Emailing college coaches sounds easy, but it can be one of the most challenging parts of recruiting. Timing is crucial, but deciding on the right level of schools first is the key. Then being patient and not just sending because you are a Level 10 is very hard. No one wants to be left out, so many recruits email way to early and do not realize their information may be deleted. Jill shares the importance of when to email and the content that catches the college coaches attention.
Today I share why some 2025's might feel like college coaches are pausing on recruiting and not responding. Also, there are things that you can still be doing. Don't give up, keep working hard and be ready to shine in January. This is so unfortunate but it does happen and that is losing a scholarship because of injury or surgery. Jill shares tips on how to mange these situations. The key is take time for yourself to grieve the injury and loss of possible scholarship and then get back in the recruiting game. It is not easy but you can do it and most importantly communicate with college coaches at all times when you get injured. They do not like finding out through "other people".
Today we discuss the House Class Action Lawsuit and the impact on the NCAA. How will this potentially impact the sport of gymnastics? Jill also reminds recruits the importance of picking college summer camps wisely. We have seven advisors at JH Consulting. It is so refreshing and like a breath of fresh air when we stop looking around at others and comparing ourselves to them. We are all at a different pace, ability and timing in regards to our progress and being recruited Staying focused on what we can control is the key! But I also believe being grateful for the little things in our lives will release us from a lot of anxiety. It is so important to go to practice and meets focused on you and not looking around at others. Be encouraged as you list...
Research is a key factor in setting you up for success in the college recruiting process. There are so many ways to make this fun and get you ready to step up to the plate when you start to have direct communication with college coaches
