Time for a postgame. Look, it's your La Clippers. This is Clippers Locker Road, brought to you by Cedars Sinai, the official health partner of the La Clippers, and by Patschonga, official travel casino of the LA Clippers. Breaking down today's action with the pre and post game voice. If you're La Clippers, They're locking in every game, every night, Adam Osland.

The Clippers strike first. They hold it down here at home and win game one, one oh nine to ninety seven over the Dallas Mavericks without Kawhi Leonard. Welcome into your post game show. I'm at a Moslin coming up on the Patriot Am eleven fifty. We will have clipperstock for you if you want to get on early eight seven seven five to two zero eleven fifty eight seven seven five two zero eleven fifty. But first we head back over to your

radio voice of the Clippers in Carlojmenez. The Clippers did enough to hold on late, and it was that first half where they were up big and cruising with all those three pointers falling from the outside, Carlo, that really helped the Clippers build up that eventual lead, eventual win. Yeah, it really was the opening the jump by at the opening gate that gave them the cushion

to be able to hang on at him. I felt like they did a fantastic job in this game of making sure their shots were timely, of making sure they hung onto the basketball, of really making things tough early on on Kyrie and Luca. I think getting back on the defensive end, Adam, how many times did we see Dallas spread ahead for an easy fast break bucket. I mean, not much at all. They had a lot more in

the second half than the first half. The Clippers did an excellent job from the jump, focusing on the things that Tyleru talked about, and it felt like in this one they got it done because of the focus they played from the start. Not to mention Big Zoo. You brought it up with Terrence Man post game. He had a double double at the half, he was dominant, he had he was in double figures in the first quarter. I just love the fact that they got him a little bit more involved than we

have seen in some time. They knew he had the mismatch and the matchup advantage in his favor. He took advantage of it, played heavy minutes. This is what they need all series from Big Zoo, one hundred percent agree. I mean, he played Gafford and Lively off the floor. I mean it's really unbelievable because we talked about making sure he plays and when he plays thirty more minutes a game. The Clippers record this season now thirteen and four.

He plays thirty plus today and he dominated and Klibo was what they went

to to try to stop him. Really a last resort for Dallas. If if Vita zu Watts continues this play, the Clippers should have a great, great finish of this series because when he's going, it is just tough to stop everybody else with the Clippers, we mentioned Paul George struggled a little bit with the shot eight of twenty twenty two points, but eleven of them came in the fourth quarter, and I believe he had seventh straight at one point

out of a timeout. Huge buckets from your superstar. Without Kawhi Leonard, Paul George was able to step up when they needed him to. It was big. He was really really big the shots out of the time out finding his teammates. I thought at him, he had a stretch of defense at one point in this game where he stopped two different layups by driving Maverick players by going vertical. That was excellent, held them from getting those fast break

points. As good as he was offensively, clearly locked in on the dast defensive end, and for the Clippers, that's where it started in this game. Fifty eight points in the first half is good. Allowing thirty is excellent, and that's how they got this done. Russell Westbrook off the bench gave the Clippers a spark as you would expect. He's got that playoff intensity in a regular season game, so I guess in the playoffs it's like an NBA

Finals level intensity out there. He had the crowd into it, but the defense he was playing, aside from the highlight dunks, he had a nice lob from James Harden to him. I just love that he took up the challenge of staying in front of his man, no matter if it was Kyrie Irving or Luka Doncs out there. Yeah, it really felt like the bench, especially mean even makes them Plumbley had some good moments. Defensively, not

everyone gave full effort on that side. There was only a couple times in which Luco was left all alone, the Clippers thirty three points to get to on twenty six shots. You'll take that every single game did finish with thirteen rebounds to lead the team as well. It was a great win man of Clippers because they executed. They executed exactly what they wanted to do. Tyler said, this is in a feel out game. I want to win this game, and that's what they did. They came in with that strategy,

they won the game. Now the chess pieces are gonna move a little bit, the strategies will continue to ebb and flown. What does Jason Kidd draw up for his group. I'm sure he's already thinking about it. But for the Clippers, a great way to punch first in this series against Dallas. You mentioned it, but that move from Maxi Kleeba playing a lot in the

second half. I wonder if they're going to start him. You talked about it after the ballgame, but just to bring Avista Zubots away from the paint even more, make him guard on the perimeter, that could be a wrinkle

moving forward in this series. Should be interesting. Game two right back here at Crypto dot Com Arena on Tuesday night, we'll be tipping off at seven pregame shows starting at six as the Clippers strike first and get the victory one O nine to ninety seven in Game one over the Dallas Mavericks without Kawhi Leonard Carlo Jimenez. The Clippers led by twenty six in the first half. It was fifty six to thirty at the half, feest amount of points the Clippers had given up in a half in a playoff game ever, any half, and they did so against Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. And they did so because Big Zoo had twelve and ten in the first twenty four minutes.

He kept it going in the third tend to shoot Man find Zoo the upload the finish eight a Zuo bots with fourteen on tumble Tumble think you've gotta go to work. We're gonna gets to the smaller Kleva Muscles is waging in the paint. Turns ready hook shot over the top of the ram and n George has been delivering all second half deep on the left side, crosses over fly to the ram up flake effort. Two batts is there to finish. On

the recycle. Zubos stumbles, finds Norman Pound at the right wing, attacks the baseline, flips it up a left hand, two bats, another rebound, another finish. Twenty points for Zumbats a super size double double with fifteen rebounds. Big Zoo was a monster in this ball game. He had eight and five in the third quarter alone. The Clippers entered the fourth up eighty seven to sixty four. Things got a little bit dicey, but PG thirteen

would take him home. Swings the pumpley back door Georgie's alone. He dump to it two hands, Oh tyl, want to play golf. George danced his left elbow jumper bottoms four in a row from Paul George. Harden finds George in the right wing, rises for three. Oh yeah, Paul George. Forty seconds left. George straight away pulls up for two and banks it

in Paul George with a toe on the tape. Paul George had eleven of its twenty two points in the fourth cour or, and the Clippers go on to win by a final score of one O nine to ninety seven in Game one over the Dallas Mavericks. Game two is right back here Tuesday night.

The Clippers ended up shooting forty six percent from the field, but what saved them was going eighteen of thirty six from the outside. Dallas just ten of thirty three from three after they started two of eighteen in the first half from

distance. But the Clippers stayed hot from three throughout it and it was those timely three point shots in the second half to stem the tide each and every time the Dallas Mavericks and Luca Donstris and Kyrie Irving were making a run. Clippers also out rebound in Dallas forty five to forty one. Thanks to Big Zoo, he had fifteen boards four offensive rebounds, finished with twenty and fifteen,

leading your Los Angeles Slippers James Harden. He had twenty of his twenty eight points in the first half, went eight of seventeen from the floor, but six of his eight makes were from three hit a big one in the fourth quarter as Paul George hit a few of them. He had eleven of his twenty two points in the fourth when things got a little bit scary against the Dallas Mavericks team because he never feel like they're out of a ballgame when

they have Luca Donsons and Kyrie Irving. It was Paul George stepping up. Had seven straight points overall off shooting the night eight of twenty four of twelve from distance, but stayed aggressive and hit timely shots as well. Leading the Dallas Mavericks. Luca Doncis thirty three points, right about his average on the

season. Guyriy Iring had thirty one win eight of eight in that third quarter with twenty points, but the Clippers held the floodgates back and they would win one oh nine to ninety seven in Game one again Game two right back here at Crypto on Tuesday night. This is Clippers stock here on the Patriot AM

We're looking for postgame audio from Coach Lou and the players. Well to start to this twenty twenty four playoff campaign by your Los Angeles Clippers. We found out just about an hour before, make it two hours before the ballgame from Coach Lou himself at Kawhi le would be out

with inflammation in his right knee. And the one thing that I kept thinking about over the last week, with all this news swirling and the rumors of Willie, won't he be able to play? And then over the last forty eight hours or so most reporters were saying he was going to be out, kept thinking, you just got to get one at home. If you can get the split here at Crypto, you can give Kawhi Leonard almost a week longer to recover before Game three takes place in Dallas on Friday night. And

the Clippers have already accomplished that much winning Game one. But now you got to get greedy. Big brother Jenk's been telling me this team can go up two to oh in the first couple of games here at home, and with the way they played in the first half, setting a franchise record of only giving up thirty points in a playoff game and a half. They were up fifty six to thirty on Dallas twenty four minutes in. I believe him, Yo, Big Bro's onto something. This Clippers team was dialed in, locked

in. You could see it immediately, and that's where I start to think something has changed. Maybe they have been able to flip a switch. Maybe a lot of those laps is the last couple of months defensively where they were a bottom three defense for a period of time, a long period from February through March. Perhaps they found themselves. I said it in a William Wallace

like rallying speech in the opening segment of our pregame show. But typically when the Chips are down, when their backs are against the wall, this Clippers team comes out swinging when they're facing adversity, like not having one of their superstars. It seems to always be when they play their best. It then requires you to have a certain level of urgency and effort out there because your

margin for error has shrunk without Kawhi Leonard. So they came out, they looked focused, They got the ball to my player to watch, not just in this game, in this series, Big Zoo. They featured him like they should. He had ten and four in the first quarter, five of six from the field. James Harden started hot eleven points on the first quarter, four or five shooting three or three from distance. And they were doing

the other part of the game plan. I was hoping they would attack, go right at Kawhi, go right at excuse me, Kyrie Irving and Luka Daancish, go at them. Without Kawhi Leonard to do so, other guys have to step up and make sure they make Dallas's two best players work defensively. If you do that, you can take something out of their legs to where they could get gassed on the other end. Now, they started to pull through in the second half. They started to play better. It's expected.

They're great. They're gonna get hot. Kyrie Irving had twenty points on the third quarter on eight of eight shooting. But they had that cushion because they played their best half of basketball of the season in the first half. It has to be considering the opponent, considering the stakes. To execute on both ends to that level was meaningful. The Clippers got hot from the outside, and Dallas struggled early on. They were two for eighteen in the first

half from distance. The Dallas Mavericks a top five offense. They've been even better than that really since the trade deadline. And meanwhile, some of those guys they acquired had off nights. PJ. Washington was pretty good. Some of his defense against Paul George was special. I was impressed. I've heard that since he got away from the Charlotte Hornets. It is a organization that is going through some turnover again and that perpetual rebuild. Well, he had

eleven points, a couple of threes, seven boards. But the defense on Paul George I have heard about since he came to Dallas. It's changed this team him getting into the starting lineup. But Daniel Gafford was just one of four in fourteen minutes with three points and rolled his ankle in the second quarter and came back and looked pretty ineffective. And if he'sa Zoo, bots can do that to you. I don't know how many times I have to say it. Big Zoo is like that. He's an elite rim protector that has

moves on the offensive end. If you give him the opportunity to cook a little bit and against this Dallas Mavericks team. I thought coming in he's the X factor. If Big Zoo has a big series, the Clippers can win this series even without Kawhi for now open he's back game two, who knows,

maybe he's not back to Game three or four. But getting the split here at Crypto and winning the opening game and giving yourself from some momentum and belief that even without Kawhi Leonard you can steal, not just compete, but beat this Dallas Mavericks team. The defensive effort by the Clippers overall, they just came after Luca and Kyrie in waves. First it was opening the ballgame Terrence man on Luca and a mere Coffee who got the start in place of

Kawhi Leonard, something I predicted. And they were giving up fits because then they could switch and also switch with Paul George. So there were three different guys that are good defenders that they threw at him from the beginning. It broke whatever rhythm they were trying to get into. That's what you saw. And at the half, Kyrie was one for six, Luca was four for

thirteen. You can't hold him down forever, and I thought there was some slippage on the defensive end, and it eroded a little bit by the Clippers being that connected as they got into the second half and into the fourth quarter. But they were so good to start it was enough. Well, they have to be even better in Game two. Likely, So Dallas is not gonna shoot twenty two percent and a half the rest of this series. I'm just gonna say that right now, probably not going two of eighteen from three

and a half the rest of this series. What happened in the second half was more indicative of who they are. Great Clippers defense combined with Dallas clanking some shots that they usually make. But there can be nerves. Guys can get tight in a game like this when you're down twenty that quickly, every shot seems much more important, and I think it was getting to the Dallas Mavericks. They were looking for a ten point play to get back into it

and it wasn't happening. So the Clippers led fifty six to thirty at the half. As I get choked up just looking at that box score. For a long day, we're working through it here with my voice. But in the third quarter, it was back to Big Zoo, something I kind of

demanded, get back to your principles. The reason you got up by as many points as twenty tenn points in the first half is because I Visa Zubats was detonating, and it's that physical play from him at the rim, where the Clippers have struggled throughout most of the season with points in the paint.

Big Zuo doesn't struggle there, get him the basketball, so he ends up with eight more points in the third quarter alone, and the Clippers are able to absorb another early run by the Dallas Mavericks in that third quarter, And that was about timely shooting from distance. Look, the Clippers shot fifty percent

from three eighteen thirty six. That's not necessarily sustainable ether, but the timely threes when it's down to a twenty point game, after Luca hits a three and Terrence Man out of a timeout knocks one down, just a huge shot. I think Paul George maybe he was trying to work himself out of that shooting slump by going to the basket multiple times for highlight dunks that he could not get to go down. Felt like maybe he was looking for Birdman somewhere

because that was the mode he was in twenty thirteen. VG thirteen tried went on Maxie ball, went out of bounds, got blocked by Gafford on one. But in between there and the third quarter, and I like the aggressiveness Zoo locked up Luca on a possession where he had him completely befuddled. That's progress, that's growth from your big man who's still witched on to him plenty on the perimeter. And I think did a pretty damn good job overall,

did what he could. It's gonna happen throughout the series. There's gonna be times where it's one on one matchup with Luca and Big Zoo, and Big Zoo more than held his own. I thought Russell Westbrook also very good in this ball game and hit some timely shots, including after the lead was down to eighteen early in the fourth quarter. Wasn't just about his defense, but a huge three. He had two of them. It's not his shot, but his playoff time, and he knocked him down. It was good to

see. My concern the fourth quarter was they had five turnovers. I said, if Dallas is gonna get back into this, the Clippers are gonna have to have some miscues, they're gonna have to help them. They did, unfortunately, but the Clippers did enough and overall the for the energy level and the execution right where they needed to be for Game one of this twenty twenty four playoff campaign by your Los Angeles Clippers. Before we break here, let's

get to a phone call. I believe we have Jose and Downey here on Clippers Stock on the Patriot, AM eleven fifty. Jose, what's up, hey, Adam? How you doing? Man? Man? It's almost like we foresee this coming about Zubac being the big difference, asking for it all year long, and I'm glad that they waited to the playoffs game one to deliver. I mean, he just had a stretch of six straight double doubles. That's the longest stretch of his career, so he was trending this way.

But I knew with this matchup against Dallas he had a huge opportunity and took advantage of it tonight today. Yeah, and you know what, and I want to say, man, George did really well manned that defense. You can see he was yelling at everybody where to be, you know, win the switch and and that's what we needed from him. If we didn't need the scoring in that first half, we needed him to set the temple.

But man Harden Zoubach Westbrook offensively in that first half and part of that third quarter, they did their thing, and Paul George when we needed that scoring when it was getting a little bleak at times, he either drove, made the right pass or hit a timely shot and never let up on the defensive rebounding, the offensive rebounding. I can't say enough about this guy right now. Yeah, impactful plays there. Paul George did it all on both

ends. He had a rebound where he went to the floor in the fourth quarter for it. The type of hustle and heart you expect in a playoff game, but it's just a different game. In the playoffs. You see guys picking up point guards ninety four feet trying to wear them down. That accumulation over forty eight minutes of what that can do to a player's legs.

We saw it from both sides. Impressed by the Clippers though, winning in the fashion they did, especially but without Kawhi Leonard to take Game one one O nine to ninety seven. After the entire story over the last week with this time off has been will he won't he play tonight? At least they did not need him to take down Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks. We'll

take a quick time out here. Eight seven seven five two zero eleven fifty eight seven seven five to two zero eleven fifty is the phone number if you want to get on here on Clippers Talk. The Clippers get Game one one O nine to ninety seven over the Mavericks. Game two is coming up on Tuesday night. We'll talk about that. We'll get back to your phone calls. We'll hear from coach Lou as well. Right here on Clippers Talk on

the Patriot M eleven fifty pill Mavericks and the Clippers. This is the NBA Playoffs on the La Clippers Audio Network, stream US anywhere you go on the iHeartRadio app. How about them Clippers? Hey win one on nine to ninety seven in Game one of the Best and seven first round series. Here at Crypto dot com arena over the Dallas Mavericks. Welcome back into Clippers Talk. I'm out a Mosland. We're live here on the Patriot AM eleven fifty.

Prior to this group coming together. It could have been a distraction with everything being asked about Kawhi Leonard the last couple of days to players to coach Lou. But the focus level was there. Guys were locked in. You could see it from the outset eight seven seven five to two zero eleven fifty eight seven seven five to zero eleven fifty here on the Patriot eight m eleven fifty. If you want to get on, let's go to Don in La.

My man, it's Don. What's up here on Clippers? Well, it's a good time to have a conversation, right, I know, right, hey, it's uh. I love what I saw today from the Clifts. Man. I know we had a little stets back in the regular season, but that's behind us that we're here now. The regular season's about building good

habits and we know that. Now it's trying to maintain them, not only from a player standpoint, from USTO or coaching standpoint, and I love what I saw from to Lou, you know, taking the necessary time out, you know, regrouping the guys and making sure things don't get out of control and continue to manage the game so they work from all the guys man offensive

Firecar guys just locked in. Like you said, I think the flip the switch, and I think the guys, especially everybody thinking about you know, Kawhi, it is ka Whi that they forget about big zoos, you know, twenty and fifteen, five guys and double figures and man, yeah, we were just we were just balling, locked in defensively, I want to say. I think the last time and played the Mass back in December, we had seven guys in double figures and Paul George was at one of them.

So Legia basically sticked out to Wise and Paul essentially, you know. And on top of that, our sixth man of the year hoped to had a bad game. That's a good point. The Clippers can still play better. And Mere Coffee had a big six points. I would say he hit the first shot of the game, a three pointer, and I think one more in the fourth quarter. But normOn Powell was off and that does not

happen very often. Two of six, just five points. I thought his defense was pretty good, though there was a possession where he was one on one against Luka. Doncic accepted the challenge. That's what you see come playoffs. Just the playoffs show you the difference in skill set because guys are giving you maximum effort every possession out there, you see the separation and talent level. And I thought Norman Powell that was raptors. Norm Powell that we saw

some of, but he can get it going. I thought Mason Plumbley also overall, gave them good minutes. He had early on a steel as soon as he got into the ball game. I want to say he had a putback either early in the second quarter or early in the third quarter. But we were wondering, who's the backup big. They've been playing Tye, they've

been playing Plumbley, they played PJ. Tucker in this series. I came in thinking it was going to be Daniel Tice the first guy off the bench, But what happened was Gafford goes out and it was Derek Lively out there, who's seven to one. So I think they wanted to match height with HEIGHTE longsword longsword, and they brought in Mason Plumbley. I thought he was

good. I thought he was solid, one of his better performances of the season, where still felt like for a long time he just wasn't right coming off that knee injury, but verry good to see Mason Plummey in a good sign to see him being effective out there in a playoff series like this where he ended up with I know it was just two points at that put back, but five boards in twelve minutes, you'll take that. And the defense was solid enough. There was a play in the second half or a couple

of them where Dallas got the switch and he was on Luca. He was able to corral him enough deep on the right wing to where help could come and they eventually got the ball out of his hands. That's all you can ask for. I think in that situation a precarious position to be putting Mason Plumbley on Luka Doncic, who looked a little bit at times, almost like he was laboring out there. Big brother Jake Warner brought it up and he's

got a little bit a pad on the nylons on. I wonder if he's dealing with something, because I believe he had a knee injury towards the end of the season. Now he was still playing great, didn't play the last two games for the Dallas Mavericks, but Luca looked to be laboring just a little bit. Could be nothing, or it could be something they're hiding.

They don't want to give the opposition any intel on that. Again, he still ended up with thirty three points, right at his average, but it took twenty six shots to get there and just four of twelve from the outside, and didn't have the fifteen assists, didn't have ten assists, he had six, So he was more one dimensional. Something we've been talking about for a while now. That's how you have to defend Luka Dancic, Kyrie Irving. I don't know how you defend some of those shots he was making in

the third quarter. You wonder if those guys caught a rhythm that they can take into the start of game two or not. Hopefully not. We'll see Sean in Inglewood. You're on Clippers suck without a Mileston after they win one or nine to ninety seven in game one over the Dallas Mavericks, Hi Sean Heya, I was very proud of the way they started the game with a purpose and they emphasized getting in front and stand ahead. I really liked that. So that's one of the things that say I think they went coast to

coast. I don't know. I don't think Dallas ever led. Yeah, they let Sean awesome, awesome. I really liked that everybody played with energy, and as you mentioned, we didn't really get a good game from Coffee or a Powell, and I also didn't think that. I think Terrence Mann turned down a bunch of shots that he could have took or normally would take in the first half. He had eleven of US thirteen points in the second half and went three of three from three in the second half, so I

liked the bounce back performance by him. He also had a really bad whistle going his way. He was on the floor multiple times, and I don't know how some of those weren't fouls. But I was pleased overall. When you're doing as much as he has to do defensively as the primary defender against Luca don sometimes your offense can get lost in the shuffle. But he was looking for it in the third and fourth quarter. Yeah, I noticed that

myself, but overall, very good games. Zoo was fired up as he should be, and as another caller mentioned, almost on every time out they scored, they came back, they ruled it back in when Dallas was making their runs, and of course Dallas has to be thinking, Man, they beat us like that without Kawhi, you know, so they they are not the best defensive team, so that the Clippers should just keep taking it to

them. And I love the way they handled Daniel gafferd I really loved they made him I have to defend Zoo and they got him into the foul trouble area. I mean, I did foul trouble earlier and that was really important. So thumbs up all the way to the Clippers. Let's do it again. It's fifteen more to go, all right, Sean, I like it. It's a good point. Rafford had two fouls early in the first quarter. They had to bring in Lively. Eventually they went with Maxi Kleba.

They went small with the center position, wondering if that's a chess move, and early one that Jason Kidd probably didn't want to have to play that was in his back pocket because it eventually led to the Clippers going small at the very end of the game. But what it can do is is bring a beach zubats out to the perimeter and take him and his rimp protection away. So just one of the first wrinkles we really saw, but it's because Gaffer

was overall ineffective and he did get banged up. He left and went to the locker room in the second quarter and rolled his ankle out there. And Derek Lively's been dealing with a lot some personal issues, death of his mother, sad situation going on, miss a ton of games at the end of the year, also because of a right knee injury. Had a great rookie season, but timing wise, he didn't look right to me out there in his nineteen minutes, just one of three, because we've seen what he's capable

of. Lone regular season game where Dallas beat the Clippers. They had Derek Lively for that one. So they have guys that can obviously play much better. And the Clippers aren't gonna shoot fifty percent from three the entire series. Now, can they do what Dallas did the first three games against them in twenty twenty one, where they shot fifty percent from three? Literally the first three games, just extraordinary shooting that had the Clippers down in the series two

games to one. I don't know we speculated whether or not the Clippers were due for a three point onslot because they've missed a lot of good looks the second half of the season where they were leading the league in three point percentage and dropped to being I think fourth or fifth by the end of the year, just because they had like a late season swoon. I guess you could say from beyond the arc, where they just weren't the same and the looks

were there. If you looked at wide open three pointers, they were shooting thirty four percent on wide open looks. It made no sense. How about James Harden those six threes, nasty, his twenty points in the first half and really stepping up in the moment, And I thought this was an interesting comment from him. Earlier this week, leading up to the game, he

was doing a media session. He was asked about the playoffs, and instead of dodging the question where he's obviously had down moments, he took it head on. James Harden said, look, I've had some not so great moments and some great moments, and hemost definitely has. It's been hot and cold. He was hot. He ended up just eight of seventeen. But when six of those are made three pointers and you get twenty eight points on just

seventeen shots that is very efficient plus eight assists to one turnover. He's the catalyst, the straw that stirs the drink. As Brian Seman would say, another key to the series, James Harden has to be great without Kawhi Leonard. For now, he just does it. Beats the Zubots. He continues to play like this Clippers are in good shape. James Harden continues to be aggressive, looking for his but also getting everybody else involved and getting them touches.

That's the recipe for this Clippers team to not just compete, but to beat the Dallas Mavericks, even if they don't have Kawhi Leonard. And one of my other keys was Russell Westbrook. Felt like it was a good matchup for him because size wise and with his athleticism, he's another guy you can throw a Luca at times. We've seen it in the regular season and Kyrie

Irving and his defense was really good. He had a couple of deflections early on in the first half, hustle plays from Russ that I loved seeing out there. Good defense on Luca. He had a nice layup transition, was in control more when he was getting downhill, but the lob from James Harden in the second quarter had everybody out of their seat here at Krypto dot Com Arena. And then to boot a couple of three pointers and a big one

in the fourth run stopping silencer threes. That was a common thread in the second half by the Clippers. Every time Dallas was starting to chip away, the Clippers would get back with a three pointer against him. Good to see clutch shots. Big shots. Again, I don't think they're shooting fifty percent from three the rest of the way. So what are areas you can improve in? Well, they only had thirty six points in the paint. That

can go up. Nor and Powell can play better, Russ can have more than thirteen, and I think Paul George and we know we can go for thirty plus just eat twenty from the field. But fourth quarter mastery when he had to be great, when they were looking there's somebody to be a stabilizer out there without Kawhi Leonard, I had somebody Athal out of May get to me on X and say, this is where we really miss Kawhi. Who's gonna stop these Dallas Mavericks and put together a run and make a couple of

shots in a row. Paul George that dunk out of the time out on the back door cut with a pass from Mason Plumley. When I thought of eats the Zubas was gonna come back into the game, but that's a patented pass. Plumbly with the dish to PG thirteen, who was hunting a dunk earlier in the game, finally got it. Then he got in the mid

range. Then he got a three pointer that pretty much iced the game, along with a big Terrence Man. I would say three point dagger, But I was a little bit worried at times the Clippers were settling too much for threes and out running offense. It worked tonight, but there are times where you can't just always rely on the long ball. We know that with this team they get a little three happy sometimes when they're not falling. Don't let

Dallas off the hook by settling for long jump shots. All right, quick time out. Los Angeles, about and iHeartRadio station Marvin in downtown Los Angeles. Marvin you're on Clippers stock without a Moslim Hi, Marvin, Hey, Adam or shall I call you Peter R. Thomments. Could I have some faith and believe in the Clippers miracles? Like oh, Michael will say, do you believe in miracles? Yes, even though there's one game, but at least it's just the tonk So when, if, and when Tawi comes back. Anyways, this is a great game for the Clippers. Let's go, Clippers

take it all the way for the rest of the series. You just said that we're gonna be competitive. I give you that, so let's go. Let's do it with I'm out racking. Thank you incredible. I don't know this is a Rackham type of show here, Marvin, but we appreciate the phone call. Nonetheless, yeah, I thought they'd be competitive even without Kawhi Leonard. They were. They won the ball game. You gotta get greedy, though, Now try to win game two because right now you're just holding

serf winning at home. It's almost expected. Now. The Clippers were the underdogs in this game, don't get me wrong. If you were checking out the betting lines at all, but without Kawhi Leonard, if he was out for the entire series, and Paul George said yesterday expect him back at some point. I've kind of been feeling the same way. No insider information, just the way it was talked about last week with Lawrence Frank and the way

he's been progressing in practice. I would guess i'd lean towards he's back at some point. But you gotta take advantage of an off shooting night by the Dallas Mavericks or an off shooting half like the Clippers were able to do. That's the difference in the ball game. Tagus in Walnut Dagus you're on Clippers staff and that of Mawson when they win without Kawhi Leonard in Game one,

that's right, what's up at him? A great win. You guys talked a lot about what I was gonna say, but some subtle points I thought that, you know, in the first half with Zoos dominating the inside, not only did he dominate, but then we were able to get a lot of offensive boards through Terrence Man and Westbrook. It just like I think Luca was guarding Terrence for a while, but he's not gonna be the best guy to box out in Terrence Man's activity. Even though I thought he passed up

a lot of shots in the first half. He took him in the second half, So there's no on that point. There's no reason for him to pass up shots. He's been lights out for a while now and we saw that in the second half. But I definitely think that we got to keep attacking the inside. Even with this trade that Dallas did today. We saw how much that helped get all those easy baskets, and that's gonna help us. Like we've been talking about the easy shots we saw in the second half,

I think they got a little bit away from Zoo. Paul George was kind of grinding it out, and he was. He took a lot of tough, contested shots. I would like to just see Zoo get some more touches again in the second half like he did in that first quarter. But overall, great win and we'll just keep it going. I agree more from Zoo. I'm telling you, one of these days, I'm coming up with that dre parody they forgot about Zoo. It happens far too often. There's

an easier path to victory. It's playing through a viza Zoo boss. Now, he had a good third quarter and Dallas ended up going small and that affected his game, I think a little bit. But a great point regarding Terrence man in four offensive rebounds. By the way, he went four for four in the second half. It's not like he wasn't taking any he was missing some gimmes, but in the second half he was perfect. But you're

right, that's what he has to do, crash the glass. And the Clippers ended up with ten offensive rebounds to nine for the Dallas Mavericks, and they got up seven more shots than Dallas, winning that possession battle. Mitch

and the Jizzy. Mitch, what's up? You're on Clippers South with out of mauzl Hi, Mitch, I's going him great, great gang, let's see get let's tea a little bit in the fourth quarter where it's nice to see it to have four guys I think on the banjic stuff for a lot of teams, and would you say, I've never seen a combo they started a lot together talking about Harden and Westbrook three different teams. I don't know. That's never happened in the NBA. I know, and nowadays with the

free agency and the trade hap is a lot. But to see these guys come to go in teams, and it's nice that they get to hear for us now and hopefully he's goin next game. I'm sorry I didn't give you a chance, no match. It's an interesting point when you're talking about Hall of famers moving from team to team like that, from OKAC to Houston. Now both of them here with the Clippers. He may be onto something there. You know. I could see Lebron has brought guys with him here and

there at different stops, but they weren't necessarily Hall of Famers. He did bring Wade to Cleveland for one season, but yeah, I'll try to look at that. Kevin Love, Uh, yeah, I appreciate the he is although he only was at one stop with Lebron. He didn't play with him in Miami. You play with them the second stint in Cleveland. One. Thank you for the phone call, Mitch. Let's hear from Morrison, Inglewood, Morris, what's up here on clippersock? Hey? Check because the pundits.

Listen, the pundits had George and Harden losing to Luca and Kyrie. You heard what they were saying. People forgot who was coaching. They were talking about who wasn't played. They forgot who was coaching today. That's why they called him the kyropactor. I'm gonna tell you something. The guy they put in some work and I don't know, but the bookies were saying that the Clippers were underdog, and I think he said that the Clippers were favored.

But I'm gonna change something right now. This is this is Clipper time. This is their time, this is their time. We've been losing too long. We win it. This is the year. The Clippers are gonna do it. And if I'm gonna teach them. They started rolling when they were twenty six points behind in that Cleveland game, when he was twenty six behind in that Cleveland game, and they came back and won. Ever since

then, they've been another team. They ain't been the same team. A lot of teams have changed, but the Clippers have changed for the better. And in the playoffs, two things changed. Number one. Number one, they get physical. The referees that you played short punching each other, they let you play okay, And the Clippers can't play physical, and the game slows down. You all going these some isolations. They're bill perfect to win it this year. Adam and my crazy I don't do nobody to say they're

gonna win it this year. So I'll see you on Tuesday night, Okay, when we pick up game two at home. Talk to you later, Morris. I'm with you. It's all there. They're just missing one guy right now that will put them over the top. And Kawhi Leonard him being out for now. You're right the odds makers. Because of the uncertainty surrounding Kawhi Leonard, things swung to Dallas being the favorite in this series. But I like what I saw tonight. This Clippers team looks scrappy. I'm telling

you. It brings out their identity of being that resilient team when they're down a guy. It happens like that with them. Ryan and Burbank, you're on Clippers staff with out of Mawson, Hi, Ryan, Adam oh Man. This this I loved. I loved everything I saw about. I've been calling from the jump. Luka Kyrie combined for six four Clippers still beat him by double digits. It's not about Luca and Kyrie for the mass, It's always been about their role players. When their role players took us to seven

those first two games to shout over fifty percent from three. I don't see anything on this mass roster to me from this game that I'm going, oh yeah, we're gonna be real worried about that guy coming in. It's all about Luke and Kyrie in this series, and we know they had great second halfs of this game. Of the game, the Clippers regressed a little offensively, That's okay because they were so hot for the first half. You held a playoff team to eight points in a quarter. Eight points in a quarter.

Yes, some of their offensive you know, stuff will come back for the Maps. Regressive issues will come back. They'll hit a little bit more from three. But is anyone worried about PJ. Washington? And I mean gafferd looked absolutely outmatched by Szubac, who completely killed him in those first two quarters. I just I don't know a lot of matchup things that kid can solve in this particular series. I just think kylu is gonna run circles around

him. Again. My prediction for this was Clippers and six. We may get Clippers in five year at them. I'm not exaggerate, and I really think the Clippers are just a much better built team than the Mavericks when it comes to this particular matchup this year. All right, I appreciate the phone on the optimism there, Ryan, I don't necessarily disagree. I just think a lot of these guys are capable of much more than what they showed today

for the Dallas Mavericks. You give the Clippers credit, but when a team scores only eight points in a quarter, that is a rarity. No matter how good your defense is. That's a little bit fluky shooting. And both Luca and Kyrie Irving being cold for a half also, Isn't that sustainable? I just great, kid, don't get cocky the old Han solo line. The Clippers were good. They got the coaching advantage with coach Lou, of course, but I still expect Dallas to hit first and start much faster on

Tuesday night, and the Clippers just have to be aware of that. We'll take a quick time out. We're looking for coach Lou audio. We do have audio from James Harden postgame. Clippers win one O nine to ninety seven in Game one of this best of seven first round series over the Dallas Mavericks. And you're listening to Clippers talk, you're on the Patriot Amblem fifty streaming Clippers basketball the first round of the NBA Playoffs continue Sick to more NBA Playoff

Clippers winning Game one one O nine to ninety seven here at Crypto over the Dallas Mavericks, and they do so without Kawhi Leonard big Zoo played to his size twenty and fifteen. A player to watch for the game, my player to watch for the series. This is the way as the Mantalhrian line. Cos I'm Adam Moslin.

You're listening to the Patriot am eleven fifty. James Harden Great out of the Gate, had twenty points in the first half, finished with twenty eight. Here it was postgame on the Evil four Letter. We know how offensive power those guys are over there, so we can't ease into games. We gotta, you know, be a physicality team from the beginning game. We did that. They are great teams. You know how easy they can score a basketball, so we wanted to make it as different as possible. I think

we did that for four quarters. And James, this is your fifteenth straight playoff appearance, but the first with this veteran Clippers team. What did you think of the overall effort tonight, especially with five players in double figures? Unbelievably, it's going to take that, you know, quarterback quarter game by camp game. We can't get satisfied for winning the first game, you know

what I mean? So tomorrow we watched film, get better, see what we can get, we can correct and be ready to go for even better game too, And you get this win even without Kawhi Leonard, who's expected back in this series. Where is the confidence level at heading into game two? We believe in each other, you know what I mean. So obviously we miss Kawhi, but you know, we still got to win games, and we did a really good job of tonight, so I was ready to

game for Game two. Congratson on the one oher series lead. James James Harden their post game again twenty eight points, eight assists to just one turnover, and made six to three pointers for the Clippers and some big ones to open this ball game up. Clippers hold on to win one oh nine and ninety seven, something I thought might happen when everybody was, I don't know, overreacting a little bit with how the Clippers were playing myself at times too.

But I continue to remind people that they were inconsistent heading into that first round series against the Phoenix Suns as well last season, and then immediately snapped into a mode where they were playing at a different level. Effort wise and energy wise and attention to detail wise. Were the Clippers were really good in the first half, got a little bit sloppy at times in the second half,

gave up some open looks. But for the amount of discussions being had in conversations at the end of the season and talking about, well, the Clippers just don't have it. You can't play like this come playoff time, guys, Flipping a switch is real. A playoff environment is different, it always is, and this team has always been built for a playoff series. An older squad that looked like they had tired legs at times. It's just

one game, but you could see the difference out there. The Clippers were fully focused and I'm proud of the way they played in Game one without Kawhi Leonard, extremely holding a team of thirty points in the first half eight points in the second quarter. Coach lu didn't say postgame there are no bad wins in the playoffs, but also stressed, quote, we got to do a better job getting to the free throw line. However you want to take that,

that's interesting. That's another way the Clippers can improve. In Game two, I mentioned just having thirty six points in the paint, they only attempted thirteen free throws. They do need to be more aggressive. Thirty six three pointers taken on a night where you hit eighteen of them, fine, it's great, but it's about three above what they normally attempt from the outside, and you want to continue to play with force and punish teams in the basket.

There was a play by James Harden with about the five minute mark of the fourth quarter where they had just hit another timely three point shot. But I wanted to see them win this game with some good process down the stretch, with making Dallas continue to have to defend, and Harden went down the left alley and by the way, his burst and movement very different than what we saw the last two months. I'm not shocked, trying to tell you guys, I'm not that worried. Once Game one starts, then you can

start to judge where guys are at. But he forced the issue and drew a foul and got to the free throw line. Need more of that. Dallas got up twenty more free throw attempts than the Clippers. I thought there were some touch fowls being called on the Clippers in the second half, and a little bit of a bad whistle that they got in this game, which I guess is encouraging. You can win a game where a team takes twenty more free throws than you handily, by the way, but Tyler w also

said we can and have to be better, and they will be. They at least need to be Tuesday night, because I know Dallas will play a better ball game. Some of those role players will step up, somebody will get hot, and Luca and Kyrie are not going to start that cold in the first twenty four minutes of a game. It's just not that repeatable, not that sustainable, not that really bowl. So adjustments will be made, some progression to the mean in some areas, regression in others, But overall,

I like this Clippers ball club one, the way they played. Big Bro Jake some positivity before we get out of here. Big Brother Jake Warner from The Big Brother Jake Podcast Podcast one network.
