Episode description

The theme of Psalm 23 is that God always protects and provides. The psalm relies on an extended metaphor of God as a shepherd and the speaker as one of his sheep. With God as his shepherd, the speaker says ''I lack nothing.'' Through the psalm, he details the ways in which God provides: he leads, he guides, he refreshes. The psalmist concludes with the idea that if he remains with God, then ''Surely your goodness and love will follow me/all the days of my life,'' claiming God's protection and provision as eternal.
