It's time for Coffee and Company, fueled by Thornton's on Sports Talk seven ninety. Holy crap, I don't know who the hell we think when we are get off our show, idiot. The kids are playing or trail lit. The countries are screwing it up. Gold Play Inner Murals, Brother, gold Play Inner Murals. They're supposed to be mature adults, but they're really not. Who's the kid here? Who's the kid here? Are you kidding me? Now? Here's nick coffee? Are we ready to do this, folks?

Let's get it started. It's a Friday, good vibes on a Friday. I mean, I guess every Friday may not be a good vibe Friday, but I can tell you today certainly is. At least it is for me. Hopefully it is for you as well. So let's get the party started. It's Coffee and Company, fueled by Thornton's here on Sports Talk seven ninety. Don't forget you could take us with you wherever you go. Listen live at seven ninety Louisville dot Com. Also listened live on the iHeartRadio app.

I say anywhere you go, I mean, it's it's pretty much the truth. I mean you could you could listen to this show live on Pluto if they have cell service. Now I don't know what service looks like outside of this planet, but uh, you know that's the power of technology. So however you're listening, wherever you're listening, we appreciate you. The company man, mister John Alden is alongside today and John, are you feeling like I'm feeling on a Friday. I'm feeling pretty good. I'm ready Friday.

There's something about getting in here kind of at the last minute that just I don't know what it is. The juices are flowing like I walked in here probably five minutes ago. Now I've been, I've been. I've been downtown here at our at our office. Uh. But the one, the only, mister Scott Fitzgerald. He was in here preparing, uh for for his

shift, which is going to be over there across the hall. I got to stop doing this, inviting people to just leave this this show and go across the hall to has But he's he's filling in over there with Terry and so I know, made the rounds, walked around the office a little bit, Uh, went and got myself an energy drink to you know, to get the to get the juices flowing here and in four Street at three o'clock on a Friday, it's not packed, but man, there's there's places open

that usually aren't open down here. Uh there's a lot of people, you know, doing some day drinking. And I shouldn't act as if like there's a massive crowd, but usually noticed it too. And even traffic getting down here was a little a little more busy than usual. I mean, you think it's because of the show. It could be like do they realize they can't like this is not and we don't we don't do a live audience,

you know what I mean? Like, I appreciate everybody trying to make their way downtown to catch a vibe here coffee and company, but you could only listen. You can't you can't be with us. I had to shove people out of the way as I was coming into the iHeart Radio studio. I saw that. I actually think that the crowd that is already here is here for a show tonight. So I think it's hot country nights here at four

Street live. Okay, hot country nights. That's actually definitely hot today it is, and hot country nights Here at four Street Live is their concert series where they bring in country music artists, and tonight happens to be the one, the only Tyler Booth And I know the name, don't know much about him, but I do know he's from Wolf County, Kentucky, and I got a feeling when you know he's playing in his home state. Certainly we're not close to Campton, Kentucky, which is I believe close to like a

Red River gorge. So it's not you know, it's not a it's not that far, but you know it's under the lights here at four Street. Should be a good crowd. So I have a feeling we might have got Wolf County to make their way up here for his show and it's just led to and they'll be howlan, I hope, so, I hope. So a bad joke, Wolf County Howell. No, I mean I thought it. I mean it's it's the perfect level. Like I know what you were

going for. You were trying to be corny like it when it worked, I mean it worked for me. Now if you were like on stage working your set at a comedy club, that'd be different. But you know, we know where we stand. Here. We throw the dad bad jokes, corny jokes out there, and you know, people can you know, decide

if they think it's funny or not, but it is. There's just when when I come to downtown Lowiell, which I do every day now, and usually it's just a you know, I'm not exploring downtown in my vehicle. I go to the garage, I walk in here to the show, and then I leave. But it really is good to see a good you know, when there are people, like when people are here, you know, like I don't remember really what it was. I know clearly before COVID downtown

was in a better spot than it is currently. But you know, for the first I guess here and a half that we were here in this downtown setup. I mean, it's a ghost town down here, not just where we are, but just downtown in general. And it's gradually made some big progress as far as just you know, like we have a good downtown.

And I don't mean like it's safe. Obviously there's crime. I'm not saying it's perfect, but like we have the down town of a not humongous city, but like you know, it's a good sized city with a lot of businesses, a lot of restaurants and stuff. So you know, I don't a lot of people probably don't care, especially if you don't live near downtown

and you never come downtown. But I know it enhances the vibes for me whenever we're here doing our show at four Street, live in our phenomenal studios, and you know, there's a good crowd on hand, not for us. I mean, I hope that they're here for us, but I know that they're not. But it's just good stuff. It was really weird coming in here for the first, you know, year and a half or so, and more often than not, like it's a ghost town. And it

used to be like this used to be the Galleria. You don't even know what that is, John before no, after hearing enough from you, it used to be a mall right, yeah, and that I don't know if that I don't know when that was in its prime, but in my lifetime, anytime I was ever around or anytime I heard anything about it while it was open, you know, it wasn't good. It you know, needed to be ended in something new, and they did that with four Street.

But before I worked here, you know, this is probably when and this was Tango, said Cantina. I think that's what it was called, because for those who used to go to four Street ten years ago, you know, whenever you know you were bar hopping at that age, Tango was probably one of the more popular bars here. That's where we usually ended up,

and that exact spot is now where we broadcast live from every day. But before that, you know, ten years ago, I would come downtown and have lunch with my mom because she works downtown, and there was a food court across the hall, across the way, i should say, and they had a variety of different restaurants and it was never you know, walla.

You know, it wasn't like you couldn't move in there, but you know, you'd go there on a on a Tuesday or a Thursday lunchtime, and you know, each business in there was getting good business because it's where people would go to lunch, and there was other restaurants you could go to as well. And then, you know, just sad to see what Ford Street, not specifically for so but just downtown had become. And now, you know, I feel like it's making a gradual comeback, and I like to

see it all right, So let's just get right into it. Nothing. We're gonna work nothing else but debate, reaction and coverage for the rest of the show today. We've got roughly two hours and fifty minutes left. We're

just gonna give our thoughts on Joe Biden, Donald Trump. And you know, I'm clearly I'm kidding, but I feel like just the overall situation here, it has put us in a spot where you can talk about this it's topical, its content, and it cannot be political at all, meaning like you can have thoughts and opinions that have nothing to do with either side of the aisle. It's just wild that we tuned in last night to see two senior citizens just absolutely you know, I mean, I gotta be honest,

I think it went much better for one person than the other. I have no clue if what was said was truthful at all. Clearly there were some things that fact checking had been done to kind of confirm that maybe there was some misleading on both sides. To be honest with you, but I mean it was a body I mean body bag for Joe Biden. I mean he, I mean, he was not good. And this is again not a

political opinion. But I was not surprised to see the reaction from the Democratic Party last night was that, you know, and I don't know who the

political analyst was that was given this reaction. I believe it was on CNN that was, you know, basically saying that her phone was ringing NonStop during the debate, and it was, you know, she was name dropping Obama and just other people that, of course, you know, are very well connected to the Democratic Democratic Party that were like, you know, high alert, like we gotta do something here, we gotta, we gotta, we got to drop this guy and and do some I mean, can they do

that again? As somebody who's never paid attention to this, because I typically don't get involved. When I say don't get involved, clearly I would never be involved in like the actual process of someone becoming the president. But I mean, like I just never get into the politics of of anything. It's just not really been my nature. But last night I watched from start to

finish, and I've never done that before. And it's not because i'm you know, and I do have opinions, like I I mean, I know exactly what I'm gonna do on election day, but I'm just saying like, I think there's a lot of people like myself that have never really found it interesting to think, like, here we go, the two guys that could potentially be that are gonna one of these two is gonna be the president.

Let's hear what they have to say when they debate each other. I've just never really been interested before, but I was interested last night, partly because I do want to hear how they answer some questions and how they address some things, but also just because like it was gonna be it was gonna be entertainment. It was gonna be a show, right, And I know there are some that are like, I'll tell you what I think it might have been. Yeah, Colin cowhurt earlier today had to fill in. I can't

think of his name. Jason McIntyre, Yeah, j mack, and you know he started the show. I'll tell you what I didn't do last night. Watch those two old dudes, you know. And I'm sure there are people that intentionally made sure they didn't see it because they're just bothered that this is where we are. But I don't, I don't. I don't think there would be like I think you could be like that, But also still you can feel that way but still find yourself tuning in. That's kind of

how I was. I didn't really have any plans to watch it until it was brought up yesterday on the show that it was the reason that the NBA Draft was moved to the early afternoon, and for me, I couldn't watch

past the first commercial break. Once they finally took one, I guess about forty five minutes in, I had seen enough just because it was so so you turned it off, but it was because you just wanted to do something different, or because you were that bothered by just the overall like it was kind of it was a real visual and I guess audio confirmation of where we are. I was looking for a way out of it, and once they took a break, I'm like, I'm done with this and it's not I

mean, it was embarrassing. It wasn't embarrassing for me specifically, but just I had seen enough of Joe Biden just stuttering and coughing up dust and it was just one of those most It was very uncomfortable to see the person who leads our country just stutter and stumble over everything that he was trying to talk about yeah, and and what I don't understand is that those reacting like,

Okay, this was a this was really concerning for the Democratic Party. This is a really like they're they're, they're they're stunned, and I'm like, well, I don't even not be aware of it. I don't even pay close attention. And I could tell you that that was probably like everybody in America kind of felt like that was that was what was going to happen. And I think a lot of people probably were thinking, why are they even

doing this? Like how what what this is? I mean, is that why there wasn't an audience because I can't imagine what the reaction would have been

if there was a live audience. For that, they usually have a good question, well did you notice that they they they cut off each other's mics each time, which helped, I mean like it made it to where, like you know, because think about how how we wouldn't have been able to understand or hear anything they were saying because they would have been talking over each other. Although Biden can't speak loudly, no, he like Whisty can barely.

They can barely talk like say with your chest, Joe come on brother like, but I guess he can't, which is actually kind of sad. So Vinettie put this out last night, and uh, I'm sure it's there's some tongue in cheek there, and I put much into it. But then I saw a video after the fact that made me think, like maybe Evenette's right, and it was that Jill Biden or maybe Venetti shared somebody saying this that Jill Biden should be arrested and charged for elderly abuse for rolling her husband

out there. And I'm thinking, you know, that's just you know, a low hanging fruit kind of joke, and it you know, checks out like it kind of seems that way. But then after the fact, when he's just standing there, you know, kind of doing a slight wobble. You ever played the game Mortal Kombat, where like you're just waiting to be finished off, like that's what Biden looked like, and she's up there being the hype man like Joe you answered every question. It was just it made

me sad. It made me very very sad. So you know, I'm curious to see and maybe it's already out there. I haven't looked or seen any numbers yet. But as far as viewership, have you heard anything, No, because I wouldn't be shocked if it' And again this probably isn't some type of a hot take, but I feel like the viewership is going to be like, maybe not record breaking, but maybe not far from it. Because again, as much as people are like, I'm not watching that these

guys suck, we should give the people people watch. Would you get the people who weren't tuning in, they're checking on Twitter and that kind of stuff, seeing all of the shenanigans that are going on, they're going to tune in fifteen twenty minutes in and see all the nonsense that was said. Yeah, and there are clearly some real concerns for our country. Uh. And with that said, though, I still think there's a lot to be grateful of as far as what we have and our our our country. But it

was it was wild to hear any any anything Trump would say. And look, he's not presidential, you know, That's why some people are like, that's why I like him. He's not a politician. You know, he's not polished. And I feel like that's just as big as he can't get out of his own way. And there's a lot of other issues that would

make people like be uncomfortable with Trump, There's no doubt about that. But for Biden to just be like, this is the greatest country in America, Like, dude, you're not like okay, Like we we can believe that and know that and still understand that we have to have to Like that's like such a half assed way of saying, everybody calmed down, We're gonna be okay without you giving us any type of feel that we you know, any

type of explanation as to how things are going to get better. And again, I wish I could, and maybe I'll figure out who it is this is turning into a political talk show. But there was the woman who I referenced earlier, who was doing the the analyst work and referenced her phone calls

and just how many people were panicking. She said it best those that are on the Democratic side wanted to go into last night feeling reassured that they're in good shape with him being the guy that's that's But I feel like even a lot of people, I mean a little bit, a little bit of that is delusion because I think you could, you could be a hardcore Democrat and understand this, this doesn't this doesn't look good, and this may not this

this guy's probably not the one we should have out there representing that side of the party or that that side of the aisle, I should say, but like he not only did he not do that, he made anybody who wasn't really worried worried, and that's that's kind of crazy. So I don't know what but what happens the rest of the way, And obviously I'm gonna vote, but I'm not going to let it consume my life to where like I'm gonna be, you know, whatever happens. Like again, I don't know

how to say this without sounding like your vote doesn't matter. But I'm gonna vote because I feel like it is my obligation, it is my duty. But also like I'm not going to like I'm I'm I'm doing that knowing I really don't have much control. I'm one person. Does that make sense, Yes, It's like I'm not going to like, you know, I've some of the best advice I've ever been given in my life, and I still

try to follow it every day. Don't get caught up and worried about things you cannot control because it's the biggest waste of time energy, and it'll consume you and it'll wreck you. So that's kind of how I view this whole thing overall. But you know, it is just last night was I guess, the realization of kind of where we are, even though we already knew it. But seeing those two up there acting like children although they're senior citizens

not far from death is crazy. And I don't mean like they're gonna die tomorrow, but you know, these are old ass dudes, old ass dudes, and one is you know, clearly a little bit more aware of you know, what planet he's on than the other. So I don't mean to make fun of it, because I know some people are really genuinely sad about it. But I do hope that twenty years from now we're in a better place with the economy and people are always going to be yelling at each other

about politics. That's never going to change. But my son, my daughter, you know, they're not, you know, they're not. They're probably not going to remember this, right because they're so young and they were in bed like that. Even if I said the name Joe Biden or Donald Trump, I don't think my son would even know what I'm talking about, Like he doesn't know. He's a young, young kid. But I would hope

that things get a little bit more, Uh. I want to I want to be careful with my words because I don't want to act like I'm taking any real big side here, but like, I just hope that we're not things are not as contentious within this country and we're not as divided in twenty years. And then I'll play this clip for my son and tell him this was said on a presidential debate and he won't believe me, but I'll have to show him the evidence that it was said. What are you talking about?

You have the morals of an alley cat. Man, Sir, I didn't have sex with a porn star. You have the morals of an alley cat responded by I did not have sex with a porn star. I remember when he said that, I mean in my kitchen, like that exchange was insane. It was that was before the first prey too, so I remember catching that one. And it's one of those things where and there were many of these moments I think throughout the debate, but you have that brief moment

where you think like, this can't be real, is it? I mean, this is this is the golf thing? Oh that was actually you know that that's still childish and petty, but like I kind of get that, you know what I mean, Like that's which, by the way, Joe Biden would break in half if he swung a golf club. I feel like it's like, will you carry your own back? What what are you talking about? You have the morals on an alley cat mate, Sir, I didn't have sex with the porn star. All you can do is laugh,

right, Oh yeah, all you can do is laugh. All right, let's get a quick break out of the way. You gonna be a shorter segment. On the other side, we got to talk about the NBA draft because I happen to think that it's good that the Bronnie James thing took place in the middle of the afternoon and the presidential debate kind of really dampered down, and it's still gonna be talked about, like it's gonna be the it's gonna be the Bronnie James Summer League. We know that, and that'll be

annoying. But I think the Kyle Philipowski story, which is actually there's more to share from that from yesterday when we talked about it. That would be a much bigger deal if it wouldn't have happened, if things wouldn't have played out like the timing right on the presidential debate, the draft being in the middle of the afternoon, it being a weak draft. But like this, the layers to this story are wild. So we'll certainly get into that.

But a couple of gus that's going to join us, Doctor Larry Ben's probably have physical therapy around three forty five this afternoon, and then we'll talk to the one, the only, mister Jeffrey Greer coming up at four thirty. They got a big, a big match tomorrow for Racing Louisville, and you can actually get a free ticket potentially, and I'll tell you how on the other side. Keep it locked right here. It's cofee in Company feel by

Thornton's on Sports Talk seven ninety. So this is Tyler Booth. He'll be here tonight at four Street Live. Actually saw him, I guess, getting with his sound guys earlier today whenever I was making my way in and I knew who he was, knew what he looked like. I recognized him because you know, he's not somebody I listened to a whole lot of it. He's not like a superstar, but he's he's got some momentum, he's had some radio hits, and he's from Kentucky. But are you playing the video,

John, No, this is just audio. Okay, Well can you see? You can see what he looks like. His voice does not match his look. No, he's got a real deep he's got a great voice. He has like a Dustin Lynch style. He's really young and young looking. I mean he may actually be he actually may not be as young as he looks. But this voice, to me, it's got something behind it to where you feel like maybe a bigger guy. Yeah, he's not that, and he's got She was born in nineteen ninety six, So how old

does that make you? Yeah, twenty seven, A young buck like mister Alden the company man. So shout out to Tyler Booth and if you're coming down to four Street Live for a show tonight, have fun. Let me tell you this, if you have never been to a racing Louisville game, they've got to fill the fam Lynn Family Stadium tomorrow. Fill the fam game they do it every year where they try to get as many they want to

have a big crowd every single game. But they're really really putting a great effort into getting this crowd tomorrow for their four o'clock game as big as possible. So what they're doing is if you've never been to a game, they're gonna let you get in for free. So there is a link that I tweeted out at the card Connect on Twitter or ex if you call it that, And if you sign up, it's a really quick form you fill out,

you'll get a complimentary ticket for tomorrow's game, so take advantage. You also get a free t sho if you're one of the first two thousand fans that that are in attendance, and two dollars pregame happy hour. Folks. It's going to be hot as fire out there, so you know, wet your whistle with some two dollars pre game bruise. And I'm sure there's some places within to cool off and there get in the shade and have some fun.

And this is something that's really cool and it's not a bit. I mean, the promotions teams at these with the within these franchises are always doing things to try to get, you know, to make it more family friendly and just to make make you know, to give you an incentive to be there other than just watching the action that happens in the NFL. I mean, I went to a Titans game to watch my colts play a few years ago, and I was blown away, like the between at halftime and even

like some I think it might have been one of the longer breaks. I mean, they do like country music acts and stuff like. There's there's a lot of entertainment that goes on outside of just what's on the field in the court. So if you have children, you can actually have them on the field after the game and they get a chance to kick a goal. So good stuff tomorrow. Hopefully, hopefully they get a great crowd out there for their match tomorrow. You like that. I didn't call it a game.

I didn't call it a game. I called it a match. I'm talking a little footy here, you know what I'm saying, getting getting, you know, getting ready? All right. So, the the draft story that has been talked about more than anything, like the storyline I should say is Bronni James and it happened the Lakers drafted him. No real surprise, although it was hilarious to see Rich Paul the agent of course became an agent because

he was Lebron's guy. And you know there's not doesn't you talked about a whole lot, but there have been a lot of really good NBA players that have linked up with Rich Paul for Clutch Agency or whatever it's called, and then left because like it's just Lebron, Like you know, not to say he's terrible to everybody, but like you know, you're never going to be a real priority for your guy when he's representing his best friend, Lebron James,

and now his best friend's son, probably his nephew. I'm sure he calls him uncle Uncle. Rich's Paul telling people, do not draft Bronnie James. If you do, he'll go to Australia and you're wasting a pick. Like I think it was Bob Ryan who shared that yesterday on ESPN's draft coverage, and I mean, the one of the tweets I saw was perfect, Rich Paul, do not draft Bronnie James. If you do, he will

go to Australia. NBAGMS, don't worry, We're already way ahead. Of you, we have no interest in this kid who's not ready to play in the NBA. I mean it is it is a story like it is cool for them. I just wish there was a little bit more legitimacy to it, you know. I wish there was a little bit more belief that LEBRONI and for those who don't know, his name is Lebron James, I wish there was a little bit more belief that he was actually going to be able

to play in the NBA and have a long career. And he might. I'm not saying that it's impossible, because when I watch him in workouts and it's just workouts, you know, he's got insane physical attributes that makes it, you know, pretty obvious. Oh yeah, I can see why he he's he's he's Lebron James the second or junior. He's like he's he's got good bloodlines, right. I mean, he's got bounce, that is. I mean, Lebron always had bounce and still does. But he's so big

it doesn't look that impressive. Bron He's a little shorter, but he's big physically like his dad, and he can jump out of the gym and I really saw this going in a different direction. I thought he would be a serviceable, good solid freshman at USC to where he'd be drafted and we would all know that his dad, being lebron James, was a clear factor,

was the biggest factor, was the biggest reason. However, you could see, okay, he might he might turn into something, but it just didn't happen at USC now, to be fair to the young man, and this is something I got to admit, I forgot he had a like an episode at USC that kept him sideline for a while where he wasn't playing basketball because he had like a heart condition, like I don't know if you guys remember that or not, Like he was he didn't play for a while, and

and that's a scary situation in general, but it could have been to where he was a little rusty at USC, maybe not fully comfortable because of how scary that situation is. So I think this kid has been nothing but likable. I really do, Like I'm gonna be honest with you, look at how Deion Sanders kids act, and look at how Bronnie James acts. He's

professional, he seems mature, He's never childish. He doesn't get into the weeds with people on social media that talk about how ridiculous it is that he's going to be drafted. He seems mature and honestly, as much as Lebron has Lebron antics that just kind of make you want to rip your hair out. Lebron's carried himself professional. He's not been a bad guy. You don't see him getting arrested. He's not you know, he's not a jerk to the media. He treats fans with respect. Not to say he's the he's

a choir boy. But like when you are Lebron James, the best player of all time in the eyes of some if you have him behind any buddy other than Michael Jordan, I think you're flat out wrong and you're just a hater because Lebron is special. But when you are that caliber of a player, that with that kind of a reach, and you're that big of a superstar, you can't, I mean, you do anything to seem like a jerk or you know, you just it's good. You're it's gonna be under

the you know you're gonna it's gonna be magnified. And there are clearly things you can point to Lebron with his flopping, you know, his his just being Lebron. That just makes it to where like, come on, man, like really, But overall, I mean, I still think Lebron, given the magnitude of his reach, has been a pretty good has carried himself pretty well as a professional throughout all this. And his son, I think

has done the exact same thing. And I remember when he was in the recruiting right, you know, when he was in the recruiting circuit with Nike and whatnot and playing you know one, he carried his own like he wasn't out there as a bum, but you always wondered, like would he be ranked as high as he was if he wasn't Lebron's son, But like he'd play against the best players in the country, and he may not look like the best guy, but he he doesn't stand out as a guy that doesn't

belong. And I really really appreciate players who know who they are. They don't try to be anything different. And I think Bronnie James, from what I've seen, and it's not a ton he knows he's not his dad. He's not out there trying to play like his dad. He knows that defense is really his calling card. He's an elite defender and he can pick his spots like he's not out there taking over the game like his dad does. And I just think that's that's something you would say, Okay, well,

like why is that? Why does he deserve credit for not trying to take over a game? I think it's harder than you realize for a young man knowing who his father is, knowing the expectations and the hype around him, even if people don't believe it, Like he's not here's what I think in the summer league. He's not gonna take debate and try to take over a game to prove people wrong that doubted him. He's gonna play within his He's gonna play within himself. And I just think that's admirable for a guy.

I mean, look, he has got privilege and and things that he has been born into because of who he is and because of who his family is and his father. So like it's not like I'm acting as if, oh, poor kid, but it also wouldn't be easy to be in that position as a basketball player. Yes, you got drafted yesterday and it's because it's your dad. But like the noise, you're gonna hear about how you suck and that it's you know, I mean like that that that's not ideal for

a kid. So I you know, I I don't dislike Bronnie James. I just know this for what it is, and it just it's it's kind of crazy if you think about it. A really obvious joke was made yesterday and I got admit I laughed out loud. I think it might have been Stephen Shae from Barstool Sports to put it out there first before it took off, and others have tried to share it as if it's their own. But

that's the first place I saw it. But already big drama in LA as it turns out lebron James is sleeping with the mother of their latest draft bicks. I saw that, yeah, I mean like in it which it which is true. And as a father, you know, I didn't. I didn't play in the NBA and my dad didn't either, although he's have I think he got screwed. I feel like my dad would have been a great

NBA player. He just didn't get He just didn't get the right exposure and different times back in nineteen seventy nine, But there cannot be anything cooler than that. As a father and as a son, playing in the NBA with

your dad and with your like that, that gives me chills. And if it was anybody, like if it was a journeyman like Vince Carter who played until he was fifty seven, seemingly and his son was the same age, like there would have been a little more to it to where it would have feeled more believable, because like, nobody has the power Lebron has had with any within the organizations he's played for. It's like it's still cool, but like if it was a little bit more organic, I feel like it would

have been a little bit more of a sentimental thing for people. But because it's Lebron, it's magnified and it's a much bigger deal. So, you know, I get it people are bothered by it, but there's a part of me that understands. And I'm gonna be annoyed when it's all that anybody

talks about at the Summer League. And I know it is. I know, I know this whole thing is, you know, because a lot Bron, But outside of that, it's still really cold to see father and son duo in the NBA together playing together, and he's gonna be on the roster. Trust me, there's no nope scenario where he won't make their team. All right, let's talk about Eatlan and Eland. That's who you need to turn to when it comes to buying and selling a home. Usually when you're

doing one, you're doing both. Right, You're gonna put your house up for sale because you're moving into a new house. Well, Etland and Eland is who you need to trust throughout that process. They'll help you throughout every step along the way, make it as seamless as possible, and they're gonna help you save money. And that matters, doesn't it. Don't We all want to save money. They've got a one percent buyer's rebate. They also have a one percent listing. They will list your home for one percent.

I mean, think about that. So that's who you need to turn to. Etland and Eland. Check them out online at Eland dot com and you can give him a call at five oh two five nine nine twenty eight hundred. Quick Break will come back on the other side and bring in doctor Larry Binns of pro EA Physical Therapy. Right here on Sports Talk seven ninety. That's Strike Coffee and Company, rolling along here on a Friday afternoon, getting

you set for the weekend. I am looking forward to this weekend, and I say that with no plans in place, and sometimes it's nice to have a weekend like that. So we were out of town last weekend, and I feel like it's been a real busy summer thus far, but it's nice to have a low key weekend on the horizon here and then next week it's a holiday week. Right. We're a couple of part timers, actually not just us, John, but we're only here till Wednesday next week. Right,

that's right. I forgot about fourth of July coming up, and then my birthdays that Sunday, So you know, big thirty five or thirty six, what's it going to be thirty six, thirty six? The back half of your thirties? Oh yeah, I mean, thanks for a mind. I mean, I hadn't even thought of that, but it's true. And this is Look, I'm not like an old man, but it is to

the point where I don't really look. I mean, I don't really look forward to a birthday, and I haven't really liked can't wait my birthdays in a week, like it's been a long long time since I've been like that. But you know, usually people make you feel good on your birthday, right, they give they you know, they reach out to you and say happy birthday. And it really is just like a day where I mean, because it's not really about the fact that you were born that day however many

years ago. It's just like, hey, this is your day, and I want you to know. Hey, and and you know, hope you have a good day. So no plans for thirty six. I'm not sure if there's any special things that come with being thirty six, but you know,

I guess, I guess I'll find out, all right. Something else I want to get to a little bit later on in the show is a stat slash fact that I kind of feel like is going a little bit I don't know, not to say that it's being underreported just kind of feels a little bit like a stretch because it's you know, it's not it's not like it should be leading the headlines when it comes to, you know, NBA draft coverage. But justin Edwards being the first ever top three recruit to go

undrafted in the history of the recruiting rankings. Is it's kind of sad, to be honest with you, it is. Does that say more about the player or the people who rank the players. I think it says more about the people around him, because he should never have entered the draft. He didn't do anything in Kentucky that would warrant him even in a week draft, like he should have reset, meaning transferred, because he has tools. I mean, I think clearly he's nowhere near as highly rated as as you know,

as they ranked him. But he's he's a talented player, and it didn't work out of Kentucky, and most of that's on, you know, on him. I don't. I don't think he's an example of somebody where you know, we can blame Cal for for him not being as good.

In fact, Cal was. Cal was I think helped. You know, Cal was criticized and should have been because he played him too long, like he kept him starting forever, and it just it made no sense, like he's probably not even top eight to nine in year rotation at times, and he still started him like every game until the very end of the season, which I'm telling you, I believe that Cal had agreements with players that they would start. I mean, how many did he start kids at Kentucky that

you knew did not need to start. I mean, I think it's because of there was an arrangement made and one of the reasons why you got these kids is because they were told they'd start. So, you know, it's kind of sad, but I think more than anything, like, yes, he was overrated, so it's all the people who rank him and he's not as good as he was believed to be, which that's you know, that's not his fault, that's just the reality of it. But he had no

business going to this draft and now he's you know, hopefully. I mean, I no wish I have no. I don't wish him, you know, to have a terrible rest of his career, because you know, I'd be lying if I said I care what happens with his career. But you know, you don't want to be that guy. You don't want to be labeled as the guy who is the only top three player to ever not get drafted. And we'll look at some other numbers along the way, but I mean, damn, like he go back and look at the top three players

in like the last gosh fifteen sixteen years. All of them were like top ten picks, most of them, I should say, I mean some of them didn't end up being being drafted that high. But yeah, I don't

know if if you know, he's a twenty twenty three kid. So I saw some people kind of taking up with the recruiting analysts saying, hey, with COVID, with everything going on, this is one of the most harder eras of college recruiting to to really evaluate talent and personnel because you didn't get as much time to see him because they didn't have AAU for a whole year.

They didn't have high school basketball for a while. But that was a while ago, like that when COVID happened, just Nowards was like fifteen. So I don't know, I don't know if that checks out. And some I mean I feel like at one point, maybe even like when he arrived at Kentucky, one of the rankings and there's a lot of them. There's

on three twenty four to seven rivals ESPN. A'm I missing any and that's like the core, isn't it. Yes, they had him number one in the country and he I mean that just that's a that's a swing and a miss well. Also, we were also going to have to talk about the Kyle Philipowski situation because I mean, I feel sad for this kid because I

feel like he's totally been like brainwashed, manipulated, taken advantage of. And I feel bad for his family too because they I mean, I don't think you'd see his mom and brother on Twitter with strangers expressing how you know there they feel like they've lost him. And when you thought you'd be there with him on Draft night because you know he's having that big moment, you're not even in his life because this cougar who snatched him up when he was in

high school has you know, kind of taken over his life. Did you hear the new twist? What is the new twist? So for those who don't know, Kyle Philipowski has a girlfriend that he started dating when he was in high school, when he was not an adult. She was much older, she was like twenty five twenty six at the time, and his mother claims that she was that this woman because she's a woman, she's not a

girl a kid. She groomed him, she sought him out and knew he was going to be an elite recruit, which he was went to Douke, and she wanted to be his companion as he signs an NBA contract and becomes a millionaire, and you know, his parents obviously knew that it wasn't normal for there to be that big of an age gap. And instead of I guess, you know, siding with his parents and his family, he's just

now kind of under her wing. And it's just weird. But the new component here that just makes it even more weird is that she used to be the family babysitter. Oh I did see that. Yeah, that's weird. That's weird. Like you know, what's also weird too, is that she's Mormon. Correct, yes, and so he got drafted by the Jazz, which the joke writes itself, right, Yeah, but the so yesterday we were sharing some tweets they were coming in from his brother about look up like

Mormon. So what it turns out to be she's a Mormon. So so she, I guess from her family, she can't marry, she can't marry somebody that's not Mormon. So she's trying to convert him to being a Mormon. However that has done whatever that process is. And you know that's probably something his family's not cool with, and they're not Mormon, so therefore they're probably going to feel even more alienated. But he has a look about him that seemed, you know, meaning Philipowski, like I think he was a

little brat at at you know, at Duke. That's a nice way to say. He was kind of a little bitch at Duke at times when it comes to his behavior and just how he acted. Like he had the very he was a typical Dukie man. He had absolutely everything that everything you typically see in that dukie dorky brand, he had it. But he also has a look about it of innocence of like just like I could see him being

manipulated pretty easily. And what's crazy is that I know Barstool Sports did it earlier because he did like an interview with them in Chicago in their Chicago headquarters.

But there's like three or four different pictures that were taking him throughout the draft process, working out for teams or you know, working out by himself or doing media interviews, and like she's always like right there in the background, like look looking like over top of it, like she's she's like that's her pet, Like that's her ticket, that's her payday, which is disgusting if you really think about it, especially and this goes without saying, but

why not say it. Imagine if it was the other way. Imagine if it was a twenty five year old man and a seventeen year old girl and in the roles were reversed. Oh, the amount of backlash. I mean, he probably wouldn't have gotten drafted. Well, I guess that's kind of

a different situation. You already be in the MBA. Yeah, but like, also, you know, I don't want to get weird, but like it's kind of gross to think that she could have potentially known that she was older and probably always attractive, because she's still attractive now, and like took advantage of the fact that he probably had a crush on his babysitter when she was a teenager and he was a little kid, you know what I mean.

Like, that's just awful. But like I wouldn't be shocked at I mean, I think the babysitter thing, it's not a crime, but that makes it to me, it makes me really weird. Yeah, it makes you wonder he doesn't mean that, you know, they they crossed paths when he was a seventeen year old at a party and she was just you know, a little older, but he got to he was around older people because of his status as a high, highly ranked recruit. This is somebody.

She probably changed his diapers. Like, that's weird as hell to me. I didn't mean a weird but like, I didn't mean to make it weird. But like, I don't know anybody else thought about that, but like you know, I did because I guarantee you like she used that to seal the deal essentially. So I am also curious because it's gonna be it's gonna be addressed, right, It's gonna be talked about. He's gonna be asked about it, although maybe he won't because again in Utah like that that things

are just different there. You know, maybe it's things. I mean, he's still young enough he can wake up and you know, change his mind. They're not married. They're not married. But and that I'm glad you said, John, because this, the attention this is already received and probably is going to continue to get could actually be the eye opener for him as far as some transparency about like, dude, this is weird. Yes, Like you know, this is not normal talk to some people, and it's

not. It has nothing to do with the age difference, because that you know, it's it's still weird that she was that old and he was that young, but like now that they're both adults, like, it's not weird that she's eight nine years older than him. However, however big the gap is the manipulation. Yeah, the manipulation is what makes it weird, and the babysitting stuff makes it weird. So all right, Larry Ben's he had some flight issues, but he will join us hopefully here soon. We'll catch

up with him. Gonna talk to Jeff Greer and uh, I got to get some more info. I did some digging earlier, but my dumb ass couldn't figure it out. Is the NFL owe me money from this Sunday ticket lawsuit? Like I need to? You know, when I see billions of dollars owed to Sunday ticket customers like I was one for years, are they cutting the check? I don't know. All right, stick with us.
