This is the latest from your news speech. It's Friday, the seventeenth of May. Almost three hundred and twenty thousand Australians have been unemployed for between two years and a decade, despite living through the biggest job booms in Australian history. Unemployment data from March twenty twenty four showed more Australians for jobless for between two and ten years than the

entire population of Woollongong. The figures come despite eight hundred and twenty thousand new jobs being created since the last federal election. The University of Melbourne has warned pro Palestinian protesters occupying a major building on campus that it will send in police to break up their encampment because patience is now at an end. The Herald Sun confirmed with the university on Thursday night that it was closely working

with police to remove the protesters. Deputy Vice Chancellor Michael Wesley says students had a right to protest at its Parkville campus, but it was not a blank check. We'll be back after this. A frightened mother from regional South Australia says her child's school was forced into lockdown after a seven year old boy with a history of behavioral issues,

produced a knife and threatened to kill classmates. The mother, who asked to remain anonymous, said the boy brought a kitchen block carving knife to Mount Gambia North Primary School where her daughter attends, on Monday, forcing teachers to launch an immediate evacuation or school lockdown. She said the boy threatened to kill fellow students and struck her daughter with

his fist. The latest act in a rising series of bullying incidents and the Queensland Government's alternative plan for the Gabbett could cost one point one billion dollars and cut its capacity by four thousand seats, it can be revealed. Early discussions among stakeholders indicated the crazy spend was necessary to reach code compliance and prevent the cracked and rusty

stadium from further deteriorating. For the same one billion dollar price tag, former Premier Anastasia Paliche in twenty twenty one said the Gabbutt could be demolished and rebuilt. Four thousand seats could instead be removed as part of a billion dollar plan to upgrade it and sun Corp Stadium. We'll have an update to your newsfeed tomorrow
