It's time for coffee and company, fueled by Thornton's on Sports Talk seven nine day. Now, here's nick coffee.
All right, let's do it. It's the five o'clock hour here on a Tuesday. It's Tuesday, right, Yeah, it's a Tuesday. Some reason, it feels like it shouldn't be Tuesday, like she was later in the Yeah, it doesn't.
Think it's because we had the short week last week.
Short weeks are great, but they really throw me off when it comes to like I feel like last week was kind of like a throwaway. Yeah, like it was you know, it's nice. I'm not complaining about having a short week, but like, I don't know, just different. But it is Tuesday, I can't confirm, and it is the five o'clock hour. Can confirm that. And I can also confirm this is coffee and company. And we are fueled by Thornton's right here on Sports Talk seven to ninety.
And I certainly appreciate you guys hanging out with us, and I wouldn't I try each each time we gives it the five o'clock hour, or at least most days, to try to you know, give those just now joining us a little bit of a of a heads up as to where we've been and where we're heading for the final hour of the show, and we've been all over the place today. I did continue to mention Louisville football. I just feel like we're being left out. We're getting
love right top twenty and the eight peopole. I think, you know, if you look at those that are discussing potential playoff dark horses, Louisville is being mentioned here and there not, you know, not consistently. And I'm not by any way. I'm not in any way saying that they're going to be in the playoff because I don't. I don't know, you know, I guess it's possible, but we don't.
We haven't even seen this team play against a real opponent yet, so any conversation about the playoff would be premature. There's no doubt about it. But you know, if you are somebody that likes to look ahead and dream big and get excited when it comes to the ESPN FPI, which is a flawed formula anyway, the percentage chances of going undefeated, Ohio State has the best percentage chance at
twenty three point two percent. Alabama. I'm sorry, Texas at nineteen point three, Alabama eleven point five, and then there's a big drop off Georgia at five point one. So there are looks like twelve teams that have any percent more than a one percent chance of going undefeated according to this formula, and Louisville's one of them at two point five percent. So again, I'm not saying they're going to do that. We haven't. Again, we haven't even seen
the play real game yet. But I'm trying to find a silver lining, right because again, it's nice to see your team take care of business and beat down the opponents that they got to play because that's what you're supposed to do in those games. But to have those two games and then the bye week happened this early, it just, you know, I just I'm feending to see this team in action to where I can take something from it, and we just haven't had that happen yet,
and that's unfortunate. But I did mention a really impressive Louisville football stat earlier that I want that I'll share again with you guys if you weren't with us, because this is one of the you know, this is impressive. This is something that I feel like there can't be that many other teams in college football that can say this.
Louisville after keeping Jacksonville State from scoring on their first possession last Saturday, they've now extended their streak to twenty consecutive games where they have held their opponents scoreless on their opponent's first drive, first possession. So, you know, shout out to the Louisville defense. We shouldn't take them for granted. Also, one other thing I want to throw out there, losing
Penny Boone was viewed as a as a negative. You know, I think Jeff Brown made the right decision, and I don't think there's anything that like Jeff brom could have done that would have kept that kid around, meaning that like would have made sense. Right, he wanted more money, he was bothered where he was on the depth chart, and like that guy can't get on the field at
Central Florida. He's one of the examples of like, dude, you probably got money from Louisville and maybe even Central Florida that you would not have got at Kent State or Akron Toledo wherever he played in the MAC. But like you were there for a reason. You played at Maryland and you couldn't get on the field there, at least not consistently as a running back in the Big Ten. You go to the MAC and you ball out and then you jump up, but you weren't. I mean, like,
it's not uncommon. I would imagine for a guy that is pretty damn good at the MAC level to transfer to a power for conference and not be as good, not be as I mean, not be the starter, because there's guys there that you know, for example, if these Louisville running backs were playing in the MAC, they probably put up better numbers and petty Boat if I'm being honest with you. So that's one of the random positives that I think you can take. Again, I know who
the competition has been. It's not any buddy that's supposed to challenge you, but man, Jeff brom has a lot of good running backs to utilize. And I mean just looking at I mean just looking at the depth chart at running back. I mean you've had guys like Duke Watson, who you know didn't even I mean didn't even he wasn't even listed on the three deep. He's now had a touchdown in both of his games. I love Kewan
Brown freshman Isaac Brown. I mean again, Duke Watson and Isaac Brown are freshmen and they look like they not only are going to be good players for a while here, but like they could help you this year. Haven't been mentioned Cheney, by the way, we got to wait and see what's going on with him. He did have a high ankle sprain, which is an injury that can certainly
can linger. But you know, you're not as worried about it when you look at the other running backs that Louisville has, So you know, who knows what it all means considering the competition, But so far, so good. I think Louisville's taking care of business and I'm eager to see what they look like when they played Georgia Tech
on Saturday. And by the way, that again, is it three thirty For those of you that might have missed that news yesterday at three thirty, kickoff next Saturday as the Cards take on Georgia Tech and their acc opener. We also talked about the when in a football game last night where the star of the game, I mean no question about it. I mean Jordan Mason was his name.
Former George Tech running back by the way, I don't remember him at Georgia Tech, but he got the start because Christian McCaffrey couldn't go, and man did he make the most of it in his first career start in the NFL, one hundred and forty seven rushing yards with a touchdown on twenty eight carries. And as you could expect, he was talked to after the game given then he was, you know, probably player the game. If they give those
kind of things out, I'm sure some people do. And he was asked when he found out that he would be playing like he would be starting, and he gave an honest answer, And here it is, when did you find out that you were going to be starting?
When?
Not found out?
Maybe Friday Friday night, you know, something like that. So he just gave an honest answer, and I'm sure he regrets that. He kind of acted like he regretted it when he actually gave when he was asked the same question in the press conference following the game, and the old reason like, I don't think this is a big deal. I don't think that anybody from the Niners needs to be like legitimately punished. And I'd be lying if I said I care because I had no skin in the game.
I was impacted in no way by McCaffrey not playing and this guy playing. However, you know, there are people who wager that obviously, you know, maybe they had maybe they could have made some money had they known Friday when Jordan Mason did that McCaffrey wasn't going to be able to go. So by being honest and given an honest answer, a guy probably given his first and maybe the only post game on the field interview he'll do on Monday Night Football. Ever, by being honest, he might
have admitted that his team, you know, violated rules. And I don't know what the punishment would be for that. But again, if he found out on Friday that he is not going to be available, meaning McCaffrey, and that Mason would get to start, the Niners broke an NFL rule by listing him as questionable with the chance of playing despite that not being the case. And I think
this is all I mean, let's be real. They can just claim, well, yeah, we told him to be ready because we didn't know he was questionable, and then we found out an hour or two hours before the game that he can't go like, I don't see any scenario here where you can claim that they lied about McCaffrey's availability. Now you can, I mean, I believe they lie, trust me, but like proving that they did is going to be difficult to do. And it's really such a silly thing.
But given how much sports wagering is now embedded in the NFL and all other sports for that matter, like you got to be consistent with your with your with your customers essentially, right, Like, because of your partnership with these sports books, you are encouraging people who consume your product to go wager on it, and they clearly want to know who's available and who's not. And the Niners
probably misled, and I'm sure they'll do it again. Other teams are gonna do it because they don't care about your bets. But again, this is where the NFL. When you do, when when sports wagering becomes so tied up in the National Football League, like you do have to at least be mindful and at least hide at least
make it look like you care about that stuff. At least make it look as if you are gonna give the Niners a slap on the wrist and remind them that they need to be honest because it matters now, Like it's just something interesting that I don't feel like has happened before, at least at this level, because again we're starting what year three. I feel like it's year three in the NFL, where sports wagering is just in
your face NonStop. It's only year two for us around here because it's only been legal in this state for about a year now, but it's been you know, it happens so fast, man Like, I feel like in a matt like I always go back to when I started working at iHeart. That was eight years ago. So even like six years ago, five years ago, even sports wagering
was still very very rare. I feel like in most places in the United States now it's rare that you can't bet in certain states, right, I mean, we became an island pretty quickly where every state that bordered us you could legally bet on sports, but we were the only one that you couldn't. Well, now, of course we've been doing it for a year, and you know, it's clearly been beneficial in a major way. Also, I brought up the shelf life for the Manning cast and I
got the pushback that I expected. I'm not telling anybody that it's not great, but I'm just curious, like well, that people seem to love both Mannings and I do. Personally, I'm a huge Peyton Manning fan. I think it's been pretty well documented throughout my time here on the air. Like I'm a Colts fan first and foremost, but like the best memories I have as being a Colts fan is Peyton Manning. Like I love Peyton Manning. He's funny,
he's entertaining. I never thought Eli had announced a personality and then he retires and he's actually hilarious. He's been funnier than Peyton on the Manning cast. And last night they did it for the opener. They had Adam Sandler on there, who's a big Jets fan, and it's entertaining. I'm not even sure if you could find people to
do that the way that these guys do. But yet, like I just I still am naturally inclined to tune into a natural broadcast when I'm watching a game, not guys that are watching from their own like man Cave, not in the same place, and they are They're funny,
they're bringing in guests like Adam Sandler. They've had other big celebrities on there before when they do it, and I'm sure that and in fact, I know I've watched it to see that they do provide some insight that you wouldn't hear from the typical announcer, that like most of us on our couch watching would never know. And
that's interesting enough. But like, I don't know, I just if you're really into a game and you are watching your team in a big game on mine, in a footballor maybe it's just a game that like you put a lot of money on, like you've bet on it, so you are invested either emotionally as a fan or as a better Are you cool with watching the game from start to finish with that type of of a broadcast,
because maybe I'm maybe I'm in the minority here. I feel like I'm just going to always naturally want to hear a play by play guy and a color analyst and it, you know, because that's just what I've that's what I've been accustomed to forever when I watched sports. But a lot of people on the text line earlier making it clear they're all in, they're big fans of the Manning cast, and I am too. I didn't mean. I didn't mean to make it sound as if I'm
anti Manning cast. I just think like again, and if you're ESPN, ABC, it makes total sense because what you have now is you're always going to have a huge number of people watching it live on your standard broadcast, whether it be ABC or ESPN. Now you've got ESPN two, and that's just adding viewership that you were probably previously playing a rerun of A thirty for thirty and the amount of people watching that is probably much smaller than
what we're getting whenever you have the Manning cast. So it's a no brainer for them to do. I'm just curious off like it can sustain the momentum that it established last year because it's good. It's just for me, you know, Like I'll sample it and it'll be good.
But I still am just inclined to always go towards the typical broadcast, even if it's people that I don't really care for, like when we had Joe Tess and Booger and Brian Greasie, Like that was not a great Monday night football lineup, but they at least are a more traditional broadcast than what you get with Eli and Peyton sitting in their basement. Which, again, it's funny, it's entertaining, it's just not what I'm used to when it comes to watching sports in games that I really care about.
All Right, so you put some random NFL stats after Week one. These are these are legitimate stats that I think some people may not believe, but I'm here to tell you they're true. This is all this is. This is this is just random crazy statistics that I find interesting. Hopefully you guys do too. So Josh Jacobs, he had a touchdown catch called back on a penalty, and that was the last time that he potentially, like he is now the leader in career receiving yards with out a
receiving touchdown. And that may not be that crazy to you, but he had I think a play called in yeah, in week one. Yeah. So he's now had two in the last two seasons touchdowns called back that he ended up in the end zone. He's a running back, obviously, but he's clearly utilized to catch passes out of the backfield as well. But he has over fourteen hundred receiving yards and he's never caught a touchdown. That is the most receiving yards ever in the NFL by somebody who
never ended up in the end zone. The second leader is a guy named Michael Carter who has less than seven hundred and fifty. So think about how like the football gods don't want Josh Jacobs to score a touchdown after he catches the ball, Like that's insane.
That's guy. I wonder if he thinks, I mean, surely you can't. There can't be a day that goes by. Why you don't think about that.
I mean, it's almost like you're probably doing yourself at a service because you're just thinking, if I'm going out here and I know the ball's coming to me, I got get it. I gotta break this streak. I got to get the monkey off my back. Also, this is this is crazy. Daniel Jones, who if you remember, has signed a four year, one hundred and sixty million dollar
deal with the Giants. That deal was signed I think last year maybe, but he since signing that deal last year, has three pick sixes in only two touchdowns since he signed that contract, more pick sixes than touchdowns. Since the Giants invested one hundred and sixty million dollars. That's insane. Saquon Barkley, he had three touchdowns for the Eagles in his debut. He had three touchdown once in a seventy
six game span with the Giants. And that's a sore subject anyways, because you know the Hard Knocks episode that showed that showed the I think it was the GM might have been the I think it was the GM who was basically saying, we cannot let Sekwon Barkley end up with a division rival with the Giants or I'm sorry with with the with the Eagles, And sure enough, that's where he ended up, and he bawled out in
his first game. In another sad stat, the Carolina Panthers are now are now one in forty in their last forty one games when their opponents scores at least seventeen points. Think about that. Seventy points is not a lot of points in the NFL, and the Panthers have only won one game in their last forty one when their opponents have scored at least seventeen points in a game. The Cleveland Browns will continue their absurd lead in not starting two and oh So they have not started two and
oh since nineteen ninety three. The Colts are in are the second team that has The last time the Colts started to oh was in two thousand and nine. So this is I mean, every other team in the NFL from two thousand and nine on has has at least started two and oh once in that timeframe. The Browns have not started two and oh since nineteen ninety three. Were you you were born then ninety seven? Yeah? Goodness gracious.
What's crazy though?
Too?
You haven't mentioned this one yet, but the Colts going eleven straight years? Is that winning their opener? That's crazy?
Yeah, it's not that crazy, just I mean eleven years two thousand.
That was a freshman in high school.
So check one more stat for you. Baker Mayfield has more passing touchdowns than Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes since he joined the ball the Buccaneers. I was gonna say the Ravens. He's not with the Ravens. I mean that that's one of those things that like, really that's a short time frame because he's not been with him that long. But think about that, like that's we put Alan and Mahomes up there as like, you know, God's gift of being a cock. I mean, I don't, but a lot
of people do, right, and those guys are great. But since and again this is a little bit misleading because Deshaun Watson, who, by the way, is now facing another sexual assault allegation. Worst contract in history pro sports, and I'm not sure they'll ever be another one because Deshaun Watson's not going to succeed in Cleveland and he probably will get waved or cut and not play in the NFL again because who's taking on a guy with that baggage?
And like Browns fans like, you know, they're all coming for him now. But like, let's not mean, like the Browns fans, what are they gonna do? They want to believe that this guy is going to lead them to success. So like initially they were supportive of Deshaun Watson being you know, horned up for a tug job like that's I mean, that's you know, they were embracing it right, lean into it. What are you gonna do? He's our quarterback.
Now they're like, get him out of here. I mean, like, I don't have a lot of sympathy for Browns fans claiming that, you know, they should get rid of this guy whenever they were, you know, showing up to tailgate last year with a mannequin laying on a massage table at the tailgate and a towel over the private parts. I don't know what was under there, something to make it look as if the mannequin had an erection and it said happy endings aren't illegal. Chill out, like I mean,
you know, you lean into it a little bit. That's a little much. So I don't have a lot of sympathy for the Browns fans. But Deshaun Watson has eight touchdowns for the Browns, whereas Baker since he's been with Tampa has thirty eight. Not a good trade off there, and it wasn't technically a trade, but you know what I mean. All right, last thing I want to do really quickly here, So I'm trying not to be long winded here before I lay this out. Not as long
winted as I was earlier when I played it. But the Kentucky football situation is fascinating to me, and that is the fact that like I think their fans have kind of finally realized, Yeah, Mark Stoops has done a great job. He could lose every game the rest of this year and retire or leave, and we'd still say we appreciate everything he did for Kentucky and that's legit.
No backhanded compliment there, Like that's legit. But like they kind of now know, like there's no excuse for Kentucky to be as bad as they were last year and even this year, to come out in the first SEC game and get embarrassed on your home field against the team that you know you're better than. So I just think it's if they continue to struggle this year, which they probably will not because they're terrible. Maybe they are terrible, but they don't have terrible players, but they have a
really tough schedule. And that was that's a game. If you want to get to a ball you got to you feel like you need to win against South Carolina.
You didn't win, you got embarrassed. So you've got Kentucky fans I think now, not not taking shots directly at stud I mean Kentucky fans are, but I shared with you a video from earlier that was I'll just back up as quickly as I can and not make it as long winded, but there is a barstool Kentucky account that shared a video that shows John Somerall, who's now the coach at where Tulane. He was an assistant for
Kentucky under Mark Stoops. Then he got the head coaching job at Troy, did well there, turned that into the job at tu Laney's in his first year there. Now a lot of Kentucky fans would love to see him be the successor to Mark Stoops. Whenever that happens. Well, somebody shared yesterday. Nick Rouse, by the way, shared the quote from Mark Stoops that said, I think we get to go. I think we get to go play for
the top six teams in the coming weeks. That's a joy being sarcastic, and clearly that's not good for anybody to go play for the top six teams in the next you know, two months or so. Well, the Barstool Kentucky account shared this clip of John summerl and it's not directed. I mean it's not They didn't tweet at Kentucky Football or Stoops or Vince Marrow, but Vince Marrow saw it speak come.
Good for me tonight and today some tis come five may.
Now get for five.
Night.
So again that's just somebody tongue in cheek indicating that they're they'd rather have a guy that's motivated and eager to you know, to go fight and compete, rather than Stoops making kind of like a you know, a harmless remark about how it's sarcasm. Clearly he's not happy about having to go play these teams. So anyways, Vince Merrow responded to the Barstool Kentucky tweet with a simple lol, which is just unnecessary, Like it's not a huge deal,
but it's just it's not a good look. And I feel like if they're already this thin skinned from criticism after losing the way they did thirty four to six to South Carolina on their home field, like, what are they gonna do whenever fans really start to call for Stoops's head, if they really struggle this year against a really challenging schedule. And the answer to that, you know,
remains to be seen. But I wanted to play this for Kentucky fans because I think even those that love Stoops and still maybe believe that he should be the guy long term, maybe they feel as if the season can be salvage and they may end up winning eight
games or something like that. This guy t Bob Hebert, who is a former SEC lineman who now does a pot He does radio done in New Orleans, but he also does a podcast with Aaron Murray, former Georgia quarterback, covering SEC in college football for the Volume Network, which is Colin Cowherd's network. And I just feel like even Kentucky fans who love Stoops and hate me because I'm even talking about this, I don't think you could disagree with anything this guy says. And also, not only is
he spitting facts, I thought it was really funny. Davis says, Team Bob, why are you so critical of Mark Stoops? Kentucky's a very hard place to win. How many games do you expect him to win every year?
Oh?
You pulled that bear. Let's go to you.
Here we go. Look, all I'm saying is, Brad you are you are gaslighting Kentucky fans. If Syracuse can be out here looking this good and winning games and having great quarterback play, why can't Why can't Kentucky? You don't have money? You pay Mark Stoops eight million dollars a year, nine million, whatever it is. And in a decade the man is beating teams have finished with a winning SEC record, twice, both the teams finished five and three. It's it's, it's
it's again the analogy I used on Sunday Show. It means so true. Kentucky fans are being served a pilot and they're like, god, you know, they're eating it. They're picking out their teeth. They're like, guys, I think this, like I think I'm eating poop right now. And everybody's like, no, no, no, no, that's not. In fact, it's what you deserve. That is the best food that you can possibly get. And poor Kentucky fans are like, yeah, you know, you're right, You're right.
This isn't bad, this is fine. Oh look at this.
Oh there's a little colonel.
In there that says we beat Louisville every year. Okay, great, I'll keep eating this. And I'm out here saying, no, you have the money. Okay, you've done the Mark Stoops experience. You've seen how it can max out. And the age of nil and the transfer portal, the ceilings on what schools can be have changed drastically. We just put the old Miss Rebels in the true national championship contender category. That was impossible for this age because you couldn't recruit
at a high school. Okay, Kentucky can be better than what they are and what they have been. They get be better than running at seventeen times in a row and then missing a third and three slant to settle for their second field goal in a row, losing to South Carolina at home thirty one six. So all you telling me, oh, Kentucky fan should be heavy, you can talk.
Don't be mad to me.
I'm your champion, I'm your best friend.
I want better for you. I mean, I feel like he was spot on, and I'm not sure any you know, you may not like to hear, but I think it's the truth. All right, here's what we're doing. We're gonna give away two tickets to Brooks and Done. They're bringing their Kneon Moon tour to the KFC You'm Center in April, and I've got tickets to give away this week. We'll give away our first pair. Uh coming up here on
the other side if you want to win them. Five oh two, five seventy nine hundred is the number again, five oh two, five to seven to one seventy nine hundred. As we've got a pair of tickets to see Brooks and Done. To give away Don't go anywhere, keep it locked right here on Sports Talk seven ninety All right, so we are giving away tickets the rest of this week to see Brooks and Dunn at the KFCM Center when they bring their Neon Moon Tour to the YOUM
Center on April twenty sixth. So our first giveaway will be right now, and I have full phone lines here and the first two to get through will be able to participate in this trivia contest. It's gonna be multiple choice, so you know you got a twenty five percent chance of getting it right. So if you're on hold and
somebody drops off, I would stick around. So, like, if you don't hear your name called right now, you know you can hang up, do whatever you want, but just know that, like if somebody drops off or there's some kind of an issue, you could be next in line. So the first two to get through are Lee and David. Tony and Todd are on deck. So again I'm gonna give each of you, Lee and David four different questions that are Louisville football trivia related. Whoever ends up getting
the most right wall win. If we have a tie, then we'll figure out some kind of a tie breaker. So Lee, are you with me? Yes?
Sir?
Hello?
Lee? David are you there? Yeah? All right, we got both of you guys. We're gonna start with you.
Lee.
Who is the all time leading passer in U of L football history? Is it a Teddy Bridgewater, b Lamar Jackson, C. Chris Redman or d Brian Brohm? So again, all time leading passer for UL football? Bridgewater, Jackson, Redman or brom who's your guess? Who's your answer?
I'm going to go Brian Brohm?
Incorrect? It is it is Chris Redmond. So now we move, Now we move to Uh. That was Lee, right, So now we got David just making sure. So David, in what year did the Louisville Cardinals win their first ever bowl game? Was it A nineteen fifty seven, B nineteen seventy, C. Nineteen ninety three or D two thousand and one? Again, Louisville's first ever bowlwin nineteen fifty seven, nineteen seventy, nineteen ninety three or two thousand and one. You want to
go ninety three? Incorrect? It is nineteen seventy. So we're starting fresh here with more questions. We're still tied up. No answers correct just yet. But let's get back to it. Who holds the record for the most rushing touchdowns in a single season at Louisville. Is it a Lamar Jackson, B Balal Powell, C. Michael Bush or d Javian Hawkins Again? Most rushing touchdowns in a single season at Louisville Lamar Black, Pale Bush or Javian Hawkins. I'm gonna go Bush, that
is correct. And that was because they're on the air, their names aren't showing up. I know Lee was first. Okay, so that was Lee who got that correct. Just making sure, all right, So now we go to David. David who did answered that it was yeah, I'm sorry, yeah.
Because yeah, I didn't know who you were who you meant because you didn't say you ordinate.
Wellought we were just going back and forth.
We should have been more clear about that.
I understand, all right, So what do I do now? I guess I just now, So that was David that got that, got it correct? Yeah it should have been so yeah, so David just went Now it's going to be Lee's turn. So here we go. Who did Louisville play in their first ever ACC Conference game in twenty fourteen A Clemson B. Florida State C. Miami or D Virginia Virginia incorrect, It was Miami. So John helped me out. Here we have David with one correct and Lee not.
Lee just dropped off Lee. Lee's out. Lee said the hell with this? So technically we would go, how do we do this? Because he's off?
So now, because you know, let me see if someone's calling, let me see if it's him or it's somebody.
See, I see this is great. Any telling me do live trivia contest. These are the kind of things that happen. So Lee dropped off David uh is still there in participating, and David has one correct. We need to figure John is it a different guy?
Yeah?
Okay? So but I mean so now the next in line would be Tony. Correct, Yes it would be Tony. Let's throw Tony on. Tony. Are you with us? All right?
So?
I mean, I I don't know how to do this now because he hasn't been asked the same amount of questions. I was hoping that Lee would stick with us here. So because we we got back to back answers from David. How many has each person answered, David has answered three questions and he got one right, one correct. Are you sure or you're about to ask him a third question?
Okay, yeah, I only got to ask two, I think.
Okay, So should I go?
So?
Should I give Tony now the chance to answer two questions and see what happens there and then we start fresh?
Why not?
I mean? I feel like that's the best way to do this. Yes, all right, So Tony, are you ready?
I'm ready?
Which Louisville player set the school record for most career receptions A Harry Douglas, B. Devonte Parker, ce Arnold Jackson or D two to two at well? Again, most receptions in a career for Louisville Harry Douglas, DeVante Parker, Arnold Jackson or two two at well? What's your answer?
Parker?
Incorrect? It is Arnold Jackson who I had. I think that record will never be broken. So all right, we'll do one more, and that way we'll have each of them will have had two questions asked, and if they each get you know, that way we'll be starting fresh to where each of them will have one more. So let's all right once again, Tony, back to you, who was Louisville's first opponent in their inaugural season of football
back in nineteen twelve. A Kentucky, b Indiana, c Cincinnati or de Vanderbilt Again, first opponent, Lowe will ever played Kentucky, Indiana, Cincinnati or Vanderbilt.
Just we need Tony to answer.
Tony. Yes, it is Tony Cincinnati, Okay, and that is correct, and I think that was the first. Like, I don't think anybody tipped him off. So now we're tied. Each person has been asked three questions, and now we have one more round to go, and we'll go back now to David. David, what is the highest ap poll ranking the Louisville Cardinals have ever achieved in football? Is it a second, B third, C fifth or d eighth? Again? The highest ranking they've ever had in the ape pole? Yeah, incorrect,
it is, uh it is. The answer is the highest they got was in there were a second in the Apeo pole, and that actually came back in two thousand and six. All right, So now we go to Tony, and if Tony gets this right, he wins. Correct, all right, Tony. In two thousand and seven, Louisville quarterback Brian Brohm was drafted by which NFL team A The Green Bay Packers, b the Buffalo Bills, see the New York Giants, or d the New Orleans Saints Again Brian brom drafted in
two thousand and seven. Was he drafted by the Packers, the Bills, the Giants of the Saints.
The Giants?
Incorrect? Incorrect? It was the Green Bay Packers. All right, So here's what we're gonna do. I'm going to I mean, what's the best way to do this, John, because I think we should.
You should give one question. I was gonna say, if we can figure out who answers first, but we can't tell by their voices, who's who? Then then the first person and the answer could be the winner.
Okay, here's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna throw out a question and the first person who says the answer correct. I mean, do you know the voices? This where it gets tricked.
Tony give me your voice real quick, David, give me your voice.
All right?
I can tell them apart.
All right, tell me the amount the number of conference championships Louisville football has in their history? How many?
Five?
All right? That's incorrect? And that was Tony right, Yes, so David, you have a guess. You have a number? All right? The answer is eight, So therefore Tony was the closest. He is our winner. Stay on the line. We will get your information. Thanks to everybody for playing. Whoever who said six, I'm sorry, who said six? All right, okay, David, you're the winner. I'm sorry whoever said six was closest because it was a It got confusing.
Because you said David, so I thought you you were fine the first time. David is the winner.
Okay, all right, I will speak with him real quick. Okay, during the break, we gotta go to break here, we'll come back and wrap it up. Thanks everybody for playing. Keep it lock right here on Sports Talk seven ninety. People always get really upset whenever you know they didn't participate or they didn't get through like the text line. I'm sure there's many people on there that knew every answer to that, but they didn't want to call in,
and they're like, oh, could anybody not know that? Well? One, I wouldn't have got all those right, I'm serious. I would have got a lot of them right. I wouldn't have got all of them right. And when you're on the air and like you get at it. It's it's I don't want to act like it's a high pressure situation you really have nothing to lose, but like freezing up, not even because of nerves, but just because you're overthinking it, Like that's a real thing. I would have got Redmond
right about all time passing leader. I would have guessed nineteen seventy for the Bowl win, which would have been correct, but it would have just been a guess. Rushing touchdown in a single season at Louisville, loved Mychael Bush. I would have guessed Lamar Jackson, but it was Bush. When did Louisville play the first ever ACC? Who did Louisville play? I would have known that that was probably the easiest one, just because it was such a rememorable thing. Bobby's back,
Louisvill's in the ACC and then the career receptions. I would have got correct because I did because Arnold Jackson played so long ago. But he I haven't looked at the record books in a while, but I feel like he that's a record one of the many that you look at and just think to yourself, there's a good chance that's never beaten and then first opponent, I knew it was Cincinnati highest AP pole, I would have guessed third.
I would not have guessed second. But they did get up to number two in the AP pole back in two thousand and six, and I think it lasted one week because they lost to They lost to uh Rutgers right after beating West Virginia, which put him up to number two. And then the Packers with Brom I was I mean that would have that probably just my opinion. Of course that was no joke eighteen years ago when Brian was drafted, but I thought that was actually the
easiest one. But again, that doesn't mean it's easy for everybody else and doesn't mean I'm smarter than you. It's just like I remember, like I'm sure a lot of you have some random piece of information that like you can't even really figure out why, but like you would know random facts. Tomorrow, I'll make it not not about Louis football. It'll be a different way we give it away. I'm not sure how we're gonna do it, but we're
gonna do it. And you know, best of luck to everybody who tries to win tickets to see Brooks and done.
