The following. He's a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club. Cowboys, Let's go. Are you ready for a break? Yes? Are you ready for a break? Absolutely? Ready for a break? Yeah, and so much for that. It's time for the Break on Dallas Cowboys dot Com. Wa with Nick Eatman, Brian brought us a bar Garcia and Derek Eagleton. It is Wednesday, November ninth,

twenty twenty two, Season eighteen, episode number sixty seven. Welcome to the latest edition of The Break Life from the s WBC Mortgage Studios at the Star representer by Middle like the only beer of the Dallas Cowboys, and I got my crew back. Nick Eatman, you've been with me the last few days. But Brian's back, Amber's back. Where was Brian? I was? I was sick Monday, Yeah, and I'm better, much better, much better. Yeah, let me back.

Last night I was like, let's up here. Yeah. No, And then I had to go to the other end of the earth to do a show yesterday. I couldn't. If I make Terry would have let me brow borrow the helicopter. I could have pulled this thing off. But I had to I had to go and do my radio show and outside of four Worlds, so it was kind of hard to transfer back and forth. But I'm happy to be back talking about the Packers. Look, you look like you got a little tan, do I I

haven't had time to look in them. You've been beach vacation. It was great. Did not want to come back, but m yeah, I'm trying to catch up when everything this morning. Then I see Odell Beckham Junior. I'm like, oh, okay, all right, that's the topic. Oh yeah, I'm sure your email has been blowing up since you've been gone. But clarify, you didn't see Odell Beckham Junior. Not here. No on the email. I was just about to tweet that don't get here. It wasn't like a company email where they're

like not related to emails. I was talking about the website and everything that's going to clift because because people are asking when when is he coming? And you got some answers, Um, you're the beat reporter. What you got I've got that. They're interested there, they should be. They need a receiver. Help, he's he's going to be available. Jerry loves this kind of move. They've been you know,

trying to get guys. They apparently tried to trade for some and they didn't work out, and you know, and I mean, here's a here's a I just think it's a tricky situation. I said this on the radio this morning, one five three. I said, I think there's a lot more decisions you have to make here. This isn't a come help us win these games, can get us to

the playoffs and super Bowl. Maybe like this, he wants a multi year deal he wants and then what I think happened has to happen is it forces you to make decisions on other players that you're not ready to make. They're not ready to make a decision on Cedee Lamb long term and all that. They're not ready to make some on Pollard and Digs and all that kind of stuff.

And I'm not saying they're not going to keep these guys, but they have to figure once you bring him in for this price whatever it's going to be, that kind of sets the bar for all, right, well, so you're gonna be CD and all this kind of other stuff. So I just think it's a little tricky on how

to maneuver. I think he might get to a point in time where he would just take the hired gun approach because because if he doesn't, you know, if he comes back and plays well and doesn't sign a long term deal here with say with Dallas or anybody, then now he's proven to people piece back he could play. Now he can go and determine and get money. I think that's where people right now. I've talked to a lot of trainers and stuff around the league, doctors, people

like that. I'm like, listen, what you know they're they're wondering. Everybody is pushing all the chips to the middle of the table, and the doctors and trainers around the league that are these teams that they're talking about, whether it's Buffalo, San Francisco, Dallas, whoever, they're all going, we haven't seen

this guy's knee. We can't tell you. I can't tell you if he's going to be you know, it started off initially that he was going to be back in November, and then you get a guy like Jake Glazer who says the other day on a Fox pregame show, who goes he's back fully ready to go, And then then you have Ian Rappaport said, wait, a minute. He's not gonna be ready to December. So the problem you're running

into right now is it's somewhere in between. But these trainers and doctors are all saying, I can't tell you if he's going to be available when until I see his knee, you know. And the fact that he went from a November date of ready to go Jake Glazer to a December Ian rappaport, that right there shows you just how much I mean, I think we're all trying

to be really quick about pushing in. I will say this about the Cowboys, the fact that they went after Brandon Cooks and we're willing to give up a second round pick and potentially pay that money that eighteen million. They're looking, they're looking. This is not a you know, because I was talking to people on both sides of the fence on that one, and there's a lot of like, go ask that other guy why he didn't do this, Go ask that guy why he didn't do this, you know,

that kind of thing. So they were they were trying to hunt a receiver like Nick was asking him to do. This is absolutely one of the things that I hate the most about football is the business side of it that it's not such a simple decision like just do it, you know, sign him. People on Twitter you know that

when I, oh, why haven't you signed him already? And it's easy to say, but then you have to look at all those different factors and not just about the money and the player that you're looking to sign, but also, like Nick mentioned, the rest of the wide receiver groups, what you're doing not even for next year, but for future years. So that is I think he has to prove he can play. And that's yeah, and that's why

I think he has to prove. Nobody's going to give a long term deal for a player at thirty years old. They're not going to give him a three to four year deal if he's not shown the ability that he can play. And see that's where that's where he holds the cards. This reminds me. I hate to compare these two guys. It reminds me of Jalen Smith. Jalen Smith got the Cowboys before they could get him. He got a new deal and hold on, I can hear him.

I got to hear myself. He got a new deal and before everyone really realized he's not going to be himself again, he can't do that. It looked like he was gonna do that, so it look like he was going to be a pro bowler and all that kind of stuff, which he was a pro bowler. But then once he kind of figured this out, like all right, he's not worth the money, but he got paid. Yeah, And I think O'Dell's got to figure out all right.

But if I go out limp around not really ready got to learn a new system, I get a couple of games with no targets, no catches, and now that's got to be the money. That's got to be what is on tape for people to pay No, no, no, I've already proven myself. Pay me now, multi year deal now, and then I might ease into it this year and then next year rehab and all that. So I think he's got to be he's gonna try to get who's

gonna give me the most money? Now. I don't want to prove myself anymore, already proved, and the reports are saying he wants a multi year deal, and and for me, I just don't I don't know if I if I can't get Oldell Beckham. I said this on the show earlier this week. If I can't get Odell Beckham that I'm used to seeing for this year, then it's not worth it to me because if I'm looking at next year,

I'd rather go with a younger option. I'd rather go out there and if I'm gonna spend the money, go get a guy who's younger and coming up that I can can maybe get to a bigger deal. Can you always like struct your deals in a way where you know whether or not you meet a certain decentives type of stuff, because that's the type of deal that wouldn't you do or try to make with a player like that. But then on his end, he doesn't want to have to earn the right right right, But I mean and

also depends. I guess I was going to ask you guys too, because we know there are interests of other teams as well. But in a situation like this, you look at the player and they also have more you know, you whether you go for the money or you go for money, plus the type of team that you feel that would fit better for you, and what you're looking for out of those like teams are kind of part of the conversations if you were a adele, like which teams are you kind of well think about interested in

Kansas Kansas City also makes sense. And I've heard, of course that that's the one that that's in the discount the Giants can going back to the Giants. True. But the way I look at it, if Kansas City probably answers all the questions, he would go in there and be among the best receivers on their team. If he's Odell that we know right, he would go into a team that you would think has is an odds on favorite to be in the super Bowl. He's going in

to play with the best quarterback in the league. So a lot of checks go in the Kansas City boxes. If you're Odell and you're trying to think, like I got multiple options, Kansas City's one of them. If the money matches up, I think that that would be one that he'd probably be very very interesting. I would be if I were him. I'll tell you that the path to the Super Bowl is probably a little tougher for

Kansas City than it is for anybody in the NFC. Though, if you're thinking about Dallas or San Franciscans happening with that elbow in Buffalo, yeah, it's gonna happen. No, that's there's no question about that. But the thing of the thing that's I'll say this about Beckham. He does stuff that is. Stuff he does that your guys can't do. He'll go snatch that football. Yeah, he will go be a bad boy. He will be a bad ball catcher.

He will if it's his catch radius is huge. You know, we talk about slants and balls behind or across the middle, and they're high or they're too low. That son of a gun might not be what he once was, but those hands have not changed. I mean he will go get that. He is one most competitive son of a guns I've ever seen in my life when it goes to going to get that football. So that being said, and I'll go around the table when everybody give me an answer, Yes, multi year deal for Oldell Beckham? Are

you in again? I said that. I don't think it's black and white. It's harder. I know you're trying to get that quick answer. But for how much? I yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, we all deserve it. These fans that are listening to deserve yes, let's go do it. Let's go do it. Push your chips in right, We'll spend we'll spend their money. I mean again, I trust that they will figure out a way. They had money carrying over from salary caps and stuff. They've they've got things that they've got to do.

They've got to figure out with what CD, They've got to figure out digs, they've got to figure out all these things that they've got to figure out. Terrence Steel maybe at right Tackle and Steel. You know, they've got to figure out a lot of things. And so to me, they're trying real quick. They're trying. I think they're trying to get Terrence Steel, like, let's sign this up in his agent. He's got a good agent. His agents like, nah, thank you, now, well we'll play this thing. We'll play

this thing out. Like they're already trying to get this thing locked up. But nah, that Terrence Steele is gonna be that's gonna be an issue here as well. He's another guy in there there. They're screwed next year. They're screwed in the salary cap. But that's next year. Yeah, yeah, just like the Rams are screwed. Yeah, Rams are like, we're screwed next year. Hey, everybody, thanks for coming out to the parade. We're screwed on the cap next year.

But this is fun. Look, if you're screwed, then why not push all the chips saying like this, it might be the time to push off. Well, that's why I think they went for Cooks. You know, they were willing to say we'll part with to get this team to part with a draft pick. No, they're not interested in that. They love to draft here and with good reason. They love to draft. Do it pretty well. They do it pretty well. And see, that's your hope. That's your hope

if you're a Cowboy fan. If you push the chips and it doesn't work, it at least you got the draft. You know, the Rams don't have that or like them, have them picks. T shirts aren't selling here. Yeah they're selling in LA, but they're not selling here. I'm laughing inside because oh yeah they draft great and yeah, at least you got the draft. And sorry, Brian, I know you're I mean you're working yeah why not? Yeah? Yeah,

but I because yes, they draft good. You see so many talented players, But then what do you do with them? How far do you get a better We have to replace him? Okay, you know, like that's what I'm saying coaching has gotten better, and I know I've been super critical. I mean I gave Mike McCarthy a Coach to the Year vote the other day. You know I really did. I said, listen, hey, nobody has been harder on Mike McCarthy than me about him as a coach and what he's been able to do. I feel like if you

do keep drafting that this. I trust Dan Quinn, I trust, I trust Joe Wit. You know, I'm starting to trust Mike McCarthy. You know, so as long as you let me keep adding players and you don't give all my picks away, I feel like I always got a chance to bring our young players in to make up for those cap hits, I'm probably gonna have to take messing up. Yeah, absolutely, I know we have to go to break, but real quick, it's just again, we know no team is ever going

to be the same year after year. It's gonna change. And then we're looking at draft guys that come in here and we gotta see, Okay, how long are is it gonna take for those guys to develop? Jalen Tolber an example, we were thinking he was gonna be explosive, you know, he's gonna be relevant this year. He hasn't been so sound logical over there. Okay, okay, anyways, let's just go to break No, no, you're good. But that's my point. It's like, at one point you have to

be all in. You can't be wasting the guys that you have right now, the defense, the way that they're playing, like, let's just effort go all this year. Third, if i've heard of them now. Fourth, i've heard on this show today there was Nick. Oh, dang, that's the move today? Then? Is that? I mean, take a deal? I already see it coming down. Do not make that the title of this episode. It's on the website. William up the right way? All right, we do have to go to breakfast before

we do. Real quick, Nick, give me some injury updates obviously, Sam Williams, Malu Molle Cooker look like they're back. They able to practice. What's going on with Zeke and Anthony barr Um McCarthy, the head coach of the team, says he's the wrong person to ask, but he's the only person we get to ask. But he says, Zeke tells him he's fine. Uh, And basically, you know, Zeke says he's ready to go. They'll they'll, they'll see how it goes. He's not gonna practice today, but I think they're gonna

ramp this thing up. I would imagine I'm leaning towards he would play. Um, you know, you miss a game and then the guy goes for one thirty and three touchdowns, that mean your knee feels a little bit better. So, especially if a bye week, I think I'll be back. Um, James Washington, they were gonna hold him, they were going to start his window this week, and now they're not. Um, and he went into an X the wonky practice. So I just talking about and the way I took it.

Tell me if you if this makes sense to you, The way I took it was, you're going to get into this week where you get into this this Thanksgiving time of the year, and during Thanksgiving obviously you had that week. You have so few practices. But I don't know if it changes anything from the NFL's perspective on the time that you didn't have that twenty one day window. Right, I wasn't. I didn't, I wasn't following. I mean, I

understan he said next week was a different week. I don't understand in the week after even understand the Thursday Thanksgiving Day and basically they don't want to start at the twenty one day window when you have that weird Thanksgiving week in there. But that would be the third week. So yeah, I'm not sure what's happening with with that. With Washington's he says he's very, very close. That's what McCarthy says. I mean McCarthy, I mean Washington says he's ready.

And then Anthony Barr not practicing today, limiting him again, Like we said, I would amat he if he doesn't play this game. He's not missing Minnesota. Yeah, and you don't want him miss Minnesota, as you said yesterday. No, I don't want him. If he's got any pent up, pissed off feelings about that, bring it out in Minnesota. You're gonna need it. Yep, there's seven and one. All right, let's take our first break. We come back. We're gonna

I'm not starting anything until Beam hits that button blockchain. Busy doing something, all right, busy giving you music. You gave you Christmas music. There we go. What do we do well for Green Bay? Well we haven't. Oh, thank you very much. I think I figured out when this

team became broken. Oh when I wish they would know that they want a super Bowl when I left, they figured it out after like, get rid of this guy will be great. Um, I was watching went back and watched the Giants game. On defense, they got a Rashul Douglas got a like a they got a sack and then a defensive holding penalty, and from that point on things started have been falling going downhill ever since. For

the Screen Bay Packers. I mean seriously, you watched they were up seventeen to three on the Giants, and all I mean they got they they were just rolling and they got a defensive holding plane. All from that point on, every game seems to be that they were three and one. At the time, it was the London game and one. Both teams were three. Yeah, and Rashul Douglas got a got a defensive holding penalty off a sack and from that point on the game went south for Green Band

and they haven't won. The haven't won since. I think I figured out the point that the Packers actually broke so cut little Douglas. Yeah, well, you know, but we'll get to him tomorrow if he's healthy. Okay, this is the deal about this this Green Bay offense, and we all listen. You don't need me to tell you about Aaron Rodgers. Okay, to me personally watching him play, his mechanics look really, really bad. You know, He's always been

a guy that kind of throws it. He could throw it around you, he could throw it over the top of you. His accuracy of throwing the football in these games has just not been there at all. And a lot of it has to do with pressure. But the problem with the Packers is their offensive lines all back together. It's not like they're having it. They have Zach Tom is a tackle guard they use. When he's in the game, they have problems. But Zack Tom hasn't been playing. He

wasn't playing last week against the line. I mean, he you know, he does come in for a couple of plays. David Baktiar kind of goes on and off, so they're kind of if he left Hackle at times. But this offensive line, I'll say this, and I think this is what's going to happen in this football game. Their best play running the football is the toss sweep. That's what they're gonna do. They are going to challenge you. And it's a lot of it's a lot of inside fakes,

it's it's play action, a lot of that. You know Rogers play action then, but the toss sweep, this is the play that terrifies me. With the screen Bay Packer offense, and I still feel with Aaron Jones AJ Dillon they can still run the football. That is going to be You just better get ready because they are going to challenge you to stop them from running this football in this game. They are not going to let you collapse the pocket and make Aaron Rodgers look bad in this game.

You know, I just don't see I mean, if it turns into a passing game. The Packers offensive line, even though it's all their starters, they've given up pressure. But when the ball I watched the I watched the Giants game. I watched him against Buffalo. I watched them against the Lions. The toss sweeps their best play when it comes to running the football because it gets these backs going downhill in a hurry. You think, like you said that, his

mechanics don't look good. No, Like if you look at Mahomes and Josh Allen and some of those guys, and their mechanics don't look I mean, because then they throw it different ways. Do you think he's just lost lost? I mean, obviously he's forty, you know, he's probably he's got to lose something. But it's when you watch him play, it's like his given simeter is kind of got real low right now, Like he looks over at you know, he looks over at the bench like what what you know? What?

You know he made throws in that you know, tipall the interceptions in the Lions game that last week. They they got the Lions beat. They absolutely got the Lions beating this football. They get down the red zone, they drive the ball, great try, I mean the first drive of the game, they just march it, and what happens he throws an interception, I mean, ball gets knocked off a helmet gets and you know the way that he's throwing the ball, the trajectory that he's throwing the ball.

You know, early in the season against the Giants, like I would say the ball was going down the field. You don't see that anymore with this guy. And I'll tell you what you gotta with these receivers Watkins, h you know, Dobbs, those Watson, Lazard. You gotta fight to the bitter end with these guys when it comes to playing pass defense. Because if you if you, if you're fighting with them down the field and they've got the ball in hand, keep ripping, keep ripping, keep ripping at

the ball. These guys will put the ball on the ground because they don't always secure the ball. And that's a big problem they've had. He's made some throws where they haven't been able to finish the play. So if you're a Cowboys secondary, if you're a defender, don't let them finish. Take them all the way to the ground and keep ripping at the ball because they'll put the ball on the ground is what they'll do. I mean they'll be they'll be income complete passes because these guys

struggle to finish. That's been a big issue for them. But Rogers, you know what's gonna happen. He looks, He's looked bad the last He's not gonna look bad. Yeah, just get ready. He's not gonna look bad. Give a crap meter. Yeah he might. You know, he might not want to care about losing to the Lions. I'm not saying he doesn't care. He's throwing chairs around, but I'm just saying, um, that's not gonna happen against McCarthy coming in. They're gonna get their best. I don't know how good

their best is, but you're gonna get it. They lose this game to Dallas. There's people already up there like Leroy Butler, guys that we had in Green Bay. They're saying Gowen and played Jordan Love seasons lost. Go ahead, and you know, just take Aaron, just don't play him anymore, you know, play for the draft picks, do that stuff. So yeah, this I thought that they were gonna beat the Lions and then the Cowboy game would be for them to get back to five and five. That's why

I thought this thing. I still think this is gonna be a really difficult game, but you're gonna have to deal with these backs coming downhill, keep and I on the toss sweep stuff. I think that's their best play, the stuff where they're able to just toss the ball, get movement up front, and just run it down hill

as fast as they can. Fight with these set fight with these receivers, they will they will drop the ball if you continue to fight with them, and then get as much you know, get around Rogers as you can, as quickly as you can, because the quicker it happens. It happened in the Buffalo game, they got on him quick, and he'll just go down. You know, he's not going to sit there and and fight for you know, to

take a hit or something like that. So it's I still think it's it's still an offense that hasn't scored a lot of points, and it's again, this is not going to be an easy game. It's just not. Yeah, well that's what I was looking at at all the games they've played so far and the highest um scoring game the two that they've won. One was against the

Patriots and the other one against the Bears. Patriots didn't have their quarterback, they lost Mac Jones during the game, and they almost they should have lost the game, and to be honest with you, before they went to overtime, you know, they just they didn't. It was a missta I think it was a missfield goal there that messed

him up there. But yeah, well the most pot they've score is twenty seven points in those victories and looking at the rest, I mean, the pretty low scoring games for them, and just kind of going back to what the Cowboys defense has been doing all year, it seems like, and I get it, like sometimes he's the type of player that even in the fourth quarter he'll keep it in and like make a big play or something, especially

against the Cowboys. But looking at the way the Cowboys defense has been playing, it seems like it's very much doable to keep them like contain him and then just leave it up too. It's gonna come down to how well offense. This game is gonna come down to how well you defend the run, because if you do not defend the run in this game, he's They're just gonna keep running it. They're gonna keep they'll keep the score low. They don't care, They'll keep they don't want their quarterback

to get hit. That's the thing about it is the pressure they don't want him to have to face pressure. And if they if they have success running the ball, I see no reason why not to just keep going at it, you know, because that's how they the first drive of the game. I mean to try. I mean it's it's it's a mix of run pass, run pass, run, pack and they get down there and they try instead

of running the ball in, they try and throw. And what he did, he says, he threw two red zone interceptions last week, you know, and then and then another one after they got a turnover. Alexander gets a turnover, and then he throws another interception going back trying to

fit the ball inside to Tonyon to tight end. But to me, I just the thing that would worry me if I'm a Cowboys, you know, is you better get off blocks and you better be in position to make tackles because the ball is going to come down hill each And we've talked about the Lions and people like that, the Bears and how they run the football. Maybe your offense will put more points on and they can't come back. But the thing that would worry me the most about

the Packers is that running game. All Right, We're gonna take our final. When we come back, I'm gonna ask these guys the question, what do the cow What does the Cowboys defense have to do? In order to make sure this isn't a get right game? For Aaron Rodgers will do that when we come back. Dallas Cowboys dot Com Radio. The season is finally here. For months, we've been gearing up to win. Now it's time for the

I love how Chris goes all in, Like we say we want Christmas, He's going all He's gonna give us Christmas? Was that Christmas? Yeah? What he was thinking? So, I don't know what he was talking about. Ho ho be a lot of things right now, it's not. It's one thing. You guys are

welcome stops one thing, Yeah, welcome back. His final segment of the five his WBC Morgan Studios at the Star presented by mill of like the only beer of the Dallas Cowboys. Here's my question for you guys. We've talked about Aaron Rodgers. He ain't right right now. Question is, how does the Dallas defense keep him from getting right because we know that traditionally Aaron Rodgers has had some moments with the Cowboys that have just killed them and

kill fans more than anybody else. How do you make sure he doesn't get right this week? Well, they just made a move to add a defensive end. But it was not David Irving. That's that's what done it. David Irving, you know, knew how to stop him now. Not random. He's the last time you beat Green Bay was but he had the was the NFC Defensive Player of the Week. Plays didn't have Michael Parsons though he did not um.

They signed Terrell Basham from injury injury reserve back to the roster activated him, So, um, does he get any playing time at this point? Like there's so many pass rushers on this team. Where does he fit? You know, bar may not play, you know, he's he's banged up, and I don't know, I don't know. They were rotating those defensive tackles until they moved on from Tristan Hill. They might do the same things with the defensive ends. You know, it might be, Hey, you're active this week

and you're not. You're not active kind of Yeah, I kind of figure out, you know, if you're not, if you haven't played at all well enough, Sam Williams. You know I want them playing. I know you do. I know. But they're not better than Basham. Basham had a really good camp. They're not better than Basham. They got more I don't know than bash them. No, I don't believe that. I don't believe that. I think I think I think Follows a better player than Basham. I don't. But that's okay.

We've disagreed a couple of times before we do it sometimes, Brian, you watch tape at all? What are you dragging me into this one? Can you? I personally like Fowler my son? Thank you? Amber? You want to you want to time in here? I'm sorry, nick I that's why why did you insist on me saying that you know I should have learned all these years of working together that I didn't want to end the question because you didn't just jump out there with it. I did. I was trying

to help you here. I thought you were gonna say both. No, you know me. I'll say this though, you know, but it's gonna be about the defensive line in this game. It will be whether it's Basham Fowler, you know, whoever's involved, you're gonna have to You're gonna have to control this front. You just you know, the play action game is gonna be big, The running game is gonna be huge. I just don't you know, green Bay. You could say what you want. It's so hard for me to believe that

Green Bay would lose six games in a row. It really And I'm not saying it because I used to work used I've worked at both places. You know, I grew up a Cowboys fan. So don't before you jump all over me about loving the Packers, don't. And I just I find it hard that a team that you watch, I mean every play that I was watching, I was going, man, that that's gonna be tough to stop. That's gonna okay what Oh he threw an interception on the next play? You know? Is that? Is that where we're gonna get

from Aaron rod Rodgers? Is he stopping himself? You know? Yeah? Is he? You know? Is this once this guy that never threw an interception? I mean in division games, I mean, he never throws an interception. Chicago Agreement. It doesn't matter. He didn't throw an interception. He threw three against Detroit last Is he the biggest problem with that offense right now? You know, I don't let's give the bulletin board material there. I mean, I mean, I'm just saying I don't know.

I don't think so you know what there's there. He does not look like the same player. He just does not look like the same player. But but that's what scares me. He's got XFL receivers. I mean, like, I don't know, now that's true, Like he doesn't have great I think, I think, I think what this is. This is like des Bryant when he could just go out athlete people for for six seven years of his career. Then when he couldn't do that anymore and he had to run routes and beat people and he didn't do

it all the time. And it's not the same. This is like you, Aaron Rodgers was so good. Whoever you put out there, you can have great. You know, he made Martel Bennet into a really good tight end. He was good tight end. But you know, like ye had a good year. Those guys, Jordy Nelson, I mean, Javon Walker, were they really good or was he you know James Jones, or was he making him good? Now that he's dropped off a little bit, he can't make these other guys

better like he used to before. I don't think he's the biggest problem. I just don't think he elevates their game like he used to. No, that's that's fair. I mean that is absolutely fair. I there throws that he makes. I say, where you go? Wow? What you know he

used to get away with things? Yeah, that's you used to you know you he used to get away and still the I mean he's gonna get rid of But there's times when there's like I saw routes the other night, where like guy's break inside and he never misses a route. He finds who your worst guy is, and he's always throwing the ball at the open guy. And there's several times where I'm watching it, I'm going, how do you not see that guy in the middle of the field. How do you not? What? Whoa why is he throwing

over here? And I that's where I think to me that he doesn't know these guys. He doesn't Sammy Walk and he dobbs Lazard Watson, he doesn't. Yeah, he's had you know, you look at it. Go back to the Giants game. Randall Cobb was playing in that game, and he's ripping the ball down the middle of the field to Randall Cop because he knows Randall Cop, he knows where.

And then all of a sudden, these guys now it's kind of like Lazard, I think is his best option to throw the ball to now that he doesn't have Cob. But to me, I would, I would, I would try and find a way to stop Lazard in this game. But I keep saying the running game, because I just when you when things are going bad, what do you do? Just load up and run the ball and just try and just wear them down. Don't let them don't let them rush the passer, wear them down having to defend

the run. Let's go a little deeper on that passing game. As of the end of their last game, Aaron Jones left the seat, left the stadium in a walking boot. Don't know his status at this point. Obviously, they'll start practicing again today and then we may hear more. They did say that the X rays are negative. Yeah, but if he doesn't play, how much does that affect their ability? Because they do still have Dylan He's still a good running back, but Aaron Jones leads them in rushing by

a sizeable amount. If you don't have Aaron Jones, how much does it affect their ability to do it? And particularly when you talk about that toss sweep, he's the speedier. He is the one so compasses that effect what they're able to do. Yeah, I think to me, then you take him out. That is all cowboy fans. If he doesn't play, you should cheer. You should just just yay, just give it a big cheer because he's the reason. Like say, the power they these two backs, Jones. You're right,

Derek the speed with Aaron Jones. But but Dylan and Jones both have this power. You know, I can't sit there and tell you I know a lot about Kylin Hill, you know. I mean he's the third back on the team. They have a practice squad back. You know that. You know they would obviously have to bring up they're not going to go in the game, which is two running backs. But yeah, Aaron Jones, because they rotate these guys, and

it's a light what we saw with Detroit. You know, it's it's a little bit of that, you know, you get these back Chicago same way. It's like, you know, they they've got these guys. But if Aaron Jones doesn't play because they use him on the screen stuff too. He's a great pass catcher, so that that that kills him in the in that in that aspect of it too.

Really the complete back of in the game. It's funny when you look at you know that they face they didn't have to face swift, but they had the Cowboys swift for Detroit and the other back Williams, and then the Bears had two, and then you know the Packers have too. But you know, if the Cowboys try to play two, I mean, we got problems over here, like why why are everybody? Yeah, why can't which one? Is it gonna be like, you know, can't have Pollard and Zeke.

But but every other place it's like they're better with two. And that's what the Cowboys and Skip Pete and McCarthy and even Zeke and Pollard are trying to say, like they're fine, you know. And so it's just funny how you the two back system is dangerous in Green Bay and all these other places. Traite won the game last week because swift play came back. Yeah, that's what I'm saying they were able to get Yeah exactly that he

has three Yeah exactly, Yeah, pretty much. Yeah. I mean, I'm not saying Fields is not gonna be a thrower. He's going to be a problem for prediction right here. Philadelphia's first loss will come to the Bears. Where's that game that it's the week It's the week before they play Dallas. It's the eighteenth of the December. Is it in Chicago? No, it's I believe it's in Philadelphia, but I think I was looking at schedule. I'll have to check that, but to me, it was the first. You

think the next Chicago. It's at Chicago, Chicago. That's that's when you get the wind involved. You got that cold. I'm thinking if you're both teams are running for this weekend only because that's about the only thing I'm word. Weather's not bad. It'll be dark when it'll be dark when you get there, it'll be dark when you leave. But to be in the thirties in a November game in Green Bay, you feel free. It's a short ride of the airport that you'll be f Philly has three

consecutive road games at New York at Chicago at Dallas. Yeah, but I think their first loss will come against the Bears, and then Dallas will get him the next one. I don't I wouldn't be surprised about this week. Washington where home. I just commanders, Yeah, okay, commander, Wait when you say home, you stay home for Philly, home for Philly. And they blew out Washington on the road before. But I think

Washington's playing different. I think this is the time of year where those division games kind of they kind of circle back, you know, Carson Wins kind of senator like, yeah, hanging out by himself over They're better without him, I think. But it's kind of like how many times did the Cowboys just like roll through the Giants or Washington early in the year, and then you play him again in December and you're like, yeah, it would be ready for

that one. That wouldn't surprise me at all. And I think Washington is going to play a huge factor in the in the division race because they are still playing well. Chase Young's coming back back this point. I don't know this week would be trying to save his job. They're selling a team. They'll they'll they'll play going on a lot of going on over there, Like the Giants and the Washington they're gonna play. They haven't played each other yet.

I just think Washington's gonna play a factor in you know, because you said it the other day. If Washington would have won, all the NFC East teams would have been the playoffs. Which that's the season never ends in November. And that's why, because they are gonna play each other division records and they'll even itself out and push each other up or down. Yep, Hey, I real quick. I had one more question before the end of the show.

We talked about Sammy Watkins just a bit, But do you think because I could see a scenario where when you have a quarterback like Aaron Rodgers and you don't really have a lot of great receivers, he is a Watkins is a guy that's a veteran receiver, highly touted coming into the NFL. I don't know they ever really reached the level that people expected of him, but he's

at some moment a lot of people thought great of him. Yeah, I do wonder if a guy like him can can be that guy for Aaron Rodgers that as the season wears on, he becomes more. He's only played three games this year so far because of injury. Does it As time goes on, they start developing a chemistry where Rodgers is like, Okay, I could use this guy. He at least understands the game like I understood. He sees the game like I do. That's a guy I would be

a little bit worried about this week. What are you guys? I would say, Yes, I would say any receiver that's ever played a long career, it's probably had their best seasons. With Aaron Rodgers. I think that's what he does. And so yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if he continues to go. I mean, you're right, he hasn't lived up to expectations. But he's one of those guys where it's like there's a lot of those arrogant gems and coaches that are like,

I'll work, I can figure it out. Yeah, they didn't know what they're doing and wherever, but give them to me. I saw him at Clemson. He was good. Yeah. I mean to me, it seems like just watching him to your point, I can't disagree. I just think right now it's he is so locked in on Alan Lazarre because he knows that Alan will go make plays for him. But like I said, you bet you battle him, you battle him, and he'll he'll put the ball in the ground. You just got to keep fighting him. Don't let him

just take the ball and secure it. It's why Diggs I think should should chase him. I would because Digs will get some passes too, or he'll get his hands in there. Yeah. And if that's the only guy you're locked into, yeah, then good luck. That's why you have an all pro corner. That's why he's gonna get the bag next year or two years, because he deserves it because not only as he's making plays and tackles, but

he also locks up the best player forces you. If you want to go away from me, you're going away from your best player. And when you look at the plays that he does give up, I mean versus what he's doing for you, you take that all day. I mean sometimes there are maybe like a couple of plays a game, but it is what it is. You're not gonna win ut of your single battle. But Diggs is definitely a guy that can do that for sure, and he will get the ball and he's handed if not.

I mean, he'll get very close and you'll take every chance he can get out those. It's funny and it's you know what you're saying there you mentioned about Watkins. I just was looking at targets and receptions and yeah, it's seventeen targets, ten receptions, and then Lazard has fifty one targets and thirty receptions, you know. I mean, so it's it's funny that it's you think that Lazard has more, but it just the ball tends to go his direction where I mean, I got that vibe watching him play

that Giants game. I mean they were, they were rolling along and they had you know, Randall Cobb, believe it or not, was making plays for him and then all of a sudden that went away. And they just haven't been the same. The ball just doesn't go down the field like it did, you know earlier in the year. It's a lot longer flight. When you don't win that game in London, I would imagine, yee, you win it. It doesn't seem so bad, you know, you win it him he could be Kirk Cousins on the plane, you

know what I mean. But lose it. Long long flight, Thank you, guys for joining us. We'll be back tomorrow. We'll talk about this Green Bay defense versus the Cowboys offense. Sillin for Nicki. Mcbrian brought us an amber Garcia. I'm Derek Eagleton. This has been The Break live on Dallas Cowboys dot Com Radio.
