Episode description

Despite not having Kawhi or PG, the Clippers did show a lot of heart to try and continue their season. Unfortunately, their season did come to end in Game 5 of the first round at the hands of the Phoenix Suns, 136-130. This game was also Noah Eagle's final broadcast with the Clippers Radio Network, as Adam Auslund and Jake Warner surprised him in Phoenix with some proper farewells. We also hear from head coach Ty Lue and your phone calls.

Transcript

The game is over. Paul George money in the pain, but the postgame reaction has just be gone. GOHI Leonard is so smooth in the mid range. This is Clippers locker Row, a recap of today's game and a look ahead on your home for LA Clippers playoff basketball. Now your host, You, sir, are a bad man, Adam Oslin, And with that, the Clippers twenty twenty two twenty twenty three season comes to an end at the hand of the Phoenix Suns as they lose Game five here in Phoenix, Arizona

at Footprint Center, one thirty six to one thirty. Welcome into your postgame show. I'm Adam Oslin. Coming up. We'll get the second half highlights, your post game boxcore. You'll hear from the head coach and the players. But first I want to get back to your voice of the Clippers in Noah Eagle. It was Noah's final broadcast as your voice of the Clippers, and we've been damn lucky to have him the last four seasons. I call

him the young Goat for a reason. And before I get too much into the mushy stuff here, Noah, I'm a little worried I do want to talk about this Clippers season the way it ended. Obviously unfortunate not having the two on three connection out there, but there are reasons to hold your head high, Clipper Nation. This team fought and showed exactly who they were down the stretch of this ball game. If this didn't make you feel excited about

what's to come for this team, I'm not really sure what will. It's gonna happen at some point for this team, and I just want to make sure that's known. And I want to make sure that people understand. Because I've lived it here these last four years with all of you and Clipper Nation, I understand why anyone would feel frustrated, why you feel like it's never gonna go the right way. It always does eventually, And I always say that good things happen to good people. Well, Steve Bomber is as great

of a person as you'll find. He does great work for the community. He treats everybody with nothing but respect, care and admiration. He actually genuinely takes an interest in people that he doesn't have to do that way. And so I wholeheartedly believe that for a person like that who cares so much about this team, and it's such a big fan as all of you. It's gonna happen eventually for him. He knows he's gonna he's gonna put all the

resources to work. He's gonna make sure that they find the right places, He hires the right people, he brings in the right players, the right coaches, doesn't matter. So I do want people to remember that it is going to happen for this team. Eventually. The stars are going to align. And if there's anything we've learned about the last few years in the NBA, it's not just who the best team is, it's who's the best team

that's also healthy. And we're seeing in the playoffs right now the Memphis Grizzlies, John Morant's playing without a shooting hand, essentially, Daron Fox is about to do the same thing for the Sacramento Kings. In the series that has been wildly, wildly entertaining. You've got Janis who is playing through an injury and last night lost to the Miami Heat in dramatic fashion. You've got Joel

and Bide who's now out with a knee string. We're talking about the top players in the NBA and of course Kawhi Leonard and Paul George fit into that, but the top players in the NBA who can't be there for their team right now. So luck certainly plays a role, and at some point the luck is going to turn in the favor of this team and this organization.

They do everything the right way. They do too much the right way for it not to so I just I think everybody needs to remember that, and they also need to remember just how proud they should be of the way this team fought, the way this team showcased themselves for a national audience against the firepower of four super duper stars, three first ballot Hall of Famers, and without Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, had chances to win every game. That's

unheard of. There's no other team that can say we could go ahead and do that. There's very few teams that lose all their superstar power and then let the rest of their team go and say, we're gonna make you work for everything. Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Chris Paul. But that's what this team did. So be proud and I like what you used. Hold your head high after what this team just did. In the last couple

of games. We saw a little bit of this at the end of the run in twenty twenty one when they made it to the Western Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history. But the Clippers were getting respect from a lot of different places. The other day, I was at a bar, Shocker and a Laker fan said, you know what, if you guys had PG. Thirteen, if you guys had Kawhi Leonard, I'm convinced you would

win that series. You would win this series. A Laker fan said that, and I saw a lot of the same stuff back in twenty twenty one. Snoop Doc, a well known Laker fan, saying, these Clippers are tough, they got dogs, and this team I couldn't be more proud of the way they played in this series. Despite the talent advantage the Phoenix Suns had, where it just felt like eventually talent one out, they would overwhelm you by the time the game ended in the second half, even with the

Clippers putting up value effort. Every time the Clippers put together a run, it felt like they had an answer. Devin Booker more than anybody else, who had forty seven points eight rebounds and tennisis today. And I think a lot credit goes to Devin Booker for the way he played in this series. He was he was probably the best player in the playoffs once Kawhi went out, because the first two games, I think Kawhi Leonard was proving that he

was the best player in the playoffs. He had thirty seven in Game one, grinded them to a victory. In Game two, he had thirty one on a bad knee. I mean, yeah, that's ridiculous. He's superhuman. But Devin Booker since Kawhi went down, has completely taken that title. He has been the best player in the postseason. To go for forty seven, eight and ten in the elimination game is big time stuff. And to have Kevin Duran on your team, who had thirty one in this game.

But to have Kevin Duran on your team basically saying, nah, he's good, he's got it. That's when you know you're really special. So for the Clippers to not just fight, but have chances to win pretty much all those games again goes back to the culture, goes back to everything that they've built up, the energy. I think Russell Westbrook deserves all the flowers in the world for the way that he's handled himselves since getting to the Clippers.

I think that Norman Powell shooting struggles in games won two and four, but in Games three and five when they needed him in a big way, he came through in a big way. Mason Plumley, I mean Mason Plumley today went for one of his best games of his career, twenty ten and three off the bench in twenty four minutes of EACHA Zubots had a double double nineteen for Batum, who finally makes big shots and almost helped save the season. So so many guys I could go out, you know, Terrence and Man's

god in double figures every game this series. So I just this team deserves so much more praise than anything else, And if they're getting anything else, then I just think everyone's just drinking too much hate to rate at them. I don't like Haytor rate, I like gatorade. I don't like hat rate. I don't like Haytor raid Frost. I don't like hay toor raide zero. I no want I don't want any hat rate. I don't care how much it is. I don't care how little it is. Don't drink the

hator rate. This team deserves none of it. This team deserves just praise for the way they competed, the way they fought. And now it's gonna be an offseason, no doubt, but an exciting one. And I can pretty much promise you that because I know that this team and this organization there never they never get complacent. They're always looking for ways to improve, always

looking for ways to put themselves over the top. I told you Steve Bomber will do anything it takes to win, so you're always in good hands, just like all states. The saying goes, the biggest advantage in sports is ownership and Clipper Nation, I think you have the best owner in the league, who's committed to winning, who's committed to helping this team break through. They did a couple of years ago getting to the Western Conference finals for the

first time. There's still that next step, obviously, but Noah, as you said earlier, it is going to happen. The leadership is there at the very top, which means you always have a chance to win. It's only a matter of time, And so the saying goes, good things come to those who wait. The Clippers and Clipper Nation. They've been waiting a long time. I get it, but to stay patient, stay the course. It's coming. It's just it's happening, and they've got all the right

pieces and too many right pieces for it not to happen. So in due time, it'll all come together and click and the luck will be in the right place, the skill and the town will be in the right place, and that's when it is the most fun at them. It's only a matter of time. Congratulate the Phoenix Suns who do move on to the second round. They're taking on the Denver Nuggets in Round two after they eliminate your Los Angeles Clippers today here in Phoenix, one thirty six to one thirty in Game

five. This was Noah Eagle's final game as your voice of the Clippers. We've been blessed to have him Clipper Nation, and this isn't just the same because it's your final game. It's been happening for years where people have been calling into Clippers Talk and saying, I'm so glad Noah Eagle is with us. So you didn't have to wait long to get your flowers or just happened because you're leaving. Noah, it's been happening for years. Clipper Nation loves

you. We appreciate you. Jake and I drove here just in case this. I still don't actually think you guys are here like I still there's still like a part of me that thinks you guys are like holograms or something. Oh we're here, bro here, We're going to miss this for the world. Man. I know. That's why I love you guys. There's a couple of things I want you to be able to hear. Zachocaldy is back

in Burbank. He's our producer tonight. We'll start with this. But Noah Eagle for the listeners here, and some have asked why he does it, and I'll explain it right now. At the three oh five mark of each in every quarter, Noah Eagle says, shout out pit bull. He is mister three oh five. That's why he says it. Now. Don't get too excited here, Noah, you get don't get so excited. I may have gotten the next best thing, the number one pit bull. It's a

person since the world wide Chicken in che get out. Who is sober there? Oh my god, it's no Eagle, the men played by playing men for the Ela Cleepers, and every time that you see Cluck hits five, thanks to thanks for that. I know that you are leaving the team off their decision. I'm babby, Guido is the best. I just want to say, just when I wish you the best for you in your future. I heard that you are moving on the new endeavor in jury bench for a

whole of time broadcasting career. Oh my god, Poppy, I just want to say things. For the shoot out each quarter from mister three or five, it's a people in person who run say dally okay. So was that like the Russian pitfall? Was that like like John Malkovich comb the budget? That was awesome? Are you kidding me? That was? That? Was awesome? If there was so, I said, if there was a way to go out for the Clippers, that was it to fight and claw your

way all the way back from twenty down. If there's a way for me to go out, that's it. I I can't top that. Are you kidding me? Well? We aren't done yet, oh Adam. Because we have the best imaging man the business, Bob Schmidt, who put together this piece along with a lot of us at AM five seventy LA Sports, and I want you to hear this. We'll play it again at the very end of today's broadcast, but I wanted you to hear it as well, all right, Zach hit it. He joined us in the summer of twenty nineteen.

The stands share of sector in Hannolulu, Hawaii, aig he earned fresh out of Syracuse. It's not about winning the summer, It's about winning the season. And for four years he served as the voice of your Los Angeles Clippers. The play dominance, It's stable center through to win thirty nine for three men, three seconds left, step back eighteen, butter foh Kawai letter, through the losses, and the most successful season in Clippers history ends in

defeats, all with an incredible appreciation for you, the fan. He delivered. This season marks the end of Noah Eagles time. Is the voice of the LA Clippers. This is up for basketball, new challenge. It's lad diving into the fray in prime time. So we're Big ten football for NBC this fall. But from every LA Clippers fan, and we think that you're a first class Allan Cary, that guy is incredible. the city of Los Angeles. You're welcome. You're welcome. That's it all be gonna say. The Home of the Clippers. Man, Oh, this is too much. This is too much. That was amazing. I mean from the second I got there and I was in LA was one of the first people I met, and to your point, Adam, I mean, there's no one better. And he made me feel safe, comfortable, excited for whats ahead. And then you guys took that to another level. So Adam and Jake, I don't know why I'm gonna do without you. On

a day of the day basis. You know that you know how it's gonna go. But just blow up our texting thread. That's all. Well, that's a guarantee. That's a guarantee. And I'll be sending shoes. I'll be sending whatever I'm wearing my chucks. You send when you wear your chucks. When I have protein, you have protein. We'll just we'll match it up. We'll make sure that we're all sicked together. But no, you guys, you guys know you mean the world to me, and Clibernation all

the listeners, you mean the world to me. It's been an incredible journey and I've loved every single second, truly truly loved every single second. I'll never forget all the memories that we got to make, all the terrible dances we got to do whatever, whatever it happens. And I mean, maybe I'll just shout out Pitpboll one more time, like I do kind of want to thank him too, just for he's made me who I am. I guess right, you know, with his public since eventually gets back to me,

I will have no You guys are the best. This was This was amazing. You guys want above and beyond, which I mean, that's kind of what I expect from you anyway, That's what you do on a daily basis. So to come here and surprise me that's one thing. To bring all this extra stuff as another. But it's all of and I know I'll miss all all of you guys, all the listeners and everything in between.

But thank you for everything, Big Bro, Jake Warner head engineers here, Big Bro, you want to say anything though, No, you know you've been a big part of my life. You know, in and out of the arena, you've heard a lot of my crazy stories and you've never just want to share summer. You know I will, But you know it's almost ten o'clock, say Barbara ours but above and be all you know, like just being around you, you bring the vibes, your calls have been amazing,

and above all, it's just your easy going. You're fun and easy to work with. I've worked with a lot of greats, a lot of Hall of famers, man, but I see your future Hall of Tramer right here sitting to my left, and I feel blessed and honored to be a big part of your soon to be amazing career. You know you're gonna be the biggest and baddest star out there. And I'm glad I get a little blurp of that, man. And I can't thank you enough for you know,

putting up with me for the last four seasons. And and I love you to death. You know that. And I'm so happy for you, man, And could have happened to a better guy, honestly, more than a little blurp man, you are. You are the entire synopsis. I'm going to promise to your mom, dude. She said, make sure my baby's all right, and I said, I got him all right. Shout out to Lisa if you still listen, if you're still up and listening, I do know that. And you are a man of your word. You

are a man of your word. You delivered in spades, in spade. I love you, brother. No I remember, and that's why we included that audio of you in Hawaii on your first broadcast a preseason game Clippers in Houston Rockets. I was like, staying, sheriffs their what is that? And then I remembered it was like, oh that's right, no Bs. And I know this may sound, you know, like something I've been holding

in for a while because I have. But I remember because the first game Lebron played in his NBA career, it was against the Sacramento came So I'm in Sacramento, I'm watching that game. I remember the first shot he hit and the way he moved out there, and I thought to myself, this guy has a chance actually to be something different than what we've ever seen before and be a new Goat or the Goat. And the first time I heard you on that broadcast in Hawaii, I thought the same thing to myself,

that this guy has a chance to be the greatest of all time. And I have only believed that more and more throughout the years. You have been incredible with your leadership and professionalism and your entertainment factor that you bring to this broadcast. There's nothing else like it, my friends. So I am so proud to have worked with you. And I know, I know the young Goat his rising above as you move along here in your career, and we

were just lucky to have you these last four years. It has been amazing.

Man. I feel like right now I'm Cuba Gooding Junior at the end of Jerry McGuire, like I'm not gonna try, I'm not gonna cry, but no. I so from the first time we all did a broadcast together, first time the three of us were together in particular, was back in Los Angeles for the first home preseason game, and I just remember getting the headset off and driving back and talking the next day to my mom or my dad or somebody, and I just said, that was like the most comfortable

broadcast I've ever had. And keep in mind, I was young. I get it, but I was like, it just felt right right off the bat. We just kind of mixed right away. And the amount of people that have come up to me and said, so, how long have you got Have you known Adam and Jake for like before you got there, right, I'm like no, They go, well, it just feels like you guys have known each other for ten, fifteen, twenty years. And I'm like, well, it feels that way because we act that way, you

know, we make it seem that way. But aside from that second game in Hawaii being against the Shanghai Sharks, I've never felt uncomfortable doing this job. And that's a huge, huge thank you to both of you guys, because you know, you made me feel right at home from day one, so I've held off the Rod Tillman tears and we'll see if I can. I can continue that in Rodwey Dross Baby, but no, I love both you guys, I really do, genuinely, and you are always my family,

not just Dom Toronto style, but for real. So I appreciate it. You want to throw it to id one more time? Oh yeah, oh yeah before we step away? Less pause ten seconds. Four. The Clippers tried to mount a fast and furious comeback late to save their season and extend it one more game, but it was not to be. They fall here in Game five from Footprints Center in Phoenix, Arizona. They lose one thirty six to one thirty and that concludes this Clippers season. Welcome into Clippers Talk. I'm Adam Oslin.

To eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy. If you want to get on, you can talk about what you'd like to see with the future of this ball club, what changes could be made roster wise. We could talk about and reflect on this year and some of the highlights the low lights. But I do feel like the Clippers left you, of course, wanting more because of the fight they showed out there tonight. It was a classic almost Clippers come back down twenty

down twenty and they had it to within two multiple times late. The way they rallied in the valley was impressive considering the guys who were out there, the players who were available without Kauai, without Paul George, without your two top guys, and well they lost this series in five games to the Suns. Anyone that would contextualize this would say was much closer than that if you really watched these games. The Clippers had their opportunities, they were in them.

But I said it off the air, it just felt like the talent of the Phoenix Suns, that vice gript was just constricting and eventually it would overwhelm the Clippers. Just too much talent, and talent eventually rises to the top. With the talent disparity being so widely in favor of the Phoenix Suns throughout this series, the Clippers did all they could. I think they maximize

their chances. Guys played above their heads, and they made it a lot scarier for Phoenix than I'm sure they thought the fight would be from the Clippers. After Kawhi Leonard was out after Game two of this series. Tough one Clipper Nation, I get it. Tough season overall, in a lot of different ways. Clippers won forty four games in the regular season. I thought

for the most part, they underperformed even with the injuries going on. They left some wins out there, but they ended up I think getting the right team in the first round. They just didn't have their guys, and it's too much to overcome when the other squad has Devin Booker and Kevin Durant and

CP three and DeAndre Aiden and you're missing Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. But can't fault the fight, the effort, the hustle, the determination, the resilient spirit of this Clippers ball club that has been there for years now, really since that twenty eighteen twenty nineteen season. This felt a little bit similar to when they were going up against the Kevin Durant led or at least Kevin Durant Golden State Warriors ball club. Clippers were able to take that one to

six games, not able to do so tonight. I know a lot of people aren't interested in moral victories. Some are. I understand both sides of that. If you want to talk about this season being a failure because we

came into it saying it's a championship or bust year, it's understandable. But once Kauhai went down, the odds were just stacked against them to a point where I said, if Chair Paul George don't come back in this series, they're not going to be able to win three more games against the Phoenix Suns.

They made it interesting in these games, some bad breaks, a few calls didn't go their way, but tonight down twenty and a few guys caught fire finally from beyond the arc, and the Clippers had it to within two multiple times, and I loved that effort. They didn't quit, they didn't give in. I think a lot of teams would have succumbed to just the firepower of the Phoenix Suns being in the Lions then here in Phoenix and would have wilted and given up and said, Okay, we're playing out the string.

Now it's over. They didn't say it in any of the last three games. They were right there. They couldn't get over the hump, and talent wise, Phoenix was just too good, too top heavy, going up against the depleted Clippers team without their two superstars. Clippers lose one thirty six to one thirty here in Game five. And we can also talk about Noah Eagle and some of your memories over the four years of him being your voice of the Clippers. This was his final broadcast. If you missed it didn't

extended postgame show on the network side with Noah Eagle. It will all be podcasted later tonight. Let's start things off with let's see Javier and l habber Heights because he calls in first, always like an hour before the game and sometimes Javier, you're on Clipper Stock with Adam Oslin. What's up, Javier? It was man very disappointed, real quick. I didn't here, so No Eagle, he's not going to be what the Clippers in one I didn't. I didn't know that he's moving on. Javier, but we love him

and we were lucky to have him here for four seasons. Oh yeah, it was pretty Yeah, he was. He was doing a good job. Stays to hear that, you know what, it's just disappointed. We talked about this in the beginning of the year, I think the first the first game, and we both said that this is probably the best Clipper team ever

assembled. And to crash like this, I mean it just goes to I don't know, you remember in the middle of the season, maybe in January February, I think it was late January at that road trip, the seven game road trip, and I told you, Adams, they got when some of these games and they lost may games ship of one, and You're like, you know what this load management. We're gonna say Kawai for the playoffs

and we're gonna be fine. And I said, nah, he should, we should, we should, we should win some of these games, Like, no, we need him for the playoffs. All that load management for nothing, Adam? I mean, I mean, and you even said, I remember that day, said across that bridge, if he gets the qualify into first round, and who we are you got disqualify into first round? Well, I wouldn't say it was load management for nothing. All reports say

it's not the al, the surgically repaired ACL that he hurt. But yes, another injury to both their superstars derailed this season for the Clippers. Third straight season. It's come down to injuries. And I'm hoping this two one three era isn't going to be defined by the injuries and the miss games.

But to this point, that's where we're at. And and and real quick and just just like you, I mean just big sports media, like you know, Skip Bayless, Colin Coward and Stephen a smith at the last couple of days have been saying, you know what, they should just either trade Kawai or Paul George or some has even said to have Kawhi retired. I mean, it's to the point that it just hurt. No. I couldn't

care less what those three say about pretty much anything. But if you want to add one more the four horsemen of the sports Talk hot take apocalypse. Just to wrapped it out nicely, yeah, you know, but it just it just for diffornation. It's just frustrating, you know. And when when they did that trade and they've got Kawai and Paul Georgia, the weeked off. For sure, they're going to get at least one or maybe two championships. But now, honestly, Adam, next year they're gonna be what on

their fifth season with the team. These guys, these Kawai and Paul Georgia getting old. I mean, so, what's your solution in hobby or what do you want to do? Okay, this is my solution is either you trace for one of them if you can train both. And I know you said last time, Adam, you said, well, what are you going to get back? Some guys that they're gonna be, you know, decent

players, but not gonna take you to to the finals. But at least you can get some draft picks back Adam, some some lot, some some picks something, a young guy something, because you want to go into a rebuild mode. Yeah. And another caller called you the other day and said, oh, no, we should not do it, that we're the Clippers. I'm like, hello, I mean we all do. Respecting me, I love the Clippers. We're not the Lakers, we're not the Celtics.

Why not we can't rebuilt, we don't have any championships. Because when you're this close and you feel like if you could somehow stay healthy, you'd have a chance to win it all, it's tough to go back into that place where you're just fighting and scrapping to win thirty five games in the season and looking towards the future all the time. But I appreciate the phone call Hobbier, and I understand that perspective. Some people may want that to blow it

up. Others may want to trade one of the stars, some both. I've said this before. I think you stay the course and double down because you're getting pennies on the dollar right now for Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. And if anything, we heard this from Steve Baumber recently. He always wants this team to be competitive. They may reload at times, but it doesn't

sound like he ever wants to go into a full rebuild. The Clippers have twenty thirty first round picks opening up, so they'd have two first round picks that are tradable. They have a lot of guys on tradable contracts, and there are some players out there that aren't necessarily free agents right now, but I think are going to be tradeable pieces for teams who do want to rebuild, and the Clippers may get in the mix for some of those guys.

One more before we break here, let's go with Dave Morris in Long Beach. Morrise, what's up, hey, Adam? Look here, man, nothing is changed in basketball. The best players they win. They's spade up. Two and two is four in regarding the team. Go ahead and bring this team back. We ain't got no chap. You cannot rebuild in the Western Conference. My prayers is going after that was you cannot rebuild in the Western Conference. We've asked them bad luck, man, Straight up, but

that ain't no reflection on the team or the management. Okay, And whatever player you get and a combo Joe, I don't care who it is. I like the Joker, that's my MVP. It don't matter who you get it. You ain't guarantee that gang gonna get hurt. You're not. Ain't nobody guarantee that, and nothing's guaranteed, and I understand that, but you have to admit that the Clippers two guys are obviously injury prone. Okay, no, no, look here, wait a minute. I don't know about

two guys, but I'll go with Kawaii is injury prone and everything. But Georgia, we gotta be real. We gotta be honest about it. Okay, I'm being real. I'm being You got to bring these guys back, Okay, got a chip on their shoulder. Now, maybe they'll take a little less money the old mister Bamber a couple of bucks. But don't be talking about in the rebuilding because you can't be builds in the West. And also there's no guaranteed, Adam, that the player is gonna be ready for

the playoffs. And I like the the middle. I like what the Clippers are doing with zoo Box and Parmaly. I hope they keep him, and my heart is broken. Man. Then No Eagle is gone because No Eagle got a skill set if you want to, if you don't think No No Eagle is sharp. But this is that other guy across town. And I don't know who you're gonna get to be playing. We don't have to go there, Morris. We don't have to tear someone down to build someone else up. And no, No, No Eagle is the bomb you. We're

gonna miss him. We really is, We really are. But don't be trading the team. Don't be blowing nothing up. Adam. Just we had to stroll bad luck again. That's not a reflection on the team. That's not a reflection on management. It's just when things happened. Ask new warnings about it, ask Milwaukee about it. It's just one of the things that happened. Man. So I see you in October, okay, during the preseason. Behave yourself all right, Morris, appreciate you all season long.

Is always Morris is one of our regulars here on Clippers Talk. So that's the other side of it. One guy wants to blow it up, another wants to stay the course, run it back, give it another shot. I think regardless they are going to be changes, how significant they are, well, this summer will decide that. Coming up next more Clippers Talk. Final Clippers Talk of the season. There was blocked by George. This is

La Clippers playoff basketball. He is a one man, the defensive man on the home of your La Clippers. I come back to bring it to within two multiple times after they were down by twenty here in Game five. They eventually lose though one thirty six to one thirty to the Phoenix Suns. Congratulations to them as they move on to the second round to take on the Denver

Nuggets. Welcome back into Clipper's Talk. I'm Adam Oslin. As we look back on this season and look ahead as well, and any ideas are welcome tonight. I don't always say that, but after the season is over, Yes, let's keep a constructive criticism, of course, but anything you want to say about this Clipper's team and where they should go moving forward is allowed tonight Here on Clipper's Talk, Let's go to Damien in La Damien. What's

up, pace Pace, Adam h Man. Good to hear your voice, brother, Uh, you know what, man, Tonight I'm gonna leave the team and all of that to the rest of the wonderful callers you know, and shout out to all you guys. It's been a great pleasure listening to you over the years, and you know, I really loved joining the ranks.

But tonight I want to talk about the team, man, about you, Adam and Noah and big brother Jake and everybody that makes this possible, because that's how I started out with a bunch of superlatives for yourself, my friends, and I have nothing but you know, the fondest respect for all of you. Never in my life, Never in my life did I think that I was going to meet yourself triple A awesome, you know what I'm saying. Okay, man, you know we're we're we're we're going up brother.

But you know, hey, man, you know i'd give it to you. But also you know, Noah Eagle and for your introduction and everything like that. Man, I mean, as a person who you know wants as fired you know, to do this type of thing and who has had a fire relt by meeting you guys. Man, you guys are the best bro like and I I really mean that, man, big brother Jakes shout out, bro like everybody that makes all of that happen, you know,

and all of I mean, we bonded over three things. Our love for basketball, our love for this team, and you know, just being an honest person. You know what I'm saying. And I never thought that I would get to make some friends out of this. Sad to see Adams, you know, Adam, I'm sad to see Noah goat, but obviously we knew that it was going to happen, and I couldn't be happier for him.

You know what I'm saying. You guys are the cream of the crop, brother and my hats off to you guys tonight, because no matter winner lost with the team, you guys were winners every single night. Brothers. I'm gonna be the first one to say that, you know, hey, I want to have a steak dinner, you know, or if you don't eat protein, shakes me and you you know what I'm saying. All I was stake with Noah, but look, man, we gotta get together.

I want to talk basketball with you. I want to get together off season. Dude. If there was ever a vote like some sort of American idol type of thing, obviously, Like I told you the first time that I met you, but when we talked, your call was amazing and I hope that you get to nod Bro, but if not, I've enjoyed listening to

you and listening to your knowledge. You are the conscience of the Clippers, Bro, and I've never listened to somebody that gave so much insight to a team that has been so far in the rearview mirror of the NBA for so long, brother, And as a fans is ninety nine, you know, and you know for all of the fans that go back since the eighties and beyond. Brother, I need to thank you, man, because you guys have brought so much to my life and you've reinvigorated my whole passion for the

game. And I didn't think it could get any bigger but talking ball with you, tweeting with you, A tweet Adam off and follow Adam A. You know what I'm saying, Oh, Clips and Dip Brothers, shout out to Clips and Dip Man. Those guys are writing brilliance over there. Everybody associated with this team. Zach, you can't play him off the stage like this. This ain't the Gong show. Da dam you got thirty seconds left because we've got a lot of colors. Look, I'll say this, as

far as the team goes, keep the team, stay the course. What we do in Clipperland, if we stay loyal and we're gonna you know, we're we're gonna get our just due for that. But it doesn't come like that. We're not front runner. But let's get out of this front runner thing. Let's go back to being the underdogs and show people how to get punched in the mouth. And that's what we'll do. Baby, we're right there. Let's just stay the course. Adam, I love you, Noah,

good luck, big brother, Jake Peace. I'll be talking to all of y'all all right, David, appreciate the phone call. We love you too. We'll talk to you soon. Yes, that follow at him if you want to get to me there on Twitter, Mike in La here on Clippers Talk. I'm like, hey, Adam, first, I just want to, you know, echo with the previous callers that obviously tremendous job all season to you in the whole team over there. Yep, thank you.

By uh no, you guys are great. Uh. You know, I think what really needs to happen is to get obviously, yes, trading the stars and freaking if doable at all, but I think really getting younger in the role player positions and more athletic in the role player positions. I mean we I mean we went one in nine to I forget what the combination was, you know, Oklahoa, Munwhirlings or Wendo and whoever else, But you know what those teams all had in common as they were young in athletic and

they kept giving us face. If we get some of those regular season games, I mean, we're probably in a very different position from the playoffs now. I think that's a good point. The Clippers need to add more athleticism to this team. Well. I do think an older team can certainly win in the playoffs by playing a slower brand of basketball. And these two teams right next to each other in pace, and it was a good matchup for

the Clippers it turns out. I know, they lost in five games, but they didn't have Kauhi, they didn't have Paul George over the last three of the series, didn't have Paul George for all of it. I do think there are some ways they can strengthen themselves just through more athleticism out there at key positions. I think a lot of people are looking at the four position and what that's going to turn into. If they had more of a rim runner there, or maybe an athletic three and D guy in that position,

that would be interesting. We'll see. So it's a good point, Mike, and I appreciate you calling in all season long, my friend. Absolutely, thank you, Adam. Great season to you, guys. Let's go to Lenny in Inglewood. All the regulars calling in tonight. Lenny, what's up, hey, Adam, sorry to see the nowhere to go that didn't enjoy the broadcast. But do you think there's anyway Adam Silver will let

us fly a moral victories banner from the rafters. Mhmm. I don't know if he regulates that so it's possible, But I see what you're saying, Lenny. I see where you're going with this. Let's please stop with them all victory stuff go. I mean, you can't even wear Clippers gear unless

you hear at the Clippers game. Man. We we we had a flicker of hope, man, and after Live City and then we got kaway and then Kauai without even beating Shay said he's gotta go, and we gotta go get PG, and we traded away of the future and now we got PG. Pg's hurt, Kawai's hurt. It's frustrating one thing, man. Yeah, it's because let me tell you some I gonna mess up the team by name, but I'm gonna tell you man, they don't tolerate. They know

right away when something ain't right. Thanks for the phone call, Lenny, appreciate it. Hey, cliber Nation is passionate. I get it after a night like this when the season ends. And this is year four of the two one three experiment. In the last three seasons, I have come down to injuries. First, Kauai getting hurt and tearing the ACL as they were

trying to make a run to the finals. They got to the Western Conference finals for the first but obviously this team has higher expectations when you made the moves that they do to bring in Kauai in Paul George and I see where Lenny's coming from. Tay, just in Walnut, Tay, just what's up your on? Clippers? Stop without Aim Awsome? Hey, Adam, First of all, just we're gonna miss Noah. He has a lot of character

of personality. He just made the game so much fun. And you and him have such great chemistry and made all those drives on the early road games when we're second trafficked, you know, really entertaining. So I appreciate you guys, and I know it's a difficult year, especially for you, Adam Fielding all these calls to him. Man, you did a good job. Thanks Daye. Just hey wise Man once said, the worst day in the NBA is the best day in any other profession. I've never had a bad

day here, I've never had to work. I love it. I love taking these calls regardless, even when a guy's about to drop an f mom. I had two points about the Clippers feature, but right before, before I get into that, I just wanted to say, I don't really I don't want to blow up the team. I mean, if you blow it up, you're gonna it's gonna be hard to rebuild on the fly. You're gonna have, you know, maybe a good team, but it's that really

gonna put you in championship contention. I mean, look at look at Dani Lillard and put in Trail Blazers for how long they've been good, but no championship aspiration. Same with Lobs City. Look at even Denver currently they they've been good for a long time, but they're not they haven't won. And look at Phoenix they still haven't won. So rebuilding and assision in the business

aspect of it with into it don't coming. I doubt that they want to put a product of a rebuilding team the first year going into the stadium arena. Yeah, it's a fair point. Now, it's a fair point. They want a winner. Steve Bamber is not going to rest until this team wins a championship. And that's where you got to draw your hope from Clipper Nation, even after a disappointing season like this one and day. Just my

friend, I know you didn't call for a while for personal reasons. I hope that situation is going all right and I appreciate you calling still all season. Yeah, everything is better, Adam father's healing from his heart attack, so it's all I can ask for. Got married, Everything worked out, so God is great and I'll try to keep a short at him with the future of the Clippers. Two points one. Obviously we talk about the four, and it seems like I don't seem envision anymore as part of that future.

But Tune seems like he's more comfortable coming off the bench, So that leaves currently will Covington start at the four or We'll have to see what's what's going on with that. I would like to see a mere coffee play a

little bit more and develop some of the young guys. And number two I said this last time, I'd like to see Russell Westbrook on a team friendly deal and possibly I don't know if he's up for it, but kind of maybe come off the bench as a point guard because what you saw here so far in the playoffs, he was leading a bunch of role players and everyone else and he was doing it well. And he's going against opposing team starters during the season. If he's coming off the bench, you're going to play

against opposing team's bench as well. So I really like to see him lead the second unit. And I think, you know, good things can happen. And the Clippers team management, they all, you know, had the right players in place. It just didn't work out. But you can see the vision from these games, and thanks Adam made it. I love it. He just thanks for calling in all season long. We're not gonna use this as the out music, though, right Zach, because I do need

to take a break right now. That'd just be a little bit tacky. Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy more Clippers talk coming up next, your thoughts on the future, and if you want to reflect on this season as it comes to an end. Clippers lose one thirty six to one thirty in Game five to the Phoenix Suns. Here it was blocked by George. This is LA Clippers playoff basketball. He is a one man king crawl

and defensive man. On the home of your LA Clippers final in season Clippers talk of the season, although now it's the off season, so if you want to talk about that, we can eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy couple of calls before we get to Coach Lou. I do want to hear from him post game Marvin in downtown Los Angeles, Marvin, what's up here? On Clippers stop without of Maslin hey An, this was a positive season, even though it did not go all the way. The highlights

are Russell west Brooks. I mean, team made the playoffs really entertaining for US des quite not having Hawaii Leonard and PG thirteen and also another UCLA brewing Norman Norman Powell. So it would be great that we can get to have Westbrook, Norman Powell, Plumbly and Highland back for next season to dial it back and Westbrook in the off season world on heap pointer so that he can have that. Reggie Jackson and Westbrooks thirty four. I don't know if he's

changing his shot at this point. To his credit, he shot much better from three as a Clipper thirty six percent in the regular season in twenty one games, and he was over forty percent in this series. That is true. And also Tea Man. I would like to see tea Man in the lineup. I remember A C. Green. He was a power four, and I see team I like Acy Green if you will go to the gym and bulk up and worked out. I know that he two years ago.

He gave Draymond Green some trouble when we went against Golden State of his tenacity, in his sperience, fearlessness. So one of the things I would like the Clippers to do is let's keep it and let's just focus on the off season and see how our team can get better. What can they add to the repertoire to fine tune their skills and based in the added experience that they

have gained already from this playoff season. Thank you Adams, with Fred and Ronnie Pete as well doing the show as well, and thank you for your commentaries. Probably good nights. Appreciate it, Marvin, They're nice to have me on. Let's go to Bill and Irvine. Bill, you're on Clippers Sie with that Masin, thanks for taking the call. Going back to few years why and he went out against the Utah Jazz with his initial little egg

injury, the knee injury I still do this day. You didn't see why he was still on the court when it was like an eighteen point lead in the fourth quarter and he ran down the court kind of fast break style, and that's when he bumped his knee. Do you recall that, yes, with Joe Ingels, I remember that play so vividly it haunts me. Yeah, it was. It wasn't necessary a second minute the stay you should you know, he should have been on the bench. But that's that's something you

can do about now. And then of course, this knee injury, not to quote from Willis ree, but it was just too severe a chance that I guess, you know, I thought this was he played through it in the first two games and then I must have just gotten worse. But it happened at the end of the game one. He played through it in game two and aggravated it, exacerbated it. Yes, it got worse, and

it sounds like he wasn't cleared to play right. And then on the other hand, Westbrook really who was very active and I had at two bead, he missed that layup when they were down by two or three they came down to you know, made three straight stops against them, and they still couldn't get over the hump. You know, they down by two and one possession and down by two and three and the others, and they put up a

pretty good fight anyway. But I'm just hoping that whatever happens that, you know, next year, they'll they'll be able to play without those you know, those injury prone situations. Yeah, I agree with you. It'd be nice if they get some luck on their side, if they could stay healthy. But the truth is, injury prone players don't start magically getting healthier and staying on the court. As they get older, they tend to stay injury

prone. So it's something the Clippers know and they're gonna have to look at as injuries have unfortunately been there doing the last three seasons. Now, before we get to Jose, let's hear from coach lou post game after the Clipper season ends with the one thirty six, one thirty loss to the Phoenix Suns in Game five. So I just want to, you know, thank our

fans. You know, they've been unbelievable this year, you know, sticking behind us the inconsistencies of you know, lineups and different things, and they stuffed behind us one hundred percent. And so I just want to say thank the fans. They was they were great, you know, all year long. My whole tenure here in the last three years have been great. I want to thank my coach and staff second of all, who put in work every single day and help me and in every way and shaving for my need.

They're always there for me and I couldn't do this by myself, and so I want to thank my coach and staff, and then I want to just thank the players, you know, for every day grind for nine months and to get to this point. And no matter who's in the lineup, who plays, those guys play hard for me every night. And so I can't ask for much more than that, you know, being a head coach, just having guys whore gonna compete and fight for me every single night,

that's all you can ask for. And then I want to think the organization, you know, mister Bonner and Lawrence and Winger, you know, Mark Hughes, Trent. Just thank those guys for the opportunity, you know, and just you know, putt me in this position and all the support they've given me the last three years. And so I want to thank those guys as well. And so it's a collective group that's you know, putting in the hard work for a lot of days, and it's just it's good to

have that feeling. And so to answer your question, and he just kind of got away from us in the third quarter, and they went on a hell of a scoring barrage and it was tough for us to slow him down, you know, And then I had I didn't have very many timeouts left, and so we took a couple early and then we only had two with like five minutes ago in the third quarter. So you know, give them credit. Like I said, was was tough all series. You know,

we couldn't stop him. We had no answer for him. We try to blitz, we couldn't get them blitz. We try to fire, we couldn't get you know, we couldn't get our fires. And he just he was really elusive, you know, splick and jibble around, and it was just tough. You know, it's tough for us. But I like the way we competed. I like our physicality. I likes a lot of things we did. And like I said, in that fourth quarter, just fighting back and what a rust lay up having a chance to cut it, I mean

to tie it up, and we missed a layup. But I never thought our guys effort in the locker room, and like I said, we just ran up against a really good opponent. You know, mine did a great job. And that's it. There was Coach Lupost game after the Clipper season comes to an end. They lose Game five here in Phoenix, one thirty six to one thirty to the Suns. I think the operative word there was competed the Clippers did. They gave everything they had out there. They just

didn't have enough talent. They ran out of talent, they never ran out of heart, effort, hustle. The fact that they kept fighting down that says a lot about this team and who they are at their core. It's who they have been and why a lot of Clipper Nation has fallen in love with them over the last four years. Really going back to that twenty eighteen twenty nineteen squad, they really kind of started this movement of the Clippers never

being out of the ball game, always coming back. Cardiac clips. Don't count them out, and they were huge underdogs in this series and in this game. I saw they were twelve and a half point dogs coming into this one, and they had a chance late down by two multiple times and just couldn't get over the hump against a team loaded with talent that is a favorite to come out of the West. Last call of the night, Last call of the season. Here on Clippers Stock Jose in Southgate, Jose, what's

up with Dome? Into it? We go? Let those left two alerts, those two last two turnovers be the end of the curse. Let's go. We we got keep team man. He's the first one to duct in that stadium so much to stay at him, but I got least probably five seconds, So let's go play at first. Well, still another year at Crypto dot Com Arena before into it Dome, But yes, they are transitioning to being there by the summer of twenty twenty four and it's gonna be the

most beautiful place in the world to watch a basketball game. Not too bad at Footprints Center tonight. Unfortunately the Clippers come up short, as this is our last Clippers talk of the season.
