It's time for Coffee and Company, fueled by Thornton's on Sports Talk seven ninety. Holy crap, I don't know who the hell we think when we are get off our show, idiots, the kids are playing or trail off. The countries are screwing it up. Gold Play Inner Murals, Brother, gold Play Inner Murals. They're supposed to be mature adults, but they're really not. Who's the kid here? Who's the kid here? Are you kidding me? Now? Here's nick Coffee. I think I can get away with saying

this right Welcome into a game day edition of Coffee and Company. Fueld Beth Thornton's right here on Sports Talk seven ninety. It is game day, Louisville TBT the Ville. I keep saying Louisville. I've never been a big fan of just referring to Louisville as the vill like, I know, that's kind of you know, I mean, I know, it's the thing. It's just not something that's ever been you know, something I use a lot of. But it's gamed Ay TBT the second game as the Bill will take on

Sideline Cancer at seven o'clock at Freedom Hall. Looking forward to being back out there Saturday was awesome. Certainly a lot to unpack from that, and here's to hoping they can they can keep it rolling along. So again, welcome in. Hopefully everybody had a good weekend. I'm here for the next well, I'm here for this week and then I'm out. I mean, I'll be back eventually, but I've got my last vacation of the year. In fact, I think only we'll have maybe two days left to use, so

you know, hopefully, I mean, here's the thing. I'm gonna be gone while Louisville, of course, is playing in the Bahamas. You know, the actual Louisville team, Pat Kelsey's first squad, which you know they'll be I'll miss. I'll miss out on that. I can still watch it, but you know, well, I say I can still watch it. I'm not sure if anybody's gonna be able to watch it, but I would

imagine we'll find out for sure. Maybe I can reach out to somebody and say, hey, is there any plan to try to get these games in the Bahamas on television? And if not, then I really won't miss anything, because you know, I'll just be reacting to highlights that they produce and

whatnot. But still that'd be fun to you know, to be able to discuss and certainly I can discuss it when I get back, but I feel like, for the most part, the goal of getting you know, all the vacation days out of the way before we get to you know, the real you know, whenever, you know, I'm trying to think of the right way to describe it, because to me, it's like the best It's not the best time of the year, but it's it's the new year to

me. Right, new year didn't start in January for me. New year starts for me whenever we get another year of sports that are underway, which first you get college football, then you get the NFL, then you get college basketball, and then it all rolls on until early April when college basketball concludes, and then you know, Derby, and then I feel like once Derby ends, like that's when it's like all right, here we go there the summers here, and you know, there's always stuff to discuss. Sometimes

big news breaks. I mean, heck, Louisville and Kentucky both had new coaches once college basketball season ended. But yeah, I'll be gone next week, just to give you a heads up. You'll hear me mention that throughout the week, just to remind you. And you'll be in good hands because I'm pretty sure we have now a regular plan when I'm not here, which is we get Scott Fitzgerald to fill in whenever he's available to. I think he's going to do it a few days and then the old, the old

underdogs will be uh will be filling in and whatever capacity they can. So again you'll be in good hands. All right. Again, we are fueled by Thornton's make sure you sign up to become a member of the Refreshing Awards program if you haven't already. You'll save money at the pump and you'll be able to take advantage of all the perks that come with it. So download the app today. If you haven't already, you can get it on your

smartphone or you can go to Refreshing Awards dot com. All right, So the acc Conference media days are going on right now, and man, how fitting is it that Jim Phillips, you know he had I mean, it's

pretty much the state of the union for the league. Whenever the commissioner is talking at the annual Conference Football Media And they did not carry it live on I mean, the decision not to carry it live on the ACC network has to be because of a technical issue, because I don't see any scenario where anybody, any spokesman Jim Phillips himself, like nobody from the ACC can claim that it was a plan and it was a good idea to have him talk

and not have it live on their own network. So apparently you could have found it on it and that's what makes me think, makes me think that they really didn't have a plan to put it on the actual ACC network live because it was available on a stream which I guess was the ACC Network Extra, which is essentially the watch ESPN app, and it didn't work then because

of technical difficulties. So maybe they tried to throw it to the stream because they didn't want to be on live television and have all those issues and it still didn't work. I don't know. But you really did have incentive to be there today because you're the only people that heard what the Commissioner had to say. And I'm sure there were reporters media people that were there and they probably recorded and filmed the whole thing because some people do that, So I'm

sure it'll serface at some point. But if you wanted to tune in today to hear live what the commissioner had to say about the future of the ACC, as that's of course been a big talking point for well over a year now, the league itself could not provide that to you. I mean, how fitting is that for the ACC? And I do know of some things that Philip said, just because of some of the quotes out there, and this guy still parading around like people need to be throwing a party for being

in third place in league revenue. I mean, it's just I've never heard somebody brag about third place as much as Jim Phillips. And yeah, there's no realistic path for the ACC to put themselves in a position where they're ever going to make more money than the big ten of the SEC. We all know that. But how about like a little how about a little fire,

like somebody get him a beer or something like. He needs to be motivated, He needs some energy and some motivation to at least you lie to us, right, like you know, lie to the league members and say, look, we understand that that there's a gap there, and that GAP's only going to get bigger and in fact, it's never been more important to make sure you're putting away a lot of money each year as a university, because now we're gonna have to pay the players. However, rest assure we're gonna

turn over every stone. We're gonna be innovative, We're gonna be creative. We're gonna find every opportunity we can out there to bring more revenue to our league members. Do I sound like a commissioner? Do I sound like I'm fit for the job, because he's an empty suit And I didn't hear him today. I just saw the quotes, but I already know what he sounded like. I mean, he's lifeless. So yeah, third place is better

than fourth. But man, I've just never seen someone just be so content with that and basically be offended that people are questioning, like, hey, what are you gonna do to you know, bring more revenue to the league. But we're in third place. We make the third most revenue. I mean, like we know that, but you're gonna probably drop to fourth if you're not careful, And even if you are in third, like, how about you become a closer third than you currently are and not get you know,

tripled up like it potentially could at some point. So again, I'm not sure you never really know what to take from the ACC conference media, I mean, any media days, to be honest with you, But Jim Phillips talked earlier, and the ACC itself, the League could not give that to us unless you were there. I mean, if you're just a fan

that wanted to hear it, you couldn't hear it. I mean, media members can get credentialed and whatnot and make the trip, but like, let's just say you just wanted to hear you wanted to turn on the ACC network and watch it. The League failed at doing that also. I mean, I don't know how much it'll come up today on the show because I really

don't have anything to add as far as like analysis. Certainly not a big I don't have much of a reaction at all, but the fact that Joe Biden has stepped out of the elect upcoming election, I mean, he's still going to serve out his term as president. But that's like that's a huge piece of news. I mean, I don't don't think anything like that's ever happened in my lifetime. So I'm sure what I'll do, We'll just give

you the floor. John, how about five o'clock you just want to take over and you share your thoughts on my political well yeah, yeah, tell us what you think the Democratic Party should do moving forward. Who you feel the most confident in. I'm kidding, but I mean that is a big that's a big story. And once we actually have football basketball going on, like it probably won't come up as much on the show, and it really

hasn't dominated the show by any stretch of the imagination. But let's be real here, even though we're going to have the things we love to distract us once we get to football season, this is an insane election coming up, and it's gonna I mean, in fact, it's gonna bleed into sports like we know that, right. I'll tell you one thing that would make it, you know, bring more attention to this state, specifically as if Andy

Basher ends up being a running mate. Yeah, and I'm far from you know, the best person to ask if that, but that would mean that that's something I've at least looked into as far as what's being reported, not that I'm making calls like I have any sources, and it sounds I know he did say earlier today, he'd be open to listen that kind of stuff,

But I haven't actually heard. I've heard people around here throw it out there because he is very popular within his party, and you know, I'm a big fan of Vandybsheer, but I've not actually heard anybody covering you know, the pole. You know, this is this election for one of the big networks that has that has thrown his name out there. But that would

be something, wouldn't it. And I feel like even if that doesn't happen this time around, like it seems like it's bound to have, like yeah, like in twenty twenty eight, Like I could see him being it depending on who wins this election. Yeah, that's that's certainly a big factor. But yeah, so I just I I find myself reacting to the reaction, but not like in anger or surprise, Like, but this is the kind

of thing that just people get nuts about. And I don't want act this look like you couldn't you shouldn't care, because you know, should it's important, you should vote right, Like, it's not that it's not important, But like I guess, I just I just I don't want to say that I have the ability because it's not really an ability. It's just something I guess I choose to do. And I'm sure others would probably do it if

they could, because they'd probably be happier. But those that just lose their mind on the internet about every little thing that one side does, I'm not kidding you, and I tell you that I actually find that to be like entertaining, Like I find it to be funny, like people losing their minds, and you know, I just I sit back and find maybe not it's amusing to me. It's not something that I'm you know, like celebrating.

Oh, people are nuts, but let's be honest. When people get nuts, there's usually people that find themselves flocking to that because it's something to be wholey, you know, something, it's something to see. So again, I don't bring that up to say we're gonna you know, run through at the next two and a half hours, but it is a huge story across

the country and of course the world. Also, we have some good news when it comes to things we can consume until get to you know, football season, because Netflix is once again going to give us three different sports documentaries in the next month, and it's it's a part of their Untold series, which is basically Netflix's version of thirty for thirty, And I haven't seen many if actually, I can't think of a thirty for thirty that I've watched that

I didn't really enjoy. There are somewhereas you know, the subject, the topic, subject matter, it just wasn't something that I was that interested in. But they're so well done. And I say the same thing about the Untold series I think they've had. I mean, the one they did on man Titeo was phenomenal, The one on Johnny Manziel was really really good.

I know a lot of people were underwhelmed with the Tim Tebow Florida Gator era, but like, actually, I mean even though it wasn't what you probably wanted it to be as far as you know, people airing out dirty laundry from the time that that team was at Florida when they had you know, a murderer on campus led by you know, mister Jesus himself, Tim Tebow at quarterback, Like it was just kind of weird, but it was still well done. And now they're gonna give us one on Connor Stallions the Science

Steeler, and that's that is gonna be phenomenal. It's got to be the first time he's been in front of a camera. But I mean, this thing's already been done. I mean it's already been done, and I guess now they're probably doing post production, finishing up, and it'll be out before too long. They're also gonna do another They're also gonna do one on Steve McNair, which I mean, that was a crazy story when that happened many

years ago, when he was murdered. But I kind of feel like, have the new cycle and really the internet been you know then what it is now that that would have been. I mean, that's if you're somebody that really is. I mean, it's a very tragic and sad thing that happened. But the true crime genre dominates this country in every way right now when it comes to television, podcasts, I mean, it's it's huge movies,

documentaries, that kind of stuff. And I feel like, you know, if you know the details, and I know, you know, I mean I read about it when it happened, and I've read about it since then. But I would imagine throughout this documentary, we'll find out more that we didn't know. And I just think it's going to be really well done. Of course, it's not a really sad situation, but that got me excited. And then again, this is something that we'll certainly mention as far as

some of the numbers. But like Carl League Jones doing what he did, putting up a triple double against Team USA for South suit Anne, like that alone should get Car League Jones a guaranteed contract in the NBA. I mean, he's a super talented guy who has had a really good pro career at every level. He played for the Bulls briefly, I think on a two way, spent time in the G League. I think he played in China last year. And he delivers at such a high level no matter where he

plays. And that's been the situation that's been Carleague Jones since he was in high school. I mean, he was a really really good player in Cincinnati going up there. By the way, I think his high school coach where he went to high school in Cincinnati, I can't think of the name of it. I think he's actually a coach in Louisville now at Eastern High School. But anyways, Carl League grades were an issue and nobody knew if he'd qualify. Sure enough, he did. He ends up going to Radford,

had a phenomenal career there and came to Louisville. And you know, that was one of another one of those guys that you didn't have to I mean right away, I think you felt pretty good about not having to worry is he going to be able to carry over the production from Radford to the ACC because he did in a major way. And then again, since he's been in the pros, he's been really good. And nobody's ever put up a

triple double against Team USA. And I'm glad that Team USA won because obviously, you know, you want you want your country to win in anything. But there's also part of me that was kind of sad for South Sudan because they were right there, they had it, and it doesn't really it's not a real game, right, I mean it, Well, this didn't have any impact on the actual metal situation when we get to the Olympics, so I kind of felt bad for them, But then again I felt awful,

like why would I feel bad if the United States wins? But it's because of car League and some of the other things we'll get into later today. Because actually think this was. What makes it such a great story is that you know, lou all dang former mb A player, went to Duke. I mean, he had a great pro career. I mean his work towards you know, making basketball a bigger thing in his country and making it a priority and helping get you know, kids interested in the game, giving them

resources to to learn and develop and play basketball. It's a great story. And to see, you know, how far they've come just in you know, the last ten years or so with with a lot of what lu Albing did is is great. And that's why that's why I kind of felt sad for them not to have that moment because it was right there. So we'll get into that in a lot more. If you guys want to be a part of the show that you can don't forget, you can text in five

Just know you can take us with you listen live on the AUR Radio ap listen

live at seven ninety Louisville dot com. So when we get back from this first what we'll do is we will we'll talk a little bit about Saturday's game. You know, I do some thoughts on what we saw from the Ville. We can also, you know, discuss tonight's matchup. I mean, I won't lie to you like I've got a ton of information on the team they played tonight. Although there were a couple of guys we talked about last week that I mentioned that are from Louisville, that that are going to be

playing in this game tonight for Sideline is it Sideline cancer Cancer. So but before we do that, I got to ask you, John, you last night got to take in and I guess on Friday as well. I mean that you, I mean, this was your first experience kind of going in blonde, watching your former Hoosiers play in this kind of event. What did

what did you make of it? I thought it was pretty cool. The first round they played Valparaiso, or you know, the alum of Valparaiso ended up being a pretty a lot closer of a game than people kind of expected to be. But Jogi Ferrell had himself a night. I think he had about twenty four points in that first game, and that was just really cool to see. And then in the second game you had a few more guys play better. I think Juwan Morgan did pretty well. They played Men of

MACKI the Purdue a love. Yeah, I mean, it's essentially a game in the TBT, is it not. Yeah, it was a little awkward to watch, just because you know, it wasn't an actual rivalry game. I mean it was because they you know, they all used to be on their respective teams, but the environment wasn't the same. There were fans there. It's not like it was an empty arena or anything like that, but it was definitely a different style of environment to see all and it's just it.

I mean, I think awkward is an appropriate word because it's just something you never would have envisioned ever happening. Like, yeah, it's almost like something you would see be like a charity event or something. Yeah, but it's better than that. Not to say that charity is not great, but like this is something to where like it's high level, like I mean,

it's they're not just doing this for fun. It is fun. In fact, I think that's where the awkwardness comes in for these guys is because you know they want to win, because honestly, it's huge for their livelihood. And I don't think they'd even be in the position to be in the situation and have the careers that they've had if they aren't competitors that want to win every time they hit the floor. But balancing that for as a player has to be something that takes a little bit of time to get used to.

I would say by now these guys are it's it's normal. But I think even Louisville on Saturday, and I'm not saying that that's why the Bellamont team had them down at halftime. And honestly, I give those guys a lot of credit. I mean, they were they came out, they were well coached, they knew the way they needed to play in order to give themselves

a chance to win, and they did exactly that. So trust me, I'm not acting as that those guys didn't come out and play their ass off, but I think it's awkward for everybody involved because you would have I mean it's just it's an unthinkable thing five six years ago, right, like maybe not maybe I guess longer than that, because event, the event's been around

for a long time. But you you know, being there in person or even watching on TV, all these former players, some that played together at the same time, some that played in different eras, and it's on telling me it's a full production, right like we're doing this at Freedom All, still a phenomenal arena by the way, and you know you're watching it on

Fox or FS one, like that's that's that's a big deal. And it's just I don't know, awkward, weird, Like I hate to use those words because it does kind of sound like I like, you know, like it's a negative thing to say about the event. It's just it's just different. And I did enjoy it. But there were there were times during the game, especially when they face the Men of Mackie in the second round, where neither team could hit a shot. And you know, you've talked about

how this is kind of like pick up style basketball. There are a lot of times during this where it really feels like this, well, see I don't think it's pick up Well, it can get to be a little unorganized, yes, but yeah, in that aspect, I guess it would mean when you say pick up basketball, I feel like maybe that would mean that it wouldn't be like it's not as competitive, it's kind of just whatever.

But as far as pick or unorganized, yeah, because even if these guys have been working together for a couple of weeks putting some sets in, like, it's not like they've been practicing for months and they've been you know what I mean, Like it's so I mean, guys not making shots, silly turnovers. I mean, there were some other games, not the not not the games with local teams, but actually it might have been the game on

Friday night when Kentucky played. They had a guy from the team that they beat that just decided he was going to get thrown out because he was mad, and luck, you know, because it was over. So like it's not like you're watching teams, you know, in the Big Dance that are marching towards the national championship, but they're you know, I can't put into I can't put into words why it's so awesome, but it is like Saturday was so much fun at Freedham Hall. The nostalgia I mean seeing the players

get energized playing in front of fans once again. And I mean there were roughly six thousand people there for Saturday's game. I mean, let's be real, I bet these guys have played countless professional games in other countries or in the G League with crowds there are nowhere near that big, so you know, and these and the people that are there on Saturday, Freedom Hall are there you know, for them specifically. So I love it and I'm hopeful

they can get a win the night, although it's gonna be tough. I mean, I have no problems saying I'm glad they were able to pull it together and make it work. But you know, I hope that they were shaking off some rust, maybe getting rid of some nerves, because you know, they're gonna have to play a lot better moving forward to Toil you get past tonight's team, I mean, you know, and they can, they have the ability to do so, but it just kind of fell a little

an organized at times. And you know, this is where this is where it's weird for me, Like this is I have a hard time being critical of the players in this game because it's not that that makes sense ye, because this isn't like it's not real. It's not real as far as like, you know, Louisville basketball, the program is going to significantly benefit from

anything that they do. But it's also unnatural to watch. You know, guys you watch for years here and when they're when they're struggling or they lose or something like, it's natural to be you know, unhappy and sad about it. But like you know, for me to turn on the microphone all man, I can't believe Peyton and see what played like craft last night, Like like he's a grown up with a family who's just out here. You know, he's you know, it's it's just different. That's where that's where

it's awkward for me. However, it's hard to turn that off. Like the fans that that I was around, they weren't booing or anything, but like, no, like this this is different than watching Louisville play on it, you know, a Saturday in January when they're playing an acc team. Certainly it's not the same thing. But you know, there's no way to to to you know, rewire yourself to to to not react the way you react when you watch your Louisville Cardinals play former Current whatever, right, Like

it's just it's the same thing. So fans were a little uneasy because Bellerman was giving it to them. Now, if they win, this is the next game Kentucky or is that the game after, so Louisville will have to win two more Kentucky's already won two. So here's how it breaks down. In the Louisville region, they'll play, you know, they play Sideline Cancer tonight. If they win that one, then they'll play the winner of Team

d r C and Team for DET. So, just for what it's worth, the number one seed Team Diesel lost their first game to Team d r c UH and then Team for Debt knocked off Run DFW. Who is the four seeds, So you know two of your top four seeds did not did not make it past the first game. So Sideline Cancer and Louisville are are

the two highest remaining scenes left. So again the seating, as we discussed last week, like you really don't know like how accurate it is, but you know, I put it this way from what I've seen, and it's not like I've watched every second, but I've seen In fact, I've seen Sideline Cancer has been around for years. In this event. The belief is that if you win tonight, like you can't coast and just expect to get past these other two teams without much trouble. But sideline cancer is your toughest

opponent to get out of this pod. And here's the thing. If you win these next two, easier said than done. And Kentucky wins their next game, which will be which will be tomorrow at nine o'clock on FS one against the Marshall team, then Louisville will host again at Freedom Hall and it'll be Louisville and Kentucky. And there's no scenario where when that game takes place that that's not when the records broke, no scenario. It's seven thousand.

You were about oney twelve hundred off of it on Saturday, like Kentucky fans will show up like it'll be a big deal, which I'm hopeough that's the case. But again, what's got to win two more games? I don't go anywhere. It's coffee and company. We are fueled by Thornton's right here

on Sports Talk seven ninety. All right, so I would say right now, the biggest piece of news and I guess you can call it a piece of news from the ACC media days that are going on in Charlotte, is that the future of the league, as far as it not including Florida State or Clemson, doesn't look like that's happening anytime in the immediate future because they're I mean again, I call it a piece of news because it has been talked about. These two schools are suing the league, and the league is

countersuing, which makes it just a mess. However, you know they're they're not leaving at least not you know, not anytime soon, because they have to notify the conference by a certain date. Yeah, so it says here this is from Pete Tamil, and this is from earlier this morning. Since I've been told by multiple sources that there's no expectation for Florida State or Clemson to notify the ACC they intend to leave by the August fifteenth deadline to part

after the upcoming year. That's the deadline to declare intentions to exit for the twenty twenty five to twenty six season. So those two schools will be in the ACC this upcoming season, and they will be in the ACC the following season and probably for many years after that, but you know, they're going to fight it out in court for at least then, you know, for the next couple seasons. And again, why why I hesitate to kind of

say is that really news? Is because where would they go? I mean again, like they're not like, there's no invitation for them to go anywhere. And I think if they were somehow able to get out of this deal that they're in with the acc one, I mean, I feel like we

would, we would, there'd be some momentum heading towards that. And actually, if in fact, they felt like they were about to win in court, and even though it's going to take some time, they felt like they were going to win, maybe they would notify the league, you know what I mean, Like, maybe that's maybe that's a sign that they really don't feel strongly about their case. I don't know how they could. Again, it's a pretty straightforward arrangement, and I guess they're just going to spend a

ton of money with their lawyers. And we'll say this for Jim Phillips, it's not a good look to have these schools suing the league, and I think it is in his position, it's in his best interest to sort of, you know, call out their legal action as something that is damaging to

the league, but also understand that your league needs them. Like, that's not any when I give Phillips criticism in regards to like telling everybody to, you know, chill out because we're in third place as far as revenue share, I mean, third place is better than fourth, but there's only four places to be there's four major conferences left in college football. You're in the bottom half, and to be honest with you, that's not your fault.

There's not a single thing you can do to change that. And the grant of rights that is currently in place till twenty thirty six is something you inherited. It's nothing to do with Jim Phillips. But how about like just looking like you care that the rest of your league is a little worried that they're in third and that gap between one, two and three is going to grow

substantially. And there's a chance that if the Big twelve, if they're able to you know, continue to be innovative and you know, not afraid to throw sponsors on you know, the name of the league and that kind of stuff, they may jump you and put you in fourth place. And what is he gonna say, then, well, we're in fourth place. We're in fourth place. Well yeah, out of four, you're dead last,

dude. I mean, here's what he said. Here's what he had to say about the legal action that those two schools have taken against the league. This is from Let's see here. Well, I thought I had it pulled up here and I can't. I can't. Yah, here we go. This is from Andrew Adelson, who of course is on site at the ACC Football Media Days. For those who who missed it, The league network, the AEC network itself, did not have Jim Phillips's you know, Annual State

of the Union on their network for reasons I don't know. I still haven't been able to figure out if it was just because they didn't feel like it was worth putting on the network, which to me seems odd. But they were going to have it on a stream the ACC Network Extra, which is essentially watch ESPN, and even that didn't work. They had technical difficulties. So unless you were there, I don't think you heard anything that Jim Phillips

said. But again, this is from Andrew Edelson. Jim Phillips on the Clemson FSU lawsuits. Quote, we will fight to protect the ACC and our members for as long as it takes. These disputes continue to be extremely damaging, disruptive, and incredibly harmful to the league. The ACC deserves better, So that's from the leader, Jim Phillips. That's a tricky one though, because again, if they dropped their lawsuit, that would probably make life easier

for Jim Phillips. But you also can't you know, I mean, I don't know. That is where it would be tough to be a commissioner whenever you're in charge essentially, but you also you know that you need them, and anybody claiming you can just say all the hell with that, you guys leave, we don't need you. Like that's not the reality. It's just not true. So anyways, well, we'll get some more takeaways as far

as what's being said at ACC kickoff. I believe it'll be Wednesday when Jeff Brohm and the players are there and they'll talk to the media, and I'm sure there'll be some some things to take away from that. All Right, It's Coffee and Company fuel by Thornton's here on Sports Talk seven ninety appreciate you guys hanging out with us here on a Monday afternoon. Hopefully you had yourselves a good weekend. Let's go to the text line five two six five three

zero seven ninety that is the L and N Federal Credit Union. Text on this text says, Nick, are you a little worried about the Jack Golkie karma? I've been talking a lot of crap to Kentucky fans about this guy, and I can absolutely see it happening tonight. He comes out, lights us up and sends our boys home. I mean, if you believe in if you believe in karma, then yeah, that's a scenario where right here there are things that could could develop to where you get dealt a healthy dose

of karma. I'm not someone who truly believes in karma, you know, at least not the way a lot of other people do. Would this truly be considered karma? Because I mean, yes, yes, VAL's fault that had happened, you know, Yeah, that's I mean, it depends on how you looked at Jack Golkie. What I mean by that is, did you clown Jack Golki like as a Louisville fan, Like look at this old dude out there that looks like he should be doing your taxes instead of playing

in the DNSAA tournament. Like, can you believe this guy knocked out Kentucky? They suck because that's the way you went about it. Then you know, maybe he'll show you I don't suck, and I sent their team home from the tournament. I'll send your beloved former players who were part of a national championship packing too, Like I think we love Jack Golkie, so now we just got to like, you know, like it's it's uncomfortable to play him because you know we love him, you know what I'm saying, Like

I can get you know, so maybe it's not karma. But then again, trust me, Kentucky fans, if they're watching tonight, they'll be cheering for Jack Colchi to kill us, right, I mean that's just normal. Which like, honestly, I thought to myselves, or I thought to myself, I don't have to I'm one person. I thought to myself that I would want Kentucky's team to win in the tvt because I don't care what I

don't. I don't care about those guys at all. Like watching them play, it's not like, oh damn, there's you know, Kentucky's on. I hope they lose, but yet, you know, when I watched a little bit of their game on Friday, and then I watched a good chunk of it yesterday, I'm like, it's it's it's the instincts are still there when there's a team in white playing and up arena against a different team, like, you know, it's just it's second nature to just start cheering for

the other team. But the reason I said I didn't think I would care because actually would love for this game to happen, Like it would be so awesome to see both of these teams come out of their regions and them play Freedom Hall, Like it would be a huge un expected sports story in Louisville, in the state, you know, randomly in late July or early August,

whenever the game happens. And maybe I'm expecting too much, but again, first things first, they got to they gotta each win, Like Kentucky's gonna have a tough game tomorrow against a Marshall team that's been really good in this event. For quite some time, they looked like they were dead against war already. The Auburn team and then the elam ending man that made it a lot of fun where they went on a crazy run, came back and won it. And now they're one game away from getting to the to the

sweet sixteen of this event. So for Kentucky, you know they're gonna have a tough game and then Lowd's gotta win the night and on Wednesday, so you know we're not there yet, but I feel like you'll get ten thousand easy. At Freedom Hall. I thought they were going to be close to

the sellout. I think it was like fifty nine hundred is what they announced, and I looked around and you know, it wasn't completely full, but like from areas where you could buy tickets, like I wonder what full capacity is to them as far as like what they're selling, like what they are you know, staging the arena for because there's a lot of there's a ton of empty space behind each goal and the lower bowl, I mean the lower bowl's not full because the lower bowl doesn't have all I mean, like the

seats like behind the goals are not I mean that's what the lower bowl used to look like to me. And I'm sure I don't even know if it's what it looks like. Like. I don't know if what I saw on Saturday is how they have it set up for Bellarmin games or not, but I mean that would be huge. And I know they're recruiting, like Pat Kelsey's been all over the place recruiting. If he's in town to night, I'm sure he'll be there. I know a lot of the players were there.

In fact, I think the whole team was there on Saturday. But if these two teams get to the next round and they're playing each other, I just think it's going to be a really cool, kind of unexpected, out of nowhere, you know, thing for basketball fans around here to experience.

And I think you hit it on the head. A couple people have said this, John, like there's a little bit of awkwardness to it, because you know, it's not like you're watching your Hoosiers or watching your Cardinals or your or your Wildcats, but you also kind of are because they're always going to be that to you. And you know that like if you if you get upset, it's not going to lead Sports Center as if oh my god, these prominent programs can you believe they lost to you know, sideline

cancer. I mean, cause it's I don't know's it's just hard to put into words without like acting like the event isn't worth watching or anything like that, because I love it, Like I was into it. I felt alive watching them on Saturday because they had to come from behind. That Bellerman team had them on the ropes. And you know, I still think the nostalgia

is the biggest factor. Also, you know, this team for Louisville should be pretty good, and they were impressive enough to come from behind and win without a whole lot of trouble at the very end there during the elam ending. But also, you know, we haven't really felt alive as a fan

base watching Louisville basketball in any way. So this is, you know, if Louisville's got it rolling and they're i don't know, consistently making second weekend trips with the you know, well, maybe they get a Final four in the first ten years of Pat Kelsey's time here. I mean, who knows, that's a long way away. Then maybe there maybe this won't be something that we're so amped up for, but right now it is and I think it helps, you know, as far as these guys in this event.

So let's get too a quick break. We'll come back on the other side, keep it rolling along. So answer your question on the text line. I mean, I wouldn't I wouldn't call it karma. But you know we've seen what Jack Guilke can do if he gets loose, and you know he did it just a few months ago. Whereas we have guys who haven't played the NSTAA tournament in eleven twelve years. So, and I'll say that for the four o'clock hour, we're all old. I'm just gonna say it.

It doesn't sound it doesn't sound normal to say that, because you know, I watch these guys play. They're they're younger than me, but like we're old. I think we're probably one of the older teams in this event, if I'm being honest with you, All right, quick breaks, Coffee and Company. Feel about Thornton's right here on Sports Talk seven ninety. That's right, Coffee and Company rolling along here on a Monday afternoon, fueled by Thornton's

I'm sure you knew that. If not, now you do. And let me tell you, guys about my friends over the Louisville Men's Clinic, Fellas me again telling you that you need to make sure you're taking care of yourself. I know that sounds like I'm being a nag, and maybe I am, but I know that as good as you think you feel, you could probably feel better. You know. I know a lot of dudes are tough and they don't need any assistance, any enhancements, any you know, any

help, right because they're tough. And I get it. I know a lot of people like that myself. I'm not necessarily one of them, but Father Time's undefeated. And I don't mean you know you're ancient if you're in

your thirties or forties, because you're not. But when you get to be a certain age around thirty, sometimes it's a little earlier, depending on you know, everybody's different, but your body does not produce the amount of testosterone that you need, which is why low T is something you hear about all the time, and a lot of people, out of sight, out of mind, they don't know what it means. They don't think it could affect them because they just assume that it's something that is for you know, old

people, old dudes, and it's not. I was somebody that never would have thought I had low T because honestly, I didn't really know what it was. I just assume, yeah, I don't have to worry about that until I turned sixty. Well, I was misinformed because that's not the case.

So once I started to hear more about it, because of course, we are great partners with the Louis of Men's Clinic, and they inform everybody as best they can here in our family of stations that low test osterro is a real thing and you may not know what it is, but you should educate yourself. So I did that. I thought, you know what, maybe that's something I'm dealing with because I've lost my edge a little bit. I'm not as motivated to go to the gym, even though I still go,

but I'm lethargic. It's the last place I want to be because my workouts, I just feel like I'm not up to I'm not up to par. And that was because I had low testostro. Now I don't, So give them a call. FAB two four four four four thousand is the number. Check them out online Louisvimen's Clinic dot com and they can help you. And all you got to do is go and answer some of their questions. Doctor Wood will he'll you'll you'll have a consultation with him and he'll ask you

some questions. They'll check your levels and you'll go from there. And sometimes you know, you could have the symptoms and your levels may not be way off, and they'll they'll be able to give you the right dosage and get you squared away. For me, my levels were way off and not even anywhere close to where they needed to be for somebody my age. So again

Louivillman's clinic dot com FABO two four four four four one thousand. All right, I just saw here Bud Elliott, who does a good job covering college football for twenty four to seven Sports. It looks like he got his cell phone out and he was able to, uh, he was able to produce a video of Jim Phillips talking at the ACC kickoff, which they just they they chose not to put it on TV because I'm looking here from let's see, yeah, Chris Fanini, who's also there covering the ACC football media days

for the Athletic. You know, he says the the ACC network, whoever's in charge of it, I guess, opted to do analyst discussion from the

lobby while Jim Phillips was live at the Poet. So instead of hearing Jim Phillips essentially do his state of the union in the league, they opted to just have you know, the network guys no offense to them, maybe like an Eric McLane or something like that, just you know, chopping it up with a player who stopped by no offense to whoever that player was or that coach, like press conferences for the commissioner at conference media days, I would

say more often than not, or wouldn't be something that you would just be on the edge of your seat anticipating with excitement. But there's a lot of questions and I think we all know that Jim Phillips isn't gonna be able to give us the perfect solution to where everything is aokay in the acc looks like the future is bright and everybody's getting along. There's no more lawsuits, there's

gonna be enough money for everybody. Like that's not realistic, but given the fact that you know the league is in the situation that it's in, like you want to hear something from your leader. And one of the things that's always pissed me off whenever nobody was acknowledging what Louisville Basketball was going through with with Kenny Payne was those that would say, well, what do you want him to say? What was he supposed to say? What you want him

to say? I'm like, do you understand that? Like that job, a job where you are in a position of leadership, A big part of that job is when crap hits the fan, things are going wrong, you gotta you gotta mess on your hands. You're gonna have to get out in front of it and and and just eat it. And there's not gonna be a perfect statement. There's not gonna be a perfect answer to make it all

okay, but you know what that comes with the job. And to be fair, Phillips did show up today, he did take the podium, but the league didn't want anybody to hear it because they decided to just only put it on the ACC network stream and that didn't work. So now I'm curious. I wonder if it does exist, is there any legitimate you know, clips to uh to to pull from that. I mean again, I could I could play the one that uh that we have from who is it?

Bud Elliott? But I mean it's from his phone and he's thirty yards away from the commissioner. You can't hear him. I do have a quote here. This is from the David Glenn Show. Who's there covering it? This is from Jim phillips quote. Our footprint is now national, spanning coast to coast. The ACC now has a presence in each of the five most populated populated states California, Texas, Florida, New York, and Pennsylvania. There you go. No other power conference has more than two. Eat that SEC

and Big Ten. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it. Stanky was the Big Ten commissioner's name. Petit Yeah, eat that pe Tit. They do all have last names except for Jim Phillips. I guess for you because because he's a dork, I shouldn't be so mean to Phillips because, to be honest with you, he inherited everything. But again, like there's nothing, there's nothing that he's ever said in regards to like the actual quote,

the way he said he just to me does not give all. Like I don't see anybody in the league could feel like that their leadership is in a good spot with this guy. And look actions matter more than anything. We know that, but what action has he taken. It's like, actually, you know, he to me still has the hey, everybody chill out,

nothing to see here. And I'm not saying that the league's on fire and it's gonna burn to the ground, But how about the I mean, I would just think he would he would want to be eager to get in front of people and say, look, we understand that the climate's changing. Money's never been more important to schools because you're gonna need to pay players now and

we're in third place and that GAP's gonna get bigger. But you know what, we're gonna do everything we can to find as much revenue to split among our conference members as possible, and we won't stop until we can. You know, will never stop trying to be as competitive as we can with the

first and second place teams when it conferences when it comes to revenue. I mean, that wasn't It wouldn't have been a great statement, but like something along those lines, right, instead of just hey, we're in third place out of four loser he
