Hey, listen to come in and click out Podcast, Episode four thirteen. I'm brand O, I'm here, Riyaner. We're gonna make it rain Cats and dogs now our theme sun. Hey Ryan, We're back for yet another whirlwind adventure. How you doing good? What is going down? Whole bunch is going down? The temperature is one of them. Our spirits about the weather are crushed. Thus are going down. We have some stories to tell, some people to thank, an interesting deck, and some cool responses already
to it we're gonna talk about. Before we get to any of that stuff, you have to thank our official business daddy's Fusion Gaming Online dot Com. They are your source for all your gaming needs and Pile the Bones Brewing Co. They are the official beer sponsor for this season of CCO Sidewalks LANMG, which is killing it on the internet. They're also the second coolest thing to come out of Regina after our buddy Keel WHOA Yeah, several things lots of
there. Yes, first one Fusion Gaming Online dot Com go there. If you're gonna spend money on magic cards, you might as well spend less of it, correct and you can do that by using special promo code CCO summer even though it is not, and we're aware of that. To save five percent of every single item you purchase from the store. I got this, I got this. CCO Summer saves you some money. You're gonna spend it anyway, spend less, pretend that it's summer. Use that promo code.
Yeah. If you're new to the nation, because we got some new subs because of Sidewalkslam and our new CEDH content. We'll talk about that in a minute. If you're new to the nation, welcome, Hello, Yeah, what's going down? You can use CEO Perks promo code when you spend over one hundred dollars Canadian that's like four dollars American, and you can get ten percent of your order value applied back to your account in store credit when you
use CCO Perks promo code. And I got some perks because it's called out See what I did. Oh your nipples? Yes, my nips? Yes? So brash? Okay, oh man? They would if I didn't have a jacket and a sweater and a T shirt on, they would be cutting
the lens of the camera right now. We were sitting We're playing eh, eh and M On Thursday, okay, And our store has a mall entrance around the corner and how many meters or yards feet say away, that's like hundreds hundreds so far away and a corner, and the cold was still coming from the door into the store. Dude, it was. It's insane. And I know we've talked about it on the pre show. We're talking about it now. It's too fucking cold. Yes, if you want to hear
about how cold it is, watch the pre show yesterday. Again. If you're new to the nation, watch the pre show. We give stuff away on the pre show. It's a fun time. It's a little prep thing that we do for the show. We give hints you win our win our games. Yes. Also, if you are a patron over at Patreon dot com slash CCO podcast, you'd be in our discord and you could have seen the weather updates that I posted. They're trying to call the police and report
a crime, but they just laughed at us. Yeah, they were like, that's too cold. Nobody's doing crime and nobody's going out to arrest the weather Brando. It's just that's not well. Nobody's going out to do nothing, not not police work, like not even not even houses burned down. It's so cold. The firefighters are like, yeah, no, we're cashing it in. We just trust that fire doesn't catch when it's minus fifty two. The old flower plant actually burned down. Oh yeah, that sounds like
such a that sounds like a made up news story from the twenties. Hey, Randall, the Old flower Plant's on fire. Get your bucket. We're making a bucket brigade. Yeah, but the it burned down, it's like the there's like two things in the Saskatoon City skyline. There's the Besborough Hotel yep, and the robin Hood flower Plant. And the robin Hood flower Plant has burned down. Well, it's made out of concrete and steel. It'll be fine. Now they have to knock it down. Oh do they What
are they gonna build there? I don't freaking downtown stadium. Finally, maybe they're gonna change the plants where the stadium is gonna go. Honestly, probably nothing, let's be honest, yes, probably nothing. It'll be a gravel parking lot, just like when they knock down the path. Hey yeah, it'll be an impart. And they'll try and build a library there. Yeah, because we need a seventeenth library. Hey, if we want to be on McLean's Top one hundred cities in Canada, though, you got to have
like eighty six libraries one per person. That's how many libraries we need, hundreds of thousands of libraries. Is that why everybody's both those little libraries in front of the house. I don't we have lots of those. The only way to get rid of books these days because nobody wants books. Yeah, I don't know. I guess if all of your friends just have kids, you just trade books. Your whole life just becomes a book trading. It's it's like playing magic, but with books. I gave all of my books
to Ryan when he had a kid. Yes, and we gave all of our books to one of our neighbors. There we go, yeah, there, see makes the world go around. So literacy very important. By h read, We're going to talk about learning and literacy and stuff today on on Today's Deck, Raining cats and Dogs, Snowing cats and dogs. Yesterday on the pre show was a hint for written, Siri Baby, give it a read, and then we've got some podcasting business to go into. There is
so many words on written and SyRI and separable. Yeah, this is this is our deck to teach people how to play magic. And I think Brando made a goof because I don't think it's gonna work, but he's gonna try and convince me otherwise, and I'm gonna. I'm gonna do it also, Okay, I'm gonna physically do it for a person o case. So they are a legendary cat dog four four for nuts Naya right, correct, Naya and one. Whenever you cast a dog, you make a cat. Whenever
you cast a cat, you make a dog. Those are tokens. Correct. You can tap Naya and them and they deal damage to any target equal to number of dogs you have, and you gain life equal to number of cats you have. I feel like that should be reversed. I I was saying that the other night because cats are dicks and would do more damage, but dogs are like more pro techy, so I feel like they would do the life gain. Yeah, I don't think cats can do more damage than
dogs, that's true, but like, I know what you mean. If you had let's say you had one dog, the cat is gonna knock more plants off your table than a dog. They're gonna do more damage to your life because they're gonna knock your plants down. Yeah, they're gonna shit in your socks. No they're not. They're gonna scratch your furniture all up most likely, right. Yeah, the dog's gonna like chew the corner of a bookcase one time and then I'm gonna frick and boot it outside on's minus fifty
two and say, think about what you've done. Yeah, they're gonna learn and they're gonna be your best buddy for life. The cat just tolerates you because you feed it. Right, So for fast generalization, but that's the truth and correct. Yes, it's a good card. Anyway, I got some business. Yes, speaking of tolerating, because we feed, we've got to give away about worms. Sure, feeding the worm? I couldn't make it work. Is the winner of fish? No, because you give them
worms and they eat that. Yes, well maybe I'm not sure we eat the fish last week's booster pack game winner. Oh yeah, guest bearu worm speaker. That was the the dectec from last week twenty five percent better guess than the average guess. Yes, I'm gonna read the YouTube handle you get after US Commander Cocoon at gmail dot com. Let us know if you want a CEO sticker pack, a CEEO token pack, of which there's the new Brando alter tokens. I'm holding them in my hands. You could see them
if you're watching on YouTube. What you fucking should be? Joe works really hard and we appreciate his services. Correct or a stinkial pack of regular magic cards from the onion bag. Who wants that? I don't, okay, I gotta read the handlo okay. At Randillium that sounds like a that sounds like an element from the periodic table, but one of the ones that's in that, like the bottom part of it. They're made in a lab and their half life is like fourteen seconds, and they break down and give you
frickin radiation poisoning? Is that what the ones on the bottom are? Well, that's what they do. Oh, some of them are not like stable at standard temperature and pressure, so they're theoretically created in certain conditions, but
then they just break down and Murray Curry gets cancer. Who's that? She's the lady that created currium or discovered it or synthesized it theoretically, man, I'll bet you she wishes that she invented curry instead of curryum, because then she wouldn't have died from radiation poisoning and would instead have made a delicious food stuff. Yes, I think Curry was around before her. If you want a brief history on Murray Curry, you can watch Clone High. Remember that
shoe. I love that show Clone High. Sometimes I sing the theme song in my head while I'm walking Ursula. I'm like, way way back in the nineteen eightiesip of government employee you stug up famous guys are ladies. Yeah, that's such a good song. Yeah, man, that's a cool one. That's a cool one. So that's the first piece of podcast business. Okay, second piece was go watch Clone High because I was a good one.
Yes, I was good. Also watched the CCO Sidewalk Slam episode one up, episode two on the way up very much so it is a good game, like yeah, heat it a couple of time, oh man, episode two even better, like the the the Ship that Goes Down. I laughed so hard I fell out of my chair, like when we were playing some of the funniest stuff because like Brando's getting pissed because Alex is like trying to beat him, and he's like and he's trying to do the thing.
And then Brando thinks that he's picking up getting picked on, but it's actually me getting picked on because I'm playing a deck that sucks and just oh man, it's so funny. So watch season two, episode two. It's coming out at the start of February, so we're about halfway there. It's with Tyler right now. I just said Tyler a little a little thank you end of the year package with some new giveaway stuff that we got from our good
friends at Ultimate Guard. We're gonna be doing some giveaways on Sidewalk Slam coming up from Ultimate Guard. Oh good eh Okay, they got them deck boxes that are made out of sawdust. Oh yeah, and they smell like pine needles. Yeah, so it got some of those. Those are kind of cool. Anyways, podcasting business, we've got a Patreon supporter who increased their pledge to thank and probably give her a new nickname too, because I don't
remember or he doesn't have one because he's been around for a while. Okay, this is big thank you and fu two Jeffrey Castle and it's Geoffrey. I bet it was like a white Castle joke maybe, which now would turn into a suitcase joke because the last time I got White Castle, all the burgers came in a suitcase, yes, which was awesome. Yes, maybe I also want to make them the meme joke where the guy wheels his nuts
around in the wheelbarrow. You ever seen the meme? It'll be on the screen if you're watching on YouTube. And I feel like Jeffrey Castle is like a big baller now because he increased his pledge. He carries his nuts around in a suitcase. How does he zip it up? Though? Well, you just don't sip it up all the way, and suitcases don't. I guess they do zip up. But the point is I'm getting Ben Stiller on something about Mary Vibes. Man. I hate Ben still I do too.
But the question how did he get it all the way to the top? That's That's what I'm thinking with Jeffrey all the way to the top? Castle, Hey, there we go, we did it? Is it a tower joke? Still funny? Still tracks? Could be Is it a zipping his nuts up in a suitcase joke? Also funny? Still tracks? Yeah, so big thanks to Jeffery. Is he walking on his ball his ball nuts. Does he nuts like one of those bears that stands on a barrel or a ball? Oh? Yes, yeah, he does his own. Yeah
that's good stuff right there. I like that. Okay, next piece of podcasting business to do it. If you like CEDH, you can check out John's Hot Bruise and Lessons from CDH. He just did an interview and the CEDH crowd seems to like it. With a penguin, Yes, definitely a penguin. You should watch it, as they sound like, learn it's not
just about c EDH. I guess if you want to get better at playing magic or commander in general, don't you should probably well, don't don't get better, But if you did, you could watch John because he just talks about magic theory through the lens of c EDH, which I guess is where like actual card decisions, sequencing, tight play, meta gaming, all of that kind of matters in c EDH, where when you're playing cats and dogs, you know, metagaming always matters, you think, I think it does.
I play lots of meta stuff. I suppose. Yeah. We sometimes when we do deck text, we'll say I think that's a meta choice. We'll see that often as casual. I guess there's definitely meta things that you play because not just because they're pet cards, because they work good. Where there's a lot of lands decks where we play. Yep, so you want to play, you want to play anti land stuff. Listen to Commander cookout, We're going to talk about land destruction. They're not casual. Well they
play blood Moon, play a basic and shut up. Yeah that's what he said. Yeah, yeah, speaking of I don't know. Next piece of business, we got a local event coming up. The Face to Face Games Tour stop Saskatoon. Always one of our favorite nights of Yeah, the time that it happens, the favorite Commander Knights of the year for us, because we get to go and play all day. Yeah, we have to play
magic all day long. Our buddy Keel usually comes up. He brings Pat pro Cop along with him, right, Peter Peter pro COO, Pat pro Cop, Peter pro Crop. I change your name however I want to. Then we go out and we drink beer after out of boots because we usually go to Birmingham's. Yeah, and face to face employees come after, they kind of clean up shop and we chip, cheer, shoot the shit chum with them. Yeah, it's fun and it's a ton of fun. So
if you're a local, that's Jazz n You Worry twenty seven. Yeah, come, Their Commander packages are on sale. I haven't reached out to face to face, but if we get a little promo code to save you a couple bucks, that's usually how they set us up to help the people out in Saskatoon save a few bucks and usually get some free sleeves or deck boxes and stuff again from our friends at Ultimate Guard. Yeah, and then you get some free stuff, play magic all day and come out and drink beer
with us after. That's literally our whole stick. Yeah, that's the whole that's our whole brand right there. It's everything, and it's here's the thing, here's the thing. It sounds simple because it works and it's fun. Yeah. And if it did, it works, you don't change it, right Yeah, it broke, don't fix. It's a good formula right there. Play magic all day, then drink beer. Yeah, it's great. Cool man. Speaking of breaking stuff, a Buddy John pro wrestler still broke
his leg right in half. Oh yeah, the big leg between your knee and your ankle. That's it's your phibia, your tibia, your tibia, Yeah, broke it right in half. Did he break his his fibula as well? Uh, that's the set's the smaller one on the outside of your Like. I couldn't see it on the X ray because you don't get right off because I was too busy looking at the other bone that was like in half and like like off center. Gross. Oh man, it is gross.
It was gross. So if John is listening, which he might be, you never know. I hope you feel better very soon and don't have to get too many plates in your leg. Oh yeah, plates in the leg? Hey, yeah, I wonder if he's gonna get like the fancied dinner plates that like have the swirly brown on the edges. It sounds like something he would do yet yes, yes, final piece podcasting business. Okay, commander coocoa dot com store. We got dice and mini onion dice bags
on sale right now. I reorganized the office at my house and I changed where stuff was to like give me some more floor room and to not have friacking boxes and T shirts and sweaters everywhere, right and uh, the box that I put the dice in, I've got just a little bit too man to fit in the box. I'm like, hey, he's gotta got and blow them out. Cecio Nation has been generous with they're purchasing of sale dice, but if you want more, they're still on sale and they still need
to go home. There'll be a link either up here or of course down in the show notes. Wherever you listen to the show, whether it be podcast or YouTube, or or wherever you get the show, you can find a link to the website Commander Cocote dot com or the store and you can help us out with some merch, some tokens, some dice, some gaming supplies. We got to oh, I've got a playe mat right here. Yeah, it's the sidewalk but small. Yeah, it's the small sidewalk,
the small walk, the side small. Yes, sure, correct. So we before we kick it over to cards written Serri written Siri inseparable is a dog cat deck? Cat doog deck? Yeah? Mostly cats because cats. Let's just face it, the cat cards are better than that. They've been Yeah, cats have been around a little bit longer. Remember we talked about it when we did the arabo ying way back where cats were sea currictly a deck that gets supported in almost every set. Yeah, but that's not what
this deck is about. True, But that's why there's so many cats because dogs do not have that. Yeah, not yet. They're they're getting, they're getting, they're getting there. Although most of the dogs are bad, let's be honest, they're not doing our boys. And you know what else too, is dogs that say all dogs get plus one. Dogs that say all dogs get plus one plus one don't do nothing for cats. It's great for dogs in your dog deck if you got that, but in your cat
deck not as good. But this deck is for teaching somebody new. So so tell me a little bit about that. Okay, So here's my first fox yer into teaching an adult person. That's important, very important. He's an adult human who knows how to read, who understands games, who's had a couple of lessons. But the lessons were with Doctor who Decks, because that what kind of got her interested in play. But it turns out those Doctor who Decks, while really great, are terrible for teaching people a little
bit complexity. Too much stuff going on, yes, yes, and when you listen, there's lots of stuff happening in this deck too, lots of triggers, lots of counting, but it's all simple where once it's in place, it's mostly keeping track of how many of each thing you have see And this is where things start to come off the rails for me, which is having taught people how to play magic before, which is something you have to learn to do. And then each card teaches you about a different thing.
Even if you don't learn, like even if you don't learn how to like functionally play the deck, each card teaches you how a certain thing works. Trample first or case flying melee FORREXI and flip over, incubator things, all
that shit on cards in here. So I think that. And then there's some complicated ass cards too that you eventually will have to learn and play with that If if you were playing this exactly how the cards were written, you would fail one hundred times in a row teaching somebody how to play magic with this deck. Ah. Now what I will say is with nearly any Commander deck that will also be true. Yeah, Commander is really hard to just
jump into. I could probably put a deck together with a vanilla Commander like Jasmine Boreal with all basics, with all vanilla creatures or maybe with like evergreen keyword abilities just to spice things up. And that person, adult or child, especially child or adolescent, however old they are, doesn't matter, will
still become overwhelmed miss triggers, forget the phases of the turn. Even if it's written down on a paper beside them, which is a very very important and easy to use tool, a piece of paper with the phases of the turn written down, they'll still after a while become overwhelmed and start missing things, and in their mind, once they think they know, start to build a little bit of a routine. They'll go, oh, it's my turn. I'm gonna draw my card. And then you'll say, don't forget to
untap your lens. They'll untap their lines. They'll look at converted manic costs and count their lands and they say, I don't have enough. And then you'll say, did you play a land this turn? Oh? Oh, now I have enough, and they'll play their thing we already and then they'll say then they'll say, oh, go aren't you going to attack? Because they forget all the stuff even when there's something right beside them. So with a deck like this that has a bunch of complexities built in what I would
suggest, complexities is a hard game. You, Oh, yes, don't pretend that it's not. No, No, it's the hardest game. But that's also what makes it the best game. Right, What you could do, Let's say something has trample and then trample and then like another ability. Now you tell this person that you're teaching, don't read that bottom ability. Just look at trample, manic cost, power, and toughness, and then
you can simplify the card until they're ready. And once they're ready, you can start to introduce the next ability or or start to introduce Hey, what's a riggertability? When whenever an at right? Oh, okay, this is when that would happen. And you can introduce complexities already on the card after you've become familiar and skilled in the dialed back version. That is what I think is very effective in teaching an adult who has some experience in games.
But here is the key as to why I did not do that. Okay, I don't want to play that deck, and I built this deck also so that I could play it. Oh, I had to play it a bunch so that I could learn how it all worked. So that I could more easily do it, and this deck could beat the fucking shit out of people. Oh, just beat the shit right out of them, and it's awesome for those watching on YouTube. I just stripped and humped the camera. He's wearing two jackets. He took the outside jacket. Ye, yes is
what happened. So the deck is better than I thought it would be, but also still kind of like when you're missing certain things such as instance and sorceries. Ah yes, and again another other card types and card types that have You know, what's funny is timing restrictions seem like that would make the game harder, like, no, you can't cast that sorcery during my turn,
only your turn. It's actually the opposite. It's instance that get played wrong because people assume that because they're not a creature, they're like a sorcery and can only be cast during your turn. And they missed that little part of the game. So if they're gonna miss it anyways, and you're going to confuse them by saying no, it's better if you do that on my turn or save it for when you surprise me. Just take it out. Reduce reduce that complexity. Right, that's what I did. That's what you
did. So let's flip over to cards, and we've got some some advices that we've received after we asked for it last week. We got a couple of emails, we got some Twitter advice, we got some some Discord advice from the patrons, and we're gonna shre some of that with with everybody as we go. Yeah, do it. Where would you like to start? With cards? Right? While we don't got the instities and the sorceries and stuff, no, I guess there's one. We do have a ramp section,
so let's peep that for first. I guess soul ring, sure, smothering time, okay, yeah, buddy, rap and growth. There's an instant sorcery rampyg Yeah, but that's an easy one. People kind of just know that on early in the game. You want to cast that a rest Coast Explorer. That's a cat that is counters the battlefield. Search your library for x planes, where x is the number of players who control more lands
than you put them into your hand. Yeah. Okay, so as long as you don't go first, that's probably gonna find you two or three land pretty good, yep. Loyal warhound enters the battlefield. An opponent has more lands than you. You search for a planes put onto the battlefield. Oh, this is the dog version of Knight of the White Orchid. Yes, yeah, and it has vig Sure, so we learned vig growing rights of Ila mock Etb's look at top four creature into hand four creatures and of turn
flips into Guy's cradle of importance. It's the funny little dancing mushroom art, which I really like. Sure. Gilded goose taps for a mana when you sack food, right, correct, Yeah, fellwar Stone taps for man of any color of porn fabro o elder Ooh tap not a dog or cats. I just really wanted to play this. I have one, and I want to play it. It taps for a color of mana equal to the number of colored permanents you have. Right, so, if you have rin and
serriote, this will tap for red, green white. Correct. If you have like a Feladar cub and a Birds of Paradise, it will tap for green white. If you have just it, it taps for green and white. Oh yeah, because it's a green and white permanent Okay, And it's got vige and it gets bigger for each color of permanent you have, yes, exploration play extra land, purturn, commander sphere, taps for color sacked draw card, Carpet of Flowers strictly played because I have one and I wanted
it in. Okay, yeah, because this is actually a complex card. Oh yeah, but hard is hard. At the beginning of each of your main phases, if you haven't added mana with this ability, this turn, you add x manna of any color rate equal to the number of islands your opponent's control and opponent controls and opponent controls. Okay, so uh, either main phase one or post combat main phase two. Yep, you can add some mana equal to and opponent's islands. Yep. Oh okay, So here's
the here's the supercomplex play that I actually got. Okay, eighty h and m forest carpetive flowers go through combat because it can turn one opponent has an island, add a green, exploration land, tap sol ring. That was a turn. That's a good turn, and that's that's when it's correct to look at assess the board and say Carpet of flowers in this exact instance is going to be better than Turn one soul ring, yeah, because it turned into turn one. Jokes on you, it was turned one solar and then
you untapped with like probably one again from Carpet of Flowers. Maybe two yep, two from Solaring two land. That's six man of turn two. That's pretty good. I played Ren and Siri and a cat to make a dog. Yep, that was very good. Yeah. Birds of Paradise taps her Maana and Arcaansick taps Hermana. That's the ramp set. Okay, So we got fourteen ramp cards, maybe thirteen because Aarrescos Explorer isn't really a ramp card.
It's a mana go getter, Yeah, which is fine. It's and it's gonna be a fixture too, because like if you're playing try lands or dual lands with manna types, which I am, Yes, shocks and dryomes there are in there in here, okay, but that's something that I worry about later on in the in the world talk about tooting and drawing. Let's do the draw section, because yeah, this is an important part of I guess once you've learned how to play, like the mechanics and the minutia and
the phases and steps, and you can navigate. It's like I'm learning to drive a boat or learning to kayak. Right, you get out on the nice, calm lake or slow moving river. You learn how to like turn the boat, stop, turn about, go upstream and it's calm and it's controlled. You do. You learn what to do when you flip over in emergency situations, the safety protocol, docking, getting in, getting out, all the boat stuff right right once you know all that tutoring, drawing,
combo, combat tricks, instances and sorceries. That's white water stuff. That's rapids now right, And this is kind of that in between where I'm going to navigate some rough water or kayak in the ocean on the surf. I'm gonna kayak, you know when there's other boats around, tutors and draw yep, it's tracking example. Okay, and we're going to talk about a card that I had a really hard time with, so I feel I could probably explain it to this human that I'm trying to teach. Okay, because it's
a hard card. Nobody knows that's how this card works, and everybody has different versions of it, which are all worded differently. Yes, out of the modern one, which is probably better. It's a silver library, holl baby, at the beginning of your draw step, so that's a triggered ability. At your draw step, you may draw two additional cards, right, you may draw two additional cards. If you do, choose two cards from your hand draw this turn important line. So those are any of the three
you've drawn so far. For each of those cards, pay for life or put the card on top of your library. Right, What the hell? That's a draw three take eight? Right? Yes, it teaches you that card draw is very good or a draw to take four and life is a resource. That's a good one. Yeah, some like is four life worth that card? And then you can teach about card quality later, like, well, if you draw two lands, do you pay eight to get them out of the way? Uh? Huh? Right? Like how do you
You got to learn your board state? You got to learn all your stuff, so that card can actually teach you lots about how to sequence magic and how to value your life over the card, over how deep you want to go into your deck. There's lots of stuff you can learn just by playing with a silvern library. Yeah, skull clamp skull clamp. Speaking of resources, turn your creatures into cards. That's right. Yeah, everybody knows that card and it kills your your cat and dog tokens that rid in Syria make
turn them into cards. Oh, and then cast them again, make new ones and then kill them. That's right, man, you are a cycle. I'm gonna make this dog, I'm gonna immediately kill it. I'm gonna drown this puppy in this helmet. Realm walker, realm walker. It's a change thing. So it's all creature types, both cat and dog. It's a cat dog. So is it gonna trigger Siri twice? Yes? Yeah, that's cool. It's a cat and a dog. Your cat dog will make your cat dog make you a cat and a dog. Yes. Whenever
when you cast it, you choose a creature type. You may look at the top card of your library anytime. You can cast the chosen creature type from the top of your library. Yep, you pick cat. Yeah, that's like the top CARDI your library, over and over again. If you've got a bunch of cats in a row, yes, yeah. Or you put a cat back with silver library so you don't pay four life and you just cast it Anyways, there's another thing you can learn from a silver library.
Yeah, Kootzill Malamet exemplar the lesson here. Can you say that name? Yeah? Yeah, okay, your opponents can't cast spells during your turn, so that City and A bottles them. Uh, City of Solitary City Solitude, yea yeah, City of solitudes them. And whenever one or more creatures you control, each with power greater than their base power, deal damage
to a player, you draw card. Yes, that's pretty complex, it is, but if essentially what you tell the new player is if it's got plus one plus one counters, or if it's pumped or buffed in any way, then you draw card when it hits you. Yes, when it hits me, yes yeah. Keeper of Fables, non human entry or deals combat damage draw card. It's a cat, cats and dogs, not human. That's correct. Science Guardian Project, non token creature enters battlefield draw card.
Yeah, this says Ella Damery's call instant speed. Yes, oh, Tutor, search for a creature, put it into hand. Defense of the Heart. Now I'm gonna when we get to the creature section, there are two creatures you always find. Okay, is the way I'm going to explain this to the person. Sure, okay, at the beginning of your upkeep if there are if an opponent has three or more creatures, you sacrifice defense of
the Heart. Search for two creatures, put them onto the battleield. There are no instant when combos in this deck, okay, just keeping in mind. And the last one is Alms Collector. Alms Collector, it's a flasher three four cat for four. If an opponent would draw one or two or more cards each by you and that player each draw card. Yes, my goal one day is to catch somebody playing brainstorm. They go Brainstorm, I go Alms Collector. We each draw one and they put two from their handback
on top. Oh yeah. If an opponent would draw draw two or more cards instead, you and that player each draw card, so it shuts off their card draw. Let's move to removal and let's fly through this kind of quick. Okay, remove we have Casali Slingers. That's a cat. I'm sure gets rid of something. Cat comes into play, kills a artifactor and chairman. Sure Kasli pride make that's a cat. You sacrifice it to get rid of an artifactor enchatment masked vandal enters the battlefield, Exile a creature card
from your graveyard. If you do, you exile target enchantment or artifact. Correct Lion sash. Exile a card from a graveyard. It gets plus one and it's a cat, or it's an equipment correct Kutzill's flanker. Oh, this has flash three to one cat when it enters the battlefield. Choose one. Put a plus one counter on it for each creature that left the battlefield under your control this turn, or you gain two life and scry two or exile target players. Great, that's a fine card. That's a good card.
That's a good card. Yeah. Feline sovereign, Feline sovereign. Other cats you control get plus one and have protection from dogs. Why not? Sure? If you steal my stuff then sure? Okay. When whenever one or more cats you control deal combat damage to a player, destroy up to one target artifact or enchantment that player controls. That is literally the cat knocking the glass of water off the table. Correct, fell at our cub sacket, destroy target enchapment and this one I put in because I own one.
Agatha's Soul Cauldron. Agatha's Soul Cauldron lets you spend manna as though it were manna of any color to activate abilities. Yes, Also creatures you control with plus one counters on them have activated abilities of all exiled cards with Agatha's Soul Cauldron, and also tap exile a card from a graveyard when a creature is exiled. This way, put a plus one counter on target creature you control. That's what it's there for, okay. Bottom line of text is what
it's there for. It pumps your guys when you remove their gravy, which makes it work good with that cat that draws cards if the thing is bigger, and also with another card we're gonna talk about later on. Sure, let's do the protect sex Sure selfless savior sacrific it's a dog sacrifice, selfless savior. Another target creature gains indestructive until end of turn. Pack Leader. Other dogs get plus one this time. Okay, so we've got some dog
and cat synergies so far. It's starting to look like a dog and cat deck at this point, I think, right, I think, so okay. When pack Leader attacks, prevent all combat damage that would be dealt. This turn to dogs you control. There you go, There you go. Merie Weatherlight duelist. This is dueling grounds the card right, Yes, you can only uh no when Merie weather Light Duelist attacks. Each oppontent can't block with more than one creature, and if she's blocking, if she's tapped.
Yep. Opponents can't attack with more than one creature us. Yes, they can attack each other with whatever the hell they want with us one one creature. It's sort of dueling grounds. It's sort of crawl space. It's good. One. That's a good ass card, Maurice Breaker of the Coil. Oh man, Your opponents can't cost spells during combat, so it shuts off instant speed, combat tricks and removal whenever a creature you control deals combat damage
to a player, gode each creature that player controls. That's pretty good. We're gonna learn God, that's pretty good. And that's a cat Warrior for Nya. And one kind of takes up the same spot as Ran and Siri. But that's okay because it essentially makes it so we can't attack if we hit them. Sorry, we can't be attacked if we hit them, correct, kit Canto Mayhem Diva. What that's the funniest name ever, isn't it?
Three three for Nya and one canto enters the battlefield get a one to one white citizen creature, which, for the record, I think is the most hilarious creature token ever. And I don't know why. I just think it's so funny that it's a citizen. Just a guy going on to work. Yeah, right right, some dude, he's got his lunch, paale, he's walking to work. He could be an iron worker working up on a building. He could be somebody flipping burgers and McDonald's. He could be
with somebody going to work with a briefcase to the bank. Yeah, it's yeah fucking citizen. Yeah. At the beginning of combat. On each player's turn, you may tap two untapped creatures you control. When you do, target creature that player controls gets plus two plus two and gains trample until end of turn. Go to that creature. It can't attack us, but it still has to attack. We don't want that big thing to get us, so we're gonna use these two shitty cat or dog tokens to make sure that
that thing doesn't get us. Yeah. I almost wish it didn't have trample, because a lot of the times when something has trample and let it gets plus two plus two. Let's say it's a six to six, it gets plus two, goes to eight with trample, somebody will just eight instead of like chump blocking with a utility guy. Yeah, and then the utility guy stays there because somebody is gonna be willing to eat eight damage if the utility guy's that good. Yeah, But if it didn't have trample, they might
block and save the eight damage. You can also use it to make the utility guy attack also good. Yes, because that's a good way to go. Yep. All right, we're done with the protec, We're done with the ramp, We're done with the toot and the draw. Should we go to where do we go next? This all we have left is, Oh, you want to do better? Or do you want to talk about the creatures in the Let's do better? First? This is these are the things
that are gonna make our creature deck deck that has creatures better. Yes, specifically creatures of a type that we care about. Yes, in this case, cats and dogs makes everything we do just be better. Yeah. First card is a card that I'm Every time I play this card, I feel awesome about it. Yeah, And it's tribute to the world tree, Yeah, green, green green. Whenever a creature enters the bat if it under your troll draw card, if its powers three or greater, otherwise, put
two plus ones on that card. So if it's little, it gets bigger. Yep. Whenever a creature jers benefits, so this counts for your tokens that render makes it does so they become three threes. Right Ooh, so I play a three to three I draw card, I make two one ones that turn into two three threes. That's nine power for probably three man like one or two or three. Yeah, that's good. That's good shared animosity. Whenever a creature attacks, it gets plus one plus zero until end of
turn for each other attacking creature that shares a type with it. So creature types, all matching is gonna matter. You're learning creature type synergies. There. We have parallel lives and doubling season of course, because what new player friendly deck would be complete without spending two hundred dollars on two fucking cards I own them's. Yeah, it's not that much, but it doubles your tokens, or it doubles your plus ones. What's better than one cat and one
dog, two cats and two dogs. Yeah, there you go. Murori's Wake. Murori's Wake creatures you can get plus one plus one, and whenever a land taps from Mana, you add an additional type to that land produced correct yep, mask wood nexus, you choose a creature type when it enters the battlefield. Nope, creatures you control are every type. That's it is. That's what it is. The same is true for creature spells you control and creature cards that you own that aren't on the battlefield. So everything is
a cat and a dog. So it'll double trigger Ren and Siri all the time. Right. Also, three tap put a two to two blue shape Shifter creature token into the battlefield. With changelingks, you get cat dogs. All your cats are cat dogs, all your dogs are dog cats, and you can make cat dogs with your artifact. So let's say you go four to cast it, and then you go three, so you're seven in.
Now this is post commander casting. Pay seven. You're gonna get a two to two cat dog, and then you're gonna get two to one one cat dogs as well. I think know it's when you cast a cat or a dog. Oh so this doesn't work as good as we would like with ren and Seres. I wish it did work. Okay, but when you cast your cats, you get dogs. Just get thro an extra body with yah or stuff, and you can make blockers with it. Yeah, Jenny faye Jetmere's second. Oh man, and wait until the next card smoke. We're
doing better? Is that we're doing? Yeah? Three three for Celesnia hybrid green gruel hybrid. I get there, just you did, okay, Elf Druid's better have a good reason. I don't know why this isn't a cat or a dog. I don't know if you would create one or more tokens. You instead create that many two to two green cat creature tokens with haste or that many three one dog creature tokens with vinge. That's very good. Ah. You always pick the cat because they have haste. That's right.
Okay, that's what you're learning. We know this. But the dog is bigger. Yeah, but the cat is better. Cat is faster in this case, yes, yes, Now let's talk about going fast because of cats? Are we gonna talk about Jetmere? Nexus of rebels? Rebels? You mean crater hoof in the commands, That's what I mean. I got jetmeared the other day. No man, Lara jetmereed me. Okay, so this is a five four for four nia and one, sure, because why wouldn't
it cost four? Went On. Creatures you control get plus one plus zero and have vig as long as you have three or more creatures that's jetmeir and two by the way, yep. Okay. And if you have Rent and Syria and you cast jet me or, you're gonna get another one, so you're gonna immediately have three. Yes, okay. The bare Minton creatures you control get an additional plus one and an additional trample if you got six, yep, because now they're big, so they might as well trample. And
that's just where your deck sits. Yep, Like this is where this deck sits. Okay. Now, creatures you control also get an additional plus one and double strike. Yeah if you have nine guys, yep. Man, this card ends games. Oh yeah, this card is. This card makes me want to take my Saperling token deck apart because it's literally Oh yeah, I got ten just because no reason, because I'm playing junk comments from two thousand and two. Cast Jetmere I win. Yeah. And the last card
on the do better. Section is beast Master assision. It's literally the same thing. Yes, you attack with seven dudes, it gets all you guys get plus five plus five plus five plus five. Yes, that's really good. That's very good. If they got jetmeir, then they got plus frickin' eight plus five plus eight plus five traple double strike vigilance so they can block two. Ohody survives that. And don't forget when you block with vigilance or double strike, you still hit twice. Yeah, oh my lord, it's
so good. Alright, Okay. The last section of the deck is the attack section. This is the Cats and the Dogs. That are just the cats and the dogs that show up in cat and dog decks that you use to beat wholesale ass who to funk? Right? First? One universal automation automaton automaton same thing. Not a cat nor a dog, but a cat and a dog. It's a robot. It just happens to be a cat
and a dog. Yes, one one for one, all creature types sovereign akanik oh okay, three four cat noble for Celesnia and two Ward two because of course everything has Ward two that was printed last year. Whenever it attacks for each creature you control with power greater than that creature's base power, you put a number of plus one counters on it equal to the difference. So
the bigger it is than normal, double that biggerness. So if you attack with let's just say a beast Master rescension, all your guys get plus five plus five. He will put five additional counters on there. Oh, and then the next time they attack, because you still have your beast Master ascension and for some reason people survived, and you attack the first time. This time they get ten counters. Oh that's pretty good. This card is the
truth? Is that one one of the ones we search for with the Defense of the Heart, Yes it is, yes, okay. The other one, there's two packages you can find. There's the advanced package and then there's the one that I like. Here was Jetmir one of them. The other one is Jetmir, Yes, jetm not in this particular case. There's Jetmir and a guy, and then there's Sovereign oknek Ahu and Skyhunter Strike Force.
Okay, flying melee what I don't even know what that does? Oh you will, Okay, it's a two to two for three with flying in Melee and it's lieutenant. As long as you control your commander, other creatures you control have melee. Melee is whenever you attack, your creatures get bigger for each opponent you are currently attacking. Oh, this particular combination of dudes turns into a game winning combination. They get plus one plus one until end a
turn for each opponent that you are attacking. So you attack three different opponents. Oh, you guys get plus three plus three, and then then Sovereign Okanik who gives them additional plus three plus three, so they get plus six plus six when they attack. When you have both of these, yes, that's pretty good, and it teaches you to like fucking go with people.
Yeah, you know what. Okay, So here's the thing which may not necessarily be the best situation all the time, but I want to lean into one of the suggestions or things or tools that people use to teach, because we haven't. We haven't gotten into any of those yet. We shall. We got an email saying Jumpstart was a very effective tool for teaching new players one hundred degree. If you want to have jump Start in your house, that is literally the reason Jumpstart was made. Yes, Now, whether you
like Jumpstars or not is your own proclivity. I love it because it's simple and it's random, but it's like designed randomness, so it still works. I love its existence. I'm so happy jump Start exists. Yeah, but I still you don't like to play I don't want to play it. Yeah, that's fine. I like to watch hockey on TV, but I don't like to play hockey. Yeah. Yeah, it's the same, same kind
of thing. Totally happy with the existence of it. But like, and if I obviously don't like something, I'm not gonna be excited to try and teach somebody something. Yes, and if you're not passionate about what you're trying to teach, it's less effective. Yeah, you get less engagement, less
learning kind of sticks. Now, the connection between this portion of the deck and jump Start is jump Start is built in a way where you can kind of see or at least once you get the phases of the turn, drawing, untapping playing stuff, you can kind of see where the attacks are. My four four bigger than your three three. Your man has tapped out. I can attack you with impunity, you can block and your guile dye, or you can take four now three opponents tons of creatures, untapped man all
over the place. I find new players and less experienced players just don't attack. They just don't attack. And is it because they forget, They don't know, They don't want to make an enemy, they don't want to maybe lose their guy. They don't want to leave themselves open because player three over there also has a creature that could attack them before they get their turn again,
and they want to sit conserve life. New players attack. And if these cards, these last couple we've looked at, are in there specifically to remind players that you need to attack to further your strategy and get closer to the end of the game, they they would be effective tools. And I relate that to Jumpstart because that's what I find Jumpstart is very good at. And you'll notice that I don't have anything that just says draw card on it.
Everything says attack somebody and hit them, draw a card. That's where all the card draw comes from from. Fucking attacking, attacking, they get in there, kick them when they're down. God damn it. Well you have their lips, you stop their links into the dirt. You don't have any I don't have any blockers. Oh my god, yeah, you don't have any blockers. I'm not gonna attack you. Fuck that. Hit them for eight yep, played them for Chase, but they can hit me back
for six. Good. Well, next time you're gonna hit them for eighteen. Yeah. Yeah, well they can hit me for ten. You're gonna hit him for forty ten. They're gonna die. Yeah right, they're not gonna do that. It doesn't matter what your life totals at, just if they're dead. And and we can make jokes about that and be kind of
light and hyperbolic about that. Yep. But that is mostly, especially in casual commander, how games end, Yeah, is getting life and doing the math when oh, you're at thirty because you know your good friend Ryan was attacking for a couple turns, you know, turn three, turn four, turn five, Take three, take four, take two from two different guys, so like take four again. Oh you're at you're at twenty eight,
Okay, I'll do my math. Oh yeah, you're dead to die because somebody got their chip ins and furthered the game along for somebody's agro strategy to kind of provide the final punch. Yeah. Yeah, anyways, and it feels good to hit somebody for forty let's be on H thirty one or whatever. Next card Regal Caracal. Other cats you control get life link and plus one and and it enters the battlef You get a cat two of them true life linking cats. Sure, Progenitor x ARC. I'm playing this one just
because I think it's cool Byrexian cat Cleric. Yeah, okay, for white x X enters a battlefield, incubate x you incubate three three x times. Yeah okay, I was gonna flip that around. But you incubate three x times transform and you can tap to transform an incubator token you control. So that's like a token with three plus one counters on it. Yep, that's just an artifact sitting there. But you have to flip it, yep for it to become zero zero with three plus ones on it. That's right.
That's really good with sovereign okanek because it's a zero zero, yes, but it's got three plus ones, that's right. Yeah. Anyways, Pride Sovereign. Pride Sovereign gets plus one for each cat you control, so it's a two two natively, so it's gonna be a big big yep, A three to three, four to four just by having Ren and Serio. Really, when you cast it, it's a cat, and then you're gonna get another
dog. Oh dog? Yeah, nope, never mind. You can go white tap, exile it, create two white cat creature tokens, exert it. It's like it doesn't untap Well what did I say, exile it? Oh yeah, exert it. So you don't even have to lose it. You just have to not untap it. Yeah. Yeah, So you make two dudes. Yeah, here's the one that you find when you this is the big beats I need to win. I'm swinging for the fences. You
find Jetmere. This is what defence at the heart of me. You find Jetmer and Fabin bosses confid on. Okay, man, it's got a novel. You read this one, and anybody who ever gets pummeled by this thanks. Thanks f you Aiden because he's the one that told me put it in here. Three six for Naya and three creature tokens you control have haste. Yeah, already, good parlay Jesus Christ. At the beginning of combat. On your turn, each player reveals the top card of their library. For
each land card revealed. This way, you make a one to one green and white that fucking citizen. Yeh. Then creatures you control get plus one plus one t end of turn for each non land card you revealed this way. Then each player draws a card. So that's gonna either give your dudes some combination of plus three plus three and make three dudes, which is gonna turn Jetmeir on because you've already got something else going on, and then you're
just gonna You're probably gonna win at that point. Yeah. Aiden played Fabean on Sidewalk Slam season one and he won that game. He became a slampion I think episode two with this deck yep, and he just like he crushed us yep. Yeah, Bean is good and Jetmeir is good. I think I became a slampion with Jetmer as well. And when you get both of them at the same time, they're very good. Oh yes, and they're not one of these bullshit ones we have to wait for the turn cycle because
it does something right away, and that's very good. That's a good lesson. I guess that's kind of one of those complex lessons, like what's the difference between like a right now or an end stepper or at the beginning of an upkeeper, right, like, does does my really powerful card that I want to play? Is it actually just a six man a do nothing because I have to wait for my upkeep and by that time I'm dead. So that's a lesson in lots of cases, that's the truth. That's a bean.
It is not he I know you like this next one you I love this so much. Naketel war Pride is a three to three for green green green three. Oh what could it possibly do that could make it good? Nacatle Warp Pride must be blocked by exactly one creature if able, Oh whenever. Nacketile war Pride attacks put x tokens into play tapped and attacking that are copies of it, where x is the number of creatures defending player controls.
And then you remove the creatures from soul to So if I got five guys and you attack with this, you're gonna get five tokens, correct, And then they must be blocked. So all my other creatures that I'm attacking with they don't get blocked, they just get in. And let's just say you have five dudes and I have a jetmer. Well, now you're dead and a doubling season. Now you're dead. Yeah, right, now you're in the now. Your dick is in the dirt and your lips are underneath it.
Yes, and both of them have been stomped flat like bookmarks. That's right, Yes, that is correct. I love that card mirror entity. That's a cat dog. And you could pay X to give to make all of your base powers and toughnesses X yeah X big Lee. That's right, yeah, Leon and war leader whenever it attacks there it is again whenever to tax create two one to one. White cat creatures would like tapped and also attacking Boom King of the Pride. Other cats get plus two plus one.
That is literally Savannah lions giving Savannah lions Savannah lion. Yes, I hear you like the Savannah lion. Kahira the orphaned wait, Caahira, the orphan guards. Sorry I couldn't read the words through the crazy art. Yeah, so this has got companion, but that doesn't matter. Ignore the vigilance three to two for three. Each other creature you control that's a cat, elemental, nightmare, dinosaur, or beast gets plus one and vigilance. It gives
your cats plus one and vigilance. Sure, that's what it does. That's fine, Jazail gold Mame. I like this guy, is that Johnny's dead brother? Yes? Yeah, four four for four first strike cat Warrior. You go white white three and no tap there. That's right, White white three attack or white white three attacking creatures you control get plus x plus x until end of two, where x is the number of attacking creatures we're attacking. So in a token deck, this is gonna give for five mana maybe
plus five plus five you go maybe plus six. Maybe you got ten mana plus twelve plus twelve. That's pretty good. Or if you don't have fifteen mana, you can attack one time and then when a nick Ogel who's pumpy pumpy trigger goes on the stack, you can respond to it. Here's there's a lesson there. Yeah, pay five in make all your dudes bigger, double the biggerness. Oh yeah, and then yash a whole pile full of ass or attack all the things that trigger and give you tokens on attacking.
Jisol will look at those and see that they are attacking creatures. So you wait till before combat damage to activate them. Then pump them. Then they get bake them see, and we'll get into this at the end. You're gonna see how I teach the stack in the deck. By the time we're done here, Sure, hungry links, this is a cat to too. For two cats you control have protection from rats. That's relevant probably maybe one
out of every two hundred games. Yes, okay. Also, at the beginning of your end step, there's one target opponent creates a one to one black rat creature token with death touch. Now our cats can't be blocked by that. That's right. Good. Also, whenever a rat dies, put a plus one plus one counter on each cat you control. That's actually good because now you've given your opponent a good blocker. Yes, it can't block our shit, yes, and when they use it to block their shit else,
all of our dudes get bigger. Yeah, it has death touch. I don't like that if there's other new players also in the game, because that disincentivizes other players to attack truth Truth. Maybe that teaches them how to play the control deck. Or oh geez, I should run removal in my deck. Man Wrath of God is a good card, I guess. Yeah, though I guess you could still discern lessons from that card. Yes, and it's also good have butt line pretender. Yeah, that's any cre you're
type. Right. It's shaped after changeling, and whenever another creature of the chosen type cat or dog enters the battlefit under your control, put a plus one counter on it. You pick cat and it just becomes a big cat dog. Yeah. And the last one is a dorned pouncer. This is a one one for two with double strike, so it hits for two and then it's got white white three eternalize that turns it into a four to four zombie out of your graveyard, out of the it's mummified essentially. Yeah.
I just I really I have that cool one that you can see on the screen if you're watching on YouTube or if you're looking at the deck list of the full art like F and M prom War or whatever it was. I really like that card, so I put it in. And that's the whole deck. That's the deck. Okay, So the stack you said you're gonna talk about that a little bit, maybe a couple things that you've got stored up in your thinker about ways that people have shared to teach. So here's
and I'll run this by you and everybody else there. Let me know down on the comments. Well, if you think this is gonna work. So here's how in my head I teach the stack because we have lots of attacking triggers. Yeah, that's what I use, because you use them by you play, probably early on. You're playing one thing at a time. Yes, lots of them don't have haste, so it's one thing at a time.
The deck is linear in how you deploy it. When you attack with your lean and war leader, onto the stack goes an ability that makes you two cats. Yes, when you attack with next turn, like your next turn you're going to attack, you known attack with your lean and war Leader and the sky Hunter strike force. That's the guy that gives everybody melee. That's right. Yes, So now when you attack with your dudes, does
it apply to those two cats that come into play tapped in attacking? No, it does not, even though you're attacking like you know what I'm saying, like it's a complex that's a bad example. Because that's a complex example. I'll find a different one, Leon and war Leader, And where's the other one? Does all bride Goldman? It was a good and now you've got cats coming in you wait for the trigger to resolve. Cats come in disol gold Maine. Make them bigger than your aminec okek pump thing. Then
it resolves. All your dudes get some counters because they're all bigger. I use the wanted a time nature of the things coming into play without haste and attacking, and your attack step gets more complicated as you go. But you learn about layering, You learn about stack resolution, well, not layering, that means something very specific. Sequencing. Sequencing that's the word. I'm that's the word. So you learn about sequencing and resolving a stack because you're making
the stack. You know, and I mean yes, your opponents can interact with it, but for the purposes of learning how it works. When you make it yourself, you're familiar with your own cards exactly, and you can go from your leanin war leader to jisol and and to whatever else has a when you attack trigger yes, and say okay, this triggers when I attack. They could say, well, what order do they go in? What happens? First? We say, well, you control all of those things
that are triggering. You decide right after you've done that, after you've got these additional attacking creatures reaches all again, and it says attacking creatures get X for each attacking creature. Oh, I've got five, mana, I'm gonna pay five. Okay, count your attackers okay, one, two, three, four five six, Oh, they all get plus six plus six. When you're familiar with your own stuff, you're building it yourself, and you've
practiced a little bit. We've talked about that before. That's always important and that's something that'll that'll go in and you're familiar with how your own things work correct, familiar with the game or your own game, you're gonna be I guess what's what's the word. You're gonna have more mental engagement. You're gonna
be a little bit more entrenched in what you're doing. Yes, a lot of the times, and especially for enfranchise players where you kind of know the stick, like what's going on right, if you're playing this deck, I'm just gonna shut off and I'm gonna let you tell me how much damage from witch attackers. You just do it because you know it. I'm gonna shut off and trust you. And then I say how much? You say forty? I say, what's your biggest guy? Yeah? This one does it
trample? No? Okay, I'll block it with a one one, right, and I'm gonna eat the damage, and we shortcut all of that. But when you are building it yourself, I think that's important. The and the I think that that leads to like the for me, at least, one of the big dopamine hits that I get is when somebody shuts it off and waits for me to finish counting how much am I taking? Thirty one? What? Like? That feels really good? Right? Oh? And then you see him SCRAMs like, oh I did good, I did a
good thing. Yes, I did it right, obviously because they're scared. Yep, right, they're shitting a there's shitting like a dog, or shaking like a dog shitting peach seeds. I don't understand that, but I hear it all the time. You know what a peach seed looks like? No, I've never seen a peach seed before, do you. I have an avocado pit that I'm trying to sprout it out in the newsroom. Oh okay, imagine an imagine an avocado seed with a knife, and well, that
size, but it's wrinkly like a nutsack. Oh, but the wrinkles are sharp. That's a peach seed. Oh, I don't like that. I don't want to poop those nude Ain't nobody want to poop? Oh? See the pre show where we're talking about pine cones. Yeah, I don't want to the pre show, right, I don't remember. Oh yeah, we talked about poop and pine cones because CCO nation no kink shaming, but we do know pine cones. Yeah, don't under the pine cone thing. I
feel like that's just gonna hurt you. Yeah. So another suggestion we got for teaching new players was building We'll call them pre constructed decks, like like, this isn't a pre constructed deck that we're talking about, but two decks that are the same deck. Leave them up or whatever, and just build like a sixty card deck versus the same sixty to teach people. And I
think in your particular example, you're past that. Yeah. The person you're teaching already knows what a land card is and what a creature card is. Yeah, you don't even need to necessarily play magic to teach somebody that. No, that's all stuff you can teach while you're watching a show on them. Remember two times ago and when we were in Calgary and my cousin Jess was there watching us play magic. Yeah, and I was getting pummeled, but I was showing her like, Okay, I can do this lightning bolt,
this is a creature. This is how ideal damage to Brando, right, And I think that she probably got the gist of it just seeing cards. Now, Commander's a bad example. Probably probably Limited would be a better example, or Jumpstart would be a better example on how to kind of expose somebody like dip their baby toe inp But you could learn everything from Commander and then get a deck like this and probably be okay. You could probably learn
your stuff. And they know basically the principles of what things do. They just have to put it together to make it to do that. And so what I've attempted to do here is put something together that has enough depth to keep you interested. That is definitely a thing that I think gets overlooked. I'm gonna build my wife a cat deck, or I'm gonna I'm gonna build my girlfriend this sixty card limited deck that's only cards that have mermaids on them.
Yeah, Like that's sure, it's pretty to look at, but she's gonna get disinterested because she's getting rocked all the time, and and whatever mermaids siren from Frickin' Innstrug Limited is not gonna be a fun and interesting card. Yeah. I think this again, having played this deck a few times now. It's good and it can do the thing. Yes, it's a little bit linear in how it does the thing, and everybody can see it coming. But what it does it does well, and if it gets the chance
to do it, it's yeah, you can. You can take down games with this deck. Here's my final thought before you do the closing, uh podcasting business. Okay, okay, would I take this deck and give it to my wife if she's learning to play? My answer? No, okay, would you give it to her if you were going to sit next to her and teach her while she played? Still? No, still no,
still no. Not this a hundred okay? A cat dog deck with some of your stack building attacking matters cards one hundred percent Yeah, one hundred percent. I think that that's a healthy and good learning environment to teach players how to deploy their strategy. Linear attack matters get bonuses and incentives for attacking. That's good cards like Sylvan Library, Yeah, the other hard Yeah, cards like Smothering Time, Smothering Tithe or Carpet of Flowers. Also hard yeay,
hard cards, hard cards. Switch those in for other traditional easier to navigate or use ramp cards. Maybe maybe a cultivate that's a pretty good card. Sure, pretty good card. Other Savannah Alliance. It's a fine card. A little bit boring, but it's the theme. Don't have no boring cards in huro exchange boring in this Yeah, conversation for not overwhelming, Yes, because what's gonna happen? Oh, I got to do my silver and library and I'm at I'm at ten life and I need this card to win,
but I can't win. I gotta do all this math overwhelming. Yes, then you just lose, right because you're overwhelmed. So I think it's a great tool, and Commander can be a good tool if an advanced good teacher player is teaching a adult who is familiar with games how games work, and of course they're still handholding, but you can do it, and this deck I think could do it. Excellent. There you go, So what's your final thought of the day? Final thought of the day is, I hope
this works. If you have any suggestions after hearing it. You can either leave it on the deck list on architect which the link is in the description below, or even better, you can comment on this video. Yeah, let you let us know what you think. Look at that nation is contributing to the Greater Commander metaverse. Yeah. Can you imagine having another Brando running around because I just taught somebody from the ground up how to do it? Oh, make you imagine having two of me? Oh
man, it's gonna be Oh, it's gonna be good. Can you imagine brash taunters just bouncing off each other and then a little baby brash taunter and a diaper? Can you imagine having just hearing like you're sitting at again at a table with me, right me? You two randoms, we're sitting we're playing we're playing game right, All of a sudden from across room here,
brash doctor. Can you imagine that? Can you imagine being at Magic Con Chicago, at the other side of the commander area, Branda comes running. There's a freaking brash Taunter bath signal. Hey, oh that'd be so good. Brash Taunter not in the deck alas yeah, could have been? Could have been? You can beat them up with rin and SyRI and do some damage. Can It's very good.
