The game is over, Paul George money in the pain, but the postgame reaction has just be gone. Kawhi Leonard is so smooth in the mid range. This is Clippers Locker Room, a recap of today's game and a look ahead on your hope for LA Clippers basketball. And now your host, you, sir, are a bad man, Adam Ousley, Clippers winning Kawai's return ninety six to ninety one over the Detroit Pistons in downtown Los Angeles. Welcome into your postgame show. Coming up, we'll get to your second half highlights,
your post game box score. You'll hear from the players in the head coach in Toron lou But first back out to your voice of the Clippers in Noah Eagle. So, Noah, my friend Kawhi Leonard in the first half struggled with his shot, but in that fourth quarter we really saw him come alive with that activity level on the defensive end and then game to the basket.
Yeah, no doubt about it, Adam. I think that that's what stood out to me was his willingness to really step up defensively, and that's what his bread and butter was when he came into league, and so it's no shock that when he didn't have it offensively, he just didn't look completely right, which is expected. I mean, this is his first game in separate weeks. This is his third game on the season and his third game in a year and a half essentially, so it makes sense that his rhythm
is in, his timing is kind of thrown off. But what he can control is his effort defensively, and his effort defensively was just superb tonight and just takes the challenge, takes the best player on the other team and says, you're not going to score on me. And until Kawhi went to the
bench, Boyan Bogdanovitch did not score in the fourth quarter. Yeah, he had just two points total in the fourth finished with a game high twenty six But for the Clippers, Reggie Jackson had their team high twenty three points. One of the best games really on both ends with some of his defense. Also in the fourth quarter of this year, Reggie Jackson, by the way,
at him twenty two points per game in his last four matchups. I don't know why I said matchups, but his last four matchups with the Detroit Pistons, Wow, he loves playing his former team, and tonight was another example of it. The twenty three points were great, three of five three
point shooting was better. That's what Reggie Jackson's been lacking this year. He's been aggressive at times, he's been looking for his floater at times, but the three point shooting is what made Reggie Jackson such a perfect fit with the Clippers. The catch and shootability two years ago was astounding. And if he can get back to that, the way that he shot at tonight, the way that he shot it recently, he's still slightly below thirty percent after a
lackluster performance in Dallas. But if he can get back to this level of shooting, Reggie Jackson is going to be that final puzzle piece that we've been looking for. And now, as Kawhi Leonard and Paul George find themselves again and they relearn how to play with each other again, it's only a matter of time because it's it's the way I always look at is this. When I was a kid, I remember my sister and I always used to play
Super Mario great game, I mean a classic, an all timer. I love it of course, of course, and there was a level that for whatever reason. First go around we just couldn't beat. And there was this girl in our town that my sister was friendly with, and she would come over and she just was an incredible super Mario player for whatever reason, and she would just dominate the level and she'd be like, it's easy, I got it. And then she'd be like, so can we do something else?
We're like, well, now show us how to do it, you know. But once we figured out how to do it, once we beat it ourselves one time, then when we restarted the game and said, yeah, you know, it's fun, let's say how quickly we can get through the entire game now, it was easier because we knew how to do it. And that, to me is the analogy I'm looking at with Kawai and PG. They've done it already. This isn't the first go around anymore.
They've defeated the level. They've gotten to that mountaintop of playing the perfect brand of basketball together. So now they know what it looks like, they know what it feels like. Now it's only about rebuilding those habits. It's gonna come a lot quicker, but it's still a process and it still takes time. And so give a time. I think all these guys all they're all
going to fit together the right way. That's what this team was built to do, and they are built perfectly, but it is going to take time for them to find that rhythm. The fortunate part for them right now is if you look at their schedule, the next couple of games here, they're all fairly winnable games. So tonight they get the win, even though it was ugly Saturday San Antonio, They've beaten that team already. Look, San Antonio is never going to be an easy out because of what Norm just said.
They play really hard, they're well coached, but it's a team that no doubt the Clippers can find a way to beat. Utah has been playing not as great as they had to start the year the last couple of games. Then they go to Golden State, a team that, despite winning a championship last year, has been one of the biggest struggles across the NBA. Home for Denver as Yokich has been out in health and safety protocols, and then home for the Pacers. They've got winnable games as they find that rhythm.
So now it's about just finding ways to win while also working yourself back into it. It's a process, but we'll get there. And they just picked up a star like in Super Mario and Kawhi Leonard being over the Detroit Pistons. Their next game coming up Saturday night is Noah Eagle mentioned against the San Antonio Spurs. Tip time for that one, same as tonight seven thirty. We'll have Clippers countdown for you at six thirty. Noah Ego, great

All the Clippers needed, though, combined with his defense on Monkdanovitch in the fourth quarter, and the Clippers would win ninety six to ninety one as they hit their free throws. Here's Adam as Clippers still not running on all cylinders, but hit the nas late with Kawhi Leonard to pull away from the Detroit
Pistons and win ninety six to ninety one. Welcome into your post game show. This is Clipper Stock. I'm at am Moslin eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number coming up, hoping to hear from Kawhi Leonard post game plus coach Lou and we'll have Charles mock Cliff from Clips and Dip joining us for a little double dip here on Clippers Talk. Kawhi finish with just six points,
two of eight, shooting five boars, four assists. You look at the stat line, old home, who cares? I care? Now, check out this number. He was plus twenty six out there in twenty five minutes. They were twenty six points better than the Pistons when he was on the court. That's a ridiculous number. I don't often go with the plus minus on an individual game basis you look at at the end of the year.
I think it's more meaningful. But this somewhat matches the eye test because early on the Clippers offense looked better with him, early in the first quarter before he exited the ball game and they went four minutes in fifteen seconds without scoring, and then in the fourth when he came in around the ten minute mark, Kawhi Leonard hit the gas pedal a little bit. You saw some of that burst from him coming off to ACL injury his first game after missing the
last twelve. He starts in this one, and I thought we saw a couple of special players in that fourth quarter, signs of things to come, great indicators as to where he is healthwise. Kawhi first goes to the basket, goes baseline, an explosive move, draws the foul, hits both free throws. That was just good to see get around a defender, leaving them no choice but to have to foul him using some of his strength. Also on the left block, then he locked up Bogdanovitch so bad he caused the
turnovers. Bogey just traveled, and then he had the behind the back, between the legs sidestep move on Burke's for the layup where he was fouled and they didn't call it. So four of his six points came in that fourth quarter, plus some spectacular defense which he has been known for forever, but just a lot of explosive movements. You could see when the fourth came around, it was winning time. The player with the highest winning percentage ever,
Kawhi Leonard just looked different. That's the biggest takeaway from this ball game. It has to be. Because the Clippers weren't very good overall, they played better when they needed to. They scored twenty eight in the fourth quarter, They pulled away, They hit enough free throws to hang on in a game where they were down twelve early because of just anemic offensive play, lack a ball movement, settling for tough shots. They're the twenty ninth ranked defense right
now for a reason. They're also nine and seven for a reason, because they've been the second best defense twenty ninth offense. I should say overall this season they've been that poor on that end. Defensively, they've been great. It's kept them in games. And against the Pistons team that is twenty sixth in offense and thirtieth defensively, you would expect the Clippers to do more damage than ninety six points. They weren't good enough offensively to beat a great team.
They were good enough to beat the Pistons. They were good enough to get the W while they're still figuring things out and building chemistry, and I think that has to be applauded. Still, overwhelming talent on nights when you're not at your best can get you by against certain teams. Do they have to get better quickly? Yes, they do. But this was Kawhi Leonard's
third game. He still only played twenty five minutes, first game he started this season, and when they needed to be just good enough to come through with a victory. Late, you could see the Clippers start to take control of the fourth Paul George a deep three, a steal generated by Reggie Jackson that got Paul George into the open corp for a big throw down, Marcus Morris a timely three. Clippers hid enough big shots when they needed them,
and Reggie Jackson probably I know, probably about it. He played his best ball game of the season. I believe it was the last four games now against the Detroit Pistons where Reggie Jackson, his former team. He's been giving him buckets, averaging two points per game in the last four, finished with twenty three in this one. Remember the game winner a couple of seasons ago. But seven to twelve, shooting three three pointers, six of six from
the free throw line, and the defense was very good. Late Clippers hold on. They survive. It wasn't pretty, but you'll take the wins right now, especially as they're still figuring things out, as guys are getting more familiar with one another, as Kawhi Leonard is getting back in rhythm and working out the kinks, and he didn't look to be in rhythm early, but late when it mattered, that was a different Kawhi Leonard. In the fourth quarter. You could just see how locked in he was. That to me
is huge. He still has that extra gear coming off the ACL. Yeah, we're gonna be playing sports science, a little bit amateur sports science with watching him his movement, his gait, his energy level, his hops. But so far the results have been very encouraging in all three games, which while it was, which is why it was kind of confounding when after the game against Phoenix, and then he felt the stiffness later that week pre game when they were in ok S, miss the last twenty five days, miss
the last twelve day games. But you got to be overly cautious right now. It's too early in the season to push things. And he did look good when it mattered most, as did the Clippers. They win ninety six and ninety one over the Pistons coming back. We'll hear from Reggie Jackson.
We'll have Charles Mackler on from Clips and Dip as well. They're listening to Clipper Stock here on m five seventy ol Sports and must have been because of the black Battom clusses of something giving us all traps sets on the knocked in just to get it visits not he got it? Count it from distance odds on favorite to hoist the Larry o'bright heavily contested and it doesn't matter on the whole of your LA Clippers and now he clear, go on, gotta go
on. I ain't got time. Clippers and one seventh straight over Detroit team they've dominated like no other. So it's two thousand and nine, twenty ten season they win ninety six and ninety one and Kawhi Leonard's return. Welcome back into Clippers stock. I'm out of mostly to eight six six ninety seven, two five seventy and speaking of here was Kawhi Leonard just moments ago at the
podium, got this audio from Valley Sports. I think at the time Tye said that you might have thought about playing through some of the stiffness, you know. Okay, see was that a thought for you at all? Or did someone have to kind of hold you back and say, let's be more cautious about this. Oh? Yeah, it was a group effort. Like I said before, he's starting the season, it's gonna be a long journey. Uh, as our recovery is in just one year. Everybody thinks that,
but it's a two year process. So I know that, and uh, I'm like keep going and going through the process. How did it feel for you tonight out there, Kauai? Good? It was good to be back. Uh, be able to be in live actions, uh, getting some game reps, uh, talking to teammates on the floor, stet of the sideline. And yeah, so I felt good. I was happy to be back. Quite even in your first two games, and again tonight, it looked like the longer you played in the game, the stronger and the
better your legs came to you as you went along. Is that kind of how you feel like the more you play in the game, the better your body feels. No, not really, I just that's how I play basketball. Uh. You know, I don't come in and just I find a rhythm, find what the team is doing, and then I start getting aggressive in spots that I see are open, and uh, you know it's it's probably uh the increments that I'm playing those segments they're spread out rather than me,
you know, playing the first twelve minutes of the game. So you could probably see that once the game goes forward. Uh. Over the course of the game when you were in the Clippers outscored the business about twenty six points. Obviously a game that is decided by five points. That's a major impact. So what did you feel like you did on the floor that helped the team the most that the team wasn't able to replicate as much when you
weren't on the floor. Just being great at my minutes. Like I said before, you know, I gotta go out there and do what I can. I win a basketball game in a minute that I'm receiving. And you know that's what I did tonight, just whenever I was on the court, try to play winning basketball on both ends. And uh, you know, fortunate I was fortunate enough to, Uh, I guess a plus twenty six in a game. When it comes to the things that that you've seen over
the last few weeks that the team needs to be better at. Like, what are the things that you've kind of expressed to the team as far as what needs to be better. I feel like we need to be better at everything. So out of timehouse defend, it's the rotations, Uh, definitely the offensive end. We gotta start getting better shots and just everything. I feel like we're behind and uh we need to start up focusing up and let's push. Like quite, how easy or difficult has it been to be patient
with this injury recovery process. What's been your overall approached with up? I mean this is an easy part now because I'm able to you know, get in the game play. But you know, uh, last season it was it was it was a long season for me, just you know, going in there doing what I can the just strengthen the knee, uh, strengthened the whole body, knowing that I'm not gonna be able to touch the floor.
Uh, you know, it was it was pretty draining, but you know, I I pushed hard and to get to this point down and like I said, still gonna be a long journey. So I just gonna keep fighting. We all do. So quite on your right, was did you have a preference whether you're coming back as a starter or a reserve. After I played those first two games, it was dead already. T Lou wanted me to start the games and get us going in a flow. So you know, before I sat out, I knew I was gonna be starting.
Does this feel like like the stiffness that knocked you out? Is it feel like something you're pasted or something you're just gonna have to kind of manage as it comes up year, let us say that's a two year process. Everybody thinks it's a one year process. But yeah, so we don't know. We'll see what happens once we keep moving forward. Thank you. It was Squire Leonard post game after the Clippers one ninety six and ninety one over the
Detroit Pistons in his return. Coming up next walk Charles Mockler on from Clips and Dip. We'll double dip here on Clipper Stock. I'm Adam Oslin and this is AM five to seventy l I Sports hang over the wall on the Oh Paul George LA Clippers Basketball continue in his paints as he carries the three on the home of your LA Clippers last time. While Leonard returns and the Clippers return and they're winning ways. They win ninety six to ninety one over
the Detroit Fistons and downtown Los Angeles. Welcome back. In your postgame show, Clipper Stock, amount of Oslin coming up all preview Saturday Nights contest. But you hear the music, it's a Clips and Double Dip here with Charles Mockler joining us from Clips and Dip. We had William Updyke on last time, so Charles will jump right into it. We just heard from Kawhi Leonard postgame. Not sure if you caught any of that, but what were your
overall observations in his return after twenty five days and twelve games missed? Did he looked as good as we could have possibly hoped? Right in terms of movement and things like that. I'm not worried about the you know, offensive percentages and whatnot from the shooting in his first game back, but his movement was there. He also caught a pass with one hand early in the game that I think kind of made everyone realize, oh yeah, okay, Kauhi
is back and he's still gigantic. But in his postgame presser, I liked how frank he was, you know, he's not gonna beat around the bush. I think it was Andrew greithwast him what the team needs to work on, and he said everything and then listed out everything, so he knows what needs to happen. I think I don't really know his schedule for what you know, the back to backs and his playing time going forward is. But I think tonight we can all be pretty excited and look forward to just more
Kauai. Yeah, and he talked about how it's a two year process coming back from the A c L. We've always heard that he's about sixteen months in right now, but a lot of promising signs with his movement, especially in the fourth quarter. I thought he looked very spry, very explosive when he needed to be. But this was a game where Reggie Jackson goes for a season high of twenty three against his former team, and they really have no chance in this one without him just going off the way he did.
Yeah, Reggie has been great over the last couple of games. The Reggie roller coaster, as we call it, is very much up right now, which is awesome. We need to ride this as long as we can on the way up to get these wins. That we should maybe be getting a little easier against certain caliber of opponents. But I think tonight another interesting weird lineup thing reared its head where you know, Kai was back, which was good, but we were down Luke Kenard, Nick Muchum was not playing well
and we got another Robert Covington DNP. I don't know if it's just highly working on different rotations or what, but I'm starting to get a little just curiously going and saying about these Robert Covington the minutes, because he did play and the first time of the back to back in a little bit in the second and then it's just out of the rotation now. So I mean, as long as we're getting wins, that's good, but I think there's going to be something to keep an eye on moving forward. Yeah, it is
interesting to see how this has handled. He played just five minutes the other night, Tuesday night, and they're loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Nick batoum ended up playing just fourteen minutes. Thought maybe we would have seen more Roco there. I thought Moses Brown gave him a great five minutes. A little bit of a spark there. Yeah, the Moses Brown being the spark for this team when he comes in, I think has taken everyone by surprise,
myself included. It's been against teams that aren't the best shooters. They do put him in the pick and roll, so I has to move around a bit. But I was there pregame and I was watching Moses Brown pregame warm up. They literally have him standing underneath the basket for most of his pregame and just practicing those moves, so they're maximizing the talent that Moses Brown has. I guess I just wish the shot in the arm sometimes was you know,
someone who's going to be getting more substantial time in the playoffs. And the Clippers end up winning by five. Neither team scores one hundred points, and the Clippers are the first team this season to have two wins when they don't score one hundred points. Granted the competition in the Detroit Pistons, they're dropping a three and thirteen, but the defense has saved them. And if eatsa Zubas, I've gone too long in the show without talking about him.
I know he struggled a little bit offensively at times. He did have five turnovers in this one, but he tied a career high from earlier this season with eighteen boards, and I just don't know where they'd be without him in those forty minutes. I mean, Zoo has been anchoring this defense this year. He's kind of co anchored it the last couple of years of special when Kawhia is out, and he's just been consistent. And I mean that in
terms of the defensive play and just being on the court. I know there's this chatter about the Clippers being interested in Myles Turner. I can't make a firm call and if we should trade for Miles Turner because we have no idea what the Pacers really want. But if the Pacers wanted to wings and then a young guy or something like that, I mean, it would be great
to have Zoo's a backup center. But I just I don't know. This team needs consistency and a lot of that, you know, determined or excuse me, A lot of that depends on that guys being on the court, and Zoo's best quality other than his defense is availability. And I did love the fact that you brought this up, that Kawhi Leonard kind of brought that sense of urgency and leadership into the post game presser, like, we have to be better now. I know they're always sixteen games in, but Kawhi
Leonard is thinking otherwise. And yeah, we don't know his schedule. Hopefully he is available Saturday night. They probably don't know how he feels yet, or they'll see how he feels tomorrow to see about his availability for that game. I'm sure we'recovering from this one, but it is still a good thing
to see the Clippers win games where they're not playing at their best. And yes, the schedule has been easier so far this season, but it's kind of been a blessing because they haven't had Kawhi Leonard from most of these games, and if they were into the thick of their schedule without him, they
wouldn't be nine and seven right now. Yeah, very much. So. I know that people get upset about we dropped the games against the thunder, which I'm not going to pretend like I'm not a little frustrated about, but having a winning record with some of the weird lineup stuff we've had to go through, both self inflicted and you know, things like Luke being out, John Wall's injury management, Kawai's injury management, and you know, it's it's
just weird right now kind of all over the NBA Clippers fans iin the last couple years have kind of been resigned to the oh, we're going to flip the switch, or oh, let's not worry about this team just yet. And I think seeing Kawhi tonight helps that viewpoint a little bit. But all we can do is hope we put together some consistent, you know, offensive play, because like you said, the defense is very much there right now. And the best team in the West is ten and five and it's the
Portland Trailblazers. And I don't think anybody would have seen that. Vin. First it was the Utah Jazz, who we are at the top. Now it's the Portland Trailblazers. So there's still in a very good shape in a beat up West where teams are climbing over one another. But who do you think? And I saw Paul George did put up eighteen shots in this game. He started over six, He hit some big shots, a three pointer from downtown in the fourth quarter, and then had the steal off the Reggie
Jackson generated tip pass that he turned into a dunk. But the concern I think for a lot of people, as with Kawhi Leonard returning, is Paul George still going to stay aggressive out there. And even though he didn't shoot the basketball well, just putting up eighteen shots, to me, that's a good sign. Yeah, and most of it came out for the first quarter, right I think he was He had a really rough I think first five shots or something like that, and he has the hand contusion. He was
questionable. It was the non shooting hand, but you know, still not going to help you shoot when he got to hold the ball with two So I was happy to see the eighteen shops. I don't think he's one hundred percent right now. With Kawhi coming back, maybe that gets some time to rest. I think TVD right now, I think we gotta wait and see
what happened on Saturday and a couple of games after that. But anytime he's over fifteen shop this season, having seen him, you know, have a couple of games where he's taking twelve field goal attempts, which should probably just be one half for him, I think we has got to be excited. I think an underrated performance in this game where for the most part, the
Clippers offense was stuck in mud. Was from Norman Powell, who had six straight points at one point in the first half and then had the dunk to kind of seal it. The dagger at the end to put him up. I believe it was six, but he's now scored in double figures in five of his last six games. So as the Clippers are getting healthier, it looks like Norman Powell is starting to round into shape for the role that he's going to have on this team. Yeah, he was perfect night in his
role. And if we can get between him, Reggie and John Wall, if we can have two of our guards play within their role and make good decisions, and I'm not even saying score a bunch of points, just kind of, you know, not make the mistakes we've seen, you know, early threes in the shot clock, turnovers and things like that, We're gonna be fine most games. And him and Reggie are just really clicking right now. And I think we talked about this on our podcast, but this was
Norm Powell's like twentieth or twenty first game from the Clippers. He hasn't played that much for this team, so he's almost getting you know, it's almost his first season with the team, so it's got It's been some great early returns so far these last couple of games.
