Episode description

Today on Consequence of Sound, we are going to share a Crate Diggings interview from Consequence UNCUT. Electro-funk duo Chromeo selected 10 essential funk albums that emerged from Dayton, Ohio's legendary music scene in the '70s and '80s. In a Crate Digging interview with Consequence's Associate Editor Paolo Ragusa, Chromeo's Dave 1 and P-Thugg track the evolution of Dayton's funk output, from the "bizarro Parliament Funkadelic" group The Ohio Players to Slave, to the legendary work of Roger Troutman and Zapp.

As funk enthusiasts, Chromeo are beyond reverent to these midwestern heroes, and their new album Adult Contemporary keeps some of Dayton's more underrepresented qualities at the fore.
