The stage was set for conflict when the colonists of New Sweden became subjects to the English crown. For some, the old Swedish ways lived on through the folk magic of "healers". Margaret Mattson of Ridley Creek was one such healer, tried for witchcraft in 1683. The results of that trial just may surprise you.
