Hi, I'm Topher Burns and I love gardening. There's always something happening. New leaves popping out at a plant or a bug crawling by that you didn't know, lived in your neighborhood. You're outside with the warm sun and the smell of the earth and growing things. And you get to make new friends. The birds that visit your feeders regularly, or your neighbors, you never stopped to say hi to before. And your relationships with the bushes and trees in your yard last for years or even decades.
When I'm outside in my garden, I feel like I'm living on plant time. The world slows down to do lists, fade away and the simplest details like the brown paper texture of the underside of a Magnolia leaf become endlessly fascinating. I think everyone needs to spend more of their life on plant time. Clippings is a podcast where we'll do that together. It's a gardening show from a certified non-expert gardener me. I'll share the simple tips. I know we'll work on projects together.
I will screw up and we'll learn a lot along the way. When things get tough, we're going to call my mom because she knows way more about this stuff than. And fair warning. I might tell a story or two about my cats. I'm so excited for you to join me. So come on, let's get outside.
