Now, your host Adam osled the Clippers strike gold in the fourth quarter and they beat the Denver Nuggets one thirteen to one oh seven and a classic Clippers comeback victory. Welcome into Clippers Talk. I'm Atam oslin to eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is a phone number or get to me at follow Adam a on Twitter. We are
periscoping. I hope it's working. I'll check it during the break. Still working out the kinks there. The Clippers were doing the same in this one. They weren't playing great basketball. They were down by twelve early in the
second quarter. They were having some issues staying in front of their man and the Denver Nuggets were taking advantage of it because they had a ton of offensive rebounds in the game, eight of them, and I think four of them came from Michael Porter Junior, and they were all putbacks, second chance points, and it looked like that along with runouts where the Denver Nuggets were sneaking behind the Clippers defense. It happened three different times in the game. We're
going to be the Clippers undoing. That was going to be their fate. But the Clippers stepped up as they have done time and time before in the fourth quarter when they were down ninety seven to ninety and played their best basketball and their best was required. And it wasn't just one player taking over either.
There were four players with five points in the fourth quarter. Kawhi Leonard, yes, was one of them, So was Sweet Lou Williams with a huge three pointer and also a driving Layoup PG thirteen, who led them with thirty two points. He had five points in the fourth and Monstatrez also had five. Three of those came at the free throw line. They had to
hit their free throws late. Kawhi Leonard, of course, stepped up with clutch makes at the very end of the game, even though he struggled, still didn't have his a game, still didn't have his best performance coming off the thirteen point game. Though he had twenty three tonight nine of nineteen coming off a four of seventeen performance, But he started this one off three of three. He never really got into a groove. But what does Doc Rivers
always say? When what you do best isn't working, how else can you help the team in Kawhi Leonard's defense was huge in the fourth with the big block, but he had five rebounds. He was boxing out. What was killing the Clippers with all those offensive rebounds, Well, he shored that up in the fourth quarter. Denver wasn't getting those boards. It was Kawhi Leonard ended up with fourteen rebounds in the game and six assists, and he was
finding the big men out there. He set up of Visa Zoobots multiple times. He set up Monster Trez in the fourth, he set up Marcus Morris. Kawhi finished with six assists, So he did a little bit of everything to help this team. Wasn't just a thirty five point game, and that's what did it. They had to grind it out. They had to have this gritty performance, and I think there were some championship like tendencies in this game that you saw from them. First of all, just coming back down
multiple times. But the way they won this game is they had to face a lot of adversity and they had to overcome it. They couldn't get over the hump last game. Remember they were down five with eight minutes and thirty six seconds in game two. They were down by seven in this one even more and early in the fourth quarter, and I want to say it was with I'll get the exact time, with eight twenty nine left, so right where they were a last game which they couldn't pull off the comeback with they
were tonight. It was a Marcus Moore's jump shot and eleven footer. Then PG thirteen hit a three. Then Sweet Lou Williams, off of a steal, was able to hit a three pointer, and Patrick Beverly of course made big plays down the stretch. He had a steal and a block early on in the fourth quarter that helped swing the game. But they held Nikola Yokich, who was fantastic. He had fourteen points in the third quarter to just
four points in the fourth. He still finished with thirty two twelve eight assists on thirteen of twenty four shooting. He was unbelievable. Didn't matter a visa. Zubos was in foul trouble the entire game. Fouled out with about five minutes left after a huge throw down where he caught the n one and that six foul. That was tough. It was debatable. I didn't think it was a foul. I thought he played him straight up. So the Clippers
had to overcome that too. I mean, he had two fouls in the first three minutes of the game, and that's what I think threw off their defense. Initially because Big Zoo was out of the game three minutes in, and then Monster Tress, who hasn't been quite right since he returned hadn't played much basketball and got back into the bubble and this was just his eighth game.
But I thought he played okay, had a couple of steals, He was better at contesting and then also was more aggressive offensively at the basket. Took it at Nicola Yokich on a play in the second half to Michael Green, though they needed more from him because of Viza Zubots was out, and even Marcus Morris had nice position when guarding Nikola Yokis late in the game and
caused him to miss like a three footer. It took everybody in this one, the old saying for the Clippers it takes everyone, or it takes everything. You could attribute that to this win. A lot of guys had to play above themselves. But for the most part, if you want to go player of the Game PG thirteen, Paul George I see playoff P is trending for the right reasons. He finished with thirty two points. He had seventeen
in the first half, had ten more in the third quarter. Without those, they probably lose by ten because Nikola Yokis was going off in that quarter and PG kept them steady. We talked about this before when it was Kawhi Leonard picking him up those first four games against the Dallas Mavericks. That would reverse with the other two way superstar on this team and he would help out Kauai. That's what he did offensively, leading them and scoring with thirty two
and was consistent, consistently aggressive throughout all four quarters. He had ten points in the first quarter when Nikola Yokich also had ten. He was basically countering whatever Denver was doing to keep the Clippers within striking distance, and they would strike hard in that fourth quarter. They won it by ten. After giving up thirty two points on the first quarter, twenty seven in the second,
and twenty nine in the third quarter. They held Denver to nineteen points in the fourth and Denver went just one of nine from distance when their defense had to show up and it looked like they were just going to trade baskets with Denver for most of the game. They finally did in the final twelve minutes, and I thought Kawhi Leonard was spectacular on that end for the most part. The block he had two of them in the game, but impact plays
from Patrick Beverley and Sweet Lou Williams in the first half. When the Clippers were down by twelve. In that second quarter, they cut it to two within two minutes. They went on a ten oh run and it was a couple of steals by PG thirteen and two steals from Sweet Lou Williams. That was big, just being down two, when they were down by as many
as twelve and that second quarter going into the half. To cut it to two, they had to have that, and I thought they fed off of Lou Williams and his energy and the way he was playing, and the plus minus category backs it up. He led them was a plus twenty even though he only had ten points. This wasn't a thirty five point performance from Lou
Williams. He did the little things, had three assists, five boards, but the two steals that helped swing the momentum early in that well late in the second quarter, but in that first half, I don't know if they win this game without Lou doing the little things. Everybody had to just chip in a little bit here and there, just dig in a little bit more
to find a way to win. You don't want to go down two games to one against the Denver Nuggets. Noah Eagle had the stat I think it is seventy four percent of the time the team that wins when tied up at a game of piece in game three goes on to win the series. But there was something about this victory, the way they had to pull it out, the things they had to do, the focus they had to show late, that sense of urgency that came in in the fourth quarter. There was
a championship mindset there. There was a refuse to lose attitude where we will not be denied. Nikola Yokich going for thirty two points, a thirty two point triple DOUBLEI be damned. Michael Porter Junior trying to get his revenge game on on the Clippers with eighteen points off the bench, and I mean half of his makes, his eight makes were just put backs at the basket. Denver wasn't even turning the ball over. They didn't have their first turnover.
This is how good they were playing early on. They didn't have their first turnover in the game till I think the seven minute mark of the second quarter. They only finished with twelve. That's good. The Clippers had seventeen. Again, they have to do a better job taking care of the basketball.
But even with all of that being out rebounded well on the offensive side, in all the extra possessions that were created for the Denver Nuggets where they ended up attempting nineteen more shots and the Clippers still won by six, it was just a remarkable effort late to flip the switch. And I like the fact that it wasn't just one guy, wasn't just two guys. It took everybody
to find a way to win this game. Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number or get to me at follow Adam A. This is the type of win you can build upon though, that you can keep in your back pocket, kind of like what they did in Game six to close out the Dallas Mavericks. They didn't want to take that to a seventh game, and they made sure they closed that out the right way. And you're seeing it again
in tonight where they didn't want to go down two games to one. They made the plays they had to in the fourth quarter. They played the defense that they had to finally in that fourth quarter. All right, coming up here on Clipper Stock, you'll hear from Doc Rivers post game. We'll get to your phone calls eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six
six nine eight seven two five seventy. Clippers come back down seven with eight minutes left, they win by six at a score of one thirteen to one oh seven. In Game three over the Denver Nuggets. They're up two games to one in this best of seven second round series. We'll talk about Game four as well, coming up on Wednesday night. You're listening to Clipper Stock here on AM five seventy L sports a clutch Clippers performance down the stretch.
They forced Denver into five turnovers in the fourth quarter and the Clippers come back down seven to win one thirteen to one oh seven in Game three of the second round best of seven series with Denver. Welcome back into Clipper Stock. I'm at a maslin to eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. Let's go to Clipper Joe in La. Hello, Clipper Joe. What do you know,
Clipper Joe? Grab that phone? Oh Clipper Joe letting me down? How are you gonna go with Clipper Joe and not show up like the Clippers just did in the fourth quarter? Was that him at the end? Do I dare Clipper Joe? You're on? Hello? That's you? Come on, Clipper Joe. Yes, Oh man, I literally just put my phone on speaker. What Clipper Joe, what'd you like about the game tonight? My man? You kill me? Oh man, okay, I'm back on.
Well, I'll tell you this much, man, Paul freaking George, I mean, that's why you traded for him right there, because as much as we loved Say, as much as we loved Nilo, as much as we wanted those draft picks, man, I don't think two could have had the impact on the game on both ends that he had. That was sensational, And I'm so happy for him personally because we know he's been struggling.
He admitted that. Even before he admitted he was mentally struggling, people were ragging on him, and it was just still sensational to see him do well. There were a million other things that I loved about the game, but you pretty much stayed on them all out of us. You always do. And I just wanted to say, go Clipper Nation, baby la R way, I love it all right, Clipper Joe clutch performance there after having some
phone issues at first, good phone call. PG thirteen, by the way, now since game four, remember those first four games, well, Game one he played well against Dallas, but games two, games three, games four he really struggled obviously Since then though, the last five playoff games for PG thirteen twenty five points per game, six boards, four assists, fifty percent shooting from the field, forty three percent shooting from distance, he's turned
it around and he kept the Clippers in the game when Denver could have gone up fifteen, could have gone up twenty points. It was really the long ball from PG thirteen and how aggressive he was at the basket. Goes five of seven from distance. And one of the other stats was the Clippers well they attacked, unlike last game where they struggled at times getting into the paint and finishing well. This time they got to the free throw line and they
went twenty of twenty six. The difference there is huge because Denver would just get to the line for ten attempts. They made eight of them. Before we get back to your phone calls here at eight six six ninety seven two five seventy eight six six ninety seven two five seventy let's hear from Doc Rivers post game after this Clippers Game three comeback. Obviously, Paul had thirty two points tonight, but what can you say about his effort on the defensive end.
Yeah, it's it's funny. Two guys, you know we we we talked about after the game. PG thirty two was huge, but his defense was was far more impressive for us. And then Lou I mean Lou made two or three stills and got involved. No. I told Lou like he was four for eleven, you know, not a great offensive game, but he was a plus twenty when he was on the floor tonight because he was a playmaker and he did little things offensively. So that was That was a
tough game. Both teams I thought executed well. They had nineteen more shots than us, you know, and the offensive rebounds I thought really hurt us. Doc when Jamal Murray tries to dunk on Kawai and Kawai blocked that shot with his middle finger, I guess, first of all, have you ever seen a block with a middle finger before? And two what did that do for your team? Just all our defense down the stretch, you know, the game came down to one of the two teams was gonna play some defense.
And for three and a half quarters, you know, both teams were basically scoring uh and then in the last six minutes it was our defense. I thought that that played by Kawhi was amazing. I didn't know it with one finger. I thought he just blocked it, but it was impressive. I didn't even know where he came from, so it was a heck. Of a play that that defensive effort not only finished the fourth quarter, but
also to end of the second quarter. Yeah, I guess where was that The rest of the time, you guys are getting beat back on defense. It seemed like there are multiple lapses. Yeah, we had a lot of lapses. I think we gave up six points on side out of bounds, three quart of court where they threw it long and scored. I mean, those are just those are hard to recover from, you know. And we had our lapses, there's no doubt about that, Andrew. But overall,
when we locked in, we're really good. Next, look at a Dan in the bubble. Yeah, it's been it feels like that all year with us. It's it's been in spurked. You know, it's frustrating, but it's not in the in the I look at the whole picture then and I realized we haven't been together. We haven't had a lot of time together. H So I get it. But the mental lapses are the ones that are really fresh. We had a lot of mental lapses today. Uh, and we got away with it. But you can't. You can't be great and
do that every night. Next we're gonna go to Miriam did congrats. Lou on the other feet, said that they decided they didn't want to lose the game. They want didn't want to have a feeling they had the other night. Do you feel that? Yeah? Do you do you feel that moment or that switch like when they get in that you know, I just coach like, it's good that the players feel that way. I'm sure Deafer felt that way as well though, Marin and it just came down and really we
made tougher defensive players down the stretch. Next one go to Thomas Hey. Coach, last game, you spoke about, you know, kind of the starters having to set the table for the bench. Did you feel as though they did a better job but that's night, Yeah, I did. I thought, at least offensively, we were so much better. We moved the ball. I mean, I think we shot fifty five percent fifty four point seven h So I thought, offensively, we're so much more efficient, uh
than we were the other night. And I thought, you know, PG really set the tone in there. A few more. We'll go to camp Hey. The Kauhi had fourteen rebounds and Pat Beverly had a negative thirteen on the plus minus I'm not a big stat guy, but when you see Pat bev with a negative thirteen and the effects he had in the game, what do you think about that? I ignore it. You know that was a plus for us. You know, he was just happening to be on the
floor. You know the thing. You gotta be keptable with plus minus because there's times when you're just on the floor when the other team is making a run. Uh and sometimes that's just bad law. Sometimes this is what you're doing tonight. Down the stretch, Pat was huge, back to back turn steel scores, big rebounds. He just makes so many plays that aren't static. It's amazing. There was Doc Rivers post scheme. I agree with him. It depends who's on the floor with you and who's on the floor for
the other team. The plus minus category, like most advanced stats, has its flaws. Let's go to Tagius in Walnuts Tags. What's up? You're on Clippers talk? After they win one thirteen to one oh seven in Game three, they adam glad that we got to win. I was on pins and needles all game, but you know it seemed like PG. You know, when we talk about a two way player, he showed it guarding.
He's playing well on Murray pretty much the whole series, and you know, and he shot the ball well, so that was a big plus because if we didn't have that, I don't think we would have got to doubles. Uh. I'm trying to make sense of these numbers. It's pretty crazy that we ended up actually winning because they had a lot more assists than we did. They shot nineteen more times. That's the crazy stat if you think about it. They shot the ball in nineteen more times and he still pull up
the victory. The Clippers were a little bit more efficient from three tags, and they were a plus twelve in the free throw battle, right, I didn't going forward. I think when you see the low assists numbers from the Clippers, it means that maybe they weren't moving the ball well because when they have a higher number of assists, they usually end up winning the games comfortably. So hopefully they can get that going. And it's good to see Luke
come through in the fourth. He's been struggling for a while, and hopefully they can run some more high screen and rolls. Like I think towards the end of the game, he got that clutch layup on the high screen and roll, and I think when he's aggressed, if he's able to pick them apart pretty well. So hopefully he keeps it going. Thanks V today, just thank you for the phone call. Sweet Lou Williams. Remember two years ago he led the league in fourth quarter scoring. I believe he led the
Clippers this year in fourth quarter scoring. Played more games than some other guys, but he was efficient too, at least in that last five minutes of a game within five points, those clutch minutes. But we've seen this in the bubble. He looks a little bit more spry. The four months off did did him some good, and he's been in attack mode more often. His three pointers haven't been falling as much. He was over six last game, but hit two big ones in this game, and obviously that three pointer
in the fourth quarter was critical. Clippers win game three, one thirteen to one oh seven. We'll take a quick break, we'll come back. We'll have some more postgame audio for you. We'll get to your phone calls eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy Rick, Jeff hold On, we'll get to you plus we're on periscope. I believe it's working at AM five seventy l a Sports or just go to a follow Adam am on Twitter account. Clippers up two games to
one on the Denver Nuggets. More Clipper stock coming up next right here on AM five seventy l a Sports. Kawhi Leonard had the middle finger block in the Ford. What he blocked the ball with just his middle finger. Now that's normally the size of someone else's hand. But he did all the little
things. Even though his shot was not falling just nine of nineteen from the field, still had fourteen boards and six assists with those twenty three points, and the Clippers would win one thirteen to one oh seven in Game three over the Denver Nuggets. They had to have it, and they got it late, and it took a big effort from a lot of guys to make it happen. Let's go to Rick in La. Rick, what's up? You're on Clippers stuck with Adam Moslin. How are you? Yeah? What's up?
Man? Yeah? This was a this was a great game back and forth. Credit the Nuggets there, but the experience he saw down the stretch there of the Clippers really took off and great to see Lou finally getting going on. He's been slumping badly. PG was really effective. Love to see him. And then obviously Kawhi. He's the best player going right now, just on both ends of the four. Yeah you mentioned that block the man, that thing was a thing of beauty. I just felt like the Clippers
down the stretch really took advantage of it. I don't know they taking Murray was a huge factor of the game. You want Jeremy Grant shoot, and he will shot them out of that game there, out of that stretch there
where he missed like what fourth straight shots or something like that. So if you can really keep him in checking Murray like they have when, I think that's gonna be because you see, as great as Jokeag is, I just don't think he has a stamina to really keep it up for latent games because I just don't think he has that body type or shakee to really get going like that. So that quarter kids pretty impressive too, but he's just young
them. I don't know why Malone has a play those guys, but I really think of help assisted the Clippers there to have a stretch and get them and penalty, get to the free tow line, and you know, the Clippers are money closing out these games. So you see that the Nuggets, man, theyn't really count the game. But I just think they're young, ineffective group down a stretch and they don't have experience. And you see, I think that's the difference in it between them the Clippers is these are gonna
be tight games. So I'm gonna expect going forward. I can Game one was a one off coming off that seven game series against Utah. What are your thoughts like that? Do you just expect you to be grinded out games because the talent exposed to at the megatath. I'll take yourself on that great win and close them out on Wednesday? Thanks Rick, good phone call as
always. Yeah, the Clippers won game won by twenty three points, and we wondered how much was taken out of the Denver Nuggets because they had to come back down three one in that first round series against the Utah Jazz. Their legs weren't there, they didn't have them. They were better than that performance. Although the Clippers were really good in that game. It depends on when they lock in defensively. They still have to be better than this for
forty eight minutes. If they're gonna win a championship, they just do. They won the first quarter just trading baskets back and forth, and they only won the first quarter by one at thirty three to thirty two. Now,
it's not easy to slow a team down like the Denver Nuggets. But once again, the Clippers were much better in the second half, just like they were in Game two where they held I think in Game two, after Denver shot seventy something percent in the first quarter, they only shot thirty five percent the rest of the way. The Clippers held them to nineteen points in the fourth quarter. And yes, we haven't talked enough about PG thirteen on defense.
Doc Rivers made sure to highlight that because he thought he was even better on that end than he was on offense, which is saying something. But Jamal Murray five of seventeen for fourteen points. I think he had just twelve points in Game one. That was also a lot of PG thirteen on him, and he was on him in the second half a ton last game where Jamal Murray only had seven points in the second half of Game two, and Jeremy Grant you brought him up as well. Rick five of fourteen, one
of six from distance. The Nuggets as a team went one of nine from three in that fourth quarter. They settled for long threes instead of going to the basket enough. And I think that's kind of the trade off with three pointers. When you're not being as aggressive in the paint, you're not going to get to the free throw line. And they only attempted ten free throws in the game. Clippers end up winning by six at a score of one thirteen to one oh seven. One more break here, We'll come back.
We'll get to your phone calls eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy. Oh, Jeff and Tarzannazon on line eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. PG thirteen leads them with thirty two on twelve of eighteen, shooting five of seven from three. But there were a whole lot of winning plays made late, and I do agree that their experience came into play. Denver's still very young. Michael Porters Junior can have that
dunk on monster trays. The Clippers are going to take the win. More Clippers stock coming up next right here on AM five seventy l A Sports. The Clippers survived their own miscues with seventeen turnovers to just twelve for the Denver Nuggets. Kawhi Leonard came up big late with five rebounds on the fourth quarter. The Clippers did all the little things to scratch out a huge win in Game three with a one thirteen to one oh seven victory over the Denver Nuggets.
Before we get out of here, Jeff in Tarzana, Jeff Yard, Clippers stop with autam Maslin, what's up? Jeff? I always say, I'm never a doubt, never a doubt. Down seven with eight minutes left. Never, Okay, you know what, the Clippers should just stop playing in the first quarter and making a three point game because you know, after the Nuggets scored thirty two points in the first quarter, they only scored seventy five for the rest of the game. That only average is one hundred.
And I think if the Clippers are playing anywhere near their optensive potential, don't they aren't they averaging over one hundred points in the bubble? Oh? Yes, okay? And you know what I don't know understand if you're getting killed on the boards and Zuboff is al, would you not play Noah for maybe three minutes a game? You want to see Joe Kim out there pretty bad.
I've noticed this trend with you in the last couple of calls there, Jeff Party, I've noticed you brought up Jokim Noah the last couple of calls. Now, well, I think he deserves to play a little bit. He has enough experience. I mean, when you're figuring that how much did joke has scored a night, and how many rebounds did he have? He had thirty two points and twelve boards, all right, and what he call it didn't even score in double figures and had what six rebounds? Are Vita
Zubots? Yeah, he had eight points, three boards in twenty two minutes. Okay, but you gotta understand a little a little often. I'm not telling playing twenty minutes a game. But I mean the guys got a lot of experience. He was on winning team. We'll see that, Jeff, We'll see if it happens. I appreciate the phone call. Okay, after
Wednesday's victory, All right, sounds good, look a Visa Zubats. The reason he didn't have that many boards is because he was on the perimeter most of the time defending nikolok That's where he did a lot of his damage. Hit three three pointers. The arc on his shot is to the level of Dirk Navinski and what we used to see from him. It's unbelievable. It almost goes out of the TV screen. You don't even know what you're looking
at with the mortar fire that Nikoli Yokitch is putting down from distance. And he's that good of a player. It's not on a visa zubats I thought. Overall he played really well. Also hit his free throws, went six of seven. He is a good free throw shooter for a big man. But was a plus ten out there and had a huge throwdown in the fourth quarter that I thought. You know, a dunk can be more more than just two points. Sometimes Actually it was then too because he got the end
one and hit the free throw. But sometimes it can be a momentum play in a spark. Gilbert and west Covina. Before we get out of here, Gilbert, what's up? Final call of the night? Hey Adam, great listening to you man, I love the show. Listen. So what is Joe Kim Noah gonna play at all in this series or is this still Jeff and Tarzana? This is a play at call though the last caller said that asked the same thing, Gilbert. You gotta understand he's not the defensive
Player of the Year version of Joe Kim Noah from twenty fourteen anymore. And they have Jamichael Green in there who they like to go to, who plays who has played Nikola Yokich? Doc Rivers said better than anyone really in this series because of his mobility. So you got ja, Michael Green, and Marcus Moore's actually dead him up well at the end too. Think about this, Nikola Yokich, he had twenty eight points going into the fourth. He
only scored four points. He only made one field goal. The other two points worth the free throw line. They did a good job on him in the fourth, Right, what about Patrick Patterson? Is he gonna see some minutes in the series? Do you think we'll see with Pat pat But obviously your rotations are going to be shortened, and Gilbert, I appreciate the phone call. We're up against it here, we gotta get out of here. Patrick Patterson has been great from three all season long, shooting about forty percent
from there and looked even better in the bubble. But guys are and starters are going to be playing heavier minutes now. It's the playoffs, so we'll see. Doc Rivers has always been very good at pushing the right button, at getting the right guy in to bring that energy. Trust and Doc Rivers in this coaching staff. Clippers make the adjustments in the fourth quarter, they hold Denver to just nineteen points in the final twelve minutes, and they win
one thirteen to one oh seven. Before we get out of here, I do want to thank the Clippers organization, Noah Eagle, Brian Seaman, Ralph Lawler, my radio POTTNA back here in Burbank, Kevin figures until Wednesday with your Clippers pregame shows starting at five. We're Game four. I'm at a Oslin. We will talk to you then
