I'm in the zone now. You are. That's what the song said. I know you're about to be in the zone. I am shocked back into the zone. Let's do it. Let's shock, shock, shock. Yeah. Zappity zap.

Yeah. So are you having any nerves about it and feeling worried or just, I was, and then, then I just kind of had this resolve last night that like, this is one of the most common things that are done medically and, and that you know it should be bing bang done and I'll feel 100 better so so what how does this go like they put you under so I go in they're gonna put me under they're gonna do a scope like an ultrasound through my esophagus to see the back of the heart okay I'll

be out cold yeah right right um once they once they determine there are no blood clots in the back of my heart and that's clear then while I'm under they will get out the paddles and they will shock me on top of your chest yeah yeah I don't want to see that and then once they shock me hopefully it goes back into rhythm and then everything like picks up And from what I've been told by the family doctor, like this AFib could have been going on for a while. And I just didn't know it.

And then that is, it could be the cause of like my coughing. Because if your blood is, if your heart is not pumping in rhythm, there's a backup of blood. And then the heart is connected directly to the lungs. And then there could be fluid in the lungs from the backup in the heart. Okay. And then once everything starts pumping correctly, that backup goes away. So will they have to monitor you frequently? I mean, once it gets back into rhythm, like what if it gets back out?

So that's something I will have to monitor. And how? So I haven't been given medical advice on that. I've been given advice from listeners. Like a lot of people have reached out to me Have you seen the commercial for the cardia where you put two fingers on and it goes to your phone and it can detect AFib immediately within 30 seconds? Not immediately, 30 seconds. Okay. And it also detects a couple other heart issues. But one listener said that is what they...

That is what they use all the time because it'll tell them immediately if they're back in AFib or not. Okay. And it's like 79 bucks on Amazon. Worth it. Yeah. You know what else is worth it for you to get? I don't know what. A blood pressure cuff. My blood pressure cuff. Yeah. I've yet to, my blood pressure has never been an issue. And like Friday, it was 115 over 70. So like everything, everything around my heart is structurally sound and it's just not beating in the right rhythm.

Okay. But can you still feel the rhythm if you want to dance or have you lost all rhythm? That's what I'm more concerned about. Well, it does not play. My dancing does not play a factor in my workouts as much as yours does. Right. I'm just saying. Okay. Well, that's unfortunate. But what I was thinking is if that would be one form of movement, you know, like to help you back on your, you know, weight loss journey is that you could do dancing. I could, you know, I could.

Do you know what the first thing I'm going to do when I feel better? Get a haircut. Oh, yes, for all of us. Yeah, my hair is so long right now. You're going to get ball cap, Scott, until I can get to my girl. So does that also affect your ability to shave? I'm just curious how those two things correlate. So you've known me for what? 10 years now? I know. Yeah. Like if I grunt, I'd grow a beard. Yeah, I know. Like it's just, it is just ridiculous.

So I just get bored sometimes and I don't want to shave. So I just let it go and I haven't felt good. So I've had an excuse. Yes. So, yeah. Um, Yeah, I'm excited to find out when you can get back to working out. I am too. I'm excited to hear when I'll be cleared. I know that, again, not medically, but listeners who have had this say that CrossFit is pretty hard on AFib, and you have to really kind of leak yourself back in. Sure. Or do other forms of exercise while getting there.

Yeah, you can monitor your intensity. Right. While still doing CrossFit movements, you know. The people's champ is in the building. People's champ. So Corey says the cornrow Scott is my favorite Scott because earlier in the chat, someone said I should take my long hair and do my cornrows. I am not Dave Castro. And I am not doing the cornrow thing. Unless they have a little shed. You have not. There may have been a day, but it has not been recently.

Yeah. You know, my Scott used to, he never wore it in a bun, but my Scott used to have long hair. You know. He just got a little haircut. Hmm. I think you're off a con. I think we haven't heard about him a long time. Nope. He's still there. But speaking of, I wore a dress this past weekend and I wore my hair down. You did. Didn't recognize you. Let's talk about how exhausted you were. I was socially exhausted. Because I had to, basically I was invited to make my husband look good.

And because this was an event for his customers. And so I had to be talky talky. And usually when I go to big events, I don't like to talky talky. I like to dance or just do my thing. And I talky talky. But have I ever told you guys, listen to this. Okay. So this was a charity event. So they had, hold up, hold up. I've been around drunk. Amy drunk. Amy likes talkie talkie. Okay. With friends. Yeah. Not strangers, not strangers. And yeah, it takes me, I got to ease into that.

So this was a charity event, which meant that we were given $25,000 and everybody to gamble and whatever your winnings were, by the way, just went into raffle tickets, of course. So lame, but it's for the children, right? So we, you know, did some gambling and then we got raffle tickets. There were three choices to put your tickets in. I told Scott, Hey, I'm pretty lucky. So I'm just telling you, I'm lucky. There's hundreds of people there.

technically I didn't win the prize but I was holding the winning ticket for one of the prizes that doesn't make sense I know I'm going to tell you why though this this older couple comes up to me right when they're about to announce them they're like hey we forgot our readers and we can't read this the tickets can you read our tickets for us if they call it and I was like here you go you just won you're like sure hold on let me I know. I should have given them my tickets and been like, oh, here.

You didn't win. Sorry. Like Beetlejuice. Oh, that's my number. But I'm just saying, that's still pretty lucky that I had a hold of the winning ticket, but I didn't win it. It's because you got to dress only, trust me. Yeah, you're right. Always doing the right thing. I know. It is. It's who I am, guys. It's who I am. I'd have taken that 25 grand and been out the door. I'll be helping children, all right. I'll be helping your children. These dinosaur nuggets ain't cheap out here.

No. You got to go to Costco for the dino nuggets, though. Oh, Costco sees a lot of my money. Yeah, they do. You know what didn't see a lot of you was the CrossFit gym today. It's true. I got a double dip this weekend, a little run. Oh, pump and run. A little open. Oh, yeah. You have the open and the pump and run. That's right. So the key is just don't train all week and then dive all the way in. It's worked out well for me in the past. Scott knows. Yeah. How has it worked well? In what way?

Well, I didn't die. So there's that. I'm already a leg up. Usually it ends with your wife yelling at you. And then you either in the hot ER or laying on the floor rolling around. Yep. All wins. All wins. This year, I got Corey I got to take care of, so. Yeah. Okay. He's not ready. So we got the open this week, and we put out some reels this weekend with everybody's kind of first open. So I wanted to ask, you know, as we're going into this open, what is your favorite open memory?

And I can go while you think. Okay, yeah. So it's funny because you and Kat really got me fired up because my favorite open memory was 2014. I remember exactly what it was. Yep. It was 14.3, the deadlift box jump workout. I lifted weight that I had never lifted before, like 12 times in that workout. And I went toe to toe with Bob Harper from The Biggest Loser. Not actually in person. Right. But on the leaderboard. Yeah. And we were one rep apart.

And I can't even remember if I won or lost, but I was one rep away from Bob Harper on that workout. And that was the highlight of all of my opens. I remember my favorite is probably it wasn't me.

doing it but it was my son when he he was 16 and he got the 185 pound clean and that just like the picture of it is amazing like just because he failed it a couple times and then he made the lift and so I would say that's it now he works out with that yeah now he's a large larger individual I think it was because of his judge I think so Yeah, hold on. Let me, I'm gonna, I gotta check on something real quick. Sorry.

One of my favorites is seeing people who are consistently on the top of the leaderboard throughout the year, every single week of the year. And then all of a sudden they just disappear. It's good times. Our, our opens were full of those people. Yeah. All of a sudden something, there's a, maybe it's a shoulder, maybe it's a knee. Maybe. What, did you ever find out what year you started Charlie? No. I'm going to go look for it right now while we're talking.

And apparently Charlie has no documented proof that he ever existed in the open. Did you already look? Because we have no pictures, no videos. Oh, yeah. To be able to do a reel on Charlie. Well, I think I can find it if we... I just need to know what year he started. I believe it was 16. Okay. Well, we're going to confirm. So with this year's open... I've already announced that I'm not going to be able to do it this year. I did 11 in a row. This would have been my 12th year.

I am not able to do it. What are your plans for the weekend? Wait a minute. Why are we not doing this? Work minimum? You're going to just ruin your streak? So you're saying I should pay $20, roll in, do one rep, and then call it a day? Yeah. Yeah. You're going to start over at zero again? Come on. Charlie, I don't know if you ever officially signed up for the workouts. When? Ever. I had to. Back then we did. Okay. I'm going to try again. Hold on. I'll go look at some point. Okay, fine.

Here we go. I found you. So what's your guys' plan for the weekend? 2016 is correct. All right. I will look for your, I will look for. Since I have the race on Sunday morning, I won't be doing it Sunday. So I'm either going to have to go Saturday. Friday. Friday. You could do it Friday morning. Oh yeah. Then it gives me a chance to do it again. Cause why not get one more rep. And why at this stage? Like in these age divisions?

Well, I also need to figure out when Corey's going so that I can get one more rep on that as well. Okay. Well, then it is worth going again if you're beating Corey. I forgot about that aspect. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Now he's going to put up a statement number, and then I'm going to question this judge. I'm going to just put that out there now. Yes, Scott. When are you planning on going? Because usually you go under the cover of darkness. I know.

And sneak into the gym when nobody's watching. I know. Here's the deal, though. I actually have definitely feeling differently about the Open this year. In the past, I have been... Judy. It's been really important. My goal is to make quarterfinals. Um, that is not my goal this year. I, my goal is to do the open this year and that's what it is. So I actually, I'm feeling less nervous about it, more excited. Like I'm just here to do the open.

I have other goals outside of the gym right now, which I'm hoping in a I'm training, and I'm showing up. We're fighting again. We're fighting again? You're fine. Nope. I don't know them, so we're fighting. You do know what they are. You're just not thinking about it, and we're not talking about it on the podcast. Okay, fine. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So... Are we on the... So, just... Sorry.

So just to let everybody know, um, in years past, we would try to do a show during the open announcement and kind of react to it. Um, we're not doing that this year. There's a lot of people doing that. We're going to lay back just to our normal Thursday night show and kind of go over it at that point. Um, and then what I would like to do is, um, get some look-ins at people's open workouts from our crew where we get some video and show that over the weekend.

So if so inclined, Amy and Charlie, the train wreck, we will, we can do that. Um, hopefully throughout, throughout the weekends of the open, it doesn't have to be all beef week one, but just periodically just to kind of do that and talk about what the open is and what it does for us. So it's a cool way to kind of look at average Joe's out there hustling.

Well, I'm definitely going to talk to my paparazzi and see if they can go ahead and, you know, do some filming or something like that so that we can, yeah, I'll talk to that, to that guy. Maybe I could even scoot over and shoot you with a camera. Then you can just get your one rep in and call it a open. I'm not letting you break this streak, buddy. Let's see what the workout is and then we'll decide. What does it matter?

Yeah. Yeah. I've got like 95% of my friends saying, you need to take care of you. You need to get your health in order. Charlie's like, screw all that. Sacrifice it all for the Open. Yeah. I mean, what if it is one burpee? You could climb down onto the ground and get back up. That I could do. Right. But if it's like deadlift 225 pounds, probably not. Okay. So let's see what it is, and then let's talk. He's not from Chicago. No. I'm not. He just thinks he is.

So the Arnold we have going on this weekend in Columbus. Yeah. We have a prospective sponsor who is giving us a podcast center in their apparel booth at the Arnold for us to interview people. We are going to try to. If I feel okay, go down and do some interviews. Charlie has agreed to do some. Jamie is going down on Saturday to do some. Oh, she is? Yeah. Okay. And if Amy wants to go, we have tickets. And Andrew Sten is lifting, so that could be someone we interview during the Olympic lifting.

We know Kat and her son are coming. Correct. Correct. With all that, we're hoping to get a handful of interviews. They built us. And what's cool is they've got a shirts already. They're going to get us some more apparel kit for us. And then they're looking to maybe sell some merch for us, which would be cool. Yeah. And I have someone working on a new design, like an alternate design. based on WAD Zombies AI version of our logo, but less nipple. When has that ever been better? I got to go.

I got to go. I got to go. I'm comfortable. And then Charlie's doing the pump and run on Sunday. And that is, if you don't know what a pump and run is, it is you bench, get as many reps as you can. Is it at body weight or at 225? At your body weight. At your body weight. And then depending on how many reps you get, that is, they take that off of your time for the 5K? Yep. So. I have two questions. Is it one unbroken set? Yes. Generally.

So last year at Polaris, during that time, we did a pump and row. So the same thing, you bench, and then you rode 2,000 meters, and you got 10 seconds taken off for every rep of bench you got. My follow-up question to that is, Charlie, how much running have you done? So in a The year I've run twice. So we really want to see if this CrossFit thing really adapts to the rest of the world. But you do have a bionic hip. I do. I'll turn that on a simmer.

So I've known you now, what, eight, nine years, Charlie? Yep. Are we going to go with the slow – And back and forth with the shuffle feet? No. For most of that 5K? No. We're going to a hot, full sprint first hundred. Don't tear your shit. So you get that picture in the crowd and you see, oh, who's this guy in the front? And then you get the finish line video of another full sprint. Like, oh, this dude is coming in hot. And what about the in-betweens? Don't worry about those.

I am most worried about those. I might be in a cab. I don't really know yet. Well, I just checked the weather and it's 65 and sunny for Sunday. And that's a good thing. Or if it was snowing, you would not have seen me out there. Why isn't Charlie doing the pumping room? Well, it snowed today.

it's below 60 so so speaking of that scott the other day charlie and I were texting and we were asking about his running and he said it's snowing outside I'm not that's that's how people hurt themselves as is out to hurt themselves okay my rebuttal was actually doing a race and not training is how people hurt themselves Listen, if I can't run three miles after doing CrossFit, then we have larger issues. You can run it.

So I would agree with you if the word consistency consistently was in front of CrossFit. You always got to bring technicalities onto this podcast. I'm about tired of it. I'm about tired of being called out here. Yeah. I mean, you'll definitely be able to do it. I'll do it. Yeah. Listen, we're going to get a home run on the bench, just to be completely blown up for doing 30 reps. And then... But then you don't have to go right away. Is that correct? I believe that to be correct.

Okay. But I think I'd rather just go. So where are you sitting weight-wise? Oh, about 205. Ooh. I was saying if you were sub two, man, you could crank out some bench. No, I'm not really 205. I'm like 175. I was going to say. Okay. I just can't. Well, 175, man, you should like, like, I do have to give you, you are one of the best bench press people I've been around. Like you should rep out that. At a pretty good clip at 175. Well, for sure.

Part of that reason is, is because his shoulders are permanently internally rotated. And I've been this long. Part of my daily routine, but you know what? There's a lot of things we should be doing. No, Charlie is going to crush it. We're just talking smack because it's fun. But he's going to crush it. Yeah. And where are they holding that? Are they holding that at the convention center or in the park? I couldn't tell you. Just minor detail.

I'm just going to walk around and hope I see people running and then just fill in. Hop on a bench. Excuse me. Yeah, you guys. You guys done here? I need this. Oh, good Lord. All right. Well, just as out there, Dave Castro put out a picture of a mushroom. A mushroom hand? That's weird. So he did say on his week in review that that mushroom was real and it was actually on the ranch.

And he went to pick it to use it as a demo, like a prop for the open announcement this week and it was gone so he doesn't have the prop so he's just going to have to do the open announcement without it but does the mushroom tell you anything because people be talking and what I want to know has any of the clues ever made sense have we ever gone back and looked and said oh this made sense to what it was They make something around about Ray. Like, oh, okay. Yeah. I guess I could see that.

Cause I heard a couple of things where one person was like, well, if you eat shrooms, you're tripping. So it's double unders. And then, um, you know, Mario jumps on top of a box and to box to grow bigger with the mushroom. So it's gotta be box jumps, you know? So, I mean, Yeah, I think, like I said last week, I think it's 14.3, my favorite workout again, because of increasing weight, decreasing reps. I did like that one. I'd be cool with that. That'd be great. It's like an arrow point up?

I'm not even saying that. What was 14.3? It was box jumps and deadlifts but couldn't you could could you box could you do step ups you could okay that's what I remembered yeah tall yeah it was very like um it was very open like anybody could do it right because you could step up and and the the weight started it for men at like 135 um and then it went up pretty rapidly to where like I think like I ended up at 315 or something In that workout? Carolyn, I hope it's not.

Somebody said seven minutes of burpees. I would rather seven minutes of burpee than ten minutes of max burpee box jump overs. You're going to hurt your mushroom head. You will hurt that. Carolyn's choice is not popular in the crowd. No, it was. Here's what it was. It was in eight minutes, 10 deadlifts at 135 and 95, 15 box jumps, 15 deadlifts, 185, 135, 15 box jumps, 20 deadlifts, 225, 185, 15 box jumps, 25 deadlifts at 275, 185. 15 box jumps, then 30 at 315 and 205.

That's where you were talking about. 15 box jumps and then 365 and 225. For the box jumps, athletes may jump or step up as long as both feet start on the ground and both feet end on the box in control. And that's when everybody started stepping up on the corner. Yeah. Which they've since outlawed, correct? Yeah. Oh, yeah. But I still think it's a good method to do step ups. Yeah. So I do have a change of subject real quick.

I just finished behind the scenes, but I wanted to ask you, Amy, did you get a chance to watch the Haley video? I've been watching it. I'm not done, but I really like it. It is so good. It is very good.

I'm I think I'm a little more than halfway through but I'm going to finish it today it's it's very um I think it's very well done um and yeah it's it's an interesting insight into into her um and her growing up and and training and There's a piece right before the end where like, where like he brings it all around and kind of does a synopsis with her and she starts tearing up and it is. Oh, good. That's what we're just talking about, Andrew.

I think it is the best piece of content that's come out from CrossFit in 10 years. Yeah. Okay. Good. Well, let's give Bill some good props for that because this is on his YouTube. Yeah. So if you have not seen it, please go check it out. It is really good. Highly endorse that. I also finished Behind the Scenes. I know that the free versions are catching up pretty quickly. Yeah, they are.

And, but what I will say is, man, I forgot, like, like I made a wild statement on Thursday night, not one, I believe. And I've been making this call that Emma Lawson will win the games this year. And I think she will shock the world, beat Tia and Laura. Okay. Then I watched the behind the scenes and I forgot she had the leaders Jersey until the last event. Alexis Raptors had it too early on. Yeah. Early on like day one.

but emma had it for the whole middle of the competition and laura didn't get it back until the last event or didn't get it until the last event and if you think laura has a shot then you got to think emma has a shot because people have said that I'm crazy for the pick a few people have given me kudos but um but yeah that was pretty crazy to me I just forgot that that she was in the lead that far into the games yeah how does anyone say she doesn't have a shot So it started with Will

Branstetter made the comment for the barbell spin pole that if you put Emma first, you should be kicked out of the pole. If you didn't put Tia first, you should be kicked out of the pole. Oh. Well, it's been two years since Tia set foot on the floor. So much can happen. And just like that, all of a sudden we get clips of her in a wrist brace going into the first week of the Open. Oh. Wow. She'll get through the open. Yeah, but what's wrong with her wrist? Is it going to affect her at some point?

And I'm not saying that it is. I'm just saying nobody knows when that stuff's going to happen. So to make a blanket statement that a person is definitely going to win, it's sports. Stuff happens. Yeah. Roman. Right. Well, Which poll are we talking about? Yeah. Okay. Apparently this, the poll where they're talking about Alexis Raptus' mom, that poll is the only one that Amy Kringle has a shot on. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. I haven't seen the mom yet.

because I know you're a fan of the daughter a huge fan yeah great athlete so um the last thing I wanted to bring up and that is just because they're a partner of ours um the teams have made an announcement that they have a venue for the games um and it is pretty sick so I'm going to share my screen super quick This is their new home. So of the three days of the teen CrossFit games, or four days, I can't remember, most of them will be at this arena in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

It's a minor league hockey arena. So the teens get a jumbotron. They get an arena to hang out in. And then one day we'll be at the pit where it's an old – uh, gravel quarry, um, that they've been holding the pit at, or the, the pit throw down at for the last four years. So one day like outdoor events at the pit, the rest of it here in this arena. Um, so super stoked for them, uh, that they'll get to have that as a, as a teen athlete. And I heard rumor.

I don't know if it's true that they got go rock as their apparel sponsor. So the teams are going to get outfitted pretty good. Um, Um, but yeah, so super stoked for the teens. Um, and that, that's a big move for them to have that. It's not a massive arena. It's just a little one, which is what they need for what they're doing. Right. They don't need 10,000 seats. They need a couple thousand and to make the kids feel special.

So super stoked for them and shout out to Stephanie and Brock for pulling that off. Looks awesome. Yeah. So other than that, good luck this week. Thanks. We'll be talking to you. Good luck to me. We'll, we'll revisit on Thursday what the workout is. Okay. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Yeah, that is right. Corey masters with the obscure clothing line from like the Netherlands or something. All right. I'm going to, I'm going to. All right. All right.

With that, we'll catch everybody next time on the Clydesdale media round table. Bye guys. Tune in this week for Arnold coverage. And I'm trying to find the video. There we go.
