what you want the public to buy. Am I am I wrong? That's just how it goes. Am I wrong? Right now? Well said, And it's just that's that's That's the same for a lot of things, and not just the Cowboys front off. That's a pole people. It's not a good idea that it's mine idea. Yeah, so let's go something to watch
something to I think I do that. Yeah, I think I'm guilty. Event. One of the things I was thinking about is I'm really excited and I hope that so I feel is able to keep playing as well as he did against the Eagles, because that's another aspect that you're able to take off the list of excuses as to why this team is maybe not performing at the level that they should be. I thought you were going to say because he gave you the first Spanish interview
since you've been here. Well, yeah, he's a great guy. But aside from that start, yeah, yeah, yeah, it just helps because you got a list of different issues and it's hard to pinpoint exactly where the main problem is coming from when you have different things happening at the same time. Now, to me, i've crossed off the receiver position. I've now I'm crossing off old line, which I had crossed off a while but according to Derek, that was a big issue. So now are you crossing this off there? Well,
it's only one game, so no, I'm not crossing. We got the pen there, just over it. We're sitting there and we're thinking at this point maybe this game I'll be able to cross it. Yeah, we'll see Okay, and then now you got Now you start your quarterback on that list. He's still there. He's still there on the list. And then you still got your coaches and stuff. But to me, that's just but your quarterback is better if your offensive line and your wide receiver are in tech. Right, Yeah,
you feel like that's gonna make your quarterback better. Right, Those things are where everything else exactly kind of comes from. Right, You'll get much better everywhere else with those two in plays, and those guys will make those coaches look better. They absolutely will. You've already seen that. Back to the Break, Welcome back to the second segment of the Break. We are ready the most awaited for a segment of the whole week game date prediction, So Nick, why don't you go ahead and do the honor, all right. I do think the Cowboys will play much better than they
did last time they went to Atlanta. I think Tyrand Smith and Zekiel Elliott and Layton Vander esh because I mean, we always talked about those three guys. Was the first game that those three Lee, Tyrant and Zeke did not play affected everything? Um and now even though Lee's not playing, uh, Layton will be and Tyrn's gonna be there and Zeke. I think it'll be better. I just don't trust the
fact that they're gonna stop Atlanta on the road. I think Atlanta is very similar to the Cowboys in that what team do you have or a team that can win? You know, almost beat the Saints and should have beaten the Saints or killed by the Browns. I think this is a turning point game for them. I think it'll be a tough one. I think Atlanta will win twenty eighth twenty three Atlanta. Sorry, apologize, what do you say not to y'all? Just to assistant coach? That's fair, That's fair?
All right? Next? Yeah sure, I really I really hate myself for this pick because I pride myself on like show me. I gotta see it to believe it, you know, like they played really well against Philadelphia. I don't know if that's that's not good enough to be a trend, Like it's not good enough that I should trust them, but it was just so impressive. And this Falcons team is like probably even more schizophrenic than the Cowboys are, honestly.
I mean, I know they have a high powered offense, there's still four and five, they're thirtieth in total defense, They're given up thirty points a game. They're much better at home, But I'm just banking on seeing that running game again. Like that's really what this all hinges on for me is if you can run for one seventy against the Eagles, you should be able to crack two hundred against the Falcons. That is going to stop even
the best offense from being completely effective. I think on top of that, I've said this all week, said at Wednesday when we preview their offense. Red zone, red zone, red zone. Falcons are so good at home in the red zone. The Dallas defense has been good at stopping teams in the red zone. It's a hallmark of Rod Marinelli's um. So I think I think they're gonna find a way I didn't, you know, I was really blown away by how much better this offense looked in Philadelphia.
And I think the defense, you know, if they can hold them to a field goal or two or maybe get a takeaway, I think the Cowboys can score twenty eight on these guys. I'll say they can score thirty one. And I think they can hold the Falcons to like twenty eight. I mean, it's it's not gonna be a it's gonna be a shootout, but I think they can do it. Um that would be the next highest um
final score for them. They would be their highest output of the year, wouldn't right, certainly their highest output up the road. I mean, you know, they're they're they're a good team at home. They scored thirty one against Carolina, thirty seven against the Saints in a loss, thirty six against the Bengals in a loss, thirty four against the Bucks. They didn't only score twenty three against the feisty Giants defense. So it can be done. Like you know, they're they're
certainly not unstoppable. And I think, like I said, if let's say they get to the red zone four times, if you can hold them to a fuel goal, or get a takeaway once. I really think that can be good enough. So eight Cowboys. As much as we've talked all week about how great the Atlanta offense is, and I really do believe they have a good offense. Last week, the Cleveland Browns defense held them to sixteen points. So it's not like they are so good that they can't
be stopped. This is not an offense that can't be stopped. I think the Cowboys defense has played really well most of the year. This will be their biggest challenge because I don't think they faced an offense quite like this
one with as many weapons as this one has. But I think it still comes back to the fact that kind of what Dave was alluding to there that if they can run the ball well, it's the age old adage, right, if you can keep if you can run the ball well, you can control the clock and you control the tempo of the game. That keeps the opponent's offense on the sideline. And if you can do that, you limit their opportunities. The more you limit their opportunities, the better the Cowboys
defense will be. And so I think it goes back to if this offensive line and Zikulelli can do what they did last weekend, control the game, be able to run the ball really well, and I again I don't think that. I think they're actually playing a defensive front that is not as strong as what they played last week and they were able to have a lot of success against So I think the Cowboys can do the same thing here. This is all going to be a function of who's going to show up for both teams.
Is it gonna be the best of them or is it going to be the worst of them? And we've seen both teams do that this year. Some games they show up and it's the best of them. Some weeks they show up and it's the worst of them. I actually think Dallas can can win this game, which because I think the offensive line, the way that it's constituted right now, is going to be better than it's been and I think that's the way that they're gonna win the game. I just I agree twenty Cowboys twenty four
to twenty. Yep, I hate that. I agree with you. Like I said, I mean, they don't do they deserve the benefit of the doubt, But that the whole thing. If you're gonna say to do the Cowboys deserve the benefit of the doubt. Then you'd have to say the exact same thing about Atlanta, because Atlanta's as getsophrenic as the Cowboys have been good at home though, I get it, but it's been just a schizophrenic as the Cowboys. Yeah,
I can make this argument either way. I do think you could say that, you know, if the Cowboys, things would have been different last year, if the Cowboys would have had those three players, I mean way different, especially at the left tackle position. And now they've got those type of players and vander esh Lee, and I think you can make that argument that Atlanta is kind of what they were last year, a little bit different here and there, but about the same. The Cowboys are way better.
So fun fun fact. I know you've got to make your prediction. But the roof's going to be open, so oh I forgot they had a note. Does this change the outcome of the game. I know, I don't know what the weather is. I got to look up the weather. Let me see, I might change my pick. It's gonna be that's like forties. Oh yeah, then great, we'll sticking with it. That's perfect workout way. Yeah, that's great. It's
not good. It's probably gonna be fifties. They're gonna open it up for at forty five sixty four with a low of forty one'll it'll be in the This game's at noon, so it's gonna be probably about fifty some degrees. That's perfect though it's football and sunny. It'll probably sunny too. Yeah, weather permitting, so like if it rains, I'm sure they won't open it. But something something great, So you're sticking to yeah, I mean, yes, okay, Cowboys can't playing seventy,
they can't playing fifty. What's your what's your pick? You know what. I think the offense is not gonna be struggling as much as far as scoring points. It's gonna be a tough one. But I'm really curious to see how the Cowboys defensive line affects the game and how that affects the linebackers performance. At the end of the day, I think the Cowboys are gonna lose, and they're gonna lose the Falcons thirty four thirty one. Yeah, yeah, okay, okay,
very simple, all right, we'll see how it goes. Yeah, we don't split very often. It's usually no, it's usually like overwhelmingly weeks ago. We think about it, though you got a four and five team going against the four and five team, it would make sense that it's probably two and two on what think's going to happen. And and like you said, we can make an argument both ways, right, but you just don't know. And then and then the
Cowboys they're just obviously not consistent. So it's like, Okay, yes we saw great things last weekend, but can't they bring it over to this week? Right? And Atlanta was not good last week? But is this the week they get back on back? Like it's the same thing and both teams. Davis, where I was last week? I picked the Cowboys. I didn't really love the pick, and I really kind of wanted to back out of it, but I didn't, and I you know, so, yeah, I got the beat. You're kind of the same. But even now
I don't love it. But like I do think this is a favorable matchup for Dallas. Like I said this, we did our roundtable video an hour ago, and I like the Cowboys defense odds of doing something against the Falcons offense more than vice versa. Like if this Falcons defense just shuts down the Dallas offense after what we saw in Philly. Then I don't even know. Yeah, I don't know. It's so weird. Then up is down and down is up because they're they're terrible. Yeah, and I
know that. I mean the Cowboys have been terrible, but four hundred yards against a much better defense on the road, I mean, what's going on? It's gonna be tough. Hey, Ken, do we still have Bruce on the line, Bruce Carter? Yes, we do, Bruce Bruce from Texas. Hey, what's going on? Hey? I'd bet a question I asked one another shows this. I know this last week we used to fullback a lot more Rod Smith, and I got to think of, you know, Rut did such a job. That's you're selling
in for Zeke. What about having Rob Smith and he in the backfield on the majority of the plays? You know, he could block, he can run, and he can also goal for passes. Who's he taking on? Who are taking off the field? One of the tight ends they don't do anything, so h back position, laying him up as a wide receiver. He could lead, block or whatever. I'd rather have him on the field the majority of plays in our tight ends. What about Jamay's all the wally
instead of him. I mean, he's well, they could rotate a Wally and Rob Smith in and out, you know, just have both of them, one of them out there in the backfield at the same time as Zeke and rot. In the old days, we hit Daryl Johnson out there for the majority plays doing it all. So hey, we didn't have a full back out there full time. We didn't talk about it a lot. Yeah, I mean that was probably the game where Jamay's played the most and the best against the Eagles, Like he had a nice
out for what they asked him to do. Um. I I don't disagree with what he's saying. I mean, I don't think they're gonna put Rod out there anymore often than they have been. But like I've been, I feel like we've been saying that a lot. Is like, have these tight ends merited the amount of snaps they get outside of Jeff Swain? Have they really? But that's just that's just what this coaching staff wants to do. They
value that. So I don't think you're gonna see it change, especially you know, Dalton Schultz is getting more involved and Ricos had his moments, So I don't think they're gonna trend away from that, but I wouldn't mind seeing it. Yeah, I mean he does give you you're talking about Rod, he gives you something a little bit more offensively maybe
than what you get from those tight ends. But the thing is, if you're gonna do that, you better get the ball to him at least some of the time, because I don't think I don't think he's a better blocker necessarily than those tight ends. I think he's probably in the same boat with them. And I just kind of tried to like put him out on the edge so he's kind of like just it's one or the other. Like it's not really an appreciable difference from a blocking standpoint.
But if you feel like you're gonna get a little bit more offensively and maybe getting him the ball a few times, then you better do it. Don't just put him out there as as window dressing. You better use him a little bit to force teams to recognize that he is a bigger threat than maybe the tight ends are. And if you're not going to use him and stick with you're tight end, and you'll probably be better off
when it comes to just blocking. If you need to block, and I think you could also get pretty creative in certain situations because Sleek, I mean, as soon as he's on the field, you know, defenses are looking out for him and expecting him to make a play. But Sick is also a really good blocker. He's being able to
make very great blocks. And if you were to do a certain place where you kind of just get a little creative and you seek as a blocker instead for one and maybe sneak rod Smith somewhere, you might you might get something out of I mean, think about if you had. You know, teams are already starting shade a little bit over to the side where a Cooper is. So let's say they're shading a little bit over there, and let's say you send Rod out into the other flat.
And let's say then you put Zeke somewhere in the middle of the field. You stress this defense sideline the sideline now and if they choose to say, we're not going to worry about Rod Smith. Back to the break, Nick, you know what, I'm gonna talk about the NFL Draft really quick next year next h It's actually first day starts April twenty fifth. It's a Thursday. I don't really know yet. Nashville is not in Dallas because they got other stuff going on here. But you know what, Tommy's John. Tommy John is very similar to the Cowboys first round next year. There's no
reason to pick. That's what Tommy John. That's what they're really trying to hope for. When it comes to weggies, you don't have to do that. You don't have to adjust because they've got the best underwear in the world. No reason to pick, says, never pick again. So when it comes to the Cowboys first round, same thing. They won't be doing that, we don't think. But get Tommy John. Make sure you go to Tommy john dot com Fort Lacy.
Would you get twenty percent off your first order. I know it's a stretch, but you know what to do this every day. You guys don't help deal with it. Tommy John's matches too. It contours to your body, you know, gets elastic, and yeah, you would think you might want one. Can't because we need to get on to one. Some of those You can sitting. I'm just saying, so you can just sit in comfort instead of a wet towel. I'm just saying, Okay, moving on. Here's a question from
Twitter guy. Poor guy had no idea. You know, I'm just imagining, like hearing it. If my post shower, if my post shower routine got put on blast on the radio, I would not be very happy. Hey, he is not being put on blast. I'm just saying I just don't want people talking publicly about what I do after I get out of the shower, you know, like when you're cancust. Yeah, concut, Okay, thanks a lot. Now you're making me feel horrible. It's fine.
I need to go apologize. You guys are so mean coming out of the shower and I put it on the radio. Sorry, what's your question? What's the question? Thank you? Here's the question. In regards to Noah Brown. We have talked about him quite a while, and then we finally got to see some of him on the field, which wasn't necessarily didn't really didn't Claver. It played like a guy who hadn't played football in a while, right, right,
didn't play great from Noah. I mean, what are some of the expectations and thoughts about him and what he could possibly do in the upcoming games? You know, it's funny, I know how you felt. I'm the Noah Brown guy, and I'm not trying to defend him too much. He had I think he had two. Really just can't have those types of penalties lining up in the wrong spot.
Did he have a false start too, He had two penalties, and he had a couple of block miss block where Yeah, it's kind of he just was rusty and he I don't blame him as much as I blame the coaches for thinking he'll be fine. Just put him out there. Well, rusty is a good word, and that's you know, we talked to Jason Garrett. We we talked to Jason Garrett about every little inane wrinkle of the game, like nothing is too small for us to not turn it over,
and you know that came up. And just from listening to him, I don't think they're gonna give up on him. I think, if anything, they're like, yeah, he was rusty, he needs more playing time and he'll get acclimated and he'll be fine. So I don't know exactly what his role is going to look like, but I think he'll he'll have a part to play in this game. I don't.
I think they really like what he can do, like as a blocker and his potential as a receiver, and I think they're going to give him opportunities to be better and I and I agree with that that they should.
I just thought it was getting in that first half, it was getting to a point where you know, surely they're not going to let him continue to struggle like this because you know this this is offense, has always been a struggle in Philadelphia, and they're doing some nice things and he's kind of he was derailinging it early. But and we've seen how the penalties, how much they can get down there. But I think he calmed down a little bit. I didn't really see him. He did
too after a little bit. Your exact quote was get him out of the game. It was that Nick or Mickey both right, You were not you're going to see doing anyway? Go ahead, Yeah, but I don't think you give up on him. And you know, look for him if he's on the field every single time as the blocker. I mean we see it. Everyone sees it. I'm sure the guys that do quality control for the Falcons also see it. So at some point, like you said about rod Smith, I mean, at some point, you're gonna do
something different with it. It's gonna have to go down the field and make a you know, throw the ball to him. All right, Joseph wants to know, do you guys think that our first offense play against the Clana is gonna be a play pass play, first offense play against it Clana be a pass play. How about a play? Yes? Um, I mean it kind of because I could see it going just play action pass. It's a bad secondary, they know the Cowboys? What about what about both? What like
a relief? We leave here we go? I mean I don't always associate that word with you. Everyone does too. Every time it happened on any game in college, pro, high school, Nick's gonna get tweeted one. Just the other day. Did you see the Auburn game? You know, somebody Auburn, Tennessee. I'm like, no, like they ran it for forty seven yard touchdown. I'm like seeing it works, play action pass? Do it all? Right? Do you guys expect and we talked about this too, do you guys expect the Cowboys
to have someone follow Hud Jones around? Not really? I maybe maybe you know, Julio moves around so much, he's incredibly versatile. Um, you might see it more so than than others, like especially in sub packages and stuff like if it's dime or something, you know you don't want Julio lined up on I'm not trying to throw shade at Jordan Lewis, but you might prefer to have your number one corner on their number one in a just
body type two. Yeah, I mean, um, but I think for the most part, I think they're gonna play their game. Get Garrett. I wish Garrett loves to talk about this Seattle defense and that they just they play their defense like they trust their men to handle their assignments and they do. They just straightforward, it's simple and well, that's what they run. Now, that's what Chris Richard's specialty is.
And so I and Rod doesn't like doing that. I'm not saying I agree with it, because that's Garrett's mantra too, like he believes you stick to it and you keep doing it, if you do it long enough, then it's eventually go. But now let's let's just go to Atlanta on on Wednesday night and they're talking about it, like, here's the thing, guys like cowboys are gonna do what they do. That's what they do. There's it's simple. Like you just said, it's simple for them to understand. It's
definitely simple for us to pick apart. So what we're gonna do. We're gonna change things around. We know they're not doing anything. Geta will be there and Byron Jones will be there. But what we should do is move a guy here. And you know, I mean, like when everything is so simple, when the scheme is so simple, it's also simple to fix. You're out, No, and that.
But the point of it is, and not saying that I agree with this, because by the way, I don't, But the theory here is that if you do the same thing and it is simple, you'll be so good at it that it doesn't matter what they throw at you. You're that good at explaining what you do, but that it won't matter. But why was Seattle so good on defense? Why it wasn't I mean, yeah, yeah, the Legion of
Boom and all that stuff. They were great. They got after the quarterbacks ass They brought five or six different guys and they they they brought them in all the time, rotated and made a great rotation. And that's where it comes to. And I'm looking at the injury report and every guy, you know, the depth, it's all on there. So it's if you can you can play that way. It's that we do what we do when you know that defensive line is going to get after the quarterback. Yeah,
that don't. If it's not as consistent then then it is. Sometimes you do have to to wrinkle things up a little bit. That's that's my thought. I actually I think that they're right it. You can do what you do if you're insanely talented. Seattle's defense was generational. Rod's defenses in Chicago had Peppers or Locker Briggs and Peanut Tillman, so as they were in Tampa Bay. If you got those guys, you can absolutely do what you do. If you don't, you should probably mix it up a little bit.
So I don't think Byron needs to shadow Julio, but maybe follow him a little bit. I certainly would like to see some blitzing in this game, especially with how you know, depleted the D line is. I don't know if they're gonna do that. Doesn't Julio go into slot, He goes everywhere. So that's the other part you have to think about when you say you're going to travel a guy, how do you feel about it, even if he's your number one guy? How do you feel about him playing in the slot if he's not a customer
plan in the slot. That could be a bit of a challenge for him. And that's why I think this makes sense is Julio is like, as close as a wide receiver gets to a tight ends build, Byron's done that. Yes, you have to go into inside to play tight ends. Byron's got a lot of experience doing that. True, Anthony Brown's got plenty of experience playing on the outside too.
We've seen that going back to his rookie year. So you don't think there's a big jump for them to do it from a standpoint of Byron having to adapt to moving to all they and I don't. I don't think that means Byron needs to play across from Julio on all sixty five snaps. I just I think it would be smart for him to give it a world. Yeah, sometimes I agree it. We'll see if they actually do that.
I honestly don't think that. I think he will a little Like like I said, he's not going to follow him all over the field, but I think he will, Like if he goes inside, you might see Byron follow him. I don't think it'll be enough to be noticeable. I think we'd have to go back and be like we'll be after the game. We will say like, oh, did he do that? He do it a couple of times he lined up. You'll see it on Twitter or the
first time it happens, he'll see it. One he'll see it. Yeah, there's eighty you knows of what happens on the play, right, Yeah, that'll be where you figure out and stuff and they're like, wait, who was trying to cover him on that play? And then all of a sudden, now Byron's covering him and it starts changing. Now we know. Yeah, so all right, I'm hesitant whether to ask another question or not because Shannon comes do it. Nobody cares about Shannon. Yeah, exactly.
That was perfect. All right, last question and yards to Dalton Schultz. Can you speak about him? He seems like he's got a toe hole on the offense to hold to toe hold, I don't know what that means. He is, like, I don't know, one of you guys, No, that was a drop, Okay, he's got a toe hold. He's just like he's got he grabbed a little bit, like he's just grabbing on. Yeah. Hey, he made a nice play in the game. That was That was big. They were kind of you know, pinned back. They were seeing how
they were going to respond from that drive. The game was tied and he broke a tackle, went seventeen yards, kind of changed the field position a little bit. That was a big player. And that's two games in a row, No, two out of three. He didn't do anything against Tennessee. I don't believe, but um so he's he's doing some things. I don't know about a toe hold, I don't know.
I didn't use that. I think of I don't I'm not trying to sound mean, but after or Swain, I think of the other three tight ends as like a grab bag. I'm like, well, one of them will probably do something in this game. We'll see, right, We'll see which one it is. So that's how I feel. Okay, well look at that right on time. Thank you guys so much for tuning eating once again, let's hope the outcome of this game is good for the sake of
everyone's sanity. So for Derrik Kingleton, Nicki Man, David Hammett, and Burgarcia how This has been Cowboys Break on Dallas Cowboys dot Com Radio. This has been a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club
