It's time for coffee and company, fueled by Thornton's on Sports Talk seven nine day. Now here's nick coffee. All right, let's do it. Let's get hour number two started here, the four o'clock hour coffee and company, fueled by Thornton's on a Sports Talk seven ninety appreciate you hanging out with us? Can we get it? Started with some some I don't know how to describe this, but there's a story here that I just read from a website
that is called Alpha m dot com. I assume that means Alpha Male, which isn't a website that I would typically frequent, and I don't I've never heard of it. But I saw this link pop up here on one of our show prep sites, and it says lessons guys learn learn way too late in life. And I feel like this we could use the platform here, John to share lessons that others learn way later that if you learn now on the younger side, it could really benefit you as a man. Let's do
it. I'm ready. So some of these I'm not gonna read all of them, but there's some bullet points here. Money and stuff are both nice, but they're not golden tickets to personal bliss. The greatest success comes from building solid and dependable relationships with quality people. I think that's good advice. I think that's true. It's hard to ignore, you know, financial stability
and stuff like of course, I think, you know, money. At this point in my life, what I would love more than anything about having a lot of money, which I don't, would just be the security and not because money's one of the bigger things people in the world. I mean, that is money not what most humans stress more about than anything I would assume. Yeah, I think that's very I mean, it's the biggest, say, it's the biggest, one of the biggest reasons for divorce. It
is the bigger reasons. Yeah. So if you just knew that, no matter what, you wouldn't like that's not something you have to worry about as far as taking care of yourself and your livelihood and those that you know are the closest to you. You know, that would that would really put you in a different ball park of life. I think. So, you know that's important, but it also you know, again, if you had all the money in the world and nobody to share what comes with being wealthy,
like it would be sad. I feel like you'd always feel like you'd feel empty. I mean, I mean, I don't believe that, you know, the money can't buy happiness line Like, technically it it can't because just having it doesn't give you happiness. But everything that you get out of life with a lot of money does give you happiness. So I've never really believed that this is a good one. You can run, but you can't hide. Your past will always find you. Instead of avoiding and ignoring it,
deal with it. I'd say that's probably something a lot of people learned later in life. It's a very harsh truth for a lot of people. That's it's exactly that good point our truth. Never take your health for granted. Nothing will ever substitute for good health, So make sure you take care of
yourself. Yeah, I think that's true, But I also think that that can backfire a few And I'm not like that you shouldn't take care of yourself, but if you become a hypochondriac and you kind of overthink your health, I think that could be a bit of a toxic thing to do. Yeah, but I wonder how many people out there have just for years known something was kind of off, but just you know, put it off and then it ended up being something that you know is tragic like that, that is
terrifying. So when I say good good health, like good health habits are obviously a big factor in that, but like just go to the doctor regularly and get check ups so you don't miss something, right, I mean this one, this one I think is is real and I feel like I can kind of relate. Your happiness is your responsibility, and it will never be found that another person take the lead in your own existence because you only get one. That's that's real. That's like, I mean, that makes total
sense. I would have never thought about that. But yeah, your happiness only you can control. So do what you have to do to find happiness. And don't feel as if if you're you know, who would want to live life miserable? Right, I mean, sometimes you got you know, you put others before yourself because you're taking care of your you know, your children and all that. Like, look, there's a lot of sacrifices made in your life, but at the end of the day, like no one
is going to look out for you as much as you are. So if you're not looking out for yourself. Like, that's not a good recipe, all right, Last one here. Comfort zones are nice, but you'll only find out who and what you are when you put yourself out there and take chances, take calculated risks, and find out who you really are. That's
a good one. I agree. I mean, I I've I've oftentimes had fear of doing things and realize, you know, hey, what why not you know, if you if you if you fail, which I've failed at things, probably didn't surprise you guys listening. But you know, if I didn't at least try, I would always you know, I overthink everything in life, so I would be dwelling on it for for you know, forever. Honestly, in this business, you kind of have to absolutely you you
have to. I feel like if you know, like if if you know this is what you're going to do, you have I think you have to enter it with with the not just belief, but with the guarantee that you will, at some point have You'll have a hardship in your career. You'll do something that you hope work out and it didn't. You'll I mean,
you'll get fired from a job. You'll you know, not I mean it's it's I feel like you can be really good at this and have setbacks and failures along the way, and you'll get another opportunity, you learn from it, and you know you go from there. All right, I lied one more. No one cares as much about what you do or how you do it as you might think they do. As much as the world should revolve around you, it rarely does. When you realize there's not a big spotlight
on you, it might or it makes taking chances easier. Do your thing and get your and be your own best audience. It's kind of in the same lane there as far as like, look, you know, if you have a setback of failure, something embarrassing happens, like you know, nobody's going to be thinking about it and you know, holding you accountable for it like you think they are. So I don't know, I just we assume the world cares about everything that we're doing. Yeah, but the world,
yeah, what, we only care about what we're doing. Yep. That's probably one of the biggest lies that we tell ourselves in society, that everybody's worried about what you're doing, not because they're like a big fan, but like they're looking to clown you or something or criticize you, or you know, like I used to have that mindset every now and then of like well if I don't, if i'm not, if I'm not at this event, or if i'm not you know, there's a lot of schmoosing, and you
know in sports media in this market as far as like rubbing elbows networking, and that's just not my not my personality. I have enough relationships and I'm content and to do what I do. Fortunately, I don't really need that. I mean, be nice to have access and resources and all that kind of stuff, but you know that's not really how this all comes together. But I used to feel like, well, I got to be there because others are going to be there, and if I'm not, you know,
they're going to be thinking where's this guy at? And then I realized, like that's ridiculous, Like I could not be many places and nobody would notice. So you get a little self absorbed in what we do at times. But you know, I think there's also good reason for that, because you
know, it's what we do all right again. Coffee and Company feel by Thornton's don't forget to sign up to become a member of the Thornton's Refreshman Awards Program if you haven't already, as you know, you'll save money at the pump. And I couldn't believe it gas yesterday. I don't remember exactly what the price was. I just know I think it was, like I want to say, like three seventy one, which isn't like an it's not a
price that like we've never seen before. But I remember we were in Missouri on our way back and it was two eighty something, So like a ninety percent difference in a ninety cent difference in gas price, which I don't know if it's because the holiday's coming up and people are going to be traveling or what it is or location, but gas is still expensive. So save money every time you put gas in your car. By becoming a member of the
Refreshing Awards Program. You download the Refreshing Awards app. It's easy to sign up. You can go to the website and you'll be good to go. All right, So let's get back to this, to this Bahamas trip. So I mentioned earlier that I was not fishing for somebody to help me out, but I was trying to figure out if I could make it work and get to the Bahamas later this month and early in August, because you know, it'd be an awesome trip to go on and I want to see this
team. I mean, I mean this when I say it. Most may not think I'm genuine, But the biggest reason I would want to go is because I want to see this team. Like it's a new team, it's a new era, and you know, I think this team could be pretty
damn good. I'm well aware that they're going to be playing competition that's not the same level of competition as to what you'll see when you play, you know, during the regular season, but you know, I getting a chance to see these guys play in action for the first time, you know it. Also being in the Bahamas helps. But man, I I'm I'm eager, but you know I can't go. I found somebody that was going to help me out and make it much more easy to do and much more affordable.
But I totally didn't realize that my family vacation to Destin, Florida absence to take place at the same time this trip is going on. So I've kind of jokingly mentioned, like calling my wife on the show and asking like, hey, you know, honey, what do you think you go to destin? You know you enjoy the trip. We'll let you, guys, let you have your own time with the kids. You deserve it, you know, I know you want it, and I'll just I'll just go to
the Bahamas and work. And you know, I mean, she wouldn't go for it. I'm trying. I'm trying to throw something out there to where when I you know, after I say it, I can kind of reflect and think like maybe I'm looking for something to where she wouldn't think like you're an idiot or hit me in the head or you know, something like that. I don't think I have a genuinely would just be like, are you seriously I can go by myself with the kids. Oh? Oh no, I mean that's not a real thing. No, oh my god. I
mean any parents. I mean, if you have two young children and you you know you you parent together. I mean it's different if you're divorced, because you know you're never together. The only time you see each other's when you swap kids. But you know, like being by yourself with two kids at times is I mean, in fact, a lot of times it's just a lot. I mean, it's doable. I mean, there are a lot of single parents out there, and you know, God bless you,
because I know that's not easy to do. But you know, if my wife, like it, is gone for a couple of days and I just have the kids by myself, you know, I'm tagging out when she gets home. I'm you know, I'm saying, like I need a break, that kind of thing, so her, you know, I mean, I
just it's it's it's impossible to even to be it wouldn't happen. But like just thinking of her carrying all the stuff to the beach, all the beach toys and the chairs, and the kids are screaming, and you know, I'm I'm you know, I got a fruity drink with an umbrella in it in the Bahamas watching Louisville play basketall. I guess it's not it's not. It's not. There's no way I can make it happen. So I'm jealous if you're gonna go. But the reason I'll bring it up is because we
do. We now know when they're gonna play. So if you were, you know, maybe gonna be able to make the trip dependent upon the dates of the games. They're gonna play on Tuesday at seven pm against the Bahamas, which I don't know if that I don't know who that team is, but you know, I guess we'll, uh, we'll, we'll find out. Not like usually there's somebody you recognize on one of these teams, on some of these teams that'd end up playing these colleges in these you know,
international trips. And they'll also play Calgary on Thursday at noon, and that's that's that's a college in Canada and this is what they do every year, looks like, meaning they'll traveled. I mean, it's a good gig. If you're one of these schools in Canada, you probably you don't have to pay to go. I mean they're paying you to be there and be the be the competition. So this same Calgary team went fifteen to five in their
conference last year. Obviously a much different level than you know, Division one high level college basketball, but they're at least good at their level. They went twenty one and eleven overall, again fifteen and five in league play, and last year they played Yale, who by the way, beat Auburn in the first round. Of the tournament last year, and they also played Wichita State. They didn't win any of those games, but they were competitive in
just about all of them. So you know, I don't say that to say, hey, we better be careful. This could be a real, you know, potential upset. I mean, I don't believe that at all, but it at least gives us the census to who they're going to be
competing against. I mean, I would be I have no clue what to expect with the Bahamas team, but I would be willing to bet that the Calgary team they're the Dinos by the way, the University of Calgary Dynos, just because that's a real team that plays together and has probably been together for I mean, I'm sure returning players from last year's team. I don't know if the portal exists in Canada, but you know there's a coach that's been
coaching that same program for quite some time. With the Bahamas, I don't know, I mean, I mean, I the Bahama the Bahama national team, Like there's no way they'd be there because I mean, the Olympics are going on, right, I mean the Olympics, I think, are aren't they going on, like when this trip takes place, Like when did the Olympic Games start? I think the Olympics could be way later in August. I think it's mid to late August. Okay, now I gotta look it
up. And and and I don't think they'd be I mean, I don't think they'd be there anyway, because they're preparing for the Olympics, and I'm pretty sure they qualify because I keep seeing all these and I have no clue how this happened. But the the Bahama, the Bohemians, that's how you say it, right, the Bahamian national basketball team. I mean they've got guys who I think have been well documented from Bahamas, DeAndre eight and and Buddy Healed, but also Eric Gordon or I mean, I think he's still
playing in in the NBA. Tom Tom Narron if you remember that name. He played at Michigan State years ago. Yeah, a lot of these guys played in college. And then I don't know if he's playing, but I keep seeing that Klay Thompson has been working out with the team from the Bahamas or from the Bohemian national team. So there's no chance it to any of those guys, just because with the Olympics coming up, like, it just doesn't make any sense. So maybe it'll be a group of guys that are
from Nassau that I have no clue what to expect. But previously, when we were in this situation on these trips, when you had no clue what to expect as far as competition, I mean, there were dudes who worked at the resort that would play. I mean there's stories of Russ Smith, you know, couldn't believe it whenever he realized the guy that was guarding him was the same guy who was his bartend of the night before at the resort, the bell hop. Like, those are not made up stories, Those
are real. So I don't know if that's what who they're gonna end up playing, but we shall see. All right, So some big news in the college football world. Not a story that's gonna lead the headlines across the country, but it is unusual to see a coach randomly fired in college football
in July, but we've now had it happen two straight years. So former Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald was fired last year, which, by the way, he's suing Northwestern for one hundred and thirty million dollars for wrongful termination over the hazing scandal that led to him being outed last year and most recently in April, the judge rejected the request to dismiss this, so he may actually, I mean, he encouraged them to settle, but they're not looking to settle.
They want to fight it out. So I mean he may win. And at that point, if you get one hundred and thirty million in a lawsuit, do you want to coach anymore? You know what I mean, Because he's a good coach, but I don't think he's hireable until his lawsuit situation is handled. So that was last year, and that was a bigger deal because that's Northwestern, the big ten. I mean, they weren't good, but they had had some good seasons sprinkled in throughout his tenure and and
that had never happened in Northwestern, and he was beloved there. He played there like he was one of the better players ever, So that was big news. And this is not as big news. But I'm curious to see if we get more information here soon as far as what happened. So Blake Anderson has been placed on administrative leave and is not expected to return as Utah
State's head coach. This is a guy who's had the same who's had that job since twenty twenty one, and at that point he actually I think in his first year he led the Aggies to the Mountain West Championship, and he has I mean, he's probably earned some attention across college football from people who don't follow or care about Utah State or the Mountain West because of what he's gone through. I mean, this is from a broadcast a couple of years
ago during one of Utah State's games. Utah State head coach Blake Anderson four years ago lost his wife to cancer. His father passed away. About eight months after that. In this February, he lost his son, Cason, who died by suicide. I mean, that's a heavy burden for anybody, let alone a head coach of a college football team. It's amazing how he's coping and his whole team is helping. It's unreal how everybody's rallied around them.
And when we ask him, how did you get through this? What's the game plan to be able to deal with so much adversity, he said, transparency. There were days that practice that I was crying and I need other coaches to step in. A bunch of us, send songs or text messages, different things to pick each other up. We're in this together. This is a community and a team based on chemistry and culture and weak care. And that's incredible because what he's been able to do is what his team
starting to do. Oh that's bee forward number of mean just think about that. I mean, you lose your wife to cancer, your father passes away less than a year later, and then just a few months later, your son commits suicide. I mean that is absolutely I mean I can't imagine. And he continued to coach, you know, doing his job, probably just
trying to distract himself from the tragedy. And they were successful and you know he's emotional at practice as they described there, so like he's beloved because they've had success, and you know, he's done this while you know, the entire fan base in probably the entire university has kind of has kind of become his direct family because he's lost so much of his own family. So for him to be placed on leave and now we know he's going to be he's
done there. I mean Brett McMurphy reported it, and if Brett mcmov Brett McMurphy. I mean, I don't know. I don't know if Brett McMurphy has ever been wrong when it comes to these kind of things as far as like reporting of guys being out as the coach. So, I mean, no clue, what what what will lead you know what, what's going to end up being the reason as to why? And let me ask you this, John, I think this day and age, it's it's it's difficult.
It's difficult to think that we won't find out right, like it's it's gonna get out. Well. One thing, I've seen this and I don't know if this has been confirmed or anything, but I'm reading it says he is alleged to have been non compliant with university rules regarding complaints of sexual misconduct. Yeah, I mean that's that's the kind of I mean, that's that's got to be. Yeah, it looks like just earlier this afternoon. This is
from Sam Farnsworth, who is a sports anchor in Salt Lake City. He shared, Yeah that it, I mean says, Okay, so this is I mean, gosh, I don't know how to I don't know how to to the word this because there's a difference. Both are gross, but it sounds as if he is in trouble because of failure to like report what he knew was happening, which again is still awful and you need to be held accountable, but he wasn't actually doesn't sound like he was actually sexually snassing people
directly necessarily. It also says that Associate Vice President and Deputy Athletic Director of External Affairs Jerry Bovie, who's the interim ad in twenty tween three, and Utah State Football Director of Player Development and Community Austin Albrecht also have been dismissed for violations of university policies related to the reporting of sexual and domestic violence and
failures of professional responsibilities. So these are guys, these guys, and I don't, you know, we don't know the extent of like any involvement or knowledge, but essentially these three individuals have been essentially let go because of things that happened on their watch that they either knew about and didn't do what they're supposed to do in that position, or you know, they didn't know about and should have known about. So I mean, that's that's awful to hear
about and and that's that's terrible. But again, I knew it had to be something kind of in that in that lane. Given you you know, he could probably break a rule, get in trouble for something rather relatively minor, and given his situation and his you know, how beloved he is, he could probably ride it out. But it's one of those things that once it becomes public, this university is going to make sure that once they were aware, they they cleaned house, because they don't, you know, they
don't, they don't stand for it. So yeah, Utah State now opened in the Mountain West, which by this point they're gonna they're gonna hire from with then, aren't they. I mean, I don't easy way to do, you know higher Bobby Patrino Hier Bobby Patrino, Patrino to Utah State. It still so weird to me that he's at Arkansas calling plays, But I guess I should never be shocked with anything when it comes to Bobby Patrino. All right, let's get to a quick break. We'll come back on the
other side. Keep this thing rolling along. Uh, we'll talk a little more about this EA Sports college football game that is coming back and it's all anybody seems to be talking about in the college football world. And the n is double A right like there's there's there's been the belief that for years that this, this this institution, this organization that is the nabaa A may just
eventually no longer be around anymore. And I don't know if that's the case or not, but a lot of people think it's just because you know, they'll just fold. Well, I have a guess as to where if the NCAA ends up just no longer existing in the next five years, it'll be because of one specific reason, then not many people are talking about. So how about that for a tease. So for those just times joining us, we did a little something different to start the four o'clock hour, nothing sports
related. I think it was informative and maybe motivational, just sharing a breakdown about things you can you know, you don't want to learn the hard way, you don't want to learn too late in life. And one of those things that I can genuinely tell you I learned at the right time was about testosterone. I had low t didn't even know what it was, didn't even
know what it meant. But the you know, if I had to guess before knowing what it was, I would have said, it's something that you deal with when you're like getting to be fifties and sixties, and it's just you know, you're getting old and brittle, And that's not at all what it is. It's testosteron. Testosterone is something that even at the age of thirty, you start to decrease the level of testosterone that you produce. And
some people have that happen and it doesn't really affect them at all. For me, I don't know when it started, but I knew something wasn't right. I'd lost my edge. I just you know, was slowing down a little bit lethargic, not getting the most out of workout, started to develop, you know, some excess fat and flab that I really couldn't figure out why. Right, it wouldn't a whole lot changing with my diet or exercise.
So I finally figured out, you know, what the hell, Let's reach out to one of our great partners, the Louis of Men's Clinic, and just you know, get a consultation, tell them what's going on, see if maybe they could help. And they checked my levels of testosterone and it was not where it needed to be. And now for the last six months or so, I've now been taking testosterone treatment from the loive of Men's Clinic and it's helped me in a major way. They've helped me. Let
them help you. Loblemn'sclinic dot com is the website if you want to give if you want to check them out online, you can also give them a call. FIVO two four four four four thousand. There's a lot of different services they can help you with, right, Maybe it's not low testostrom, Maybe it's rectiltis function, Maybe it's joint pain. Maybe it is hair restoration, maybe it's weight loss. They've got all kinds of services that they can
that they provide to help you become happier and healthier. So again, Loulavin's Clinic dot com FABO two four four four four thousand. All right, So the EA Sports College Football twenty twenty four, I guess is what they're calling it. It'll when does it come out? Do we know? Like I'm sure there's so many that know the exact date. But John and I are not gamers, so therefore you know we're not I mean, we're not keeping up with it as much, but apparently July nineteenth is what it tells me
here on Google. I'm going to assume that that's right. So you still got a couple of weeks roughly before you're able to to to purchase it and
play it. But it's all anybody's talking about in college football, which I feel like there are people like me that don't play video games, that you know, aren't going to go buy it, that are still really getting caught up in the game itself, and you know, some of it is just just you know, the where EA Sports has your team ranked, which I'm not really sure how accurate this is, because today they released like a six minute video with Kirk kurb Street, I guess describing describing what is new in
the Dynasty mode. I think that's I think that's what he was describing earlier today in this in this video that, by the way, EA Sports put it out at eleven o'clock on the Dot and it's now got three million views already, and we'll let you hear a little snippet of it. This is herb Street kind of describing what you can do within the Dynasty mode of this video game. Everyone Kirk kurb Street here with EA Sports College Football twenty five
back for another deep dive. This time we're talking about everyone's favorite mode, Dynasty Online. Dynasty in College Football twenty five can accommodate up to thirty two teams, and you could play with friends for up to thirty seasons. Today we'll take a closer look at the new twelve team college Football Playoff, recruiting, the transfer portal, and a ton of customization options to make your program unique. College football has seen seismic changes over the past, so there's a
lot to this that I don't I don't. I have questions, but it's not worth getting into because I don't really care, but because players are going to be in it. Like if I'm the punter for Louisville and I'm in the game, you know, if somebody's playing with I don't know, they're doing Dynasty mode with Indiana, and John's running Indiana and he sees Nick Coffee the punters in the portal, like he could scoop me up. But like, because they're actually real players now, like everybody, I just where people
are gonna get caught up and not realize this is not real. I mean assume most people know that this is a video game, but like the level of what you're able to do, and with technology advancing so much since the last time this game came out, there as a lot of people probably haven't gamed. They call it that like there yeah that they as a verb. Yes, yeah, they haven't gamed since this was a since this game was
you know, still being made many years ago. So I mean I can see it now, though maybe not right away because obviously the game comes out in July, but like next year, somebody's gonna enter the portal on the video game and like make that their announcement and like share a like you could see that happening, right, yeah, Like that's you know, so I I just you know, by the way, one of the biggest things people are getting angry about is where Colorado is, right, yes, yeah,
so that's one thing that I just I don't understand. It's silly to get wrapped up in what any analyst says about your team. I mean it really does. Like people are wrong often right, Like pre season talk about a team is so often forgotten regardless of how right or wrong people are, because we're just buying time until we get the real thing, you know what I mean. So I share some things that are out there, preseason, top twenty fives, watch list, that kind of stuff, just because it's something
to bring up. But like we all know, deep down, it didn't matter. You got to go out there and play and prove it. But getting caught up in what a video game thinks of your team is really, really, really silly, and people are doing it everywhere. So yeah, Colorado, they're top twenty out of number sixteen. Yeah at it right now, number sixteen, and they came in at number like ten in the Big ten I'm sorry, the Big twelve preseason poll today, and like there's really
no justification to put them there at all. They sucked last year. They might be a little bit better, but like to have them at sixteen, it's just nonsense. And I guess this is EA Sports. Either EA Sports is just that misinformed or they're doing things that'll only bring more tens and hype around it to where people will buy it, Like Colorado. Let's be honest,
man, I don't think that it's gonna work out. I don't think Deon's gonna win a whole lot there, Just to be honest with you, but he but I've always said he's still going to be talked about because he's deon he has They could go three and nine for three more years and he will still be talked about extensively because of he's Prime, right, And I can't quite understand it, but you know, he's just a lot different and
he's an entertainer, he's a character. So you know, maybe they're doing this because they realize maybe somebody wasn't going to be interested or even think about the game, but they see that Colorado's supposed to be pretty good, and man, I want to play with Coach Prime's team because man, they're awesome,
and then they're gonna go I don't know. I like to be honest with you, those who determine, like how good a team's defense is, how good a team's offense is, where the rankings are, Like that should be done by somebody within college football, Like I wouldn't be like, I wouldn't be mad if they had you know, Chris Vanini who covers college football for the Athletic, Like, have him do it, like he would know
better. And I think somebody who develops video games. What if Dion Sanders threw some money at ed EA Sports just to kind of give them a little bit of a boost wouldn't shock me. But like it's it's egregious. But then again, like it's not real. Even the people who could be wrong about preseason predictions that are putting stuff out there now, they're actually basing it off of a real team that's going to play the sport of football on an
actual football field later. So I mean, look, when people get all worked up about something that's usually good for this, for this kind of show, right, Like that's it's it's usually something that we can run with. But I just can't really even get deep enough to like, I just can't. I can't relate to people caring about what a video game thinks of a team to where I you know, if they really wanted to up the realism of this, they should just go by whatever the rankings are for that week
and update them. You know, with online stuff and online gaming, they should be able to change the rankings. Yeah, I don't know if that maybe they don't have anyway, And you can customize everything, right, so there are people you know, you can cheat, you you can make Colorado
number one. Part of it is like okay, you're angry that Louisville's not a top twenty five teen potentially, which apparently somebody sharing screenshots of Louisville appearing in a number next to them, And I don't have no clue if it's real, but what nobody seems to think about is it could be where Louisville finished the season rank last year. Like I think that's what it is. There's something that has them like fourteen, and I think in one of the
rankings that's where they finished a year ago. So anyways, you know, if somebody played this game in a month and they were playing as Kentucky and they beat Louisville by fifty points, are you going to care if they share it? No, then then why would you care about? Like, you know, I just don't get it, but you know, knock yourself out. Somebody shared this underneath the the the EA sports tweet that came at earlier today, and it's funny but also like I kind of agree a little bit,
but hey, this guy said it, not me. I want you people to know we're not so different, you and I. I used to love video games, yeah, video games, video games, Yeah, I love video games, and then I lost my virtunity and that's why I'm gonna win tonight, baby, because I'm better than you. And you know it. That is MJF from aw who is a really really good heel in wrestling. He said it, not me, but I found it funny. And you know, only a wrestler could get somebody to start chanting video games.
Like, I'm not gonna lie to you. A lot of guys I grew up with, I never was into video games as much as as some others. I mean, I had a PlayStation two. That's where my gaming ended, like around sixth seventh grade. But a lot of like a lot of my friends who were really into games, they weren't as much into games. Whenever, you know, we got a little older and we started chasing ladies, you know what I'm saying, Like, you know, want to hang
out with girls, not being our mom's basement playing video games. But hey, I waste time on TikTok. If you waste time on a video game, at least you can go to bed at night feeling as if you're an accomplished college football coach that is in the midst of a very successful dynasty. I mean, that's that's a pretty funny line, isn't it. No, we're not so different you and I. I used to love video games, yeah, video games, video games. Yeah, I love video games,
and then I lost my virtunity. I just love how he's getting booed. And then they started chanting right after all that. Again, I mean, if you know him even a little bit and you're chanting, and you're picking up his chant like he's gonna he's coming back at you with something like and there were enough people where you could hear it clearly on television video games. All right, we'll wrap up a four o'clock hour. On the other side,
keep this party going. It's coffee and company. Philbeth Thornton's right here on Sports Talk seven ninety. We were wrapping up the four o'clock hour here on a Tuesday afternoon Coffee and company fueled by Thornton's on Sports Talk seven ninety. Don't forget you could take us with you wherever you go. Listen live on the Aheart Radio app. Listen live at seven ninety Louisville dot com. All right, so I'm pretty sure the last member of the twenty twenty three
to twenty twenty four Louisville basketball team has found a new home. Walk On not a scholarship player. All those scholarship players have since landed elsewhere. But earlier today on Twitter, I think it was Hersey Miller, son of Master P, he announced that he was going to be transferring to looks like Utah, Southern. I think that's I'm sorry, yeah, Southern, Utah and
the Big Sky. So best of luck to him. You know, with this two year Kenny Payne era being you know, disastrous, I mean, I'm not sure what's going to be remembered down the line, I mean, other than you know, it being terrible and nobody wanting to think of about it. But from by all accounts, he was a really really good kid,
good guy to be around. According to those within the athletic department that uh, you know, got you know, of all the guys that they had on a two year window here during the Kinny Payne era, I always feel like he was one of the nicer guys that they that they, you know, I want to I want to say worked with, because you know, they didn't work together. But and I think honestly, most of the
guys who played those last few years weren't bad kids. But you know he's the son of a rap mogul who you know, walked on here and didn't get a whole lot of minutes, but always seemed to have a good attitude about him, and man, he was bounced around. He started it I think it was Tennessee State and and really couldn't crack the rotation there. Ended
up walking on at Xavier but never played. Then transferred to Louisville, and he actually got minutes for Louisville, uh here and there in his first season, and then last year I don't remember him playing much at all, and then of course he got hurt and did not return. So I think that's just about everybody, as far as uh, as far as guys from last year's team that have that have found the new home also real quick as we utilized the little time we have here before we hit the top of the hour.
Ashton Julyatti. The off season honors keep rolling in. He was named a twenty twenty four Walter Camp preseason All American First Team guy. And you know a couple of things. As we get closer to the season, like most fans, I'm going to get more excited, which will lead me to maybe being a little bit more optimistic than I was in April or May. But to be fair, I've I've always felt good about year two of Jeff Brown because you know, I don't see a scenario where you take like a
massive step back. It could happen. You really never know. But I think this team, and I think I said it a couple of weeks ago, I feel like this team eight and four is the floor and ten and two is the ceiling, which means more often, more likely than not, you know, they'll probably win eight or nine. I mean, they could get to seven. But you know, I think this team the schedule being
and by the way, that's what I was going to get to. There's two things that have kind of stood out as we get closer to the season, because we're really just two months away if you think about it. I remember on June first thinking, well, damn, now we still got three months, and at least you know, now a month has gone by and it went pretty quick, to be honest with you. So I'm not trying
to fast forward through everybody's summer plans. But man, I can't wait for football to get here because then it all comes the NFL, college basketball, NBA, like you know, the sports that I typically care about mostly just those three though, college football, NFL, and college basketball and no particular order. But I think the schedule will in fact be I mean, I don't think it's a stretch to say the schedule could be substantially tougher than it
was a year ago. And it's not just because you know, the schedule was so bad last year. Like Louisville played thirteen at Power five teams last year. So even when they were playing teams that weren't very good at that level, no offense, you know, like Indiana in Virginia and you know those teams, they were still playing legitimate teams of that level, not to say legitimate like they're you know, hunting for the playoff. But you know,
they didn't play any G fives. They didn't play any FCS teams last year. So you know, that doesn't mean the schedule was tough. Clearly they benefited from the way the ACC laid out that schedule, there's no way around it. But they also played Notre Dame, who at the time was a top ten team, and you know, they played an SEC team in Kentucky. Now they lost, So you know, I'm willing to acknowledge last
year's team. Last year's schedule was a factor in how they got to ten, and this year I think it's That's why I feel like I can say that it's gonna be substantially tougher because you go to Notre Dame. People can talk about Notre Dame always being overrated all they want, but not many. I mean, it's not that often teams win in South Bend. I mean it happens, but like that's not an easy place to play, and Notre Dame. You know, we'll see how good they are. But they're going
to be preseason top fifteen. I would imagine maybe top ten. They always are SMU. I'm not a believer that they're going to come in and run the ACC but you will see them in some preseason top twenty five rankings. Miami. I'm a believer that Mario chister ball is not a bum. I could be wrong, but I wouldn't be shocked at all if Miami's a top twenty team this year. You know, I think cam Ward from was at Washington State. I believe that transferred there. I mean, he he's sensational,
and Miami always has talent. You know Clemson again, they've taken the step back, but going to play Clemson at their place and winning is still a very very difficult thing to do that very few have done. So you know that's not me laying out Damn Louisville's got, you know, a murderer's road type of schedule, but I do think it's substantially tougher than last year because there's going to be some teams like Georgia Tech that should be a lot
better. You should beat them. I'm not setting I'm not setting it up as if, oh man, what are we gonna do? We gotta play Georgia Tech. But you know, they ended up going to a bowl game last year. I think they won seven maybe eight games in their coaches for
year, and they're expected to be a little better. So you know, you play Georgia Tech, Notre d AMSMU in week three, in weeks three, four, and five, And you know, I'm not going to act as if that's you know, a gauntlet, but that that I think those will be challenging games because those teams I believe are not elite like that's that's one of the things I hate about college football. I mean, I really
do hate it. It's that you're either elite or you're trash. And that's how a lot of people view just about every team like you like, and it's because of how the hierarchy works. It's such a you know, it's such a I mean, very few teams actually are real contenders to win the national championship in college football. There's going to be twelve teams in the playoff, but that really doesn't change the fact that it's likely going to be the
same teams every year winning. We haven't had a new winner since Spurrier won his first championship at Florida. It's been a long time. So because you feel it's such a small tier. And I feel like even if you're even if you're like ranked seventeenth or eighteenth and you want to talk up like we got a tough team coming to town, somebody will say, I know, they sucked. They lost last week, or they lost they lost to this team who you know is pretty good, but then they turned around and lost
to a bum so like that means they suck. Like there's no way, like the middle ground is not a bad place to be, and in fact, the majority of every team in college football at the FBS division level is there, or they're bad, meaning they're they're on the they're on the weaker
side. It's like, I just wish people could, you know, understand, I'm not claiming that SMU and Georgia Tech, I mean maybe even Pittsburgh, Like, I'm not telling you that they're great, and if you beat them, we're gonna throw a parade and shut down the streets in Louisville. But like not everybody sucks ass. Sorry for saying. I don't know if I'm supposed to. I think I think I think I can say that,
but I didn't mean. I just kind of came out, all right, we got another hour left, keep it locked right here, a body mouth in order. Sorry,
