The following Here's a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club Cowboys. Are you ready for a break? Yes? Are you ready for a break? Absolutely? Ready for a break? Yeah, and so much for that. It's time for the Break on Dallas Cowboys dot Com with Nick Eatman, David Hellman, and bar Garcia and Derek Eagleton. It is Thursday, December sixteenth, twenty twenty one, season seventeen, episode number eighty. Welcome to the latest edition of The Break.
Clive from s WBC Mortgage Studios at the Star got Dick Dave Amber with me. It feels like we haven't been all together. And while because Dave was out one day, Nick was out one day, it's good to have everybody back in studio. We'll get you guys ready Cowboys versus Giants at happened in this Sunday. It is going to be a barn burner. Maybe probably not. That's not the phrase that I would use. Okay, So we'll tell you what's going to happen over the next couple of shows. Here.
We gotta show today in tomorrow and then we'll get ready for this game on Sunday real quick. Nick, give me an eighty eighty. Tony Hill is always a good eighty. He was a great player, Tony Hill, Tony Hill. But I always like this guy named Stepfret Williams. I just think that's a cool name to say. Remember, we're just we're just not going to pay respects to the legend Rico Gathers. We're just gonna do that. I wonder where you're going with King Gats. That's where you come in,
because I don't even think about him at all. How how he's one of the most legendary figures in cowboys history. I was one of your You were actually all on board with getting him, like you were all over the Baylor guy. And yeah, you were all over that. Yes you are. You were excited, you like you were like that idea, they need to get him. My tongue is
planted firmly in my cheek. But like I mean, as far as sixth round picks who caught like less than fifteen career passes go, he's probably the most memorable of all time. Yeah, I think Marty by two, that's not eighty Church just we are distractable. Yeah, anyway, what a shame, What a shame? You are another big Reco Gathers fan. Weren't you? I don't know what a fan. I it's a shame that we didn't get to see them try him out at another position. That's why I say, what
do you want to see him at tackle? I would have tried him ound, yeah, something on the defensive line, just to see why not a defensive offensive line. I would want to try him the defensive line. Okay, back then, Okay, I was like, put him out there. He's not. He definitely hasn't. I'm having I'm having flashbacks to like actual shows that we did, Like we don't. We don't need to talk about this. We don't need to talk. I'm sorry. I'm sorry for bringing Ricot into boxing or something. I
don't know what he's doing. I was just Hardy should have been playing basketball overseas. That's what he should have been doing. Good point, make a hell of a living in Grease, Turkey, Italy, Spain. Don't have to be an NBA to make money in basketball. Yeah, all right, let's move on. Let is real quick, real quick. I'm sorry, Dave, give me an update on Tony Pollard. Where are we standing with his injury? Tony Pollard's gonna try to push
it at practice today. They're practicing in shells. This they're doing a real practice today after just kind of a you know, shorts and shirts yesterday. This is a real practice. They're outside. He's gonna give it a go. Who knows what that means. Take everything you hear from Mike with a grain of salt when it comes to injuries and stuff like that. We'll see what the injury report says.
I mean, he's been out there this whole time, so like we're gonna go out to practice, he's gonna be out there working with britt He's gonna be jogging around, and I mean, we have no idea what he's going to do in the team period. We'll see what the injury report says. It'd be interesting. I'm interested to see what happens this weekend with regards to him and with Zeke to some degree. And Nick, you weren't here yesterday.
We did talk a little bit about Zeke and his injury, and he says yesterday when he talked to the met he's actually feeling like he's got a little bit of his explosiveness back. What are your thoughts, Darren, do you think, do you think that maybe the Cowboys, for the better of him and for the better of the team, should take a step that's kind of drastic and sit him down. Well, he didn't look explosive to me. I mean he felt he felt I guess he said he felt good. I
was listening to him, going where was that? Like? I mean, he was okay, but he was also limping around a whole lot now he was. It's a weird injury to me because they keep running him and using him and he doesn't look right. And yeah, I think sitting him might might be. I mean, it's one of those things where they're not talking about it at all, like it's fine, it's fine, fine, And as soon as they, you know, clintse the division, he'll be out, I think, And I
think that's a smart thing to do. Would you would you make that this week? Though? Would you make that decision relative to what's happening with Tony, Like would you say I would only sit him if Tony is back, or would you say, hey, you got to sit him. It's a it's a good thing to do regardless. Yeah, I don't want to go into any game without either one of them. No, thank you, but no, I mean
that's crazy talk. Corey Clement played pretty well, all things considered, But like Corey Clement and Edo Smith and Jaquan Hardy, I mean, that was the argument that that I think that Isaiah was making yesterdays. He was like, I'd sit him both if I think. I know that's what he thinks, and I disagree. I mean he did, I said yesterday he made a good point. But I mean, I feel much better with at least one of those guys available.
I mean, you have a you have a chance. Like I don't know, though, you have to get away from the rams. You just you do. You gotta keep winning. You gotta get to the third seat. And you can get to the third seat if the pack you control it. Yeah, you can. You know, Packers or even Arizona. Now Tampa doesn't look likely. They're not gonna lose two times. I don't believe in Arizona. All you need to do is just beat Arizona. Beat Arizona. You when you're your games,
you're in the third. Thing he's saying, you probably can't get a whole lot higher than right, No, yeah, you can get can you control if Tampa is a tie with Green Bay and Dallas, and then you get three way tie. Then you can jump all of them. So you can't control getting to two or one. You certainly can control gett into three, so so control what you can control. I would just call them the tag team champions right there, Pollered and Z and they just tagging.
I mean, just like in a game like one one's gonna play, one's gonna sit. But I think I'm gonna use them that way until they're healthy, until or the playoffs until yeah, right, all right, which one it comes first? We're gonna go ahead and take an early break here. We got Bucky Brooks coming up from NFL Network. He'll join us in the second segment. We got some questions for him about this matchup Cowboys versus Giants. Let's promote w w video is what she said, shoot a video an interview promoting That's what she said. Okay, Fucky, welcome to Hey, Bucky Man, we off the rails to day. You're gonna have to save us. Bucky Brooks of NFL Network joining us right now to talk a little Cowboys versus Giants Let's start first with Mike Glennon Uh. He has started the last two games for the Giants, replacing Daniel Jones. Uh. He's only completed about fifty percent on
average of his passes. He's been sacked five times. He's passed for under two hundred yards in both games. So paying a scenario for me, any scenario where you think this Giants offense can can get over on the Cowboys defense, Like I feel like we had a conversation about this like last year where we didn't think that the Giants can do anything and it ended up being a game
in the thirties. I think for the Cowboys, if they stay on their ps and qs, this should be an offense that they can kind of gobble up, much like they were able to gobble up to Washington football team for three plus quarters last week. I think the thing with the Giants is Freddy Kitchen takes over for Jason Garrett as the play caller. They're still trying to figure out their identity. Say Quon Barkley is not necessarily the same, and so they're trying to put all the pieces of
the posle together. And then you have a quarterback in Mike Lennon, who has never necessarily been a high end consistent quarterback. And so to me, this is about just making sure you don't give them anything cheap, don't let the ball flow over your head. Put pressure on them, because if you put enough pressure on Mike Glennon, eventually he would give up the ball. He'll cough it up and be a handful of turnovers. Day'll may all right, Becky, A two part question number one, what has happened to
sa Quon Barkley? Like why is he not the same? In two? Who is your favorite wrestler of all times? For talking about wrestling? Well, let's start with favorite wrestl of all time. I would say the American Dream Dusty Rhodes will probably be my favorite of all time. Um, daddy, yeah, yeah, um, because because everyone else loved Rick Ferren. I do have a thing for the nature Board, but Dusty Rhodes was always going for him. Uh. The reason Saint Juan Berkley
isn't the same. I won't say he's not the same, but if you go back and look at how he was at Penn State, he was always a bit of a boom or bust in terms of production. It was two yards minus game two yards three yards, fifty yard game two yards three yards. So he he had like a little Barry Sanders is type production in terms of it wasn't always a steady drip. I think with the Giants he's not the same now since the injuries. He doesn't necessary they have the same. Verse, He's still productive
in Bursto can catch the rock. And then he's also playing behind an offensive line that isn't necessarily the best. And so when you have those factors, you do have these inconsistent moments from a player who was taking second overall in the draft. Buck, can you talk to me about our guy as Zizojalari the rookie. I know we liked him in the draft. Good player. I'm just curious
how they're using him, I'm guessing. I mean, is he like an every down guy or at least a regular member of the rotation or they using him in sub packages? It just it seems like he's come on, I mean, he's got seven and a a half sacks. How's he doing it? I mean, look, he's the same going to be sort of George. He's an active guy, very athletic, does a
good job with his speed. Verse and energy. They certainly are mixing him in the rotation and using them with a bunch of different ways and allowing him to go get after the past. And when you really look at this Giants team outside of him, he's the most dynamic defender. Lenard Williams has been good at times. You talking about Dex and Lawrence all those other guys, but they're not necessarily that explosive energizer bunny that you typically like to
have within the rotation. At least Ozelaari gives them that, and so he's been good. He's a productive on the whole. I would say this Giants defense is the same as they've always been. They're rock solid. They're gonna make sure they try and take care of the running game, and then they're going to change the coverage and do all
these other things. And you never really know what they're going to do prior to the game because Patrick Graham comes from the New England tree, and so every game plan is a bit like a snowflake, so you never get the same thing twice. Bucky, we keep talking about the running game, the Cowboys running game with Zeke and Paular being injury, I mean, looking at this Giants defense. Is this a game that maybe in your eyes you think that they could do without both of those running
backs where they sit them out this week? Well, look, man, I think Corey Claiming played well enough that you can entertain the possible earlier of him taking on a big worth though he had thirteen carries I think last week, and it was right down the middle with him and Zeke. Obviously, like if Zeke can play, you want him to play because what he does in the pass protecting game, he's one of the best, if not the best, pass protected at the running back position, and so you want to
make sure that Dak Prescott is protected. But if you can lighten his load and not subject him to a bunch of collisions and those things, you want to do that. I think if Clement shows early in the game that he kind of has it going, I think you see the skills kind of tipping his favor in terms of the workload. Let's talk a little bit about Layton vander Esch. Last week, I thought he played better than he's played
in other weeks. What did you see from him and what do you think was it possibly a situation where maybe having Mica at lineback or having those other guys back on the defensive line maybe helped Layton Vandersch in some way to be a better player, more productive player than he'd been in some of the past games. This season, Yeah, he's a bit of a chameleon. I mean, I think he plays better when he's surrounded by better supporting casts. I think most players are like that, and the Cowboys
have their full confident of guys. I mean, look, the defense has shown that it's one of the top defenses in football. When you put de Marcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory and Michael Parsons out there, the energy level picks up and you see how everyone kind of raises their level of performance. I think Laydon vander Esh was able to do that. And then it's also a bit of a thing where it's kind of contagious when the plays
start coming. So when you see Micauls start making a play, you see Randy Rick and we make a play early in the game, you see the Marcus Lawrence hustling and Jason it kind of puts the peer fresh show on you to kind of take your game up a notch.
I think now that everyone is back, Layden Renner's just going to play better because one, he doesn't have as many responsibilities on his play in terms of having to make plays, and now he'll fall into some plays because he's just running and hustling and making and just kind of fall in the ball. Michael Parsons, We've talked about how you know he's can play different spots, but I believe he ranks fifth and sacks and ninety ninth and
pass rushes. When when did the Cowboys start getting some criticism if it's not already of like, all right, you probably just need to rush the passer more, or do you think that he wouldn't be as effective if he did rush it more. He probably wouldn't be as effective
if he was a one hundred percent pass rusher. I think what you have now is you actually have the best of both worlds because what they're able to do and what they did against the Watchington football team is they were able to isolate him on the guard when you have Randy Gregor on one side, DeMarcus Lawrence on the other side, and you do some of those five old pass rushers where you get five guys coming and you're able to isolate one on one matches, where now
you can have Michael Parsons go over wall, though, and we're seeing that his quickness, his burst, his hand skills allows him to get to the quarterback, and so I think it's best to send him from the second level because he can pick and choose who he wants to go against, and it makes it harder for the offense
to slide multiple blockers to him. And so I think the way that using I think the way dan Quinn has using them is perfect, and I think it's one of those things where as they get closer and closer to the postseason, I think you'll see even more creativity from dan Quinn in terms of how he unleashes number eleven because as you begin to focus on number eleven, number ninety and number ninety four begin to get off and then that's when it becomes a lot of fun
to watch the Cowboys defense because they have it going
up front. I get that you literally just told me Patrick Graham's going to change this thing up, and it makes it hard to predict the game plan, but it seems like a good guess, based on the way teams have been playing the Cowboys, that they're going to clog the field, try to take away deep shots for the passing game, and with the running game not working the way that it hasn't been working, which I mean, maybe they get it going, that would be great, But if
it's not, what would your approach be to getting things going underneath? Because that really seems like it's been the problem for the Cowboys. I mean, do you have a tip for how they might do that better. I think it's not just Patrick Graham. I think it's the league why trend where you're seeing more teams kind of park their safeties in the parking lot and say we're gonna take away the deep ball, and more teams are also being willing to give up again see rushing yards because
it's a slower death. You're not going nickel and diamond with three and four yard runs and drive the length of the field and score a bunch of points. You may control the ball, but you won't score a lot of points leaning on the running game. And so for the Cowboys, I believe man, Look, they're players, Ceedee Lamb
and Michael Gallup and Marie Cooper. They're really good catching run playmakers, and so what I would like to see them do are more things that get them the ball on the move, crossing routes, things where they can kind of catch it, like I know they like to run slants in those things, but other things where eighty eight and nineteen can get it on the move and get up the field. And so it requires a level of patients. I think Dad has to be more patient. I think
he's been impatient trying to go big play, honey. I think this has to be a thing where, look, man, let's just kind of if we're playing Dominos, Nickel and Dost, let's five and tend them down the field and then eventually the big plays happened, But you don't have to force it down the field because that's when the interceptions and the bad stuff happens. Is this a week where you're still okay with saying a win is a win
type of win? Or mentally for the Cowboys offense, is this a week where they have to get out there and actually be dominant and kind of start clicking this time around. I mean, ideally you just want to win, but I think here's where we have to begin to kind of come to grips with like, as Cowboys followers, maybe the defense leads the way for this team to
go deep into the postseason. So maybe Mike McCarthy has to talk to Kellen Moore and they have to get together and say, look, the best way for us to play is maybe a little more complimentary approach. Maybe we scale it back and no thought all over the earth.
Maybe we are a little more conservative. Maybe we do punt and let the defense create plays, because when you have a team that is second in takeaways and then generating takeaways each and every week, maybe you don't have to force and press the issue as much on offense. And I think we came into the year thinking that
the offense was going to protect the defense. Maybe it's flipped in the middle of the year where the defense is kind of protecting the offense and you have to kind of change and call the game accordingate and real quick before we get your prediction for the game. I just want to get it. I'm just interested to know. Let's assume you have a vote, and you might actually
have a vote for defensive player of the year. If you have to cast that vote right now, with what you've seen through thirteen games, who's your defensive player of the year. I mean, I feel like it's a loaded question because Michael Parsons has done everything that you want
to do. When you throw his numbers, you threw his numbers up against everybody like I mean, look, the production is ridiculous, sack production, tackles, quarterback, pressures, everything that he's doing like, you just don't see players do that, particularly a first year player. And so when people get mad about the comparisons to Lawrence Taylor, it's not about their playing style being similar. It's about the impact. I believe. Now you're going into games and you're having to say
where is number eleven at? We got to make sure that we have eyes on him. That's the impact and to me, that's the value that a defensive Player of the Year brings. And look, man, I'm gonna say this, Like we talked about Michael Parsons to the draft and it was how should they I don't know, there's another value. I think they have lucked up and got a player that is one for the ages. He is a dominant player, even better than we ever could have imagined, considered he
didn't play his last year Penn State. Imagine if he had played and he actually had didn't have to shake off the rust. I mean, he is a phenomenal player he would have been picking. I think anybody could have expected he would have been picked number one or two. Right, he would not have been there for them at that point. Yeah, I think. I think Bucky's point when he was answering the question before you asked it, when he was said that now the Cowboys can lean on the defense maybe
instead of the offense. Just think about how weird that would have sounded in the offseason or even last year. I think that reason alone is why he should be Defensive Player of the Year, because he has changed the culture of the team just his presence alone. All right, Bucky Man, we'll let you go out. Know, you gotta get out of here. We appreciate you. John Us. We'll have you back next week. We'll talk about the Washington football team. At that time. Let's go ahead and get
to a break. We'll come back from that break. We got some questions. We'll ask these guys about this matchup Cowboys versus Johns when we come back. This is Dallas Cowboys dot Com Radio. But like no, but like so Randy couldn't get votes for a month because he was on ir He comes back and plays the game of his life and there's four more to play, and you can you can. You have to stop voting today, Dave. It's ridiculous. You're talking about we're talking about the NFL. Yeah, they don't understand their own products, and they make every season they make just there are lots of them where
I'm like, I have not really understanding. They don't they don't understand their own name. You know, all the rule I don't know all the stuff they're trying to factor in wells because we can vote for a president in one day usually, but it does get it can't take the time to figure out that's the plan at least, And uh, yeah, you're right. I mean it is kind of weird when you think about, well, this is the time where the games really matter. Let's put all the
division games at the end. Let's let's let them go vote down. Let's let the cream rise to the top. They can't, they can't have a digital iron Man announced the names on on Disney Plus at eight pm on Tuesday night. If they don't get it done now, you know, they got to get all their graphics in order and everything.
That's true, sorry, kind of true. Well, what is your question though, because you were gonna ask you, well, I was gonna I was gonna ask you, guys, if you could only pick one offensive and one defensive player for the Pro Bowl this year from the Cowboys who they be. I think it's pretty clear. But I want to see what Mica defense easy done. And that's the I'm sorry, Trayvon, Sorry Trayvon, but that's interesting, Like Trayvon's like leading the
league in interception. I said, I'm sorry, it's a testament. What more do you want you're making me? You said one, Yeah, Mica is the one offense. I would probably say, Zach, Just go with Zack, and that's the easy one. That's the Yeah. Just that's a cop out, is what that is. But yeah, I mean those are the two well I'm thinking of that's not a cop I mean, well, it's just I mean there are guy, there are plenty of guys on offense that have had good seasons, but they've
just nos dived so much in the way. Who you think is gonna go? Let's quit answering around me. Who's gonna make the Pro Bowl? Who do we think? Let's just let's just see. I'll tell you who. I'll be disappointed if they don't think there's gonna be eight guys make it? You do, Okay, I don't even know. I just that's just my number eight. You just threw out a number. I don't think Dak. I don't think Dak's gonna make it. No, I kind of don't think. I
don't think Rogers Brady and Kyler Murray. Yeah, now you could still make it. Yeah, but we're talking about when they announced the team. It's not six weeks from now when somebody opts out K has a better chance than Dak. He hasn't been playing well. I don't think, honestly, I don't think either one of them are going to make it. That's my I know it's only a third of the formula, but Zeke was the leading vote getter among NFC running backs, ranks third and rushing right now behind. I think Zeke
makes it now. Four Nett's having a good year, in Connor's having a great year. Two just doesn't have a lot of numbers, but it's got touched it. He's got a twenty, not that many. He's got Zeke, Tyring, zach Um, cd C, I think cd cd Um, Micah trey Von. I would like, I see, I would like to make it. I would like. I think he deserves it, but it's so much about name power, and nobody outside of the
Cowboys fan base really knows that what he's doing. That's also where I think the other two thirds of the vote, which is coaches, players, That's why I hope, I really hope Jayron makes it, and Randy deserves to make it, and it's the NFL's fault if he doesn't. Yeh Yeah hopefully, yeah, hopefully the coaches and players aspect overrides the fan vote in that regard. I mean, honestly, the guy who deserves it is just as much as anybody really is, is Anger.
Brian Inger has been great. Numbers are outstanding. His numbers are on pace to actually break Cowboy franchise records. Really yeah, net average. I mean he's been he's been phenomenal this year. It's just, you know, you don't think of offense. It's supposed to be good like this. Who cares about the putter. But the putter has flipped the field several times for them this year, and I think he's been really good.
He's been awesome. I just sorry, I don't pay enough attention to punters to know how he compares to some other guys. In the end, wouldn't rule out Schultz either, I mean tight ends got numbers. Sorry, sometimes what's happening in my brain kind of just shows on my face. I'm sorry. Derek and I are Dalton Schultz fantasy owners, and we disagree. We disagree. I'm not very happy with him right now. I know I am the same. And that's not fair, I know, because you know, players don't
they don't. They didn't pick themselves for your fantasy team. You picked them, so don't be mad at them. But just he looked he was looking like the steel of the year. You know, there's always a player that's like picked him off waivers and he won me a championship. That's what Dalton Schultz looked like at like Halloween, and I would's crazy. It's like, I'm still so amazed at how quickly things can change. Like how we were talking about the Cowboys offense beginning of the year the first
half of the season. Two were there are now. I mean I think that then back then, we would have been like, Okay, who doesn't make the program. But we didn't have cow bites two years ago because yours would have been like, well, he needs to be cut, and I was like, yeah, agreed, Yeah we all thought. I mean I didn't think he was gonna make the team. You know, I went back and watched the game. Yea, um, this last game, and yes, the pick was terrible by Dak.
You don't need to be side arm that interceptions on him On Schultz, Helts just stops. He's supposed to keep going, keep clearing. That's the play. He just sits and stopped. But even at that, it still would have been an intercept if he kept running. Like the way Dak threw that ball, I just don't think he saw the line. He didn't see him, but Choltz had to. I mean, he's gonna throw it, he's gonna he no, I don't.
I don't agree if you go back and watch it, because if Schultz keeps running, then there's no way Holcom catches him. That I noticed that. And then also I still, for the life of me, has anyone figured out why on the play that La l got in the fight, why that wasn't a first down for the Cowboys because Marker caught the ball. Yeah, they called it, and then the ref said after the play seventy one, so it
should have been first down. And if you said that in the press box, and I got a lot of people on Twitter hid and be like, hey man, why why didn't they get the first down? And nobody really talks talk about it. He caught it ated to catch everything. We talk about it a lot, but like when you're up, especially especially at FedEx where you can't see anything else, and like, nope, nobody's helping us, Like we don't have the graphics and the play by play, so barely get
that down in distance. Yeah, that's why it's it's a struggle, but we do get it there. But when people say and then they say it wrong and then they come back and say, no, that's there's got to be a better way. There's just got to be a better way than that, because honestly, I feel like I'm the reason why Jordan Lewis got that force fumble. I really do, because I said to Joe. I was like, Joe, oh yeah, they're calling a force fumble on curse or somebody, you know,
like that's not right. Yeah, And then Joe told him and they were like, oh yeah, So I mean it's just it's like we look at the stats. I mean, this is the Bible. Every every Monday, We're like, here's the stats, and what I realize how they actually he comes up. But I did find the best job in the NFL. There's one lady in there. Her whole job, the whole day. All she did was say shotgun, shotgun, shotgun. I'm like, that is the best job in the NFL. So easy, Hey, honey, while you do how was your day?
How was the game? Shotgun? Just shotgun? That's all she has to say. Probably would have been a lot easier fifteen years ago, you know, probably right? You only say it once every game? Yeah, maybe five times a game? All right, real quick? I did want to go a little deeper on that tight end discussion though, I was David and I were talking about this yesterday evening and check this out. In Week five versus the Giants, Scholtz let the team with six receptions. He also had seventy
nine yards on the six receptions. In the first six games of the season, he averaged five receptions a game. Over the last seven, he has averaged three. His production is down. I don't even know. I think it's targets are down as well. I don't know the numbers on those right off, fan, but I'm pretty sure they are down as well. What do you think is happening with the tight end? Is this an issue of um or A better way to put it is is this a symptom? Or is this more of a cause of why the
Cowboys offense isn't clicking? It could be Gallop, you know, it could be you know, having your your past catching options are you know, now he's he's taking some of that. And I don't mean he's taken the same role because they don't play the same position, but you know from formation and where they line him out, that could be one of them. Um, I don't I don't really know, Like if something else was was awesome then you could be like, well, to pick your poison and they're gonna
take this. But but nothing, nothing, nothing else is awesome, which is that's it's incredibly frustrating because like simple math suggests that one of these guys should be getting great get getting great looks, like okay, if you're gonna clog and cover and double and take away the receivers, like Dalton Sheltz should be getting great looks against linebackers and
whoever else, and it's just not happening. And I'm I wasn't on the show on Monday, so I didn't get to bring this up, But like, why why does it Dalton Schultz should be getting the looks that Zeke has been getting, like throwing a wheel route to the fricking goalpost for Zeke, who's been he's had good hands this year, But why are you throwing that ball to any running back, especially hobbled Zeke, Like they took like three shots down
field to him in that game. And I get it, you go where your read takes you, but like why even like throw that out? Why are like why are you sending Zeke right the whole different thing? He's hobbled, well, not only that. But like and like I said, Zeke has made some great catches this year, But why are you asking him to make this like alligator arm type of catch? Like that's you don't ask You didn't ask Jason Witten to do that stuff, same thing. You know.
It's like put it in my bread basket. That's what I do. And and you would just think that you could scheme those types of looks for your tight end, who I would assume is not getting focused on when you have three such good receivers. I don't understand it, um and I have a hard time believing that they're just like freaking eighty six is not catching a damn ball today. It's not happen. Nobody's saying that, no offense, Dalton. But there's no way that that's what the meetings are
about in the other buildings. So let me ask this question. This is a question comes from Twitter from the Pragmatic Vetter. He says, is Jarwin's present miss presents missing on this offer? I think so? And that sounds silly to say, Now you guys think so. I mean I feel like I thought it was no big I became a Shultz fan and then forgot about Blake Jarwin. I don't think he
got answered, but whatever, gohead. But I'm saying like you guys started seeing what Schultz could do and then y'all were all on board like, oh yeah Schultz, which yes, absolutely, to be fair, but I don't. I don't think Blake Jarwin is the reason why the offense went from amazing to not good. But they Kellen Moore loves twelve personnel. Like the last time I looked, it was like twenty
eight percent of snaps. Blake Jarwin is not an amazing blocker, especially in space, but like he's good enough at that. I think it's a big part of why the running game is not as effective. You got two guys. He's better than mcun as a block Yeah, I just I think he's a better all around player. And again, he's not this amazing. He's not Marty b He's not this like amazing run blocker. But he's also a hell of an athlete that you have to account for. Like, this
guy can hurt us downfield. He only has ten catches this year, but that's his scouting report. You can go look at it. Hey, they're playing the Giants. He's he's a giant killer. I mean, so he's a guy that we're against the Giants this year, I don't and he has one touchdown? Which game was it that Schultz had good numbers but sucked? Remember that? Remember the game where he fumbled like four times? Oh yeah, Carolina? Maybe it
was either Carolina the Giants. It was at home and it was about that time, and I think it was Carolina and he dropped a touchdown, right, yeah, I would be touchdown game. He fumbled like twice, the rest kept bailing him out. It was like, I just I do Jarwin's skill set it a specifically twelve personnel because it wasn't really starting anyway. But like, he's a plus blocker who helps in the run game, who also gives you something a defense has to account for in the passing game.
I do think that they miss him. I don't think that's why they have forgotten how to do their jobs, but I think it's a sneaky loss. I think what I was just gonna say, what's weird is with the struggles that Dak has been currently having. We've seen in the past where when the Cows didn't have this group
of wide receivers be this great or all together. We've seen them rely on the tight end position and how good that combination there helps Dak and he had he has found success in the past relying on the tight end and then now that you see what's happening to me, that position has become so forgettable. Like I'm watching the game and there are so many other things happening that I don't even think about, Oh, what's the tight end
do and where is he? Like it doesn't even pop in my head because I'm too busy looking at the old line or the running game is in work gold, here's Dye running and then there's not a catch happening or whatever. It's just to be on his art times that he's just I forget that there's even such thing
as a tight end position. I can't tell you a good moment from the tight end position in the last like five weeks probably, And he had a decent number of catches in the New Orleans game, but I just don't remand the Raiders, Yeah, he played well against the Raiders. I think he picked up some third downs. I mean was that See that doesn't register with me. It was more of a great pass you know by Dak. So yeah, is there is there a chance. I don't even remember
what Jarlin's injury was. Is he out for a year? He's not. They're not ruling him out, but it's definitely one of those things where if he comes back, it's you're probably talking about like end of the year, maybe even playoffs for him to be available at COVID too. That's he missed two weeks of his rehab and that's unfortunate. He was out there, not yesterday, but last week. He was out there working with Brits, I mean courts. Yeah, and good not in not in uniform. Yeah, but that's
still good. You know he's working. He traveled to the game and yeah, so that mean that that means that helps. Yeah, he's not done, but I just like I said, you're you're not. You're probably talking about Philly or maybe the playoffs. Yeah, yeah, which again that's good. I give one more option. Yeah, I know. All right, appreciate you guys. You We'll be back tomorrow. We'll tell you guys what's gonna happen. Cowboys Versus Giants to Sunday to Live for Nick Eatman, Dave
