been wanting for the last ten years. And obviously as far as finding out specifically what actually happened to her, will they get those answers? Ever, that remains to be seen. I would imagine an appeal could be could be in play here for Brooks Howck, but only time will tell. But certainly a big day as far as just seeing the jury decide to bring in a verdict of guilty for both Brooks Howck and Joseph Lawson and life sentences

the recommendation when it comes to Brooks how Can. I'm not surprised, however, it was hard for me to not make it and I never wanted it to sound as if I was of the belief that these two weren't guilty, I wasn't there in the courtroom. I wasn't on the jury, So I don't know. Maybe I'll never know what my decision would have been had I been there. I likely believe that it would have been me, agreeing with those that were on the jury that decided to convict these

two of this crime. But there are countless cases, I'm sure where if you compare the actual evidence that was there, it was hard for a jury to convict. I mean, I went and looking at it last night and I ended up spending way too much time doing it. But if you go look at similar and there's ways you

can do it again, AI is a powerful tool. But if you look at previous trials where the evidence going against the person that's on trial is very similar to what was at play here, I mean, I don't have a success rate as far as the prosecution in those previous trials, but there are many whether it was just not only do you have some that were found not guilty, some you couldn't even get the charges to stick. And

again I don't say that in defense of them. It just there was more worry than I think I realized from the just the public that these two may get away with it, and it's nice to know that they're not going to get away with it. And there's others that were involved that will probably be worried moving forward

if their days coming. As far as an indictment, because throughout the trial it was made pretty clear that both Nick Hawk, the brother of Brooks Howk, and his mother Rosemary, their mother, Rosemary, I should say, they're listed as unindicted co conspirators. So I could tell just by the reaction from and again not just people in that community, but

just people who followed this for a while. I mean, this is what seemingly everybody wanted, because despite not being in the courtroom during this trial and being on the jury, I know I'm one of many that assumed these two were were guilty and needed to be needed to be held accountable. But when you look at the actual evidence that that was circumstantial, but still it's just impossible to think of, you know, if I'm in the shoes of somebody on this Jerry, and I'm hearing the defense, it's

hard for me to even take them serious. As far as just some of the some of the explanations as to as to why you know the cell phone records right, like, prosecutors made it clear that the self the calls and tower pings showed that how was at his farm, not on business as he claimed during the evening of her disappearance. I mean just claiming that. I don't know the specifics, but just the defense was, well, you know it's it's

it's a Wi Fi paying and not a cell tower paying. Well, and again, you got to be consistent if you're gonna lie, and clearly his his lies didn't didn't hold up because you know, he said some things as far as just what took place the day of the disappearance the day after, and that ended up just not being true. And again that doesn't prove anything, but it certainly makes you look very,

very suspicious. And then there was a lot of testimony throughout the trial as far as just what people heard being discussed among rather it be the Lossons or the Hawk family, but not as much. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't remember there being a whole lot of testimony that included things overheard by the Hawk brothers. It was the mother and of course the Lawsons who ended up being conspirators in this whole thing, and certainly they're going

down with Halck as well. So again a pretty quick decision. Nobody, no murder, weapon, no DNA, but the jury after nine days and then just four hours of deliberation, they found they found enough in their mind to say guilty. And as you heard in our recent newscast from John Shannon, this is and over. I guess there's no way to know as far as what's coming next, but I think with this conviction they probably feel pretty good about moving forward or at least heading in the right direction to

bring charges to others. All right, we've got an update of traffic and whether coming your way. Bobby Ellis, we'll tell us what's the latest on traffic. And I didn't see it. It just popped off the screen here in front of me, but WKY looked as if they had a live look at some real traffic. So Bobby Ellis will give us the latest on that. We'll take a look at Matt Melosovitch as forecast from WKY, and didn't take long for Donald Trump to question why people seem to be worried

about this Epstein fella. So we'll get to that and more right here on Kentucky and This Morning News News Radio eight forty whas So, yesterday, President Trump defended the recent decision by the DOJ to just say, well, nothing to see here, it's over. No more documents would be released, and the Epstein investigation, we're washing our hands of it.

In fact, he wasn't asked the question. It was Attorney General Pam Bondi that was asked, but Trump interjected and the question was asked yesterday, and I just send your are you still talking about Jeffrey Epstein? This guy's been talked about for years. You're asking we have Texas, we have this, we have all of the things, and are

people still talking about this guy? That's great? That is unbelievable. So, I mean, I'm not totally shocked to see that he was in support here, because if he wasn't, it wouldn't have played out the way that it did. Right, Let's be real, and I think this is way more complex and messy than anybody realizes as far as just what the outcome would be if, in fact, they just released documents that we don't even really know if they exist.

Which that's a whole other layer to this is who would keep a ledger, Like, what kind of I mean, pardon my French, what kind of dumb ass would would document I mean, are people as much as you think it's delusion to assume that there's nothing to see here and this, you know, two people that were you know, charged and sent to prison for a sex trafficking ring.

I mean, we're supposed to just believe that that they traffic no one and there weren't victims because apparently there was nobody that was involved in it on the on the side of you know, taking advantage of these victims. And again that's just it's insulting our intelligence to have

anybody believe that. It's also, though, I think, an insult to intelligence to think that somebody involved in this would literally just have a little notebook where where they're taking notes and recording all this awful stuff that clearly they used all their power, influence and influence to try to

keep a big secret. So what I have found to be really fascinating, and probably more so than anything just because it's very very rare for this to happen, but we are united Americans seem to be on the same page with this as far as regardless of your political affiliation, you don't believe that this was handled the right way and that we deserve to know more about what went on, right, I mean, I don't care if you're a Republican Democrat whatever.

It does seem as if there's a lot of noise coming from all directions, all sides, both sides of the aisle,

and everywhere else. As far as just saying, come on, like you think we're stupid here, So just because you are somebody that was on that you had, there's document did Look, we don't even need these lists that may not exist or anything like that, or any files that may not exist, because clearly there are people that were tied to Jeffrey Epstein and some I think you might believe would be involved in the awful things that Epstein was involved in over the years. But then there's others

that you might believe it. But like, it may not be fair to just put that out there. So I think the decision to just turn over, like if in fact there are things that exist, meaning a list and just other file files, turning that over that could lead to I mean, it could ruin lives of people who don't deserve that, and that's something that you can't just do without thinking of potential consequence. But again, that's my big takeaway, is that we're so divided in really every

aspect of life, seemingly this day and age. But everyone seems to say, and I'm sure others are more consumed by it than most, but move on. Nothing to see here. That's an insult to our intelligence, even if we don't have much, it's an insult to what little we may have. It is Kentucky in its morning news here at six thirty six Nick Coffee. That's me John, all on alongside. And if you are getting your day started, and you are, let me make sure I get this correct because we've got some big time traffic that is out there this morning. It started about an hour ago as an accident on the Waterson eastbound just past Breckenridge Lane blocked the three left lanes, which we're talking in the five am hour.

It looks as if it's a parking lot there, so I'm not sure how much progress has been made, but as of the last in the last ten minutes, it looks as if those lanes are still are still blocked. So in fact, is this the same area? This says this was a crash on I sixty four eastbound the

ramp to Hurstbourne Parkway, which is blocking all lanes. So yeah, if you are, if you're on sixty four eastbound, if you're a sixty four east Waterson eastbound that area, be prepared because it looks like there's some real delays going on. So not sure what you can do about it if you're just now finding out and you haven't given yourself extra time, but just be advised. I am sure I'm not the only one who has signed up for a trial of something thinking, oh, I'll just utilize the free week that I get and then i'll come back and cancel and it won't cost me anything. I've done that many times and been wrong, meaning I procrastinate, forget about it, and I end up paying for something that I really don't need.

And this is clearly a thing because one there's companies now that are that are I don't even I don't know how successful they are as far as gaining customers, but it's become somewhat of a competitive industry where you have people sign up for your service just like they do all the other ones, and the service is in fact, to cancel your subscriptions to things that you don't need.

So yesterday and Appeals Court blocked the FTC's click to cancel rule, which again keeps subscription cancelations a complete pain in the ass for America. And I mean, I guess if you're one of these companies that makes it as difficult as possible, I mean, in a way, you're I mean, let's be real, you're like, you know what you're doing.

You're you're just hoping that it'll become such a pain that people will unsuccessfully try to cancel, meaning they won't be able to figure it out, or they just won't go through all the time, because it's it's a hassle. And for a lot of people, I don't know, four ninety nine a month or something like that, maybe even I don't know, nineteen ninety nine a month, that's not an insane amount of money in the grand scheme of things.

But if you've got enough people that are just paying that because they forgot about it, and they're thinking, well, nineteen ninety nine a month, five to ninety nine a month, whatever it is, that's not really a big deal. I can afford that it's no issue. Well, if you're that company, like your profits, imagine imagine the percentage of the money that you make that is coming from people that quite

literally forgot they ever signed up for your service. So I mean, it's it's I wish the click to cancel rule would not have been blocked, but it has been blocked because apparently the eighth the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, they ruled that the FTC skipped a requirement, skipped a required economic impact analysis for the rules affecting over one hundred million dollars. So it's been put on hold and

we'll see what plays out. But again, i'm if you are somebody that is putting together a subscription based service, whatever service it is that you provide, and you are not making it very difficult to unsubscribe, good for you because you're not trying to take advantage of people. Now again, if you actually, I mean, it'd be impossible for them to be able if you don't sign a contract, they can't make it impossible for you to unsubscribe and move

on from it. But clearly there are people who I would imagine part of their job for these for these companies is to put together like usually you want to put together processes that make things very simple for your customers because that's a way in which you can have a high rate of satisfaction when it comes to your customers. But for business, for the bottom line, you make it a complete pain in the ass, and that's you're probably looked at as if you're doing a good job by

your employer. But it has been, uh, it has been put on pause for the time being. And I'm a procrastinator and just in general, it's one of the many flaws I have, believe it or not, I'm not perfect, guys, But John Alden, I can see you being somebody that you know every monthly payment you make for any subscription you have right I do. And because you're responsible unlike me, when you brought this story up, I immediately thought of

a panic attack about apples. So Apple TV was a pain in the ass to get rid of when it comes to subscriptions now, and that's the only one that really comes to mind for me. But yeah, this is

definitely an issue. It's wild how great they are and how in a matter of seconds they could take your money but in order to stop being able you know the other end of it, man, it's just a you know, there's like doing your tax, yes, and it's insulting tact as if like that's not intentionally an issue for people because they just hold on to hope that you'll forget about it and not worry about it or just be

So the WNBA has been a more popular product for one specific reason in the last couple

of years, and that is because of Caitlin Clark. And when I when I pick up a level of delusion that I think is just unbelievable, it's hard for me to not get consumed by it because I try to think, Okay, what am I Am? I the one that's crazy here.

So right now, the WNBA, in the WNBA Players Association, they are locked in a contentious battle here with revenue sharing being the biggest sticking point when it comes to a new CBA with the WNBA, and I mean the latest from the union president of the WNBA, because the league, of course, had a counterproposal to what the the WNBA plaguere Association filed. They you know, here's a quote from somebody within the Plague Association. It's a slap in the face.

And another player said it's a polar opposite of what their demands are. So what I what I just can't quite I can't quite figure out, is that if you want more than what you're getting, that's normal. That's that's I mean, who wouldn't want more benefits, more of a salary like That's just that's that's an obvious, that's a given. But the notion that they're being taken advantage of and they're not being treated fairly is what I just think is is wild. So I mean, let's just be real.

I mean the WNBA, I mean, the demands here are bold, and they have I think shown a lot of delusion in the last couple of years, because I just don't know how anybody could look you in the eye and tell you that the reason that the league has seen growth as far as viewership and even popularity is because of one player. That's nobody's fault. That's just the reality of it. Anybody claiming that it's not that is a delusional human being. And again, the WNBA players voting her

the ninth best guard in the league. I mean if that, I mean that's lappable. So when you have really one single phenomenon being so solely instrumental in the viewership and financial growth of the league, if you're the WNBA, I mean you can't. I mean you can't go in and act as if this is sustainable because it'd be one thing if you had a bunch of different Caitlin Clark's in the mix, but she moves the needle like nobody

I have ever seen in any specific sport. So, I mean it's one thing to want more again, but the push they want as far as you know, revenue sharing, it's it's laughable. I mean in the NBA, the NFL players get basically fifty percent of the revenue, and that's not I mean the WNBA. I mean, yeah, the wa is estimated nine point three player revenue share. It just reflects the reality that it's a league that has been propped up for decades by the NBA subsidizing it and

other external investments. And I just this notion that there's money being made from the product, that it's a WNBA and the players are you are being left out and not getting a fair share. Like that's not Planet Earth, that's not reality. And the only hope that the league, I think, ever, is really profitable, unfortunately is And this isn't about supporting or not supporting women's basketball. These are
