Praying Bigger Prayers (Ephesians 1:15-23)
God wants us to know him more deeply. He wants us to be confident and secure in his love. And He wants us to know his immeasurable power. We desperately need these things, and they are available to us.
Welcome to Coast Evangelical Church

God wants us to know him more deeply. He wants us to be confident and secure in his love. And He wants us to know his immeasurable power. We desperately need these things, and they are available to us.
We revisit the same passage as last week to pull out three salvation gems that flow from being chosen by God. To call God as Father, to be redeemed by the blood of Christ, and to have His Holy Spirit to ensure we get over the line is about as crazy wonderful as it gets!
God is sovereign in salvation. He chooses who He will save. Jesus said: "You did not choose me, I chose you". Ephesians 1 says: "he chose us in him, before the foundation of the world...He predestined us to be adopted...we were predestined according to the plan of the one who works out everything in agreement with the purpose of his will". But this raises some big questions: Why does God choose some and not others? What about free will? Why bother sharing the gospel if God has predetermined who ...
One of the greatest gifts God gives us is - each other! Your life isn't a solo mission; it's a community project. That's the way God has designed each of us for His glory. Come and check out a few of the ways we can walk well together as a faith family in 2024.
The feet of messengers are beautiful if they bear good news. Here are 5 good reasons to share the good news about Jesus (and to make your feet more beautiful).
Jesus humbly washed his disciples feet as an act of love; as a symbolic action (pointing to the cross); and to set them an example to follow. Every time you see Sandy Feet, or a Seagull, let them remind you of Jesus' example and how he calls you to walk.
The gospel reminds us that God has been incredibly generous to us! He's given us His Son and blessed us with every spiritual and material blessing we have. The gospel also compels us to be generous to other Christians in need, and other ministries in need.
What happens after we die? We will be raised from the dead and given a new body. What will it be like? And what difference does knowing that make to my life today?
Jesus rising from the dead has defined the past, changed our future, and shapes how we should live our lives now! Come and check it out!
What are tongues and prophecy? What does it mean to be a truly spiritual church? How should we be speaking to one another when we gather?
God determines our gender. He made us male and female and established order in the way we’re to relate to one another (based on his own nature and the way he created us). He wants us to embrace and express our gender in godly and honourable ways, without blurring the distinctions. What this looks like from culture to culture will vary, and has implications for the way we dress and relate and serve at church.
Sometimes the most loving thing to do is to limit your own freedoms and to refrain from exercising your rights. What are the principles that drive this Christ-honouring way of life?
What's the connection between spirituality and sexuality? How can I honour God in my relationships and with my limited time? Should I stay single or get married?
As the Christians in Corinth navigate their new lives following Jesus, they’re having trouble understanding how God’s gift of sex should be used. Paul does a course corrective as he speaks to those in the church that are married.
As the young Corinthian church finds its feet in a city that loves sin, Paul helps them once again to identify worldly living that's dominating the community. Divisions, squabbles, and disputes permeate through the small group. Taking each other to court and fighting in public bring the church into disrepute. Have a listen to how he says to shine the light of the Gospel in a dark city.
Sometimes we need to exercise tough love in the church family. When should we exercise church discipline? Why should we do it? And what does the process look like?
What does successful Christian leadership look like, and how should we respond to it? God's criteria and expectations are quite different to what we might expect.
The Corinthian church were acting like babies when it came to their faith - and in this chapter, Paul says, 'enough is enough'! But, what steps should they be taking to begin growing up in their faith? Join us as Paul identifies some of their problems and helps them to see what Christlikeness looks like. --
As Paul writes his first letter to the church in Corinth, you'd expect him to give them a bit of an uppercut. But, uniquely, he chooses first to give them a warm, brotherly hug, reminding them of their status in Christ and the grace that God has given them to live lives that are set apart for Him and His glory. --
It is possible to be content without changing your circumstances (but you need to learn the secret!). And there are lots of blessings that come with being generous. --
Most of us feel anxious and stressed at some point and to varying degrees. Is it really possible to go from feeling anxious to experiencing joy and peace? Yes! Check out the good news for anxious people.
Discover God's purpose for your life and choose to commit yourself to pursuing it.
Paul loves writing about Jesus and the righteousness gifted through him. But, that's a Gospel truth that's under fire for the young church in Philippi. People are beginning to preach that there are other ways to be made right with God - and it's making Paul agro.
Complaining reveals some grubby things about the state of our hearts. The good news is that God is not finished with us yet, and can change our hearts to be more like Jesus.
How does God want us to relate to one another? He calls us to have the same attitude as Jesus, who humbly gave Himself for the good of others.
We all prioritise the things we love the most. We commend those things, we choose to do those things, and we contend for those things to stay important. Join us as we see Paul live out the Gospel priority in his life.
The gospel answers our deepest questions and meets our deepest needs. It shapes the way we relate to God, the way we see ourselves, the causes we give ourselves to, and the way we relate to others.
When Jesus ascends and leaves his disciples, he heads to the heavenly throne knowing they are 'mission ready'. Check out what Luke records as Jesus unleashes his followers on a broken world.
We live in a world full of disappointments, unmet expectations and shattered hopes. Sometimes we can even feel disappointed with God. How does Jesus help us deal with our deepest disappointments?
