Clippers Talk with Adam Auslund after the win 114-107 over the Wizards in John Wall's return as Batum comes through late along with Kawhi.

Transcript

The game is over. Paul George money in the pain, but the postgame reaction has just begun. Kawhi Leonard is so smooth in the mid range. This is Clippers locker Room, a recap of today's game and a look ahead on your home for LA Clippers basketball. And now your host, You, sir, are a bad man. Adam Auslin. Clippers went and John Walls returned to DC in front of the fans one fourteen to one oh seven, Clippers over Wizards. Welcome into your postgame show. I'm Adam Oslin coming up.

We'll get your second half highlight, your post game box score. You'll hear from the head coach and to Ron Lew and the players after this one. But first we get back out to Noah Eagle. Big time fourth quarter with some crucial shots late one from Kawai and three three pointers from Tis the season Saint Nick Batouma Batoum was great, but let's start with Kawai. So he has that drive to the rim for the for the deuce and traffic that

was huge, right Portz thinks is just the game. Clippers have to come back down and they need a bucket to go back in front and he provides, and then Kuzma tizes the game and Batoon provides. But it was off of a Leonard feet. He made the right play every time. Every time he was doubled, he got rid of it, found the open man. But every time he had single coverage, he went right to the basket or

to his mid range, found his spots. And again, it wasn't the most efficient day in the world, but he was aggressive enough five of thirteen and thirty minutes. Think about it. His normal load, let's say, is thirty five to thirty eight minutes a game, So in additional five to eight minutes, he's probably going to get an additional three to five shots. If he's in his normal rhythm, that's gonna get him up to sixteen to eighteen shots. And if he's a little bit more in rhythm or he's hot,

he's gonna be twenty plus. And that's eventually where they want him to be. Where Paul George was tonight going thirteen of twenty seven. But I'm more concerned then with the defensive side. Not concerned, but excited. He goes to the defensive side at the end of the game when the Clippers need

one final stop and locks up Chris STAPs Porzingis. He blocks them when there was a three point clippery lead, the twenty three point eight seconds left or whatever it was, and they needed one final stop to basically secure the game. Kawhi forced him to the outside, forced a deep three, and got a piece of it. That's the Kawhi Leonard we know, the two time defensive player of the Year that we know, and he went in there and he got it done when they need him the most on both ends of the

floor. So you've got to be pleased with what Kawai did. You've got to be pleased if you're the Clippers overall, because again, all they needed today was a win and they found a way to get it, and that's all that matters at the end of the day. They win by seven. I thought John Wall had some crucial plays also in the first half, getting out and running getting some steals. I thought it was a very successful return back to his home at place, he says, what was the quote that

he had, I still owned this city. Yes, yes, that was in fact the quote. It was a little Aaron Rodgers Chicago esque. But for John Wall, it's warned it had given what he brought to the Wizards and what he brought to DC and has mentioned even more so off the court than he ever did on the court. Everything he meant to them was so just awesome to the community and to the kids, and he formed a bond with people and with the groups and with the city overall. But yes,

to your point, he was good. I think that he'll probably be frustrated he didn't even do more. He had that one stretch in the second quarter. He was unstoppable, and I think that he almost went away from it at times. Ends up going five of thirteen goes over four from downtown, only gets four free throw attempts, and that was a little surprising. Overall, I thought he could have attacked from the very beginning all the way through.

But for the most part successful return home, got a great tribute video, thirteen points on the night, and the most important thing, and he would be the first to tell you he got the win. Clippers win in DC, coming back home now to take on the best team in the league, lost in the NBA Finals, and they got a chip on their shoulder right now they're trying to get that ship the Boston Celtics Monday night, taking on the Clippers back in downtown Los Angeles. Tip time for that one is

that seven thirty. We'll have Clippers count down your pregame show starting at six thirty. No, a great road trip for you. We'll talk to you back and down town Los Angeles Monday night, Adam. You know that I'm very excited to see you and big brother Jake and everybody else in downtown. Can wait, Adam coming up? Man wait, can't wait? Can't wait for the Noah Eagle highlights. But right now second half highlights. Clippers were down three at the half. It was sixty three sixty in favor of the Wizards thanks to a twenty five point first half by Kyle Kuzma, who was on fire from the outside. Started six for six from three, just

a ridiculous number. But in that third quarter, speaking of threes, well, the Clippers got a lot from Paul George. He had nine points. But to end the quarter they went on a huge fifteen to oh run capped off by this George will up to write three seconds left shovel at Canard pump fake left point three at the horn ho Luke Canard connects Clippers with their first lead of the night as they end the quarter on a fifteen nothing run.

Big time shot in DC from Luke Canard Winshan Know and after three Clippers led eighty six to eighty four. As Noah Eagles said, that was the first time they took the lead in this ball game. It was an uphill battle and it continued late in this one. It was a tie game at one

oh five before Kawhi Leonard the Claw started to take over. Leonard on the right wing one minute to play, fourteen to shoot, drives Finnal into the pink, gets to the rim, bakes at home in the right hand a bully in a sandbox Kawhi Leonard for two one oh seven, one oh five, fifty five seconds remaining of the fourth. Kawhi Leonard will play some great defense on Chris Staff's Porzingis, which came after this bucket from who else but

Saint Nicholas Batoum. Looking to get it back to Leonard, they can't do so chance of defenses, they lob it to him the nearside short quarner double Batoum a right wing three. It's good Nick Patoum clutch bucket. Who's your daddy in Washington? I put the Clippers up one ten to one oh seven. Porzingis tried to answer with a three of his own, but was blanketed by Kawhi Leonard. Clippers would hit their free throws. Paul George went four for four on clutch free throws late, and they go on to win one

fourteen to one oh seven in DC over the Wizards. They're coming back home Monday night to take on the best team in the East, the best team in the league right now in the Boston Celtics. Tis the season for Saint Nicholas Batoon to make a big appearance, as he did in that fourth quarter with three three pointers, including a big one late under a minute with trust twenty three seconds left, actually to put the Clippers up by three at one ten to one oh seven. They go on to win in DC over the Wizards one fourteen to one oh seven. Welcome into your

postgame show. This is Clippers Talk. I'm atam mo Oslin eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six sixty nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number if you'd like to get on. Coming up, we're looking for some postgame audio Coach lew and the players. But this was a big win for the Clippers, necessary win in some ways to just swing momentum back in their favor. And they had Kawai Back who had a big lay

up late to put them up by two with fifty nine seconds left. Kyle Kuzma, who was amazing for the Wizards in this game and has been all season long, had a phenomenal performance with thirty five points and started six of six from the outside finished seven of ten from three. The Wizards, who shoot thirty three percent on the year from three, went sixteen to thirty three. That's forty eight percent. Goodwin had a couple, Porzingis had a couple.

Just a really good effort by a Washington team that does have a lot of firepower. I told your pregame, they still got Kuzma, they still got Porzingis, even without Bradley Beal. They can beat you, and they were on a back to back and execute offensively, but looked like the desperate team out there because they had lost five straight, but the Clippers had lost four or five. They finished the road trip now two and two. It's not great, satisfactory a C grade because they lost the back to back in

Orlando and in Miami, two very winnable games. Yeah, I'd probably give them a C minus on this trip and they're coming back home to take on the Boston Celtics. Not going to be easy Monday night, to say the least. Tip time for that one in downtown Los Angeles at seven thirty.

We got Clippers count down at six thirty. But I thought there were some big moments in this game that the Clippers could build off of, and really it started late in that third quarter when they clamped down defensively and held the Wizards scoreless. Basically the last five minutes of that third Clippers go on a fifteen to O run, extended into a seventeen O run as PG had a two point start the fourth and for the first time in the game, as

Luke canard, you know what, we got the highlight for you. I got zach o'quality with me, so I can just call for whatever I want. Now we got the highlight of Luke Canard maybe hitting the biggest shot of the game at least to that point for sure, to put the Clippers in front for the first time all game long. It was an uphill battle. They were skating uphill. They had it to within one multiple times, like after the first quarter when they started down ten. Nothing talk about an uphill

battle. But here was Luke Canard. To end the third quarter, George will up to write three seconds left shouble at Canard, pupfic left wint three at the horn. He Luke Canard connects Clippers with their first lead of the night as they end the quarter on a fifteen nothing run. Luke would hit another big three pointer at the eight minute mark of the fourth. But Paul

George, what have we been saying? Put up more shots? Being selfish is the new unselfish when you're Paul George, it helps your team when you're that good to shoot more. And I believe not his season high, but maybe second in shot attempts because he had twenty seven attempts. He I want to say early on when he had the forty point game against the Kings. Yeah, he had thirty one shot attempts, second most shot attempts this season for Paul George. Got to thirty six points, five of twelve from the

outside, perfect at the free throw line. Paul George needed a game like this coming off what happened in Miami where he played very well but the Clippers lost anyways, And it was that game in Orlando where he just didn't look like himself. He wasn't being aggressive enough. Now he's been able to string a couple of games together, three of twelve against the Orlando Magic. I don't care about the number three. Remember Kobe Bryant would say, one of

Paul George's heroes, I believe his favorite player ever. You know, he's gonna go three for twenty before he goes three for twelve. He's gonna keep firing. He's gonna shoot himself out of that slump. And Paul George is just two efficient of a player and now on the season, and this is why we've been screaming about this. I want to say Clippers are five and two when he takes twenty or more shots, it's probably better than that.

But Shane Young did say this on Twitter. Now, Paul George's averaging twenty four points per game on fifty one percent from the field, thirty eight percent from the outside, eighty seven percent from the free throw line. After getting off to a miserable start this year and calling himself out after that loss of the Pelicans, then he hits a game winner the very next night against Houston and things have pretty much changed since then. But that game against Orlando,

the Clippers lost in overtime, one that got away from him. He regressed back to being that guy that was too passive out there. In fact, until the Miami game, he had six straight games of not taking more than eighteen shots. It's just not enough. He's too good. He has to stay aggressive, mind you, a lot of those games or without Kauai. Now he and Kawhi just got back and Paul George has been available for the last four, Kawai for the last three, and they go two and two

on the road trip. But I thought it was a building block in that fourth quarter as they were running the offense through Kawhi. Leonard some growing pains. Yes, he's still trying to get his timing back. One of five from the outside. Just had thirteen points, but a big bucket late and then the assist to Nicholas Patoun for that three pointer. So Kawhi is the

focal point offensively. We know that's going to happen in the playoffs. Big moments happening against Charlotte game one of this road trip, where you hit the game winner. You gotta get those reps in. You have to play through him. Now. It's just this eighth game of the season. The Clippers have been very good with him, by the way, I get people asking me all the time, so what's the record with Kawai. It's good. They only got two losses. They're six and two with Kawai, and that's

with him not even playing like himself yet, not even close. He's still rusty. Noticeably, he hasn't scored more than sixteen points in the game. He had a play though, in this one that I thought was special and very encouraging. He went at the basket a quick move and he was going

in to hammer it and was fouled by Christaps Porzingis. I put the play at follow out of May on Twitter because I thought it showed that explosiveness and Kawai taking it up a gear and then also his defense laid on Porzingis, who was trying to tie the game after the beatumb three pointer. Kawhi gave him zero airspace. That was the two time defensive Player of the Year Kawhi Leonard. So we're seeing pieces of who he's been in the past more consistently

now, and I think it's eventually going to come together. He just gotta get more reps. He's played eight games. Clippers as a whole have to get more games with him and Paul George out there. Not their fault. Guys have just been banged up and injured. They still don't have Norman Powell. Terrence Man was coming back from concussion protocols. Luke Nard, I think is on a minute restriction because he didn't play more than twenty four even after

hitting some really big shots and helping stretch the floor. You know, I thought Brandon Boston the last couple of games, and really all season long, he's doing more of the little things and under the radar, like good start to the season from Boston, who hasn't had a crazy game against the Boston Celtics like he did last year or the twenty eight points. But I feel like he's playing within himself more and playing within the flow of the offense and

doing some of the little things. He played really good defense at times in this one. That was the big question mark on him. But hustle plays being scrappy out there. If he's gonna get on the court this season, win this team is healthy, it's gonna take plays like that. It can't just be his scoring because they have plenty of guys that do that already.

But the Clippers survive a sixteen for thirty three three point performance by the Washington Wizards and Kyle Kuzma's twenty five point first half because they get thirty six from Paul George, who eventually outdueled him, the thirty five from Kuzma, and they win by seven in DC. Nick in La, you're on Clippers stock with Adamassin high. Nick, Hey, what's up at him? What's up? Nick? What do you wanna say? Are we gonna get rid of

this medical training staff? Because it ain't it. Everybody's getting hurt? Nick? Anything positive after the win, anything positive after the win? Anything? Yeah, they played to night points, but before in just three for twelve, that's oh all They should be big, keep playing better. Okay, Nick, I appreciate the phone call. Look, there's been a lot of erratic plays so far from the Clippers, and they've been up and down so

far this season. But when I mentioned that number of Kawai Learns played just eight games, Paul George has missed I think nine games. Norman Pale has been out, Terrence Man has been out, Marcus Morris has been out. They've dealt with a lot. It's somewhat understandable why they're at fifteen and thirteen, and somewhat impressive that they're still above water. They got to get a long stretch together of good health. Yes, they need it badly in this

month leading into January. Very portant coach Lewis already said it also important. Let's pause ten seconds for station identification. They talked about

schematics and what are you looking for from your team? A win? A win. It was one of those I don't want to say desperation back against the wall. There are no regular season must wins, but along the way you see some important wins, some character building wins. Maybe this is one of them. I think this is more along the lines of just the Clippers getting healthy, getting right and starting to build around the two one three connection

again. And they won late, playing through Kauai and that kick out to Nicholas Betune plus the layup he had. They win by seven. Welcome back in the Clippers talk. I'm out of Oslin to eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight sixty six ninety seven two five seventy is the phone number Morris in Long Beach. Morris, what's up? Yah? I'm proud of my guys, Adam, I don't care when nobody say listen. They was down by thirteen points in the third quarter on the road against a hot

Kusman and they came back. Shout out to George George need to shoot more. You're late. But I'll tell you what I'd like to see Kawai shoot more. Kawai shoot twenty five times. Anyway, the big day you talk about a transcending game is on Monday against the Celtics. You want to talk about lockdown. Let's lock Downtatum win on Monday, and we're rocking a moment. Thank you Adam, thank you Morris. Yeah, it is a big

game Monday night. Boston currently taken on the Golden State Warriors. But Clippers were without Reggie Jackson for the first time this season today, who has been an absolute warrior and mister reliable with just being available, best ability availability. He's been playing three injury all year long, and they finally gave him a rest a day off. And maybe we should have seen this coming because John

Wall was going back to DC and it makes sense. He gets the start, he gets the acknowledgement, the pregame or first time out ceremony with the tribute video and a standing ovation. That's what I hear. But John Wall had a run by himself. I think it was a five zero or six zo runner. He scored six of their nine points in the second quarter and he got hot quick and hit a jumper and said, this is still my city. It was a cool moment for him. The fans acknowledged it.

They fed off of it. When you play in one place for that long and you're a five time All Star, that's the type of reception you're going to receive. They had some good years there with John Wall, but it

was interesting to see him out there with Kawai and Paul George. This is something we wanted to see more of all season long, but injuries gotten in the way, and coming into this one, there were only about sixty possessions so far with those three on the court together, and we were looking to see, okay, it was walking to defer more, play, make more, get them easier shots. He only finished with three assists. He hit a block on Kuzmano that was fantastic in that second quarter, but five or

thirteen thirteen points, I thought for the most party played within himself. I'm sure there were a lot of emotions being back this time because he was there during the COVID season but obviously nobody in the building, but this time in front of the fans that he performed for for so long and I thought this was the quickest he had looked all season. John Wall was flying up and down the court, creating for himself off a couple steals, had that wrap

around that he didn't end up scoring on. But the style, the flair, the burst is still there from him. Three point shooting still struggling in that area. Four did hit three of his four free throws, which also uncharacteristically shooting about sixty five percent of the charity stripe this season. That's well below his career highs. But you gotta think of it this way. He played forty games total the last three and a half years. That's it.

It's gonna take time and reps. Same with Kawhi coming back after missing an entire season. So the good news is while the Clippers are learning and either reconnecting or getting familiar with one another, they still have enough talent to win ballgames like today because I don't think they played their best, certainly not defensively at times. Now. There was some hot shooting from the Wizards that you just can't do a lot about with Kyle Kuzma, but the Clippers locked in

played much better when they went small. The second half of that third quarter and went on that eventual seventeen to oh run to get them up by four after they were down yes by thirteen in the third and it was looking bleak. They just didn't look like they had a lot of life to them, a lot of energy, and Coach Low made the move to go small and it worked and Brandon Boston played some of those minutes. Luke Kennard was great

there. Terrence Mann was out there a little bit, but it was mostly centered around Paul George who in forty one minutes had thirty six points and really was in the driver's seat for this victory for the Clippers. But down the stretch, Nicholas Batoum three three pointers in that fourth quarter. I told you pregame. Batoum coming into this one had hit fourteen of his last thirty one attempts from the outside. Now he's at eighteen for his last forty. He's

been almost shooting fifty percent from three of the past handful of games. Aside from everything else great that he does, which is picking up guys full court, covering for other mistakes defensively, he's a multi tool Swiss army knife out there. He's been a godsend for the Clippers Saint Nick. They called him that for a reason. I think I can put that name on him. After he hit a big shot against the Denver Nuggets his first season with the

Clippers. I want to say it was Christmas Eve or on Christmas. But Nicholas Batoum has been so good for this team. He ends up a plus fifteen out there. Luke Kennard a plus seventeen in just twenty four minutes, and he passed up a shot in the first half. There might have been early in the third quarter. Actually, now I understand kicking it out to Kawhi Leonard, who was also open. But if Luke Knard has an open three in the farside corner, he's got to take that shot. He just

does. Noah said it during the broadcast. If you're shooting close to fifty percent from three, you probably should get up ten a game. Now. He's coming back from injury, but this has been an ongoing thing where they encourage him to shoot more and more. He has been benched before for turning down shots. That's how much they want to emphasize. Hey, Luke, you're too great of a shooter. Don't be passive out there. You help this team, just like Paul George when you put him up because of your

efficiency. He is an absolute weapon. Led the league in three point shooting last season, and he's at I want to say, about forty seven percent now after going three or six from distance and two crucial ones end of the third quarter and then at the eight minute mark of the fourth when the Clippers were looking for a bucket, they win the fourth quarter by five points. They win the game by seven one fourteen to one oh seven in DC over

the Wizards. Coming back back to your phone call, still looking for postgame audio from coach leu Win the players eight six six nine eight seven two seventy eight six six to nine eight seven two five seventy. Also preview Monday night's game against the Boston Celtics. Yeah, they're tough. A rematch last year's NBA Finals tonight. Do you root for Boston a win so they're not too desperate for a win on Monday? I don't know what you go for it?

And the Clippers have been running into teams that were down and out, down players and had lost multiple games, and those teams they give you their best shot, and I thought the Wizards did that Clippers were just better. A couple of shots better, more Clippers stock, next, daring m five seventy light sports, Oh, Paul George, La Clippers basketball continue. He sent his pains as he carries the three on the home of your LA Clippers. I'm gonna get it back to letter. They can't do so chance of

Noah ego on the call, Zach o'caldy with a mix. Clippers with the win in DC one fourteen to one oh seven thanks to some big shots late three three pointers in the fourth from Nicholas batoumb God. I'm still old enough to remember earlier this season when people said he was washed.

Now it looks like once again he's their third and most important player behind the two on three connection. Welcome back into Clippers stock. I'm auta oslin to eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy or get to me at follow Adam a seeing some postgame quotes which could actually find some postgame audio. Oh you know what, I did find some from Andrew Greife. We'll hear from John Wall coming up as I

talk in email. This is Zachoccaldy at the same time. But coach Lew said that, and he was asked about going small in that third quarter because remember what they did to the Dallas Mavericks a couple of years ago when they had Porzingis in the playoffs. They went small and played them off the court in that first round series, and that's where they had that big advantage over

Dallas by being more switchable out there. And the Clippers, I know you probably think because Luca Donchich was so crazy that Dallas won, But no, actually the Clippers and back to back years beat the Dallas Mavericks, believe it or not. And Kawhi Leonard was the best player in both of those years.

We talked about it earlier with Noah Eagle, but Kawhi Leonard was putting up set ninety split sixty like he was Shack back in the year two thousand, which was the only comparison for an entire series of someone putting up these numbers. But the difference was Shack was doing this yes, in the NBA Finals, but he was attempting most of his shots, and I have it here for you. He was attempting most of his shots from five feet out,

Kauai from fourteen feet out and shack. Was the last time in the year two thousand, in the NBA Finals against the Indiana Pacers, that someone averaged thirty points per game on sixty percent shooting in an entire series until Kawhi Leonard did it in the twenty twenty one first round playoff series against the Dallas Mavericks. It is one of the wildest stats he'll ever see. And I

saw some moments, some glimpses of that Kawhi in this game. Kyle Kuzma, actually when he was on the Lakers, I thought defended Kawhi better than anyone else could when he was going up against KCP and those guys, and Kawhi had a couple of mid range shots over him in this one. I was like, Okay, there's vintage Kawhi Leonard. That looks like Kawai and the MIDI need to see more of that. And he's just been short on so many three pointers and I'm just wondering if it's just still getting the timing

back, getting his legs underneath him. I think that's all it is. The good news is twice now I make it three times because he hit the big shot over Lebron in Game one for the Clippers this season, the dagger shot to put that game away. But then he has the game winner against Charlotte on this trip, and then the big lay up late in this one just under a minute left. Here was John Wall though post game after he comes back to Washington, DC and gets a victory as a Clipper now against

his former team. Here he was hopefully audios, good goods and share him for whatever expectations you have for the night. How did this went up to him? It was amazing. It was dope. Yes, the appreciation and fans coming out on the city, coming out showing love. It was surreal, you know what I mean, Like, just try to live in a moment. I'm enjoyed every step in the process that was here and uh, most important for me just trying to get a in which we give it's a

good game and I know I'm just a bad We work. There's a there's a moment after U string lamps and the ripports the tip hop where you kind of positive beat and from the visiting bench where you're thinking about the game at that point, thinking about ten years here, what's going to your mind? But one just thinking about all the issue I have here. Uh, so many people I touched here, so many people touching me, watching and grow

from a young boy to a man. Looked over at the seats where my mom used to be sitting there, uh and the other fourth seats where my family used to see that, and just try to uh fantasizing me in that moment for me, you know, I mean, I feel like, uh, just being there. Like I said, it's still so severe to me. Still don't feel right and still feel different. But like I said, I enjoyed every part of this game and I'm glad we gotta win. And

uh, it was it was. It was a a lot of chills, trying not to cry, I hold back a lot of emotions and kind of be in a moment of the game and trying to win. When you have that six straight points run in the second quarter, you paused in front of the stands from two sections of stands. For the record, did you say still my city, Yeah, still my ship or something else? Still in my city. Yeah, and she's like, I gotta say, just being in that moment and just being up going on runs here when I played for

ten years. Uh, I just know how much of the city means to me. Like I said, it's always second home to me. And uh

kind of flat back and forget like I'm in a different jersey. I mean, just being in that moment and electrifying the crowd and you know, that's what I've been doing for a lot of years in my career when I was here, and I think that's a lot of appreciation I get here and how much effort I give when I stepped between those for a longs and uh, just to see the crowd stand up, I'm like, damn, my might feel like me. I'm still in the Wizards jersey, you know what I

mean. So it was a dope moment from me. Did you hear that? I knew it? He said, still my city, That's what he said. Really cool moment for him. Time out was called afterwards after that run he had and played some good defense was picking the pocket of his former team there in the Washington Wizards. Clippers win one fourteen to one oh seven, and John Wall did note that, Yeah, we got the victory. That's kind of a big deal as well. He played twenty nine minutes.

Got the start first time this season, I believe, And a lot has been made of whether or not he could be starting or if it should be Reggie, and they battled it out in training camp. But one of the reasons he hasn't started is because he's still not playing back to backs. He still has a minute's restriction on him, just because he hasn't played much basketball at all the last three and a half seasons. But he's had some difficult

years in a lot of different ways. If he read the article I believe he wrote for the Player's Tribune, and it was cool to see him come back to Washington, DC and be embraced like that. And then the Clippers get the one fourteen to one oh seven. Coming up next, we'll preview Monday night's ball game back home. Clippers go two and two in the four game roadie. They're taking on the Boston Celtics in downtown Los Angeles Monday night.

We're on that here on Clippers Talk on AM five seventy LA Sports George and Lennard Running. You're listening to LA Clippers Basketball Top. Clipper puts it down plus the foul every game of all season long on their official home Now I know it's Zach, I'll call you behind the board. Let's you know. This is our final segment here on Clippers Top. With this song, Clippers win one fourteen to one oh seven as they hold the Wizards to just

forty four points in the second half. They finished the road trip two and two. They're coming back home to take on likely an angry Boston Celtics team that's down big right now in Golden State. So you're gonna take on the best team in the league that's coming off a loss to the team that beat them in the finals. They could come back. They're down fifteen with eight forty six left. I just don't know if that's when you want to catch

the Boston Celtics, But you know there's never a really good time. Clippers will take them on Monday night. Tip time for that one is at seven thirty. We'll have Clippers countdown at six thirty. I do want to give someone else their flowers who I've overlooked in this one. Marcus Morris went five of ten, all five makes from three and a big one at the six minute mark of the fourth quarter to put them up by four. Marcus was

really good, finished with nineteen points. I thought defensively, he played one of his better games on that end of the court. Two and then also I got a response to my tweet at follow out of May that Kawhi defense on Porzingis was elite. Clip City said finally, but Zoo, in my opinion, needs that task as a big It's like clip City Spencer. They literally won the game going small, and I think you want Kawhi Leonard's defense

on the perimeter in that situation. I just guess absolutely blanketed poor Singis he had oh he didn't have a look all right, before we get out of here, Damien in La Damien? What's up here on Clippers stock without amostin trip bo Ay? How you doing brother? How is it tonight? I mean, the Clippers got a victory, they needed it. They're coming back

home to take on the Boston Celtics. Now you want a little bit of momentum, I mean a little bit, you know, like I mean, you know, I don't know how much that it's going to help us. I think that would you rather have him play him after a loss though, well, well, you know what, I don't know, because I meant to call in a couple of times in the last couple of games, because we found ourselves in some trap games. And if you, if you took pre game calls, I would have told you that the Orlando game, for

sure, I was worried that it was a trap game. I was worried that it could end up like that. And you know, you know what though, Damien, you know what, though, Yeah, I don't think the Clippers are in a position to overlook anyone right now. There are two

games over five hundred. They've had guys in and out of the lineup for a while, Like, there should be no trap games, right you know they're that That's probably just me speaking as a fan, you know, and what I expect from the team of what I think they can do even when we're shorthanded. But you know, these are not This is not typical. You know, We're not gonna be uh, you know, down the road, We're not gonna be having a bunch of teams struggling and everything like that.

Once we get going, this is gonna be crazy. I really like the fact that we got Luke Kennard in there. One are the things that if Luke Kennard was even lifting in what I would tell him, Man, you gotta take the shot because that's the team shot. I understand that you want to be unselfish and everything, and the same thing would cause me, I think coffee. He passes up a lot of wide open shots, and those are the teams shots. The teams struggled to get you open, to

get that shot. Take it for the team, don't worry about it, make miss or whatever. That's the team's shot. I'm always gonna applaud that, but you know, I'm happy for the win. And yet I do like the little bit of momentum going into the ball thing. I hope we can really lock in and give him everything that we got. Though, I'm with you, Damien, good phone call. I agree with you too.

You're being selfish if you're not taking an open look as Luke Kennard. And sometimes even when it's not a wide open look, we've seen him relocate off the bounce and knock down threes. He can do that too. He's playing much better defense than he has in recent years. I think he's earned the right to take ten shots per game out there. Make them all threes, at least nine of them, because that's gonna help the Clippers. He's gonna knock down four of them at least and if he gets hot, he may

hit seven. See him go eight for eight in the game before where they came back, but it was against Atlanta two years ago. It hit that half quarter. Luke Kennard is the best three point shooter in the league. A certain yourself like that have that swagged that confidence. The thing is you trust him late in games and in big moments. He's hit big shots. It's not the issue. He's just unselfish to a fault sometimes and he overpasses

and the Clippers have had this problem at times. Two. What I do like, though, is that as Kawhi Leonard, and we had to call for Morris earlier talking about he wishes Kawhi would take more shots, there's something to that. But also Kawhi, I think, has been intent on keeping the ball hopping and making sure that he doesn't become a black hole on offense. And it's just the Kawhi Leonard show in isolations all the time. He had six assists. He and Paul George led the Clippers in assists. They're

two superstars. They both had six. Luke Nard had five, probably too many for Luke, too many passes he's he still got up seven shots, six of them were from distance, and he made a big one who was a twenty eight footer in the fourth quarter. But something the Clippers can build off of. But we'll see what happens Monday night against the Boston Celtics, who were now down one h three to nine. He was seven forty five

left in the fourth quarter. All right, before we get out of here, I do want to thank the Clippers organization, Noah Eagles, safe travels, my friend. Same to Brian Semen.
