It's time for Coffee and Company, fueled by Thornton's on Sports Talk seven ninety. Holy crap, I don't know who the hell we think we are. Gettle off our show, idiots. The kids are crying to trail off. The countries are screwing it up. Gold Play inter Murals, Brother, Goldplay inter Murals. They're supposed to be mature adults, but they're really not. Who's the kid here? Who's the kid here? Are you kidding me? Now? Here's Nick Coffee? As we get another edition of Coffee and Company.

Fueld Beth Thornton started here on Sports Talk seven ninety. I will open it up by letting you guys know that I'm I'm kind of in my own head here. I mean, that'll fade within the next couple of minutes and we'll just be up and running. But something happened last night when I went out to dinner that you know, has me second guessing ourselves here. I mean I can only speak for myself. I mean, John brings it every day. He's the backbone of this show. It's why he's the company man.

But I went out to dinner last night for my sister's birthday. It was me, my family, my kids, which I guess it's all the same thing, my wife and kids, and my nephew, my sister, and my mom and stepdad. And we had to wait a little while, which you know, wasn't that unexpected. It didn't take too long. We were a rather large party for the restaurant we went to. And while I was while I was waiting, I made a quick bathroom break. Had to take the little one, my four year old, needed to go to the

bathroom. And on the way there, somebody stopped me and say, hey, you know, love the show. I was like, hey, thanks, And that happens from time to time, and it never gets old because at least, you know, it's a reminder that somebody's listening. I like to think that there's millions of listeners across the planet, but radio is one of those things that you really never know, even when they give you ratings. I mean, it's it's archaic as far as how they pull it.

Now streaming numbers is a little bit different. But anyways, what I'm saying is it's always nice to hear that hey love the show, and I usually just say, oh, thanks, I really appreciate it, and I finally got down. Like it used to be uncomfortable because I used to I used to always just say, oh, hey, you know, what's your name?

And it would always turn into an awkward exchange because it would make the people that would make the person think that I think I know them, like you know what I mean, Like it would always oftentimes those people would respond, oh, you don't know me. And I'm thinking, well, I know that I'm asking your name just a week and you know, say hello and meet each other, you know, officially, other than just you know, the radio show and that kind of stuff. And now I've just gotten

a little more comfortable with that. And this gentleman who stopped me to say, hey, love the show. He said, man, really really tough time of the year to be doing radio huh uh. And I'm thinking, well, yeah, I mean there's not a lot going on, But does that mean he thinks the show sucks lately? Like he loved the show, but now this time of the year, he's like, man, we need

football to start. And then when I was getting ready to leave, I ran into an acquaintance, a buddy of mine who said the same thing. I mean, he didn't say love the show because I mean, like, you know, hope he loves the show, but you know, we're buddies, we're friends. But then he threw it in there as well. Man, gosh, it's got to be really really tastes. Like I haven't been able to listen a whole lot lately with work, but man, it's got

to be really tough right now, Like what are you talking about? I'm like, well, you know, we've been having fun, but like I can't really you know, I can't really throw to anything that would be like, oh wow, man, I'm bummed I missed that. That would have probably been some really good content for your show. So look, we're making it work here, but I don't know that just that I overthink everything in life, John, And that was one of those things that happened last night

that I'm like, I mean, what are we even doing here? Yeah, that makes sense, And I'd probably do the same thing if I were in your shoes, because I've learned throughout doing this show. But I'm also a textbook overthinker, and you know, I think there's there's good and bad that comes with it. But also I think both of those people were probably just trying to sympathize or empathize is probably the better way to say it.

With how you know this truly is for sports radio in particular, one of the toughest times to come up with new things from time to time, and I always I've always looked at this time of the year as a chance to get creative. And I will say I've kind of dropped the ball on that a little bit this year. I do still have some cool stuff. Well I don't want to oversell it, but I've got a different approach that we're going to try next week when it comes to the ACC Football Media Days,

which I am. I'm looking forward to. But you know, last year, if you remember, we did drafts a bunch each week. That was that was fun, you know. I just it's not as if we haven't had some things to talk about. We're always going to find things to talk about. But usually in the summer I try to do something that you know, I'm only doing because I I feel like it's the time of the year

where I could get away with it. If it doesn't work, you know, and it wasn't as good as I hoped it would be, who cares? I had to try something because you know it's July and I just haven't really done that yet, but hopefully next week we can. We can put our own little creative twist on coverage of media days. But yeah, I mean, I guess if you're somebody who you know, sports is a big part of your you know, your lifestyle. I mean, I don't mean

if it is because you play sports, then cool. But what I mean when I say that is more so like it's just kind of your escape, right, like it's your hobby. I think hobbies can be just indulging in sports, especially now that you have sports gambling. So not just this market, but I would say the sports that are widely discussed across the country are the sports that right now are not going on. So I guess that's I'm hoping that's what people mean when they say that, like, man, I'm

desperate for some sports content, like some game. I can't wait for football season to get here, in basketball and this and that, and you know, so they're thinking to themselves, man, I can't even think of anything i'd want to watch. What would you be talking about on your sports show? And it is sometimes we just disguise it as a sports show because it's sometimes not really a sports show. I mean it is, it will always

be. We are on a sports on a sports station. Nonetheless, However, you know, sometimes we talk about things that have nothing to do sports, and that ends up being a lot of fun. And I've said this

many times, why not say it once more. The things that people bring up about the show, like when they bring up something that they found interesting or funny or just a memory, it more often than not is never about sports, which, you know, I choose to look at that as okay, well, even if we don't have a lot to react to as far as the local teams and whatnot that people care about, we can still mix

it up and have some fun. There's also the other way to look at it, which is like, man, you must really suck at talking sports because nobody remembers anything you say about sports. I'm hoping that's not the case. But we will be spoiled here because we're gonna have basketball coming up this

Saturday. That'll give us something the TBT. I'm probably gonna discuss that more than I would have anticipated, because you know, why not, And I mean, I think there's gonna be a lot of local interest around here from Louisville fans and Kentucky fans too. I mean, they're they've got a team for the first time, and if both teams come out of their their their regions here, then they'll play each other, which I think that could be a lot of fun. I mean if in fact it's Kentucky and Louisville,

and I would hope that Louisville can host. They did have a good lead when it comes to ticket sales, but I'm not sure if Kentucky's gained much ground there or what. But either way, like you'd see Mark Pope and Pat Kelsey both there probably court side. Like it'll again, we all know it's not a real game, Like it won't have anything to do with how

the new era starts here in the rivalry with two new coaches. But you know, if there's anybody that can support basketball in July with former players who you know, put together a lot of successful you know, a lot of successful seasons collectively, I think it's us, you know, in this in

this city, in this state. So that uh, that's that's a gift because typically you don't get that right, Like the TVT has been going on for a while, but this is just the second year where there's been a Louisville team, And I kept thinking, John, why you know, last year was a lot of fun with it, Like I was really into it, man, I was, you know, after a win, I felt like this Louisville just beat a good team back in the old Big East days.

When when they lost on that you know, heartbreaker, I was devastated, and I'm thinking, like, didn't we didn't we talk about that? You know why we didn't because I wasn't here, Like the whole time Louisville played in the tv T last year, I was on vacation, right, So it really wasn't something weak that I spent a whole lot of time talking about because I wasn't here. And then, of course we have Louisville basketball playing in the Bahamas later this month, so you know, that's a gift.

I'm I'm choosing to just you know, to just uh be patient and ride out the next week or so, and then from there, I mean, we will have a good amount of basketball to react to, especially this time of the year. Uh and then before you know it, after that football season will be here. So anyways, it is not a fun time of the year. In sports, but hey, we still have fun on this show. At least we try to, so stick around. Who knows what kind of fun we're going to get into. Don't forget you could take

us with you wherever you go, whatever you're doing. You can listen live on the iHeart Radio app listen live at seven ninety louisvel dot com. As always, we are going to take you up until six o'clock today, and I guess I'll start with I think, what is the most talked about thing right now? I mean it's it is a sports story, I suppose, but I mean the national anthem last night from Ingrid Andress. Do you know who that is? John? I didn't until this morning. I've never heard

of her, and I've never heard any of her songs. I actually looked it up this morning, because you know, she's obviously a you know, Nashville singer songwriter, and I would assume. I mean, again, the Home Run Derby. I don't know where it ranks in regards to like all star type events from the major professional sports, but I will say the Home Run Derby, I feel like it's better than the Dunk Contest has been in many years. I mean, anything that the you know, the NFL does

when it comes to the Pro Bowl. That's stupid. It needs to end. So, you know, I feel like she's probably a I don't know, a decent name for her to be getting that. I mean, not an a lister when it comes to like music, right, we're not gonna It's not as if she's Taylor Swift or anything like that, or Morgan Wallen. But you know, if she's getting that gig, I would assume that she's you know, she's on the she's on the come up, right, She's an up and comer. She's won six Grammys, believe it or not.

Now is that as a writer or as a singer? It's a good question, because I kept thinking like, man, if she's got all this, all this stuff, all these you know, accomplishments and such an impressive resume, then you know I should know more about her. But to be honest with you, I don't know much of anything. She won Country Song of the Year in twenty twenty, Breakthrough Artist of the Year in twenty twenty,

and Most Performed Songs of the Year in twenty twenty. I bet the song of the year is that the one that's lady like, is that? Oh okay more yeah, okay, yeah, that's right. That that didn't ended up being a top three songs, So I don't know. Maybe if I heard it, I'd recognize it, but you know, I had no clue this was. I do see here that she h featured on a Teddy

Swim song. He's super popular and he's great. So anyways, you know, she's singing the national anthem last night, and I think collectively a lot of people have have decided that this is the worst or maybe one of the worst national anthem rendimtion? Uh what do you call it? You know it's not a cover, but I guess, oh yeah, his performance. Yeah, there's by the way, I said six grammys. That's incorrected six awards that Okay, I was gonna say six Grammys like that. God realized.

I was like, what just came out of my mouth? That is not rendition? Is the word I was looking for? That just my mind, you had it, You were right there. Sometimes I you know, I oftentimes just you know, really get lost within the English language to where I just say a word correctly, but I've oftentimes so wrong. I'm just like, well, there's no way that's the right word. I guess if I

just say with confidence, it'll you know, it'll hit. But nonetheless, she she was terrible and before we let you hear it, because I'm sure a lot of you already heard it a little a little bit of it today and I don't want to play it all throughout the show today. But she has since posted something on Instagram that was really sad. So this is her Instagram post as of like one thirty this afternoon. Uh, I'm not gonna b s y'all. I was drunk last night. I'm checking myself into a

facility today to get help I need. That was not me last night. I apologized to MLB all the fans in this country I love so much for that rendition. I'll let y'all know how rehab is. I hear it super fun XO Ingrid. So you know that's sad that you know that that she's in that position and she's I mean, if you're going to rehab because you were drunk, I would assume that that means you're an alcoholic, or that

you are starting to show the signs of being an alcoholic. But I've already seen some and I you know, I feel like I shouldn't speculate, but that's what everybody else is probably doing. But like, is this just a way for her to like let people know, Hey, this, Like I'm not that bad of a singer. Like I don't think people would put themselves in rehab if they really didn't have an issue. But I watched it after I saw that earlier for the third time, and it's tough to know.

But like she doesn't look drunk, and she doesn't really sound drunk. She just sounds like she was sounds off key, and she sounds like she was just trying to put together her own Like that's where a lot of people go wrong with the National Anthem, not to the level of like it's an all time terrible like like Fergie, Yeah that one and Roseanne. There are some

people that like they don't bomb and they can sing. But I feel like the National Anthem is the one song, or one of the very few songs that you're not really wanted to put your own flavor on it, like that

the National Anthem is is not your song. It's it's you know, it's our song as a country, and you are not needed to do any type of creative enhancement to the song, like it is what it is, and I think like I feel like the And when I used to go to every single little basketball game, they would oftentimes, specially years ago, there'd be

different people throughout the season that would sing the national anthem. Now in more recent years, it seemed to be a rotating crew that would do it, and they all do a great job, but there'd be the occasional one many years ago that you know, is like an up and coming artist or something, and they would try to put their own like flavor on it and it

wouldn't sound bad. But like looking across the arena, there'd be some especially the older crowd, that that just did not like if somebody was trying to kind of make that their own song. So I thought that's she was trying to do. And it just failed epically, but it was. It was bad. Oh it's broad shape, same bright sae thro the pairs fine, oh the rest, but we was we're so yay yet read the boon burst yap. Look, she's in pain. Lot of fless that's enough. It

goes on for longer than that. But that was John and I made the exact same face at the exact same time and that last part there, and to me, it just seems like someone who can't sing right like that, just that doesn't sound like somebody who knows how to sing at all. Yet she has a pretty successful career at this point and she's super young, so like maybe she was just hammered and forgot how to sing. I'm not sure,

but that was that was bad. And I actually feel like it's worse whenever you're when you when you bomb like that, because it looked as if she was clearly trying. And she's a singer, right like when you've got those who have butchered it, you know again like Roseanne many years, like she's not a singer and she knows it. That's the wrong clip there. How about Carl Lewis again a guy who you know is known for a lot

of things. But when you think when I think of Carl Lewis, uh, And I wasn't I wasn't old enough to remember when this happened live, but I know he's he's remembered to be one of the worst ever when it comes to singing the national anthem, and it's just terrible. Oh see can you see by the dog? See that's somebody that just try to put their own spin on it. And by the way, Carl Lewis's anthem the memories

from his being terrible comes towards the end he'd forgotten words. But I would say, you know, the worst ever's got to be Fergie, right, Like it's definitely my favorite one to laugh at well. And and what makes it even better is that they show the faces of the players while it's going on, and they're like they're in disbelief that this is happening, you see, by sir God, so uncomfortable, they lies less, I don't know, man, And then didn't you do the whole oh man, yeah,

no way, way, yeah. Yeah. I mean it's so it's so bad. And there are like three different gifts from the players reacting that are all like well known because each Draymond had one, Steph Curry had one, Like there's a bunch of them, and it's I mean, like you can't not react the way they're reacting. And I'm starting to wonder, like is that like I don't know she paid the bomb? Yeah, like the virality of it, like without knowing anything about last night's performer, Ingrid Andress because

I've never heard of her. I really thought as soon as I watched it that it was a publicity stunt because she didn't I mean, she was so bad. Like it was. It was. You know, some people try and you can just tell, man, they don't have the range. They're just not great singers. Some people mess it up because they're nervous. Some people inexcusably forget the words, like there's different ways to have it go wrong. She just sucked in every aspect, and it just made me think that

like this was this really was it worth? I mean, I don't know, Like I you hate to assume that somebody would do that and then, you know, do the rehab thing and do it all for attention to kind of maybe revive her career because maybe she's kind of faded away. I mean, I do see here that after her success in you know, twenty nineteen, twenty twenty, she never I mean in the last three years she really hasn't had any level of success it seems, and no charting singles or anything

like that. And I shouldn't assume anybody would do that, but you know what, people do stupid stuff all the time. But it turned into something because not many people were, well, put it this way. There's a lot of people that are big baseball fans. I'm sure they were watching the home run derby. But then there's a lot of other people who you know, don't like myself and all it just turned into where everybody was collectively saying,

all, right, where's it at. Somebody, somebody send me the tweet that has the video, because there was so many people reacting to it that were watching live that everybody else was like, oh, I got to hear this, and sure enough it hit the internet and it and it took off and it was it was really, really bad. Here's here's the rest of it from from miss Ingrid and Dress. Maybe she is hammered here,

Oh the man, I'd buy it. I think she was hammered. Yeah, I hadn't thought about that until you mentioned it at the beginning of the of the show. But it seems like she's trying, but also like she just doesn't know what she's going, Like she's not there, right, Yeah, that's what it seems like, She's not really there, Like she must

have been like beyond drunk. I mean even at the end, she's kind of like, I don't know, like got that slight like Mortal Kombat like wobble where you're about to just you know, get like I over trying. Who's at the karaoke bar and they've already had several drinks and but they're just wanting to have a good time, and that's the performance that they give you.

But I feel like, drunk or not, if you are somebody that is good enough to sing and have the success that she has had, even if you are drunk, you would still sound good but just sloppy and mess it up. But she may have been like next level. It's either she was beyond drunk like three times to lead a limit or something, or she just wanted to say. It's almost like it was an attempt to put together the worst anthem of all time while also making it sound like you're really trying.

And to add to that, if you're with Ingrid Andrews before she goes out there to do the performance, I feel like you should be able to kind of realize what's going on and kind of see if she truly is that intoxicated. Can you not pull her back and just throw, you know, someone from the bullpen and they're no pun intended to do the anthem instead of

her. Yeah, I mean that as soon as I saw that she as soon as I saw that she was you know, drunk at least from what she said in that Instagram story and said she was going to rehab, My first thought was, Okay, she has to have somebody like a manager or an agent that's like with her a lot throughout these gigs. And I mean they have to know, right, I mean now they can't really do anything about it. They're not you know, they're off the boss or anything.

But uh again, there's different ways to mess it up. Like some people just they're a celebrity, they get to do it and they're not singers, so they just are terrible on purpose, or they're just you know, having fun with it. But that was somebody who again like she's this says, this is what she does, this is her lane. And Fergie Fergi just tried to do weird stuff, right, Like Fergie's not a bad singer. She just tried to She just tried. She got pretty horned up for which

was really uncomfortable. We're talking about the national anthem here, like the bend Are you a sexy man? It's like she climacs during the bender. Yeah, yoh ya way, but Roseanne is up there, man, Roseanne is what is that people bowing? Yeah? That was Roseanne bar in nineteen ninety at the Padres game. And it's quite clear she's trying to sound terrible. Yes, and you can you can visually see it, so like it's still up there as an all time terrible performance. But like you know, she

wasn't trying to be impressive. She was out there just messing around. That wasn't what happened last night, but man, it went wrong. All right. We're loaded the rest of the way, ladies and gentlemen, so I encourage you to stick around, make yourself at home, get comfortable. We do have a legitimate update when it comes to the potential realignment, right, I guess that's the right way to describe it, meaning, like you know, I think the dust has settled a little bit here. However, there's

a lot of talk about the ACC members if they can get out. But I thought Brett McMurphy had a really good update today that I want to get into. Also, Texas Oklahoma making their way to the SEC and horns down is gonna be good to go. You won't be flagged for it in the SEC like you were in the Big twelve, which I've got an interesting thought on that that I want to get to. Also some other things said by

the SEC coaches at their annual SEC Football Media Days. And this ESPN list is something we got to get to at some point because it's got everybody upset. Lists will piss people off. I think we've learned that in sports in this list that ESPN is doing the best athlete since two thousand. We didn't get a chance to get to it yesterday. I certainly want to do that

today. So stick around, we'll have some fun. It is coffee and Company, and we are fueled Byuth Thornton's right here on Sports Talk seven ninety. All right, so let's go to the text line. Five h two sixty five three zero seven nine zero is the Ellenn Federal Credit Union tex Line members get more at Ellenn Federal Credit Union. You can learn more and open your account today at LENFCU dot com. It got me again, John, since I mentioned it yesterday, that hurdle that is there within that read it

got me for the second consecutive day. At Ellen and Federal Credit Union. You can open your account today at LENFCU dot com. All right, this Tex says Nick. My wife is actually a big fan of her, and she insists that there is no way, regardless of how intoxicated she was, that she was actually attempting to put together a good performance with the anthem. So are you saying, like you believe that she did this as a publicity

stunt. I mean, I don't think that that's like off the table, But you know, the only two scenarios I can think of is that because during the break there, I just pulled up a song of hers that's on the internet and what didn't appear to be one of the one of her hits or anything, but something on YouTube. And she sounds good, I mean, nothing like what she sounded like in the in the anthem last night.

So you know, I look, your wife would know more than I because if she's a fan of this woman, then she's probably hurt her many times and maybe even hurt her live. And you know, like that was bad. But what would like if you are conspiring to take this opportunity, because like maybe it just it ended up being like the best gig you can get, and you're like, man, I'm not getting I'm not you know, my tours aren't selling if she's even touring. I'm no longer collaborating with artists

like Teddy Swims. You know, my run during the pandemic came to an end. Like what do you think the ceiling is here? Like is it some great redemption story? Like she had to be confident that no matter how bad of a look it is with the alcoholism and the rehab, that she has to just believe that the amount of attention it's going to get that whatever her next song that gets released whenever that is that because of the attention,

it's going to propel that next song into a potential hit. And then maybe you know more thereafter, And you know, it would be not only if you put together a hit and it gets some radio traction and you get some buzz, that all is obviously what you want, but then it would probably be even more of a story because it would be viewed as like, wow, she's overcome and maybe maybe that's like the subject matter of the song too.

So then you have that empathy people who you know, feel for And I hate thinking that somebody would use that for a publicity stunt, but you never know. Yeah, and I usual, especially on this show, like I never want to sound like the guy that just assumes the worst in people, you know, because that, I mean, that's that's really not who how I am as a I mean, as a as a human being.

And I'd rather give more people the benefit of the doubt than not, because I think if you live in a world where you just assume everybody's the worst, then that's gonna really affect you. I mean, even if it is somewhat true, it's still not something I like to you know, dwell on. But you know, like in recent years, I I do find myself no longer being as surprised when you hear of people doing, you know, things they shouldn't be doing and behaving in a way that they shouldn't be behaving.

And you know, maybe that's what this was. Somebody else read it on the text line and said that they used to work at the Young Center and you would hear somebody hours before in a live event, rehearse the national anthem at every Young Center event. So they were insinuating that maybe if she rehearsed, then somebody could have at that point they were there, like an

employee. Maybe the gates weren't open yet at the stadium, but if somebody was there working and she was rehearsing, then they would, I guess, be able to tell you if that was like either you know, maybe she was maybe she was hammered when she was rehearsing too. I'm not sure, but yeah, it was. It was bad in a major way. All right, So yesterday I did my weekly rant. I think it's becoming a weekly thing when people bring up the Big Twelve and potential expansion for the Big

Twelve and the Big Twelve being able to add some acc members. Like it's just it's to me so obviously not a thing and not going to be a thing unless there's some success with this lawsuit that Florida State and Clemson are filing

it. But people just again, conference in alignment has always been something that you throw five completely unbelievable, just far fetched, unsubstantial sid reports like you know, you can have one about recruiting, you can have one about nil, one about trade rumors, one of you know what I mean, like

just you know, stuff out there that people are claiming. You know, there's reports, there's you know, I'm hearing this, sources tell me this, like you can have five different different ones from different aspects again like the things that has laid out, you know, NBA draft stuff, NFL draft stuff, portal realignment, you know, and whatever. Pick a fifth one, and let's say they're all the same level of like bat bleep crazy that like you know, only real, gullible people would fall for and think is

real. I'm telling you, of those five, the realignment one is going to get the most traction because for whatever reason that people just will believe anything even if they know it's probably not true, they'll still you know, give it some life when it's just so clear. Like there's this guy named Greg Swain or Greg Swain I think, and this guy has actually been around going you know, viral if you want to call it that, on Twitter for

fifteen years during the realignment stuff. This guy's got over one hundred thousand followers.

Again, his name is Greg Swain. And this dude has always thrown just absolutely not I mean just he's always just put out stuff that is wrong and it's been proven that he's wrong, and he makes stuff up and it gets people every time that you would think fifteen years later that like nobody would really run with what he's saying, but you know, he just tweeted something out four hours ago and it's about realignment, and it's just completely nonsense.

Here's what it says. This news is coming in so fast and furious this morning. So in summery, the SEC and Big ten aren't adding anytime soon, which again that that's not what you said a couple days ago. But then he goes on to say the Big twelve once FSUE and Clemson and are willing to use private equity to help them. However, to get that, they'll need to sign up long time. There definitely will not be any extended revenue for any new teams, as that was a disaster with OU in Texas.

I mean again, this has fifty thousand views on one tweet from earlier today at around noon, and I don't know, I just I don't know why it triggers me so much. But one person who I believe quite literally has covered conference realignment better than anyone, has had more scoops, has had more information, has more sources within conferences than anybody else, is mister Brett McMurphy, who now works for The Action Network, used to work for ESPN,

used to work for CBS. He's been doing this a long long time, and I kind of feel like, of all the great coverage he has given in the world of college football, his biggest scoops have come when it comes to re alignment stuff. I mean, even going back to the Big East days. So he had a good update earlier today that really has to make Florida State fans feel, you know, sad. I mean, they're

gonna have a really good team this year. They're coming off of an ACC championship, they just got their coach locked into a long term deal, and and and I think Florida State's gonna be pretty damn good this year. But you know, I think they you know, if you remember, they're the first ones that said, Okay, here we go. We know our value, we know our worth. Uh, we're gonna you know, we're no longer just gonna act like this is okay for us to fall behind in years

to come when it comes to revenue. We're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna fight it. We're gonna follow lawsuit. Now. Of course, later Clemson did the same thing, but Florida State just started, you know, saying, get us the hell out of the ACC. And and we'll go

anywhere we want. I mean that that seems to be their attitude. Well, the SEC and the Big Ten are not interested in Florida State, So this is from Reving Bevery says Florida State will likely not have a spot in the Big Ten of the SEC if it's successful in leaving the ACC and the ACC stays intact. Uh if and when the Seminoles break free from the ACC, their top choices would be to join the Big Ten of the SEC because

of a huge difference in television media rights revenue. However, there are multiple

concerns about adding Florida State. Those are that's according to McMurphy's sources. Those reasons include the fact that it doesn't make financial sense for either league quote, there's no appetite for more expansion, and FSU has shown it's not a good partner, which that I don't know a whole lot about them not being a good partner other than the fact that they, you know, sued their own conference and didn't you know, band together with everybody else in the league who

agreed, even if it is stupid and hindsight, everybody agreed to the Grand of Rights deal that was signed that is locked into twenty thirty four. So again, Sankie, he said on Monday that they're focused on their sixteen and I think that makes total sense again because the SEC, as we discussed yesterday, they don't need to expand they don't need to and the only expansion candidate that would give them more value that would be a no brainer is Notre Dame.

And they're not going anywhere anytime soon. They're going to stay independent. So back to McMurphy's article. Here, it says Action Network contact more than a dozen individuals, including university presidents, conference personnel, athletic directors, network executives, and consultants. None would be identified because of the sensiti the sensitivity surrounding conference realignment. Three SEC presidents recently told Action Network they had quote no

interest in adding Florida State. It takes twelve of the sixteen SEC presidents to favor adding another school. The Big ten is also not interested in the seminal, sources said. One Big ten commission says here, Big ten commissioner Tony is it Petity Petit, Yeah, Petit is staying away from expansion and we're taking Tony's lead. That's what a source told mc murphy. Another note or another source added, why would anyone want to expedite more chaos by adding Florida

State. One source, however, caution never say never about FSU going to the Big ten because there could be a path if the ACC disintegrates. So trying to find more of these quotes that I think are worth reading. But let's see here. It says, what upside do you get from adding Florida

State? We got what we needed by adding USC, UCLA, Oregon, Washington, and Oregon and Washington were added at fifty cents on the dollar to help USC and UCLA, which I forgot about that USC and UCLA got a I mean they got it, and I think it like a fully you're getting

the same amount of money as everybody from the start. And again they added Oregon and Washington to help, you know, make it to where they're not just the only two schools on the other side of the country, which, by the way, I could be wrong, but I think Texas and Oklahoma are not getting the same money right away, whereas USC and UCLA are in the Big ten. So it says, who would Florida back to this poot? It says who would Florida State help and at what cost? And most

importantly, who's going to pay for it? So the issue that Florida State has is that they I mean they the leagues they want to go to. They there's just not there's there's no appeal for adding them. I mean, you don't need them. Again. The only thing the Big Ten could potentially do is say that they now have a school in fl Florida, but that wouldn't make it. It's just one school. It wouldn't really make any sense.

If the Big Ten wanted to expand, I think they could really kind of expand their footprint and get more into the South with teams like Florida State, Clemson, Miami, you know, maybe maybe a Virginia and a North Carolina, maybe Louisville, if for some reason you could ever make that happen. I mean, obviously, if the Big Ten and the SEC start a mass expansion, which I don't think they're going to any time soon, I would love for Louisville to be included. But I also understand that they're not

going to be as attractive as some other schools here. So you know, Florida State they won out, but like they they I really wouldn't be shocked if in the next you know, years, So if this legal fight continues and there's still more noise out there, that they may get out, but they don't have an invite to the SEC or the SEC of the Big ten, Florida State should just you know, concede and try to make it work, because there's something to be said obviously, So you want to make more

money, and money's never been more important than it is now when it comes to the money that the schools are going to have to start paying the student athletes. But you know, would you really want to pay a ton of money to get out of the ACC to go to the Big ten. I'm sorry to go to the Big twelve where the ceiling is not that high for you there financially. And there's something to be said about being a you know, a traditional member that that has had you know, that is one of

the top dogs in the league. Also academically, Florida State is apparently like a really bad school, I mean comparatively speaking to like other like Big ten SEC that kind of stuff, and that's that also hurts them. So you know, again, I think Bret mc murphy is one of the only people that has consistently reported on on realignment stuff. And I feel as if he's getting it from legitimate people in this space of college athletics at the high level

conference affiliation, revenue sharing, all that kind of stuff. I mean, again, these are the people that he got quotes from on this story. University presidents, conference personnel, athletic directors, network executives, and consultants. Those are people that have said there's no interest in Florida State in the SEC or in the Big Ten. And that has to be a punch to the gut for them. So, you know, maybe Clemson could be an attractive

school. I mean, you know that that you know that I don't really know if they make a lot of sense to just add. You know, if Clemson just is randomly joining the Big Ten, I feel like that's the the Who would be the closest school in the Big Ten to them? Probably Rutgers or Maryland. Probably Maryland. Yeah, I always forget Maryland's in the Big is in the Big Ten. And this is something that came out last

time. We were really just you know, I think whenever we knew that there was going to be so much movement taking place this year, right with the new Big Ten members and with the SEC adding Texas and Oklahoma. Obviously, now the ACC has added three schools around the time that you know, it just became clear we had a big, a big change coming, and you know, now it's here. There was a lot of noise about North Carolina and Virginia actually being the more highly sought after schools in the ACC if

the Big Ten in the SEC wanted to add anybody. And I think that comes down to, I mean, North Carolina is a huge state with a lot of people. You know, I don't know how great they are in every other sport. But as much as the ACC has some schools that have, i mean, won national championships, and you know, I think the ceiling can be high for some of these programs, not just in football but

just as athletic programs. But what I keep coming back to is something I've said probably more than I need to at this point, is that I just don't think that that there's a move, there's a move worth making if you're the Big Ten of the SEC. When it comes to adding anybody from the ACC, there's just not a situation where those schools are going to give you something of great value and give you something you don't already have. All right,

quick break, we'll come back on the other side. Keep this thing rolling along. It's Coffee and Company, and we are fueled bout Thornton's right here on Sports Talk seven ninety. That's right, Coffee and Company, fueled by Thornton's on Sports Talk seven ninety. Thanks for hanging out with us, Nick Coffee, that's me the company man, mister John all on alongside today

and a fella's listen up. If you uh think you may start to have some issues with a rectile dysfunction, I mean, thankfully I've yet to have that. Hopefully I never do, but if I do, I know where I'm going to go. It's the Little Men's Clinic. But again, I feel like it's something that you're going to know, and it's going to be it's going to be something that you know. It's quite clear that it's a problem for you, and I'm sure it's difficult to accept. You may just

want to block it out of your mind. You may want to be in denial. I mean, everybody deals with things differently, and that's a tough thing, not only for you, but it could be a tough thing for your partners. So if you do feel as if you've got a rectiled disfunction symptoms and it's happened, and maybe you thought it was due to something else, and then you realize, oh, something's not right, Well that's unfortunate, and I feel for you. But you can do something about it.

And what you need to do about it is reach out to my friends at the louisvill Men's Clinic. Give them a call FABO to four four four four thousand. Louisville Men's Clinic. Dot com is the website. They've got different types of treatment for rectil eddis function. I mean, they've got a ninety three percent patient satisfaction rate, and that's that's pretty damn good last time I checked. You know, they've got pulseway therapy, they've got something called pin

pal therapy which actually has a ninety seven percent success rate. Oral medications, if that's more what you'd be interested in trying. So a lot of different options for you if in fact, a rectild's function is something that is impacting your life, and it doesn't have to. And what I mean by that is you know they can help you. The leve men's clinic and they're going

to be eager and happy to do that. All right. We don't have a whole lot of time left here in this last segment because I just got a little long winded there discussing the uh, the realignment stuff out there. But when it comes to the SEC media Day is currently going on. This is day two. Kind of a Wyatt Day at least at this point from

what I can tell. However, Kirby Smart said something earlier today that you know, it was probably meant to be funny, maybe rib Oregon a little bit, but apparently Kirby Smart this past offseason really did a deep dive on the success in the overall you know, success of the company Nike of course founded by Phil Knight, and he has a real admiration for Phil Knight in

regards to his leadership and all that kind of stuff. But then he joked about wanting to receive some of the NIL money that Dan Lanning is apparently getting. Quote, I wish I could get some of that NL money that he's giving to Dan Lanning. That's what he said earlier. That quote got a lot of attention, and the reason I wanted to bring it up is because it's not because I think it's funny, but to know that you have unlimited nil money, meaning that there's no player that you would you would not be

able to get because of money. Because you know, the guy who happens to own Nike is a humongous supporter in a lum and fan and I remember it was within the last you know, month, six weeks or so, you know, stories came out that he's more willing than ever to just pay whatever to help out. And again, now you can do it legally.

Now it's a thing where hey, he can make a donation to a collective that can be you know, millions of dollars for one player, and he's got that kind of money to do it and it's not against the rules. And because he's getting older, I think the story that I read reference that you know, he wants to be able to see Oregon really you know, win a national championship before you know he's gone. And I just feel like that adds pressure to somebody like Dan Lanning. I mean, he's in his

what second third year, third year. I mean he's a guy that I think has got a bright future, but I don't know. I feel like in a way. I wouldn't want that, Like I would love to know that I have that support, but it being such a public thing that you can't run from that. If you ever don't get a player, everybody's gonna know you had the money to get him, why did you get them?

Like it's gonna be pointed at you. Which also reminds us that when players you know, end up going elsewhere and a coach thought he had him, like, there's still not going to ever be enough transparency to know that if a kid decided to go elsewhere because of money, and coaches can blame it on that, right, Like as much as coaches complain about the new world of the portal and nil, it also gives them a potential out when things

don't go well. And I just want fans to not buy into that and believe it because just keep in mind, no matter what happens, they can always throw out the excuse of, well, you know, we need you to pay more money and we'd get these players. We need you to pay more money and we'd be more successful. All right, don't go anywhere. Two more hours left right here on Sports Talk seven ninety
