Grief is one of the heart’s natural responses to loss. By our willingness to mourn, we are able to acknowledge, integrate, and accept the truth of our losses. This allows us to feel the truth of our pain. The heart has its own rhythms. It will open in its own time, little by little. In a culture that has forgotten how to grieve, we can heal by honoring our pain instead of succumbing to the urge to “get over it.”
