A legacy by definition is something transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past. Our greatest legacy will be those who live eternally because of our efforts.

Jesus is in eternity's past! He has always existed and created all things. John 1:1,2 says - "In the beginning the Word already existed. He was with God, and he was God. He was in the beginning with God."
Knowing that heaven is our eternal home, how does that help us to live our life on earth today? Colossians 3:1-2 says, "If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth."
We all have a sense of eternity in our heart, and we should think about what we have to look forward to. Col. 3:1-2 says, "Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits at Godʼs right hand in the place of honor and power. Let heaven fill your thoughts. Do not think only about things down here on earth."
Eccl. 3:11 says that, "God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end." We were made for more than just life on this planet, and God wants us to be thinking and acting in a way that sets us apart for all eternity.
