[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Come Follow Him Podcast. [SPEAKER_00]: This podcast is created by the Boise Nampa Institute of Religion for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. [SPEAKER_00]: Here, we hope to help young adults find relevant principles each week as they study the Assign Come Follow Me in Scripture Block as outlined by the Church. [SPEAKER_00]: This episode is simply two institutors talking about what they see in the Scriptures that might be relevant to your life.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is not intended to speak for the church or to definitively define doctrines or policies. [SPEAKER_00]: Any opinions shared here are just that. [SPEAKER_00]: Our opinions as we have learned to come follow him. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm your host, Matt Swanson. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's jump in. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, welcome back, everybody. [SPEAKER_00]: It's good to be with you again this week. [SPEAKER_00]: I am with my good friends, Mr. Catherine Clements, Mr. Clements, welcome back.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_00]: It's good to be back. [SPEAKER_00]: It's always fun to be here. [SPEAKER_00]: good to have you here. [SPEAKER_00]: We've been talking for a little while this morning about what we're going to do in this section. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a little bit different.
[SPEAKER_00]: Section seventy-seven to eighty and it's probably it's very interesting the conversation I think we're about to have but it's laid out a little differently than most sections of the doctrine of covenants and [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm kind of excited to jump into it. [SPEAKER_00]: Tell me before we do that, what's new in your life and what should the audience know about Sister Clement since last time you're on?
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see, if you're like we're back with the living, my husband had an open heart surgery situation and so it kind of worked through that. [SPEAKER_01]: One of those things in life, you don't know quite what's going to be around the corner, but it's been great. [SPEAKER_01]: We've had a lot of tender mercies and people that have just been so kind to those moments that you really do see the Lord's hand.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, have kids going all over for the summer going back and forth to college, some working, some trying to get through a little bit more school and just all those fun things, but the summer is going really fast. [SPEAKER_00]: So, no kitten. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm with you. [SPEAKER_00]: You helped us with our second daughter's wedding and we had all the things packed into the first month of summer and so it feels like a blur to me. [SPEAKER_00]: So, well, great.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, let's do this. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's just jump in. [SPEAKER_00]: Give us some context for how we get Section seventy-seven. [SPEAKER_00]: The meat of, I think today's discussion is going to be in seventy-seven. [SPEAKER_00]: Eight. [SPEAKER_00]: I may be a little bit in seventy-eight and then seventy-seven and ninety-eight are pretty short. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, so just jump a scene and tell us what we should know and and then let's let's start talking.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, with seventy seven this was that we were talking this is a little more unique than a lot of them and this follows more the question answer for in a whole of how he kind of even recorded it. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's a little bit different than others that we've gone into at in eighteen thirty when it was a March eight [SPEAKER_01]: He just met began the translation of the New Testament. [SPEAKER_01]: And so in some of his translations, he was working in the book of Revelation.
[SPEAKER_01]: And while he was doing that, and in preparing, he started to ask some questions of God and God started to answer those questions. [SPEAKER_01]: And once again, he decided that it would be most effective to record it that way. [SPEAKER_01]: His question answered the Lord gave. [SPEAKER_01]: So he really focuses on this revelation and explaining some of the revelation of the Saint John. [SPEAKER_01]: And as he starts to break it down, you kind of see, there's a lot of symbolism here.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's what he, that's another reason in his, the red, the papers, the Joseph Smith mentions that that would be the best way to record that to show some of this powerful symbolism how the Lord uses images, animals, objects to help us [SPEAKER_01]: learn about future events, current events, things that we can be looking for and looking for in the end. [SPEAKER_01]: So it kind of came to be that it begins with Revelation twelve.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so so if seven hours just offers this understanding of the first eleven chapters of the book is where it really comes down to. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's interesting to me because it kind of paints how profits receive revelation, which is in any different than you and I. I mean, it really is. [SPEAKER_00]: I have a question. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to ask my question and then I receive revelation and find an answer.
[SPEAKER_00]: The difference here maybe is that because of Joseph's unique calling and profit of the dispensation, he's maybe receiving very clear answers in very quick response. [SPEAKER_00]: to the questions he's asking and maybe a little bit more like one man speak it to another in by way of conversation or at least the spirit is coming quickly enough that he can ask a question or see an answer and they write it down.
[SPEAKER_00]: You and I think that might be a little bit different in the way that we receive answers. [SPEAKER_00]: I think there's most often for me at least there's a period of study that I'm required to do before the spirit confirms even something I'm learning that I'm not reading which happens occasionally.
[SPEAKER_00]: You had shared something before we hit record about just the concept of receiving revelation and that receiving revelation this way and in the is maybe not the the typical way there's I think there's a quote you'd read or something about that that idea that that we often want this kind of revelation given to us the way that Joseph's showing us that it can be received [SPEAKER_00]: President Nelson's invitation to receive revelation.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think we want it this way so often that I think we get frustrated when we don't get it like that. [SPEAKER_00]: Is that something you've got right there? [SPEAKER_00]: You could share with us? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so in his, and he's referring to this example, which is interesting that he's referring to some of these, he calls a mysteries of God, you know, that we hear about these beasts and different things.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he mentions that [SPEAKER_01]: Knowing that the interpretation of every detail of mysterious visions is not paramount in our study of the Scriptures. [SPEAKER_01]: The mysteries of the prophets, figurative language are not the same as the mysteries of God, which are given to the person who repented and exercised faith and bringeth forth good works and prayeth continually without ceasing. [SPEAKER_01]: That's in reference to Alma, twenty-six, twenty-two of that true thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Then he goes on to explain by disdemeistifying the book of Revelation, the prophet removed potential distractions from the way to your matters of the gospel of Jesus Christ. [SPEAKER_01]: Of course, John's vision gives us important information about the letter days. [SPEAKER_01]: The apostasy and restoration, the second coming of Jesus Christ, is triumph over the devil, his millennial reign, and the resurrection and final judgment.
[SPEAKER_01]: These things can help us as we strive to find the truth and follow Lord's will. [SPEAKER_01]: But if we get hung up on a particular interpretation of a figure described in that vision, we may neglect the things that matter most. [SPEAKER_01]: And so then we just kind of just share with, as we study the book of Revelation and take advantage of the wonderful light shed on it through the prophet Joseph Smith, we can see where we stand in the grand scope of the world history.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I've got to dealing with his children. [SPEAKER_01]: Knowing this, we can see the importance of our personal testimony Jesus Christ and of participating fully in his work of the latter days. [SPEAKER_01]: Then we can overcome the world and with Christ inherit all things from the Father.
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's just a powerful reminder how it is kind of cool, you know, to if we could dive in and really investigate and find some of those answers, but are we losing what is most important and why we've been given some of those things? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I appreciate that. [SPEAKER_00]: What a great quote and great way of thinking before we dive into this section.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes I think we miss the message when we look for the interpretation and we try to find a unique way of viewing things. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's most gospel doctrine classes. [SPEAKER_00]: But ultimately, one of the other things I would say is I think we miss the opportunity to search it out in the scriptures when we just think that the spirit is going to give me some new revelatory experience with that thing that I don't fully understand.
[SPEAKER_00]: When the reality is, as most things have been explained enough in the scriptures that if you dig through and you actually do some study and research, [SPEAKER_00]: The Lord has given a whole lot more than maybe what He gives in one verse about most topics. [SPEAKER_00]: So can we jump into verse one and give you an example of that? [SPEAKER_00]: So verse one doesn't even have a one in front of it. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just the question.
[SPEAKER_00]: What is the sea of glass spoken of by John for chapter in the six verse of Revelation? [SPEAKER_00]: And then the answer is it is the earth and it sanctified immortal in eternal state.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well okay so in my mind that creates a sea of glass and the earth is made into a sea of glass and I could get like we've been talking really kind of wunky about what that means and and create my own vision of that and I could I could you know develop my own philosophies [SPEAKER_00]: about what that might mean and my own interpretation of it, or I could continue to dig into the scriptures and find where else it's talked about the earth and its celestial state.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you jump to section one, thirty of the doctrine and covenants, verse six, the angels do not reside on a planet like this earth, but they reside on the presence of God on a globe like a sea of glass, and fire where all things for their glory are manifest past present in the future and are continually before the Lord. [SPEAKER_00]: What do we learn? [SPEAKER_00]: We learn that this earth will be like a sea of glass.
[SPEAKER_00]: We learn that angels reside with God on a planet that's like a sea of glass where all things past present future are given to him. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so then I'm getting a little bit deeper understanding of what a sea of glass earth might be for. [SPEAKER_00]: But then if I keep reading, the place where God resides is a great Yerman Thumma. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so now I've learned that the sea of glass that can show things all past present in future is like a great Yerman Thumma.
[SPEAKER_00]: And in the next verse, verse nine, this earth, and it's sanctified in immortal state. [SPEAKER_00]: So where you and I live, will be made like a crystal and will be a Yerman Thumma to the inhabitants who dwell there on. [SPEAKER_00]: whereby all things pertaining to an inferior kingdom are all kingdoms of the lore order will be manifest to those who dwell on it. [SPEAKER_00]: And this earth will be Christ.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't have to often times I don't have to come up with my own conclusions. [SPEAKER_00]: I just have to dig around a bit more and see what else has been said to understand better. [SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of what you and I did before we hit record. [SPEAKER_00]: We read the answer Joseph gave from the revelation he received.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then we went farther and found other prophetic comments and statements about that same topic to see what else has been said, what else we can know as opposed to saying, well, I know everything and so now any more information I'm going to get's going to come from God directly through the spirit. [SPEAKER_00]: I think we we put a lot on God and we put very little on ourselves when we do it that way.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, and God is talking to all of his children, university through all time. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's really powerful. [SPEAKER_01]: We were talking just before we started about. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't realize with this chapter and some other ones coming up. [SPEAKER_01]: God uses animals, objects, a lot because he wants his children to understand. [SPEAKER_01]: And there are certain things like a rock.
[SPEAKER_01]: We may have different rocks here than on the other side of the world because of pressures, atmosphere, seasons, temperatures, but we understand what a rock is. [SPEAKER_01]: And what a powerful truth of our loving Heavenly Father that wants to speak to all of his children through all of time. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think we miss opportunities for the Lord to unfold some of those messages for us personally, for our families, for our area, for our generation.
[SPEAKER_01]: whatever that may be when we want to take it so literal or we want it to mean something particular. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we spend a lot of time trying to figure out why the beast has seven eyes and fourteen horns or whatever, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And the reality is, we understand beast, we understand eyes, we understand horns. [SPEAKER_00]: The concepts are given to us to understand what God's trying to teach us.
[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe there maybe there is, but maybe there isn't a whole lot more intended than the principle being taught directly, right? [SPEAKER_00]: We don't need to dig in so much sometimes. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, and two, these profits saw us. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, a lot of the things recorded in Scripture were for our day. [SPEAKER_01]: A lot of those people, when Scripture was recorded, was not read by their people. [SPEAKER_01]: It was recorded for our day.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's interesting that I mentioned this to students all the time. [SPEAKER_01]: He's, you know, awesome Nephi saw, you know, [SPEAKER_01]: Matt looking at some rock, you know, and staring at it and touching it and getting information out of this rock, you know, how can they define what that is? [SPEAKER_01]: And so they use something that they're familiar.
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's also something that sometimes a skill that we can use to just allow the spirit to open up some of those simpler messages. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, just what might they be trying to show me? [SPEAKER_01]: What would have seven eyes, you know, what would, what would be silver and have wings, you know, and airplanes? [SPEAKER_01]: You know, they work quite understanding of what that was that would bring missionaries to all.
[SPEAKER_00]: ends of the earth, you know, John describes giant roaring locusts that men wrote upon. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, it sounds a whole lot like a helicopter, you know, and, but you're right, what would you have described it as other than a locust, somehow understood, but that were massive that we could write on, right? [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yeah, they use what they know. [SPEAKER_00]: So, interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: What an interesting story.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, and when we go into scripture, this is something, it's very interesting.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was talking to another colleague the other day [SPEAKER_01]: about kind of the the Lord's restoration of the gospel at the time it did and that God had to put all those truths back together again and that it took time but also was you know God really had to instruct a lot of you would you need to do this here's a B and C to kind of put it back together and over time now that it's been restored and it's still being restored but
[SPEAKER_01]: Now we have these art children's age, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: And these young incredible young adults, and children that they are growing up in a different culture, a different tradition, a different, our world can change, but they're growing up with these truths that, for example, the strength of youth is a perfect example, how the Lord has kind of changed, it's not, okay, you will need to do this, then you do this, you don't do this to hear some principles that you know that you've been taught from your birth.
[SPEAKER_01]: And with me, you can have that confidence to know how to move forward. [SPEAKER_01]: And sometimes I think our generation, at least, I'm speaking, open us all in one. [SPEAKER_01]: I think we tend to know it's got to be like this. [SPEAKER_01]: It's got to be like this because we're, we were at the tail end of that. [SPEAKER_01]: It really has to be put back together.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And so I think if you if you back up even one generation farther, I have in my office the for strength of the youth that my mother was given where she was told to pleat the front of her jeans in the for strength of youth that she was always to go outside wearing makeup and be clean and put together for the day that her hair should be in order and [SPEAKER_00]: So we back up even farther and what do we have?
[SPEAKER_00]: We have a whole lot more love Moses like living where the plan is given to us and then we're given a whole bunch of very specific instructions until we understand principle based living and then the instructions kind of go away the six hundred and thirteen laws go away and we get not just be like Christ and that's what Christ did right? [SPEAKER_00]: He came and did it with love Moses and higher and holier way of living.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I think if we go back even on the first strength of youth and we look at other Generations instruction we can see a clear delineation between Hey, this is how this should be done and this is how this should be done To our day now where it's like hey, this is the principle and now like you've said go go figure that out you understand the principle So what's right and what's wrong?
[SPEAKER_01]: You know for you to mention it that way even I thought of Joseph Smith [SPEAKER_01]: Again, here, that he was like, okay, what I have, I'm going to try and filter through this. [SPEAKER_01]: I find this scripture in the Bible that tells me God will answer anything if I come to them. [SPEAKER_01]: And he pretty much had decided, remind me, which was it the Presbyterian or which one did he pretty much think that God was going to tell him was the right church?
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was the method of sect that he had [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so I mean, here he is and he kind of had sorted it through and he assumed it was going to probably be that or the other. [SPEAKER_01]: Yep. [SPEAKER_01]: And if you remember in his account, never had he even considered that God was going to say none of that. [SPEAKER_00]: They were all wrong together.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And so I think that's also a possible important thing to remember when we are reading God's scripture, when we're trying to find these answers, when we're walking with him, we leave [SPEAKER_01]: open the door for the Lord to help us see something new or different that we may not have seen before because of our experience because we don't know what we think we know and what he can take us. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's great. [SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, if we jump back into the scriptures here, look, let's look at verse two and I think we can kind of tie everything we've been talking about together here with animals with how we read scripture, this kind of scripture especially. [SPEAKER_00]: So forgive me for just a minute. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to read a little bit here because I think it'll, we can, we can back up and discuss what we've kind of proved maybe what we've discussed already.
[SPEAKER_00]: Verse two, what do we to understand by the four beasts spoken of in the same verse? [SPEAKER_00]: The answer, they are figurative expressions used by John the Revelator. [SPEAKER_00]: So again, we're talking about four B. So then he goes on in describing heaven, the paradise of God. [SPEAKER_00]: So there's two heaven, the paradise of God. [SPEAKER_00]: That's one, the happiness of man and of B. That's two, the creeping things and fouls of the air.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the same as his second one. [SPEAKER_00]: That which is spiritual being and likeness of that which is temporal and that which is temporal being and lightness of that which is spiritual. [SPEAKER_00]: The spirit of man and likeness of the person as also the spirit of the beast and every other creature which God has created. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so we could take that and we could just dive into any individual phrase in there and come up with our own understanding of that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Or we could keep reading, are the four beast limited individual beasts or do they represent classes or orders? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, the answer they are limited to four in individual beasts, which were shown to John, to represent the glory of the classes of beings in their distant order or spirit of creation in the enjoyment of the eternal Felicity or joy. [SPEAKER_00]: So Joseph doesn't get wrapped up in it.
[SPEAKER_00]: He just says, okay, there's four, and they represent [SPEAKER_00]: The heavens, man, animals, beasts, you know, those spirit and things spiritual, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So he defined, he says, okay, there's four things. [SPEAKER_00]: Are we supposed to understand them as just individual beasts or are they representing the whole of all animalhood, right? [SPEAKER_00]: The all of man, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: And God says, yeah, they're representing all of man and all of beast and all of the heavens and all things spiritual, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And I think when we do that, when we're willing to say, okay, what's the question? [SPEAKER_00]: What's the answer given? [SPEAKER_00]: And can I stay at that surface level and continue on after comprehending what I just read?
[SPEAKER_00]: Because if I can do that, then I'm probably going to understand the next thing a little better anyway, right? [SPEAKER_00]: But we get lost in what does that mean? [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go define that word and that paragraph and and we miss the whole message, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, in fact, when you read it, if you look in the footnote of figurative, so A, which would be three, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: But even to a symbolism, you know, you got to remember that this is symbolizing just to help you kind of help him kind of guide you through this. [SPEAKER_01]: So I love, I do appreciate this chapter once again that Joseph Smith is helping us see how we can sort of when we have finding answers to our gospel questions. [SPEAKER_01]: you know, allowing the Savior to kind of guide us and to work through this.
[SPEAKER_01]: But instead of like think of all of the ways the Lord does speak to us, additional scripture, prophets, apostles, our parents, our colleagues, our friends, situations in our lives. [SPEAKER_01]: And so I really like that too that what is this symbolizing and he just simply I love that you mentioned that. [SPEAKER_01]: We just kind of look through here that will set us up for even more. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's just why it works, isn't it?
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's interesting we talked before we hit record about how we could go through every one of these questions and answers and get really detailed about it and spend a lot of time down in the weeds. [SPEAKER_00]: But I think we kind of landed on a couple of different things that we wanted to touch on and let the reader and audience kind of go ahead and do their own research on some other things in here.
[SPEAKER_00]: So let's take a little bit of time and talk about the beasts that are being described here. [SPEAKER_00]: We've done a little bit of research on what we think those beasts might represent. [SPEAKER_00]: So start a saw in that conversation and what should we know about the beasts?
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I love, like you mentioned, some of these key things, if you just stay here or you're right in your reading, there's four, so it kind of represents all, like you said, all of the animal life. [SPEAKER_01]: Mortals, humans, any animal, anything that has life, and where they're talking about the spirit, and then they talk about this glory. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, if we keep going, I love in verse four, what are we to understand by the eyes and the wings?
[SPEAKER_01]: which the beast have. [SPEAKER_01]: So once again remembering that symbolism, again very simply, their eyes are the representation of light and knowledge. [SPEAKER_01]: That is their full of knowledge and their wings are represented representation of power to move to act. [SPEAKER_01]: And thinking about God's plan of salvation, right? [SPEAKER_01]: And what these animals are, what all of the creations are. [SPEAKER_01]: But what is this light?
[SPEAKER_01]: What's the knowledge where they're getting it from and the power to move and to act this agency? [SPEAKER_01]: And so, in fact, do you want to share one of the things you looked up some of the things about the beasts in there? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's interesting because what we're talking about these beasts is there's four of them.
[SPEAKER_00]: One represents heavenly things, one represents man, one represents the fouls in the beasts, on the earth, the creeping things, your pet, my pet, another, and represents this spiritual world. [SPEAKER_00]: And so when we get talking about this, verse, [SPEAKER_00]: for A, the eyes represent the knowledge that those four beasts have. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, okay, so you and I make sense what our knowledge comes from. [SPEAKER_00]: It comes from our spirit.
[SPEAKER_00]: It comes from the light of Christ. [SPEAKER_00]: It comes from, you know, the pre-existence. [SPEAKER_00]: And then you start thinking about animals. [SPEAKER_00]: Then the question arises, well, what about their light and knowledge? [SPEAKER_00]: Where does that come from? [SPEAKER_00]: And what happens to animals after they die? [SPEAKER_00]: And what's the plan for them moving forward, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think there's just some prophetic quotes that I think will help us understand where they came from and where they're going. [SPEAKER_01]: So let's get a big question. [SPEAKER_01]: Matt, have you ever had students? [SPEAKER_01]: I had somebody a couple of weeks ago in class in a parable's class. [SPEAKER_01]: What about pets? [SPEAKER_01]: There's such a part of our life, right? [SPEAKER_01]: And they were created for us.
[SPEAKER_01]: We know that in, you know, scripture as well that he testifies the image for us. [SPEAKER_01]: So if you ever had that question come up, what about my class? [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, seven or eight comes up all the time. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's a great, it's a great question. [SPEAKER_00]: So in relation to that question, prophets have spoken quite a bit about it.
[SPEAKER_00]: In October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October of the year, in October
[SPEAKER_00]: Orson Whitney said the affirmative of the question due animals have souls is amply sustained by divine revelation. [SPEAKER_00]: He then quotes Joseph. [SPEAKER_00]: He says Joseph Smith so believed or he would not have said concerning his favorite horse when it died that he expected to have it in the eternities. [SPEAKER_00]: So there's plenty of [SPEAKER_00]: Scriptural prophetic council and direction on that we will see animals in the next life.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, if we back up, eternally, and we look backwards, what does that mean about animals? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, animals were created spiritually before they were created temporarily just like you and I were. [SPEAKER_00]: And my little dog Coco probably existed in the pre-existence as the little dog Coco, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And in the next life, we'll be resurrected as such.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Joseph suggests he gets to have his horseback, so maybe I get to have all my pets back, too. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll find what that be. [SPEAKER_00]: Or crazy house, I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: You get them all at one time. [SPEAKER_01]: No, well, for Joseph to mention their glory. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't understand it. [SPEAKER_01]: They have a difference set of laws. [SPEAKER_01]: Then we do because they're animals. [SPEAKER_01]: in a different form, right, than we are.
[SPEAKER_01]: But that's pretty profound, too, that they'll have that happiness. [SPEAKER_01]: Like we have, you know? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's, it's just important to recognize that all things are created and have a class. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's one of the things that I think is important here is they're going to be resurrected to their, to their order and to their class. [SPEAKER_00]: Renjuvenated Volkswagen Beetle is not restored to a house.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's created maybe as the best Volkswagen Beetle can be, but not changed into a completely different thing. [SPEAKER_00]: The spirit matter that created that thing will always and has always existed in that order. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that, I think it's just interesting when we get down a little bit into the weeds and we start thinking about what's being said here, we can learn some things that are maybe comforting to some of us, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it makes us see the life of animals a little different, too, right? [SPEAKER_00]: It helps us to recognize, uh, Deuteronomy, Proverbs, there's some things that Proverbs says that a righteous man in regard to the life of his beast, right? [SPEAKER_00]: That we're aware of the animal's life.
[SPEAKER_00]: And as a reflection of Moses, the idea of utterly draining and musling their animals was like not a thing that they were supposed to do, Deuteronomy's chapter twenty-two talks about how you're supposed to give your animals some freedom and let them be animals. [SPEAKER_00]: So we learned about the sanctity of the spirit of even an animal and helps us understand maybe it changes our perspectives of hunting a little bit and of killing animals that obviously they're for our use.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's nothing wrong with that but but maybe we do it a little less for sport a little more frequently for sustenance and our need but you know it's interesting. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk about this in a later [SPEAKER_01]: on section of Dr. and Cummins. [SPEAKER_01]: But if you remember, often the Lord reminds us we're stewards. [SPEAKER_01]: And if you think of what a steward is, a steward is somebody who's taking care of something for someone else, they own it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you're left to care for it until they need it back, or to improve it whatever for them. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's interesting, like you said, yes, they're made for our benefit, too, as part of their role in this existence. [SPEAKER_01]: But our stewardship is to be wise with how we use, like you said with the, you know, it is okay to hunt and to be able to eat.
[SPEAKER_01]: And because that's what they were creating for, but also to be responsible and that we use them appropriately. [SPEAKER_01]: And we treat them appropriately like you said. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's important to become more like our Heavenly Father. [SPEAKER_01]: It's part of that stewardship that is helping us become like him. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's what I like that.
[SPEAKER_00]: So we take that concept about the spirits of animals, the classes of these beings, ourselves included in that. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think kind of tying into that is verse eight, where we're talking about angels. [SPEAKER_00]: What do we to understand by the four angels spoken of in the seventh chapter in first verse revelation? [SPEAKER_00]: Here's the answer given.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're to understand that they are four angels sent forth from God to whom has given power over the four parts of the earth to save life and to destroy. [SPEAKER_00]: These are they who have the everlasting gospel to commit to every nation, Kindred, tongue and people, having power to shut up the heavens, to seal up unto life or to cast down to the regions of darkness.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, as we, as we study this little bit together before we hit record, we don't really know who those angels are. [SPEAKER_00]: They're not necessarily named, but we know a little bit about what they've done, what angels have done that have been given stewardship over the earth.
[SPEAKER_00]: Whether this is a reference to Elias and Elijah, and those that came to restore keys and ceiling power, there may be some reference to that in here, or to speaking specifically about the destroying angels that have been loosed on the earth to wrap up the earth's final days. [SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a lot we could take from this, right? [SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot we could go in and study here.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, like we were talking about before, when it talks about the different four of them, [SPEAKER_01]: They have these roles, the invention of, they bring the gospel to all the ends of the earth. [SPEAKER_01]: Like that's one of their responsibilities to be in charge of that. [SPEAKER_01]: They're the ones that began that, you know, and that mission of all those that have that call to go out and preach the gospel and share.
[SPEAKER_01]: The power to shut up the heavens, but also to open them, right, to seal up into life or to cast [SPEAKER_01]: to the regions of darkness, like they are here for special assignments. [SPEAKER_01]: And we were reading before, I believe it was Joseph Filling Smith, how he mentioned, yes, these angels have specific roles, but all of God's disciples have assignments within, you know, this assignment of these angels.
[SPEAKER_01]: So just because they are that specific, we also have been asked to help them, you know? [SPEAKER_01]: lead the missionary work can help us find the Savior and prepare for him to come. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's great. [SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a couple of other things that are just interesting from the Institute student manual about these angels in particular.
[SPEAKER_00]: When you're studying the Book of Revelation chapter seven, it talks about the number four often suggesting a geographical fullness so that the whole earth is covered by four angels. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's maybe an important component. [SPEAKER_00]: The angels of destruction, I think is what we're speaking about directly here. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's also referenced here in the student manual.
[SPEAKER_00]: It says that President Wilford taught that God has held the angels of destruction for many years. [SPEAKER_00]: Less they should reap down the wheat with the tears, but I want to tell you now that those angels have left the portals of heaven. [SPEAKER_00]: and are hovering over the earth waiting to pour out the judgments. [SPEAKER_00]: And from this very day, that shall be poured out. [SPEAKER_00]: Calamities and troubles are increasing in the earth.
[SPEAKER_00]: And there is meaning to these things. [SPEAKER_00]: Remember this and reflect upon these matters. [SPEAKER_00]: If you do your duty and I do my duty, we'll have protection and shall pass with the affliction and peace and safety. [SPEAKER_00]: That was in the eighteen ninety-four that Wilford Woodruff said that. [SPEAKER_00]: And you know, fast forward, twenty years and we're into World War I. We have all the conflicts that led up to that. [SPEAKER_00]: We've got the plague.
[SPEAKER_00]: We've got, we've got a World War II with another couple of years, ten, twenty years, fifteen years. [SPEAKER_00]: By the end of the World War I, we've got all the wars that have happened since then. [SPEAKER_00]: The world is just in commotion, and I think maybe as a proof of a prophetic telling of the losing of these angels of destruction that are wrapping up the final days. [SPEAKER_00]: It's an interesting, definitely an interesting correlation.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think something else I think is interesting is we often think of things like the angels being loose and the earth being in calamity [SPEAKER_00]: as something that's going to happen in our future, right? [SPEAKER_00]: We look forward and we say, oh man, that's going to be bad. [SPEAKER_00]: How will I be protected? [SPEAKER_00]: And we worry about whether we're going to die in that day.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the reality is that this is true if what Wilford Woodruff has suggested that we are living in the day when they are reaping the earth, right, where they are knocking the separating the wheat and the tears out. [SPEAKER_00]: and somehow we're surviving it through faithful and righteous living. [SPEAKER_00]: But I think we err when we look forward thinking that all the things in the scriptures are in our future, right, that none of them have happened.
[SPEAKER_01]: Two of them in particular that they reference in the student manuals, which I'm sure you're all listeners here, which you've mentioned several times, is a great resource to go to any of the less [SPEAKER_01]: to look up context context and kind of break some of that down. [SPEAKER_01]: But they mentioned the Jewish nation. [SPEAKER_01]: So this is in fifteen A. It mentions they are two prophets that are raised up to the Jewish nation in the last days.
[SPEAKER_01]: So this Jewish nation that it's not, it wasn't an existent until, you know, the letter days. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's one of them. [SPEAKER_01]: And the mission, the mission that they're gathering the tribes in, in fourteen A. This references missionary work. [SPEAKER_01]: That is started. [SPEAKER_01]: It's going on. [SPEAKER_01]: We have, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's just an influx of missionaries over the last several even five or six years because this is this is the time. [SPEAKER_01]: So these are currently being fulfilled. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we are those are at least two of the examples that was mentioned in the manual that we do see. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And again, if we think everything is in our future, we're kind of missing the point, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: It was the nation state of Israel was organized and the Jewish people were given a home back in nineteen forty eight. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's the end of the world war two, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And when Joseph wrote this, when this was coming out, speaking of the state of Israel or the [SPEAKER_00]: The home of the Jews, that was not a thing. [SPEAKER_00]: They didn't have that. [SPEAKER_00]: It was stayed. [SPEAKER_00]: I've been scattered.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Great. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So again, I think I think sometimes we air when we think, oh, this is this is going to be so bad. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's in our future and I'm not looking forward to it. [SPEAKER_00]: You're living in the middle of it, right? [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, [SPEAKER_00]: Well, did all the profits miss the Holocaust?
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, read the scriptures and look for the Holocaust and you'll find it when it talks about how the Jews will be slaughtered in the last day. [SPEAKER_00]: I think you and I sometimes will read that and think, oh man, they're going to have to go through something again. [SPEAKER_00]: They've been through so much already. [SPEAKER_00]: And as if profits missed that millions of Jews were going to be killed in the World War II. [SPEAKER_00]: No, it happened.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's part of the wrapping up scenes of the final days. [SPEAKER_00]: and not that they're done, not that that's over, it could still continue and very well may, but but we aren't, it isn't all in our future. [SPEAKER_00]: It isn't all coming to us. [SPEAKER_00]: It's some of it we're living in the middle of it. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, there's a really powerful article that's very helpful on the gospel library. [SPEAKER_01]: It's really, you can find it on the church news website.
[SPEAKER_01]: It kind of helps you gauge how to see, recognize, and interpret Revelation. [SPEAKER_01]: And in that article, it mentions, often the Savior has given revelation to His disciples over time and God has done this as well that it can be now, but it also can relate to the future. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's powerful for His disciples to be able to see that in action. [SPEAKER_01]: That's why we have revelation and signs and wonder so that we can see Him and know that He is working.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, throughout time, we have [SPEAKER_01]: in all those revelations and signs and wonders of that the temple was going to be destroyed. [SPEAKER_01]: And then if you read in read that and kind of dive into that, it can also be for future things as well. [SPEAKER_01]: So he doesn't always have it just one event, number he's talking universally to his children, but it is one of those opportunities to be able to see his hand and to give the faithful [SPEAKER_01]: Peace.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: He is doing his work. [SPEAKER_00]: And it does that, I think. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think just thinking cursory of the Book of Mormon when when laminar laminal could not conceive of the idea of Jerusalem falling. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that massive city, who's going to come in and take that over. [SPEAKER_00]: And yet it does within eleven years of them leaving Jerusalem, we know that historically it fell.
[SPEAKER_00]: The same thing held true and Christ lived there. [SPEAKER_00]: That the people were like, nobody's coming to take Jerusalem. [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to be fine. [SPEAKER_00]: Even though they were under Roman rule, I mean, how ridiculous is that? [SPEAKER_00]: That they couldn't possibly be taken over. [SPEAKER_00]: And yet it happens, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Sixty-seven years later, Troy comes in and completely decimates the Jewish people.
[SPEAKER_00]: that we see it in Scripture prophesied, isn't just to foretell future events. [SPEAKER_00]: It's for us to see God's hand in our life, for us to know that God is real for us. [SPEAKER_00]: Everything He does is to help us come unto Him, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And even prophesying of those types of things are supposed to humble us and be like, oh man, somebody knew this before I knew this.
[SPEAKER_00]: Before it actually happened, that means somebody speaking to a higher power than me. [SPEAKER_00]: Interesting, interesting, interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: One of the other ones I'll just jump to really quickly and we can go back if there's some of them skipping here. [SPEAKER_00]: Some of them are like super ambiguous, like verse thirteen. [SPEAKER_00]: One of the things to be accomplished, which are written in the ninth chapter of Revelation.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you probably need to go to the ninth chapter of Revelation to understand what we're even asking the question about, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And maybe it speaks to Joseph's, you know, what he's doing at the time, trying to translate and write this for clarity and correction. [SPEAKER_00]: So if we're going to write chapter of Revelation, it says, in the heading, John also sees the wars and plagues poured out during the seventh seal and before the Lord comes.
[SPEAKER_00]: So then the answer given is they are to be accomplished after the opening of the seventh seal before the coming of Christ. [SPEAKER_00]: It's exactly what it says it is. [SPEAKER_00]: That's exactly what we should see it to be. [SPEAKER_00]: And it makes me wonder if that heading was added to section, or chapter nine of the book of Revelation, because of this Revelation in section thirteen.
[SPEAKER_00]: And now we can read it with a cursor understanding of what I'm reading without having to glean it out of there without having to see that heading, right? [SPEAKER_00]: I think that heading gives us a lot of information about what I'm about to read.
[SPEAKER_01]: So sometimes it's not it's not as explanatory as I want it to be but it does give me a pathway to walk down right well and with talking of a path to walk down if we go back this is one that we wanted to bring it as well in verse verses eleven q and a he references this the sealed high crease in this yeah one hundred and forty four thousand
[SPEAKER_01]: Now we know some of the religions in the world, they see this as, that's all that there's going to be the righteous that we're left, right? [SPEAKER_01]: This is the total amount and it's awesome that he references the sealed high priests. [SPEAKER_01]: It's those that have a specific calling at the time to create that order for God and his gospel and his kingdom, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: And so, if anything in our, in our world, [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, if we go just let's go to church first, but everything happened to be at order. [SPEAKER_01]: Not everybody can be in charge all the time. [SPEAKER_01]: And so the Lord has this order so that he can reach all of his children so that he can make those things happen. [SPEAKER_01]: And a hospital, you know, somebody has to be in charge of the hospital. [SPEAKER_01]: It has to be somebody that's in charge of the nurses.
[SPEAKER_01]: There has to be somebody that helps train the nurses at times. [SPEAKER_01]: Now they're going to have different jobs and at different times do different things in their career. [SPEAKER_01]: But that makes us more efficient. [SPEAKER_01]: That helps us [SPEAKER_01]: So that's really interesting on this. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it is. [SPEAKER_00]: It is. [SPEAKER_00]: There's some very specific things about this, a hundred and forty-four thousand.
[SPEAKER_00]: As you've said, there are others of other faiths who believe that's all that will be saved. [SPEAKER_00]: One of the things I think is important is to understand that that number is maybe not as literal as we want it to be, or sometimes we think it might be. [SPEAKER_00]: Richard Draper said, the number of those sealed states this year is a hundred and forty-four thousand. [SPEAKER_00]: The number need not be taken literally.
[SPEAKER_00]: The doctrine of covenant states that those who are sealed are high priests are dead under the holy order of God to administer the everlasting gospel for they are they who are ordained out of every nation, kindred, tongue in people, [SPEAKER_00]: by the angels to whom is given power over the nations of the earth. [SPEAKER_00]: Note that the Scripture does not specify a number.
[SPEAKER_00]: Instead, it notes that the group is composed of hyprists who have special calling to administer the everlasting gospel. [SPEAKER_00]: Joseph Smith associated them with the temple, the symbolic meaning of the number of supports. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm reading this from [SPEAKER_00]: LDS source. [SPEAKER_00]: LDS scriptures teachings says the symbolic meaning of the number supports the association. [SPEAKER_00]: Twelve represents the priesthood.
[SPEAKER_00]: Biblical people squared a number to amplify its symbolic meaning thus a hundred and forty-four suggests a fullness of priesthood authority. [SPEAKER_00]: But John is not satisfied with that. [SPEAKER_00]: He gives the image of superlative quality by multiplying a thousand. [SPEAKER_00]: representing completeness.
[SPEAKER_00]: In this way he shows the strength and breath of the priest in a louder days, and this dispensation that is, the dispensation of the fullness of times during this period, that complete priesthood authority will operate. [SPEAKER_00]: It is a little wonder that as the world spurns this authority, it will be condemned.
[SPEAKER_00]: The idea that it's only a hundred and forty-four thousand when we look at how scripture was written often times numbers like seven like twelve have symbolic meaning twelve representing the twelve tribes of Israel if every tribe of Israel is given twelve people well that's a representation of the fullness of that tribe of Israel receiving that that [SPEAKER_00]: fullness, then magnifying it times a thousand, and we get a even fuller, complete, more powerful influence.
[SPEAKER_00]: So is the number of a hundred and forty-four thousand something that I'm to take literally? [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think so. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's maybe more figurative in representing the way that scriptures were written when using numbers. [SPEAKER_01]: When it comes to, especially this verse and talking about these, to always remember what the difference between priesthood authority and priesthood power.
[SPEAKER_01]: Restored power is God's power that any of us can have access to if we do what he is asking so that we can access that before he once again is special assignments or a specific assignment at a certain space in time that God has asked you or someone else to be able to [SPEAKER_01]: execute what he needs you to do so that they can access that power of God. [SPEAKER_01]: That's another way I think we sometimes get caught up on that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Even the, you know, the seal or the sustained or the call or the ordained, that doesn't mean that there are any different or better than anyone else. [SPEAKER_01]: It just means at that space and time, God needs them to stand up in a certain way to lead for Him. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, so I think that's a really cool to remember. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like with right now, I think of all the different areas in the world. [SPEAKER_01]: Right?
[SPEAKER_01]: We have area authorities that are over chunks of the world so that we can more, and we're going to talk briefly in a moment about the storehouse, how God wanted it set up so that we can be organized to be able to take care of his sheep. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's his teaching, that's his way. [SPEAKER_01]: And so all of the areas of the world, we have, of course, the prophet and the general authorities, right? [SPEAKER_01]: We have the area authorities.
[SPEAKER_01]: We have [SPEAKER_01]: Those other areas we have stakes, we have bishops and their words so that it's an organized [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm banned here, but once again, it's so that everyone can have access to go its power, not control it or own it, you know? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that's really cool. [SPEAKER_00]: One of the things I used to do in my seminary classes, we would pull up the ward maps in our area.
[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, we'd look at where the regional and boundary maps are in our area. [SPEAKER_00]: And then I would zoom out because the church has a really cool interactive map where you can zoom out and you can see where the ward's what boundaries the ward covers. [SPEAKER_00]: And a bishop obviously assigned to minister over the members of the church in that ward within that regional boundary.
[SPEAKER_00]: But as also through the Bishop's storehouse, through other resources of the church, really assigned to care for everyone living within the boundaries, members are not. [SPEAKER_00]: So when we zoom out and we look at the whole of the United States, there isn't a single inch of the country that isn't covered by some bishop that has a stewardship over that area.
[SPEAKER_00]: zoom out even farther and there is an inch of the entire world even places a church isn't in that isn't assigned to someone right the Japan China places that places that don't have the fullness of the gospel in very specific regions there are [SPEAKER_00]: boundaries that go over those regions.
[SPEAKER_00]: And if there's a need within that and the local authorities will allow it, that priesthood leader is assigned to go into care or at least to send care and help for those in need within their boundary. [SPEAKER_00]: So that idea that the priesthood authority to manage and direct their affairs of the church is given to a hundred and forty-four thousand or whatever it is. [SPEAKER_00]: the fullness and that the entire earth is covered. [SPEAKER_00]: I think is really the message here.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's all point, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's get it. [SPEAKER_00]: Very good. [SPEAKER_01]: I love that he has for all of this. [SPEAKER_00]: It really does. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm so grateful for it. [SPEAKER_00]: And again, there's a lot in this section that we're not really covering. [SPEAKER_00]: There's questions that, again, I hope you would go and spend some time, like, like, fourteen.
[SPEAKER_00]: What do we to understand by the little book, which was eaten by John? [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, go study that. [SPEAKER_00]: It might be kind of interesting to find out why John ate a book. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: But for our purposes today, we'll just kind of leave it there and let it sit unless there's anything else there you want to touch on. [SPEAKER_00]: for feminists.
[SPEAKER_01]: That really rolls in nicely into seventy eight of the Lord covering and taking care and reaching all of his children because this, you know, begins this revelation that Joseph Smith received from God of, okay, it's time to create a storehouse.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, so that we can set this up once again organized so that we can not just take care of spiritual things but also temporal things so that we can have what we need so that we can pay attention and do those spiritual things. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, it's great. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think he also gives some very specific purposes for this, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Verse four says, forgive me for jumping ahead.
[SPEAKER_00]: Verse four says, for a permanent everlasting establishment and order unto my church to advance the cause which he have espoused to the salvation of men and to glory to the glory of your father who is in heaven. [SPEAKER_00]: That you may be equal in bonds of heavenly things, yay, and earthly things also. [SPEAKER_00]: for the obtaining them heavily things. [SPEAKER_00]: So the purposes are not just to feed you, but to help us feel more equal.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they're attempting to live a love consecration at this time. [SPEAKER_00]: There is a need financially for some, especially within the food world. [SPEAKER_00]: Even today, I'm so grateful that those things still exist.
[SPEAKER_00]: I just think there's, but ultimately the whole point is for seven, for if you will, that I give unto you a place in the celestial world, you must prepare yourselves by doing the things that I've commanded you and required of you on the terrestrial world. [SPEAKER_00]: You understand how to do this in a terrestrial space. [SPEAKER_00]: You definitely have to have in order to get it in a celestial space.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, and if you even look in the footnote, I've always loved this one. [SPEAKER_01]: I've highlighted this. [SPEAKER_01]: I have notes all over on the bottom of my mind, but that's celestial glory, but objectives. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, think of if you have an objective, if you have a purpose, you know what you're trying to accomplish. [SPEAKER_01]: You know why you're doing those things and how interesting that, you know, I give end to you a place in the social world.
[SPEAKER_01]: You must prepare yourself. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the objective is to be prepared to live that way. [SPEAKER_01]: to be like our Heavenly Father, to think that way, to love that way. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and want it that way, right? [SPEAKER_00]: That that number six says, for if you're not equal and earthly things, you cannot be equal and obtaining heavenly things. [SPEAKER_00]: The idea that we see each other so differently, we value each other based on the things that we have.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think we all do that. [SPEAKER_00]: I think we all [SPEAKER_00]: estimate someone's value based on the way they present physically based on the way the things that they have, the circumstances of where they're living and how they're living. [SPEAKER_00]: We equate value of that person to all the temporal things and I couldn't possibly live celestially if I'm not willing or able at some point.
[SPEAKER_00]: to get over that and to see people have got these people equally valuable regardless of their circumstances. [SPEAKER_00]: So I think it's important that this storehouse is being regulated and established at this time organized and put together. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, and we know from history, this was difficult. [SPEAKER_01]: This was a trial. [SPEAKER_01]: This wasn't easy for most. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it maybe it was a little easier.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm judging here, but maybe it's a little easier for those that did struggle in the temples. [SPEAKER_01]: you know, needs of the world because they were finally able to be able to participate more in everything. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, their lives, the gospel growing crops or whatever because they just didn't have it temporarily, many of them. [SPEAKER_01]: But this was difficult.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so this is another, this is another one of those examples that the Lord gives us direction, knowing that things are going to be difficult. [SPEAKER_01]: And they put this in writing so that we have here's another, you know, revelation that we can go like you said, just a moment ago, take the time [SPEAKER_01]: go in, study, see what he's trying to help you through when it's difficult to help others.
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, when it comes to the storehouse of your ward? [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Matt, I mean, you know more than lots of others, too, that there's colonies and there's assignments because the Lord has given us talents and gifts and things and that's not always easy to share. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not always easy to make the sacrifice. [SPEAKER_01]: But once again, that's objective, you know? [SPEAKER_00]: A lot of time, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of time is as good as that are willing to serve and and and I think even more so I think those who commit their lives to developing talents and skills and [SPEAKER_00]: And it's so interesting to me as a music person. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm grateful that this has not happened to me, but well, I don't think it's totally happened to me. [SPEAKER_00]: I've had my same assignment in the stake as a stake music coordinator for eleven years now.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm pretty sure there's someone else in my stake who could be the stake music coordinator, right? [SPEAKER_00]: But because that person sits on the high council and I've been an eye counsel forever, [SPEAKER_00]: I just continue that assignment. [SPEAKER_00]: Greatfully, my state continues to use me in other things as well. [SPEAKER_00]: I teach quite often, I speak in my state. [SPEAKER_00]: I get to do a lot of other things.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's interesting to me when we have people who have a piano skill or an organ skill and they just get pigeonholed into that calling and that's all they ever do. [SPEAKER_00]: It's interesting to me that there isn't an attempt in some ways for that person to say, hey, I would love to teach somewhere. [SPEAKER_00]: I can continue to play the piano. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, most pianists, they can just wing it on Sunday and sit by the piano, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, and that's the case for everybody, but in a lot of cases where that has become [SPEAKER_00]: the calling that just gets landed on by that person. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it would be okay to go into a bishop and say, you know, I have this talent. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm willing to continue to use it, but I also would like to be used in other ways. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm willing to continue to do that on Sundays if you'd consider me for some other things.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'd love to serve. [SPEAKER_00]: However, I can serve.
[SPEAKER_00]: What happens is we have a talent or a skill and so because of that we get pigeonholed into that thing and if we aren't maybe even vocal about saying I want to continue to serve I need to serve in other ways too in addition to then I think sometimes we just kind of get left left to ourselves and we start feeling underused and undervalued and underutilized and [SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know that that's the way the Lord wants it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Not that it's not that it's your fault that that's happening if that's happening to you. [SPEAKER_00]: But sometimes information proceeds revelation, right? [SPEAKER_00]: We just need a little bit more information as a priest to know how you're feeling and know that that's not all you want to do and you're willing to do some other things in addition to the need that we have in the world or whatever it is. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I love that conversation.
[SPEAKER_00]: Totally worth it. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going to take the other side as well. [SPEAKER_01]: especially where you gave the example of the musical talent that you have.
[SPEAKER_01]: And our listeners, I hope that you have witnessed Brother Spenson's amazing musical talent because it's not just that he has the musical ability himself to present musical just wow, just how the spirit can just testify when he sings and uses some of his other musical talents, but it also he can inspire others. [SPEAKER_01]: He has a gift to draw out that musical ability of others to testify of this Savior. [SPEAKER_01]: in how they sing and how they express their musical abilities.
[SPEAKER_01]: Brotherschwitz and has a great gift with that. [SPEAKER_01]: And so the opposite there, Matt, when you were saying, you know, all of us get pigeon-toed times into those because everyone knows that and we think, like to utilize that, but also on the other side of that, because Matt has this incredible gift. [SPEAKER_01]: I have only seen a sliver of all of the great abundance of influence [SPEAKER_01]: that that has had.
[SPEAKER_01]: And once again, I mean, I remember Elder Eukdorf several years ago, remember when he reminded us of that village in Europe, that statue of the Savior. [SPEAKER_01]: And it was demolished during one of those battles and all the bombs that had come through the town. [SPEAKER_01]: And they tried to put it back together and they put everything, but the hands. [SPEAKER_01]: And if you remember from the story, they leave the hands off from the sign of the bottom is ye are my hands.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's [SPEAKER_01]: If you look even in, let's go back to our section here, because this reminds us of this. [SPEAKER_01]: We sometimes think of, if we receive all the instructions and we do all these things, if you look in, Dr. Cummett's seventy-eight, first nineteen. [SPEAKER_01]: And even, let's just jump up even to eighteen.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you cannot bear all things now, nevertheless be a good cheer for I will lead you along the kingdom of yours and the blessings there of our yours and the riches of attorneys.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now look at this powerful invitation and promise in nineteen and he who receive all things with thankfulness except all the callings and all the I can guarantee Matt is never said this listeners but I can guarantee their Scott to be times that Matt says do I have to do it this time can we find the one out because I'm here on this hour and that are and there's not more than twenty-four hours in a week so I don't know how I'm gonna get all this done
[SPEAKER_01]: But what a powerful invitation here that he's, and he who receive all things with thankfulness. [SPEAKER_01]: All the opportunities the Lord has and gives us to serve, to be in those places that aren't always the most convenient. [SPEAKER_01]: Not always what we want, but shall be made glorious and the things of it, this verse shall be added unto him, even a hundredfold yay more.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, [SPEAKER_01]: It boggles my mind because it's like, Matt cannot get more talented with his music. [SPEAKER_01]: And he just continues to get more and more talented. [SPEAKER_01]: And to have that gift just stronger and stronger. [SPEAKER_01]: And so Matt's already put on the spot there, but that's just a really powerful example of any of the things that we've been given that it is hard to be a gentle to that.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the gift that you have that God needs to use you that way because you're so effective to help others see his life. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I appreciate it. [SPEAKER_00]: You're being excessively kind. [SPEAKER_00]: And by no means the most talented, even in my own state, I think in the music realm. [SPEAKER_00]: What I would say is, I think you're willing this to continue to serve in the things that God's blessed you with, I think, is at the root of this, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: That if I'm willing to sacrifice all that I have, my time, my talents, and that which I've been given, [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's when the blessings of a hundredfold come back, right? [SPEAKER_00]: That's the end of verse nineteen, they're even a hundredfold, a more. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think there's something to that in that, for example, as an institute, choir director. [SPEAKER_00]: I've done choir for like twenty-five years of my life.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a point in my life where I quit doing it publicly as a public school teacher. [SPEAKER_00]: And when they came over to work for the church, they asked me if I wanted to start. [SPEAKER_00]: You can over the institute, and I said, no, let me just learn to teach for the church for a while. [SPEAKER_00]: I just wanted to do that for like a year, and then they brought me back in, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: But for sure, there is a desire that I have to kind of be done with that thing at some point. [SPEAKER_00]: But at the same time, until there's someone that they feel confident in and there's someone that the students want to come back in and to take that over, I'm willing to continue to serve and a thing that I feel a little done with as long as there's a need for it.
[SPEAKER_00]: And when Lord brings someone else in and says, hey, this is the new guy, even if he doesn't, I don't feel like he's as qualified or as talented or whatever, [SPEAKER_00]: When there's a need for someone else to have that assignment, I should be willing to step away from it. [SPEAKER_00]: And the pride of me having done it for as long as I've done it, should not be a thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: And at the same time, I should be willing to say, I need to gain some other skills and some other talents. [SPEAKER_00]: I think about some people in my ward when I've called into my first bishopric, I remember I was given the assignment to be over the primary and just facilitate where I could there help there. [SPEAKER_00]: And I remember I met with every single one of the primary teachers just in their home. [SPEAKER_00]: I just said, can I just come by and visit with you?
[SPEAKER_00]: I'd just like to get to know you a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: And so one of the questions I asked all of them was how many years have you served in the primary? [SPEAKER_00]: And they'd always be like, oh, you're in a half. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'd be like, no, in your whole life, how many years have you served in the primary?
[SPEAKER_00]: and they'd be like twenty four in eighteen right and and they're the type of people that are so good with children that in every word they're ever in or five years later when a new bishop's called hey sister so it'd be great in a primary let's put her in there not realizing she's been there for twenty three years [SPEAKER_00]: And it's interesting to me when you ask those questions. [SPEAKER_00]: And then you say, do you love your assignment?
[SPEAKER_00]: Would you love your calling? [SPEAKER_00]: Is it something you'd like us to petition a Lord about? [SPEAKER_00]: Are you comfortable there? [SPEAKER_00]: Are you missing the release of society? [SPEAKER_00]: Has there been so many years of lack of sisterhood that you feel like you know how many friends in the world? [SPEAKER_00]: All those things come from communication. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that it's okay to say, hey, I'm feeling a little left out.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't really know the sisters in my word. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't feel a combined unity here because I've been stuck in the primary for twenty-three years or whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: Not that you would ever regret being there. [SPEAKER_00]: But maybe there are some things the Bishop can do to keep you in your same assignment and help you find some ways to associate in other spheres.
[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, that's a lot of conversation about the Bishop's storehouse, which has nothing to do with that. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I love Matt that you just testified of this truth that we're reminded at the very end of this section. [SPEAKER_01]: You just took both of those. [SPEAKER_01]: We talked about how, you know, if you're stuck in something, you know, maybe going forward and I have other skills, I have other talents.
[SPEAKER_01]: I have other things to offer, but then also to then talk about, you know, when we are using those talents to be, you know, grateful in the moment that we're able to use those in the Lord's using us, you just testified [SPEAKER_01]: in a way to bring them both together, you just testified of twenty two. [SPEAKER_01]: So if you go to twenty two, it says, and he that is faithful and wise, steward, shall inherit all things.
[SPEAKER_01]: You just hit on how powerful it is to be faithful in whatever the Lord asked of you, to be all in and to keep going step after step, but also to be wise with that stewardship. [SPEAKER_01]: To are there times when you need to step back and may ask those questions. [SPEAKER_01]: Do I need more time with my family? [SPEAKER_01]: I love that you said, I know I haven't been in the real study. [SPEAKER_01]: I need that right now.
[SPEAKER_01]: That is being a faithful but also very important by Stuart. [SPEAKER_01]: So thank you Matt, you just testified about that very true right there. [SPEAKER_01]: They're totally different than our purpose. [SPEAKER_00]: No, I didn't. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you, Kathleen. [SPEAKER_00]: You're a fantastic teacher and one of the things I love about watching you teaches. [SPEAKER_00]: You're so validating to the student that you and even me sitting here today.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm grateful for that. [SPEAKER_00]: It's interesting this conversation about the Bishop's storehouse and all things should be gathered together and then associate it out as needed. [SPEAKER_00]: I think is an interesting precursor to then section seven and nine section eighty, which are four and five versus long, all just about calling a specific person or people to serve as a missionary.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how much time you want to spend on these verses, maybe there's not a lot in here that we need to touch on, but I have my oldest son as mission papers are in, and probably we'll get his call. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe this week, if not next week for sure, so I'll make that announcement when we know it.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's interesting to me to come out of section seventy-eight talking about [SPEAKER_00]: gathering all of our temporal wealth together and then being willing to give it up and then the conversation we've just had about service in the kingdom and whatnot and then thinking about my son who's willing to give up two years of his life. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know that I've done dad correct over the course of his life and preparing him for a mission.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's always been something in my mind that I wanted him to really know that it wasn't going to be this like fun thing that you're going to go out and you're going to have a hard time and it's going to be [SPEAKER_00]: challenging and so I never really build it as this like glorious experience because to me my mission was hard. [SPEAKER_00]: It was a hard experience to be away from home. [SPEAKER_00]: The day to day was tough.
[SPEAKER_00]: The first three or four months I think for most is really challenging and if you get through that you're going to be okay. [SPEAKER_00]: But I wanted my son to really know all those things and sop. [SPEAKER_00]: So probably as I've watched him kind of preparing himself for a mission, there's a little bit of trepidation that probably is unnecessary because I've said him up to think this is some miserable experience.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it is interesting to see him and just comments, small comments that he makes about how much he's going to be giving up to go away and things.
[SPEAKER_00]: you know the reality is I learned very quickly that I'm hanging out with a whole bunch of eighteen nineteen twenty-year-old dudes for two years at how bad can it be it you know granted you're teaching the gospel but it's a bunch of buddies hanging out for a couple years and it's not always that but but uh... but I don't know that I painted it in that way and so I'm seeing him reflect on the sacrifice it is to serve and uh... and to be called to go uh... is is a sacrifice it's there's a lot to it well in fact
[SPEAKER_01]: for you to give your example of your son and being called. [SPEAKER_01]: Like he's voluntarily made that decision with the invitation that Lord has given him with his priesthood. [SPEAKER_01]: And he's made that choice and he's going to be called. [SPEAKER_01]: It's he's going to be ordained. [SPEAKER_01]: He's going to be given specific instructions and where to go and what to do. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's interesting that both of these sections won the first one with Jared Carter.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's called to go specifically to an area and to go from city to city. [SPEAKER_01]: And he was promised that the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, is going to teach him and teach those that he goes and finds. [SPEAKER_01]: And he's very successful. [SPEAKER_01]: I want to say, I wrote it down. [SPEAKER_01]: And he found and helped find the gospel at the time of the restored gospel. [SPEAKER_01]: Ninety eight people in the time of, and it wasn't very long of his mission.
[SPEAKER_01]: And very interesting there that it was, he went on his own. [SPEAKER_01]: He wasn't assigned a companion necessarily. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure he was with others at different times. [SPEAKER_01]: but his assignment was to go to a certain place city to city. [SPEAKER_01]: But then the next one references these three individuals that they're assigned to be companions. [SPEAKER_01]: And the Lord tells them, it doesn't matter where you go, just open your mouth.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you'll be successful everywhere you go, but you're going to be together. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's interesting, you know, I know everyone that served a mission, a full-time mission knows you have some companions that you're like, hey, when is the next transfer? [SPEAKER_01]: Can we make calendar of the moments and seconds, you know, just like the challenge? [SPEAKER_01]: But then there's times that you just, you know, you bond.
[SPEAKER_01]: But then there's also times where you don't really have a direction of which, you know, work on contracts to go to. [SPEAKER_01]: But there are the times you know exactly where you're supposed to go. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: That's a really powerful thing, especially exciting for your son and all those missionaries out there and to get out to go, the Lord has a plan.
[SPEAKER_01]: And if you'll trust him, he, it will, it will change throughout your mission. [SPEAKER_01]: It could even change. [SPEAKER_01]: Where are you going? [SPEAKER_01]: Where what it looks like, but it's called... Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the call is what matters, not the location, right? [SPEAKER_00]: I'm remembering back to my service. [SPEAKER_00]: It's served in Las Vegas, Las Vegas, West Mission, and it covered the whole western side of Nevada all the way up.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a railroad track that divides the state and clear up into Lake Tahoe and California and Northern California. [SPEAKER_00]: And in my twenty four months, I had sixteen different companions and I had one companion for about eight months. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you do the math, I had one a month and I had him and he was he's awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: David Allen-Hinsdale is his name and he has asked burgers and would probably serve a service mission today but is amazing.
[SPEAKER_00]: but people struggle to serve with him and so my my mission president asked late in my mission if I'd be willing to have him be my companion and then I had him for eight months and it was a long experience with him but I love him and and my previous missionary companions I literally got a new one every month and after the third one I was asked to be a trainer and train the missionaries that were coming in and my mission president met with me and he said mad I'm gonna give you a shelter so I'm gonna give you
[SPEAKER_00]: some challenging companions because I'd like for you to help them in their first month to get their feet underneath them. [SPEAKER_00]: And so he would go into his first interviews and he'd picked like the hardest guy that he got coming in from the empty sea and he'd just give him to me.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I only had him for a month ever and then I'd get a new one the next month and grateful for the trial and the challenge of receiving each of those new missionaries and learning about them and understanding them. [SPEAKER_00]: But that experience probably was the most helpful experience in preparing me for marriage. [SPEAKER_00]: I knew exactly what I wanted. [SPEAKER_00]: I knew exactly what I didn't want in someone that I had to live with.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so there's some really great experiences that come from serving in ways that help you for the rest of your life. [SPEAKER_00]: And perhaps that's why [SPEAKER_00]: And my council of my own son has been like, oh, this is not easy. [SPEAKER_00]: Because my sixteen companions were mostly rough. [SPEAKER_00]: So, but there's an interesting experience and grateful for missionary service.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, for you to share your experience and what you're telling your son, which is real. [SPEAKER_01]: That is real. [SPEAKER_01]: It's when anything that we do of or if is going to be a challenge, but worth it. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, to reference both of these again, the differences and how you talk about companions and hard companions. [SPEAKER_01]: Who is an investigator? [SPEAKER_01]: We don't talk. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't use that term very much anymore.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's more just friends, right? [SPEAKER_01]: We're trying to find other friends to bring to Christ and learn to Christ together. [SPEAKER_01]: But who really is an investigator? [SPEAKER_01]: Who is trying to find the Savior? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we all are trying to find the Savior. [SPEAKER_01]: And so interesting on both of these sections that one, it's referencing just Jared Carter.
[SPEAKER_01]: I need you to be focused and you're going to go place to place and search out who needs to hear my message and to bring me to them. [SPEAKER_01]: And then these others to have the emphasis of these companions, where they to help one another like you shared. [SPEAKER_01]: But where they all enter. [SPEAKER_01]: And I really appreciate your recognizing that I learned that you learned in those work of death. [SPEAKER_01]: You were asked by your mission president, help them.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you see how they help you and have a better marriage, probably a better dad, a better everything because of those. [SPEAKER_01]: So really awesome that if we will go into and once again, I love the council you gave. [SPEAKER_01]: So any listeners, you take that council that it's hard. [SPEAKER_01]: You can do it. [SPEAKER_01]: Just go in and know it's going to be hard and you can do this.
[SPEAKER_01]: But another is to who needs you and at times it is going to be your companion. [SPEAKER_01]: It's time that's going to be the neighbor. [SPEAKER_01]: It's might be your landlord. [SPEAKER_01]: that you're living, you and your companion or companions are living in this place. [SPEAKER_01]: It could be somebody on the street, but most powerful is that we go forward as his missionary, you know, to bring the Savior. [SPEAKER_01]: And it will strengthen everyone.
[SPEAKER_01]: I went on, I mission to Thailand. [SPEAKER_01]: And we didn't baptize a lot. [SPEAKER_01]: That one area I baptized, I didn't baptize, but we helped them and they were baptized a good chunk. [SPEAKER_01]: Well at the time, I was only in Thailand for a month when they set apart, we had elder Maxwell come. [SPEAKER_01]: And he set apart the first stake and work before that. [SPEAKER_01]: They were all branches.
[SPEAKER_01]: And now here, I don't tell you how old I am, but now here there's, I think they just made another stake. [SPEAKER_01]: There's two missions. [SPEAKER_01]: They have a temple. [SPEAKER_01]: That was the savior. [SPEAKER_01]: He needed to go there. [SPEAKER_01]: He needed those missionaries to spread him and those incredible members there that an investigators have found him and have shared with their friends and neighbors that that country has.
[SPEAKER_01]: even a whole, the temple in that wonderful area. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's just, it's just awesome that he does all different things that we think are serving him that he's, he's really taking care of us. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, and that's found in verse two of section seven and nine two and I will send upon him the comforter. [SPEAKER_00]: which she'll teach him the truth and the way whether he shall go, right? [SPEAKER_00]: The title of the spirit being the comforter.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think is so apropos for that assignment to come to missionaries and to comfort them. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm hopeful that that same comforting spirit comes to my son as he learns to preach the gospel and to teach the gospel. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, as a parent, you see your children be raised and you hear them bear their testimony occasionally and then you think, I wonder, what is actually going to say on a doorstep?
[SPEAKER_00]: you know, how's that actually going to come out because you know, you don't you don't see that that side of them very frequently, but but then I'm I'm hopeful that like I've seen in so many other mysteries going out that they they really grasp hold of their testimony on it that he will do that I'm sure. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, Sister Clément, thank you.
[SPEAKER_00]: This has been a wonderful discussion of some sections that are maybe a little different than the traditional sections that we cover. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to ask you a little bit different question today to close us out. [SPEAKER_00]: At the beginning of the episode here, you've shared that you've gone through a difficult thing with your spouse and the surgeries that he's had to have.
[SPEAKER_00]: And you shared a little bit about how, and maybe this was off air I can't remember, but shared a little bit about how you learn in the extremities of our life we learn to see God's hand in our life. [SPEAKER_00]: Would you share with our audience, maybe not too personally, but ways that you've seen the Lord in your hand, it lords hand in your life as you've gone through this challenge with your husband's health and whatnot that way?
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's interesting that you'd ask that because we're, you know, [SPEAKER_01]: reminiscing about it a lot recently, there's still some other challenges and things that we're kind of going through about. [SPEAKER_01]: It has been very humbling and a great reminder that God is in every detail of our lives. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's always, we don't want to go through trial. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't want to go through difficulty.
[SPEAKER_01]: We don't want to go through packed schedules and all the stress that comes with all different things in our lives, but our Father and Heaven loves us so much. [SPEAKER_01]: that he wants to be able to provide the best of everything in our lives. [SPEAKER_01]: And that more than anything has been something that I've been reminded of and just to be able to see the goodness of people and to see their love for me and our family. [SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes we feel like we're alone.
[SPEAKER_01]: We know we're surrounded by people to love us but we feel so alone. [SPEAKER_01]: And many oftentimes which that's been a reminder for our family that when we have hard things [SPEAKER_01]: We see the love that the Savior has and who he surrounded us with. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's been another. [SPEAKER_01]: But also it's a reminder of the gospel has of Jesus Christ has all the answers that Jesus Christ can bring peace. [SPEAKER_01]: He can bring clarity and confusion.
[SPEAKER_01]: He can bring healing with your heart that is hurting. [SPEAKER_01]: He can heal a physical heart. [SPEAKER_01]: And in guide doctors that aren't completely aware of Jesus Christ, but through faith, they can be guided to know what to do. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's just, it's amazing to me just how much our Heavenly Father and our Savior just love us and that they are there in our details of every moment of our lives. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, thank you.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's fun to see him working in the lives of my colleagues and peers and friends. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's easy, I think, sometimes from the outside to see it, to see his hand in your life. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think sometimes we get in the middle of the forest, we don't see the forest for the trees. [SPEAKER_00]: And we miss it. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm grateful that you've been cognizant and maybe even conversive about that and in your life.
[SPEAKER_00]: grateful that you're willing to share with us today. [SPEAKER_00]: And we're going to have you back not too long for now. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, within the next ten sections, we're having you back. [SPEAKER_00]: So I look forward to being with you. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you again for your time today. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, thanks for having me. [SPEAKER_01]: This is always so much fun to talk about the Scriptures and the Savior. [SPEAKER_01]: Awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: So thank you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Of course. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll see you next time.
