Maria never got the opportunity to meet her father, Andrew Pitts, when he was still alive. He was shot in 1987 outside a club in Rochester, New York, and the homicide remains unsolved. Today, Maria communicates with her late father, Andrew Pitts, through Jonathan for the first time.
