New Study on COVID-19 Antibodies in Children
Oct 09, 2020•1 min•Ep. 99
Episode description
The UofA is starting a project where they are testing for COVID-19 antibodies in children. Researchers are recruiting Edmonton children between 8-13 years old where blood samples will be taken every 6 months over 18 months, alongside filling out a survey on demographic information and lifestyle habits. Antibodies are part of the body’s immune system response and are made in response to infection. This study aims to understand how many children have been exposed to the virus, what their antibody levels are, and how long they last. Produced by Simran Pherwani (Simran is currently a MSc Student in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta).
